If your contacts were on your SD card prior to installing WP7 and the SD card was in your device when you flashed WP7 then sorry to tell you that WP7 formats your card and all previous info is likely lost for good.

Okey no problem can i return to win 6.5 ? & i have another problem i cant unlock my phone with chevron ! he give me all the time the same error USB CABLE ZUNE

How to copy (save) contacts to the memory card?

Is it possible at all?
Could be great if I'll be able to copy (save) sms and/or e-mail messages that way too, but this is not so important...
I've tried to search the forum, but going blind and can't find answer...
Please. help me...
Thanks in advance
You need the latest version of the SIM Manager.
Here yah go:
Thanks!
I've copied contacts to SIM not to the memory card, but at least they are secure now!

Use this simple app http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-ns-contacts-backup-v1-0.html

Hmm.. how did it do that? There are other informations that a SIM card can't handle, e.g. Home phone, mobile phone of a particular contact? They give two seperate entries? How about restoring?
Anyway, a simplier way to do here

Hello?? Please, can someone help me......not even if someone tells me that it cannot be done.....
Someone???
Do you have your SIM contacts on the HTC or your PC?. If you use Outlook for example you will find that the first activsync session you did the SIM contacts were transerred to your PC contacts (at least that is what happened with me). If they are there then a new activsync session should get them back on the HTC and you can then use SIM Manager to transfer them back onto the SIM.
If you have no copies anywhere then you need some data recovery software. I do not know if there is any recovery software that works on internal memory rather than hard discs - you could try googling to see.

[Q] Thinking of installing WP7 some questions

Been on stock rom with a few addon from the early days, now the phones out of warranty i am thinking of hspl'ing it and taking the plunge to make it a better phone.
Just wanted to ask a few questions if someone can help.
1. If I install hspl will my win 6.5 stay intact until I decide to move over to WP7?
2. Can I backup my contacts, Pictures, sms's, music ect to import into WP7?
(can I also copy pics etc from my memory card to my pc and back to memory after WP7 formats it?
3. As there is no turn by turn navigation software I was thinking of installing dual boot with android on memory card to run google maps (good idea or not) ?
4. Is WP7 worth the switch? over 6.5
Thanks in advance for any advice/help
Here some short answers:
1) Yes, no problem at all.
2) The only thing I was not able to move to WP7 were SMS´s. For everything else there is a simple solution
3) Check this tutorial for the dual boot solution
4) Many say yes, many prefer Android. After all, it´s up to you.

1. Nope. WP7 will be flashed on the internal memory of the phone and WM6.5 will be erased. You can however flash back WM6.5 at any given time, so you have a fallback if needed.
2. You can, but you must do some things 1st
- Sync contacts with Outlook.
- Export contacts as csv file from Outlook.
- Import resulting csv in Gmail (create a gmail account if you don't have one already). You can of course also import the contacts in Windows Live if you don't want Gmail for some reason. Gmail is just the more universal solution as it will sync contacts with Android as well
- After you install WP7 set up your Gmail and all contacts will be imported over the air.
- Pictures and music should be backuped up to your PC prior to WP7 installation. Sync them over to WP7 with Zune. It's fast and easy
3. Who told you there is no turn by turn navigation Look out for Navigon Select. Features some excellent maps. Of course you can also dual boot with Android if you prefer Google Maps or some other sat nav software.
4. IMO it is worth it and I fell in love with the smooth interface and the speed of WP7. But it's personal preference. My wife for example hates the tiles

To be clear, the OP asked about installing HSPL, while deciding whether or not to go to WP7 - that can be done without affecting WM6.5.
1. If I install hspl will my win 6.5 stay intact until I decide to move over to WP7?
That depends entirely which SPL version you're running right now. If you're running a 3.14 ROM, you will have 3.14 SPL which is incompatible with HSPL, so you'll have to downgrade to a previous official ROM via the SD card method.
2. Can I backup my contacts, Pictures, sms's, music ect to import into WP7?
(can I also copy pics etc from my memory card to my pc and back to memory after WP7 formats it?
Yes, but there's a few additional steps you need to take. I managed to get everything but contacts moved with Zune. The contacts are easy enough to move with a SIM card or Outlook, for example.
3. As there is no turn by turn navigation software I was thinking of installing dual boot with android on memory card to run google maps (good idea or not) ?
I'd just run a NAND 'droid ROM, personally. There's nothing WP7 offers that Android doesn't do easier and better.
4. Is WP7 worth the switch? over 6.5
Over from 6.5? Maybe. Over Android? Definitely not.
For me Wp7 didnt work... i prefer Android. Still a bit green OS
Thanks Guys.
Think I might go with my original plan and install WP7 on rom and run Android from mem card and then play with them to see which i prefer.
Just got to work out the backing up bit now for my email accs and messages etc (already backed up sim card to pc so pictures etc are safe)
will let you know how I get on
Managed to back everything up except text messages, have scoured net and seems there is no way to import them into mp7
what are MS doing? they bring out a new OS but don`t supply the option to use one of their own tools to help people move over to the new os, this will alienate a few buyers.

First you have to send this cabhttp://xboxmod.sylvester20007.com/cabs/sdcard/DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab with cab sender and then you sould be able to see the card in windows and then format it with sdformater with the option "format size adjustment" . hope this help.
ps: dont forget to unlock it on wp7

just put it in the folder where you have WP7 Update Cab Sender and let it do its thing an when installed go to wp7 program menu and you will find storage lock just run it and unlock micro sd card, power off and put it on card reader .
dont unpack the cab just copy to WP7 Update Cab Sender folder

Moving from Back to the Future to Pdaimatejam Rom

I wnated to try the newer Pdaimatejam Rom releases but seems i have some troubles with my sd card!
I was using 7720 - Back to the future. Flashed 7740 Pdaimatejam. No sdcard - not in pc not in phone (WP7 complaining about broken sd card)
Since i have no nokia to format it i was kinda of stuck.
Reflashed 7004 Back to the future - Works fine again but still not in a pc or using the phone mass storage. The dev unlock does not seem to work.
And the back to the future readme mentions the fact that it's not possible to unlock anymore since it uses the real WP7 SD formating (with the security option)
Now how can i get my card back? No nokia so that's no option and since the unlock doesn't work i'm kinda stuck
Fragz,
That is bound to happen, once u Flash ur HD2 with BTF ROM, you cannot flash DFT/PDA ROMS without reformatting your sdcard.
Note: Formattting SDCard means different here : You need to format it with a Nokia Symbian 9 OS Mobile, and NOT FORMAT AGAIN IN PC. If possible storage_unlock in your HD2 before taking out, otherwise also is ok.
DFT/PDA roms do not lock your card and you cannot update using zune, where as BTF ROM locks down ur sdcard.
How does unlocking using the unlock cab work? My HD2 can be really annoying on 7004 (freeze at boot after cab installing) - only got it to boot once with the unlock cab installed but unlocking didn't work i think, it said card unlocked but after a poweroff the card did not work in my pc.
Currently updating to 7720. Hope that'll allow me to unlock the card!
Not True very easy
I had the same problem, but I didn't need to format to any Nokia formatting and now I'm on the new rom

So what did you do?
This is what you do
This is what i did, i when i was on back to the future i first unlock my card then i went back to 7312 or earlier version then all you have to do is go to the pdaimatejam....good luck
Just got it working
7004 - 7661 (7720 upgrade failed) - dev sd unlock CAB file
my pc saw a 200mb SD Card - SDFormatter made it 8gb again
Currently flashing Pdaimatejam rom!
happy happy joy joy
Walla who needs Nokia formatting!!!!

Thanks for the super fast reply!
I've solved the problem.
I used a nokia phone to format the mem card instead, then flashed the rom..
Thanks for replying!
Cheers!
