Dell logo fallen off - Streak 5 General

The chrome circle around the dell on the back of my phone came off and got sticky adhesive in my pocket. (no jokes please)
Further example of dells cheap questionable build
Ive never had a badge come off any previous phones.
Anyone else?

Yep. The second "L" dropped off mine about 2 weeks ago. I found it originally and put it back. A few days later, it was gone again...this time for good so I pulled off the "DEL" and the ring. Now my Streak has gone "commando"...kinda like the all black though...not really a "bling" person.

Hahah I'm sorry I couldnt help but laugh.

mine too,
mine reads ...Dvl missing last L and top 2 lines of E.
rubbish.

I actually took mine back to Optus and demanded a replacement - which they did Now I've got the Dell clear back cover on it, so I can't jag the logo on entry to my pocket which avoids it getting all sticky in there

clearly your dvl steak is a cheap knock-off
It happens, if you rub hard enough, even the ink would come off an iPhone's back (ones before i4 of course) Lettering on my old 3g is duller then when it was new, and I took really good care of it.
Personally i'd rather have a phone with an inset logo on metal than worry about another soft plastic phone. Perhaps you should think about intentionally peeling off the rest of the logo if it's already going. Might look good

Just took it all off now. Looks good just black embossed.
Stil dell need to make improvements for streak 2 but im def concidering buying again.

Mine too has come loose. Anyone actually called Dell and asked for a new back?

If dell don't provide the support then just turn to the web for a new back plate.

Don't want to buy one when they should fix the problem. Just wondering if anyone has tried Dell customer service to do so.

Mine came off as well. I cleaned the glue off with some windex and it looks better without the chrome!

I just last an L last week. Annoying.

My DELL Logo is gone too....doesnt look too bad but im going to visit a paintshop soon....any color/pattern/design suggestions? Will post pictures when done!
Keep having fun with the new "Deep Black" Streak

hah, I took this off the first week... I had done it on my xps years ago too.
looks better, not so flashy.

I did a little preemptive mod where I slapped a square of clear packing tape over the logo as soon as I noticed a loose 'L'
... this would look crappy but for the Otterbox case covering all of the ugly edges.

I was never a big fan of the chrome/shiny logo. I took it off my white streak at work with an exacto knife whilst reading this thread and then my black streak when I got home... Much better

Just removed mine on my red streak. I still have indents for the circle and the letters. Looks much better
Getting annoyed lately when people ask me what phone i have. I tell them it is one of 20 that can contact the president
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk

Mine is a red Streak. The backplate is pretty loose and i was pretty drunk too. Pulled it out from my pocket, the backplate flew out. The 'D' got out. Pulled out the rest too. Its just plain red at the back now. Pretty hot.

Came off my black streak about a month ago, first the ring, then the letters, just cleaned off the glue and looks ok. Should have been printed on I guess, the backplate is pretty flexible so wasn't much chance of that logo staying put.
Has dell started servicing streaks yet? I wanted to replace the plastic housing cos its looking a bit worse for wear..

Yeah I know the feeling. My second L did also came off.
I used the plastic from a screenprotector to cover it and it did work. Now I have a full body screenprotector....so problem solved

[Q]: Battery Cover?

I've been trying to keep the battery cover locked into the unit but it comes off when I have it in my pocket (just got the phone couple of days ago)! So I started looking closer today and I see the last hinge doesn't go all the way down. Anyone else experimenting the same thing?
Thanks in advance
Looks like you don't have it seeded all the way in. Make sure u push hard enough that the lid on the top is on with no gaps.

Hinge?
Mine has a plate that comes off entirely, it's quite a tight fit to get it to slide fully up into the locked position, though it's getting a bit looser as time goes by.

by hinge we mean the rubberish grip the plate secures into. your problem is simple and one many many users have had. just like the user above stated to you need to really push the back plate on to secure it.
please use the search function next time
Yeah... Seriously guys, this is an easy fix... Just make sure that when you're putting the battery door on you have all of the locks in place.

Thank you. I know that the plate needs to be pushed hard but trust me, I have pushed the cover as hard as possible. If the cover wasn't completely locked, both side would be sticking up. This is only right side back end.
Check that all six hooks are straight and that there's nothing blocking the hole that the suspect hook fits into. Mine drops into place very easily so yours should do the same.
Loctite Superglue
I had a similar "issue" . Seemed like I had to apply excessive pressure to slide it on. I was concerned that I would break the display I was pushing so hard. I just found it went on best for me if I laid it display side down on a microfiber cloth and securely slid it on. Popped on and clicked. No problems since.
Had the same issue and I used my wifes nails to force it upwards and never had an issue after that

dell in any other country dont believe in customer service
Im a yank and customer service sucked for me. The top plastic that covers the front camera is lifting a little from the front of my phone. I noticed this on my second day with the phone, and told dell this, and si ce i didn't notice when i took it out of the box dell says i must have broken it..
make sure you tell dell it happened right out of the box.

Replacement Back Cover

My Dell Streak fell out of my pocket while I was scootering and it really ruined the backplate. Miraculously... the screen doesnt even have a scratch.
But... the problem is that the Streak wont boot without the backplate on! I've gotten it to work once since the incident with the backplate off but I tried putting the backplate on afterwards only to cause it to turn off and never boot properly again.
I've called Dell and they can't help me at all since this Streak was given to me by the developer of the phone and thus was never registered.

Did they give u a backplate for the 1800?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
If they give a plate for the 1800mah battery I'd buy one right away but the 4500 is a weeee bit too big for me. I've been searching eBay but I only see them for sale in the UK :/
they wont .. only with the 4500mah one.
the 1800mah wont even last as long as sthe stock battery.

Streak w/Otterbox Defender -- TOUGH!!!

About a week and a half ago I was up on a ladder taking down Christmas lights and my Streak was in my left pants pocket. Well I took a tumble off the ladder landing on my left side (on concrete) breaking my pelvis in two places. BUT the Streak survived w/o a scratch!!! Couldn't tell it was part of the accident. I know it adds bulk but I will never own a phone w/o a Defender ever again!
Hope alls well now, I would have been surprised if anything had happened to your streak because of what otterbox says about its cases.
Bet your glad you had a case on it
man i feel your pain.... for real i do i shattered my pelvis and broke my hip and tailbone all in one shot!!!!!! its amazing how much you use your pelvis once it isant 100%, i wish you a full recovery my friend
Feel better and heal quick.
Just returned my commuter case and got my defender in the mail. Loving it so far, wish it wasn't so damn thick
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk
OUCH. I wasn't expecting that when I opened up the thread.
Maybe it's the otterbox.that did that to you? Lol
But all losing aside, Get well soon and be careful. I know a guy that is now paralyzed waist down from falling off his ladder while putting up his christmas lights.
also you now have your streak to accompany you during your recovery right?

Ouch!
My dad fell 2 weeks before Christmas. Now he has 9 screws & a metal plate holding his upper arm/ball joint together.
Maybe we can get Otterbox to make a HUMAN defender?
Ouch!!
How does one fall off a ladder? A slip? Hanging off the side? Trying to jump it over to next set of lights?
I'll have to do a pocket test with one of those cases to see if I can tolerate it. My fear is car crashes. Any streak survival stories?
In an annual safety class for work that I took several years ago... they stated that ladder falls are the number one cause of injuries in the home...
Be careful up there!
Not an otterbox, but "old school" phone story.
Had a V220 moto flip phone back in the day. Working in a hospital, got on the service elevator, then the next floor (5th floor), a food cart got on, I bumped into it, and out popped the V220, bounced once, and fell between the elevator floor & the doors. You could hear it clink clink all the way down.
Went to the engineering office, we got the elevator up, stopped it and climbed down in the pit to get what was left. battery, battery cover popped out. Put it back together and darn if it worked perfectly!
Since it was under warranty, I faked a problem and had Cingular send me another one, just to be safe
Thanks for all the well wishes. Yes my Streak is keeping me very good company during my recovery. The clip that comes with the Defender attaches very nicely to my sling so it is always with me.
I'm liking that "human defender" idea... LOL!

My Dead Streak Story

Well my streak died Wednesday night. It froze and upon rebooting, it went into a boot loop.
Tried reflashing a few roms (including originals) but was getting can't Mount SDCARD. I then went into engineering mode and found out that I had a dead internal SD-card.
Dell Mobility was closed for the night so I called them Thrusday AM and was told they would send me a replacement.
Received the replacement this morning and it is very poorly refurbished. The battery cover is pretty scratched and at the top (black bezel with the camera and speaker) you can see where the old bezel was ripped off... Looks like they used a screwdriver... very messy. There are also nicks in the back part of the body on both sides of the battery cover. Additionally, the camera bezel is not flush on the top left corner and appears to be coming up. It doesn't seem to be glued down correctly.
My dead streak is in better condition that this replacement. I could live with the two small nicks if they hadn't torn it up so much to get the front camera/speaker bezel and it was glued down properly. Well I would need a new battery cover too but I would have kept my old cover since it was fine.
I've emailed Dell with the issues but haven't heard anything back yet. Any one else get a piss-poor refurb?

Wow, I sure hope that was just an "April Fool's" posting. No way would i settle for a 'refurb' in that condition. I've had refurbs in the past for other phones Ive had replaced and they were as clean as new.
...you sure they didnt send the the dell streak from 'this' clip?....
look at post#1 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996213
I wish it was an april fools joke.... yeah I'm sure it's not that streak .... The screen and front bezels were brand new and had plastic wrap on them.
I gave up on Dell calling me back so I called them and talked to the same tech that did my first replacement. I told him I was surprised how fast the replacement got here but Decision One, Dell's refurb company, did a horrible job on the refurb. He laughed and said they shipped it so fast they forgot to repair it. He spoke with his supervisor and set up a new replacement (for the replacement).
I'll post an update when it gets here.
Just got the order update... it looks like they are sending me a brand new one:
1 225-0059 Streak UMTS Base

Replacement Streak
Well I received the new replacement streak on Monday. It had two dead pixels but I decided I could live with it since it was actually working and had no damage... Now there is an entire line of dead pixels on the screen... Guess I'll be calling again in the morning.
Thats not good.
And replaced with another brand new one by Dell... Much quicker this time I might add. But I'm putting it up for sale in the xda marketplace.
I am glad you hada faster result. I am so infactuated with my Streak, I wish I could affortd to buy that new one from you, buddy. You are going to make somebody happy!
I loved my streak too but just had some back luck with the lasts ones. My main complaint is the black glossy bezels for the buttons and camera/speaker panel.
The screen is perfect for typing on. All my friends with Iphones loved the size and the screen too.
I like that big green grin you have in your sig. So, will you still have a streak after selling this new one?
You all are lucky... In my country Dell support is miserable and there is no such thing as replacement....

Arrrgghh I've scratched it. ALREADY.. :( (the paintwork)

Any tips on touching up the chrome paint work. Dropped it getting out of the car. Scuffed the corners.
Had ordered the cover but hadn't arrived yet. Highly recommend some sort of cover before taking this beauti out.

Any one tips on touching up the plastic chrome edging.
Ouch. Looks like you have the wrong sized screen protector on - it looks the same as mine. Came with my Case-Mate, not sure why they provided the wrong protector. Maybe they hadn't produced the right ones yet and and thought the wrong size was better than nothing.
That my worst fear ..ouch
Too bad the didn't get rid of the crome and go all black like on the nexus s
I did this to my vibrant...did u get at store? If so just swap it. Make something up like randomly rebooting

get a black (not translucent) silicone case, and you are all set.
I did the same thing like second week I had my AT&T Captivate, did not bother me much. No phone is gonna stay scar-free forever

well if you want guys who have lots of paints, and who might be able to cover it, then try looking for one of them game workshop places, they have loads of paints in there and other stuff, I dropped a hd cam year ago and I passed by one of these shops and guy in there found a paint to cover it perfect.....just a thought
pray that the phone starts making awful noises and constantly reboots itself.
Then you have a reason to take it to Samsung repair centre.
The warranty i believe is 2years.
I ordered my cases from 2 ebay Us sellers and still haven't received them. Sad my phone from OK arrived first.
