Can BT remote be the selling point?
Do we want to hold additional gadget (size of a mobile HP)? If given the choice, I would rather used a bluetooth headset. Smaller and portable. My personal opinion.
Nothing to stop the same being made for other tabs no? ie the SGT has BT 3.0 so has plenty o BW to cope with it. I had the idea of a single glass like piece of touch sc4reen goodness that would operate much the same, with a holster on my tabs case (case goes on when it leaves the carpet floors of my bedroom)

Thanks for the heads up! This one looks also very nice. Built-in stylus, 1.2 MHz, 385 gram and a Bluetooth remote. Very, very interesting ... And that for €399: 8gb with sd card slot. Yep, something to check out.
Indeed you can get a bt remote for SGT today, go visit the accessories section for some ideas.
What is interesting about this tab, is that to my limited knowledge, it is the only other tab that also supprts gsm voice (and 7") Xoom, SGT 10 , lg , flyer -- all seem to not have voice. I dont know about the dell streak 7, or the ideos and huwawei products.
To some, me included, the combo of 7" and gsm voice is the holy grail of form and fuction. Today, the SGT is the only game in town. But it is nice to know that there maybe some other options soon.
Oh and it says it will run honeycomb too, nice. Who wants to speculate that sammy will release an honeycomb upgrade for SGT before this product launches? (yes i agree xda will get there before sammy does. . .)

Yes, it still has a GPS.
Thanks! Not sure if I want to wait for the Galaxy Tab or go for the Xoom. I have an Epic 4G and am not entirely satisfied with Samsung's support.

I personally had 2 Xooms already, IMO they are not ready for prime time, and while it might seem like nitpicking, the needle thin power adapter plug is a disaster just waiting to happen. The second Xoom had a hardware failure, while I could see it had potential, I would not recommend one, I'd hold out for one of the other tabs coming out soon like the new Samsungs
I have an Eee Pad Transformer with Honeycomb sitting in my bag, but I'm orting this from my Galaxy Tab which is still the perfect compromise between size and functionality.
Regards,
Dave
I tried the xoom, 1st one had a dead wifi and bluetooth, exchanged for another, used it for about 10 days. Most of the apps that I needed wouldn't run on it, Fring for example.
Tried the View Sonic G tablet, returned it after 1 day.
Just got my Galaxy Tab Wifi today from Tiger, so far, love it, Fring works. It is like a super sized version of my GalaxyS Fascinate.
And yes, gps and maps, navigation work fine, curiously though my paid Navigon is not available for it, maybe update later.

hi everyone , ive just bought my motorola xoom mz604 , and i think its awesome because android honeycomb is really good OS, it is fast and smooth
but iam having some problems with installing apps, and i realized that most of them aren't compitable with the xoom, like the android games hawx, assassins creed and modern combat 2...
anyways i just wanted to know the adv and dis-adv of my device from an expert
thnx =)
sorry for my bad english
Answering the question in your title, the xoom IS good... very good, in fact. Sure there are a few apps here and there that do not work, but for the most part, everything runs fine. Additionally, the new scaling option in 3.2 ensures that more apps are functional. I simply love the beauty and elegance of honeycomb, and I still find the xoom to be my preferred method to obtain the honeycomb experience. Plus, being Google's reference HC device, we get all of the updates first.
I like it
3.1/3.2 is brill for emulators too when you connect up a ps3 controller via usb!

What about the Galaxy Tab displeases you and makes you want to switch to the Xoom? They are about even on features and such, with the Galaxy being slightly lighter and thinner.
Ummmm. Its the "google dev" device. With that said...
Moto is a horrible company
The xoom 3g has turned into the last tab to recieve updates
Still no promised 4g
Sd support is only soso...
I would recommend a samsung device...the xoom is a bastardized piece of hardware. Go with a device that is "popular" thus will be supported more....not the xoom

I couldn't disagree more, but to each his own...
I'm plenty happy with mine, just a wifi though and no cell network model. That, honestly, is probably the issue with slow updates just like it is for my epic: the company that runs the network it's attached to wants to manage its stuff (aka install crap and extra 'features') and is slowing down the process. Sprint is HORRIBLE with this.
As for why I chose the xoom over others - part of it was price, it was the $400 32gb wifi model off woot.com. Second was that it has actual ports on it (micro-usb, mini-hdmi, etc) and not some proprietary jack *cough*galaxytab*cough* that you need to hook up some dorky dongle to in order to get a usb port.
I'm pissed that the Xoom 3.2 update only let's you read the SD card but not write. That's ass backwards to me.
I have to root this thing to get that basic feature. I think they still haven't figured out the issue that devs figured out. Other than that I like it and apps are slowly starting to catch up.

Like most of the respondents to this thread, I have been very happy with my Xoom. I have had the chance to play about with most of its major rivals in the 10 inch space (The Transformer and the Iconia and a 7 inch Tab) and while each has pros and cons (and nearly identical tech specs), I prefer the Xoom for several reasons...
The build quality is excellent. The device feels solid and durable while also giving off a sense of luxury. Most people who have handled it have commented on how "high-end" the Xoom feels.
As a Google experience device (thanks to special ordering a US model), the Xoom has the best chance of the current crop of tablets to run Ice Cream Sandwich well in a few months.
The XDA community for the Xoom is the best developed of the current slew of tablets with many excellent developers and plenty of other users willing to help and guide you (and "gently" remind you when you are being an idiot).
I like the design of the Xoom, with the power button recessed on the gently curved back. The placement works well for me and I prefer it to having the power button on the front of the edge of the tablet.
Those are my reasons for choosing the Xoom as the first amongst equals, but as always, ymmv. I suggest you find a store with demo models of most brands and see which one feels right to you.

Fair Enough. Touchwiz might be able to be disabled when it comes out but maybe not. The xoom comes with a bit of crapware itself, dungeon defender and cordy are the ones that come to mind though there may be more.
It would not be worth the cost to me but to each his own. You could probably find a xoom owner who is fed up with Motorola enough to do a trade.

I totally agree with you. I bought mine with a $100 off coupon from staples. I initially wanted to buy the tranformer now looking back I dont regret my purchase. Love my xoom.

I had to fiddle around with the formatting in order to make it work, but I know the problem you had and eventually got around it. Try ntfs, fat, or whatever - just mess around with it in your computer until you find one that it likes. I forget offhand what made mine happy.
I've had my fascinate since it came out, I'm looking into getting a tablet.
After having yours for a little while, do you still like it? Would you rather have something else? I'm also thinking of the eee transformer our the iPad. Want to ask some people with tablet experience.
Thanks

I've got an Aussie GT-P1000T and its a great device. I quite like the smaller 7" form factor and that's really this tab's biggest point of difference to the other tabs you mention. The Transformer is 10.1" (and it's replacement has already been announced if that's a problem for you) while the iPad is 9.7".
The only other thing to keep in mind is that this year Samsung will be releasing a HC-capable replacement for this tab as well as larger 7.7" and 8.9" Tabs so you might want to keep that in mind before you buy anything.
the original gt 7 inch is THE ONLY TABLET WITH TELEPHONE CAPABILITY....no other tablet provides this. so you can actually "get rid" of your celphone by having this tablet. You should use handsfree kit BTW for making calls....
As for the UI well I will leave it up to you to decide as my experience with android might be misunderstood as trolling.....hint: I recently got hold of an ipad 2....
It's still a great tablet, everything works perfectly on it (including calls). If you are looking for cheap and qualility, this is it, you can find cheap used/refurb SGT7 with 3G. if money is no object to you, I would wait for 7.0plus or 7.7

Why SS? As its 5.3in screen? And will you loss the Lapdock with full Ubuntu computer? And are you sure you leave the pretty good GPS/GSM/Wifi of Atrix to get GNote which is almost bad in radio especially in GPS like every Ss handset? Why dont you change to Droid Razr Maxx?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Also don't forget that Atrix already have an ICS ROM built by some awesome devs! So, why to expend money on a new device while your current one can handle all the new stuff without breaking a sweat?
I wanted a Note, Saw one and the first thing that came to my mind was "dam I will not fit on some of my pockets" Really I lost interest on it, not functional for me as a "portable phone" It even feels weird holding it on your hand.
I'd give the latest built of CM9 with 2D acceleration a shot, before you make your mind up.
+1 for keeping the Atrix and putting ICS(CM9) on it. Feels like a brand new phone!
You can't compare the Atrix with die Glaxy note. The Atrix ist still a Mobilphone with its 4" Inch and the Galaxy Note ist more a Tablet with its 5.3 inch.
So if you want to surf the internet with possibilty to use the device as a phone than get the Galaxy Note.
But in my opinion keep the Atrix becaus with the Lapdock you have a much better device for the internet and without the lapdock you have a nice phone which you can easyly carry around.
And the performance of the atrix is still good and maybe some phone are better but IMHO i dont buy a phone to beat all the others in some benchmarks
wait for quad core phones later this year. No reason to change until then.

The only flaw besides the limitations set by motorola on this phone is , imo, the tegra2 processor cannot take advantage of the screen recorder app on the market. Cant remember the name off hand. Other than that why switch?
The limitations of motorola are gone with this excellent community though. I love my atrix!

Hi, I'm looking from advice from existing Galaxy Tab 10.1 users.
I am a self employed web designer and am looking for a tablet that I can use as a mobile portfolio and for demos of sites under development, etc.
My main requirements are... light, thin + decent 10" screen and ideally something that doesn't feel too cheap so when I hand it to clients it feels OK.
I can get a (reconditioned) Galaxy Tab 10.1 on eBay UK for £190 so it strikes me as a good deal.
Would a Galaxy Tab 10.1 suit my purpose? Is the ICS build OK? Are there any gotchas? As I said it will really be used fairly infrequently. I have an Android phone (Moto RAZR) that I can tether to the tablet for 3G data.
Any advice or thoughts are very welcome!
aesthetically speaking, the G-tab 10.1 is a very nice device. the new ICS update has been working very nice also.
however, the "gotcha" is that it's last year's hardware (dual core Tegra2). Getting one now really puts you behind the curve compared to tablets with current hardware. Personally, I wouldn't get anything less than a quad-core cpu.
The Asus transformer TF300t is the best deal on a 10" tablet right now (quad-core Tegra3, and it just got the Jelly Bean update), but it's not quite as nice feeling as the original G-tab 10.1, and it's still probably a bit more expensive than 190 english pounds

Nothing he is wanting to use the tablet for would need anywhere near 4 cores. Nothing we have available to us right now fully utilizes 4 cores. ICS is the first firmware to even fully utilize 2 cores. By the time we need quad core tablets, the current quad core tablets will be old and outdated anyways. I say, for what you need it for, the gtab will be just fine.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Pulled the trigger on one this morning. :good: As Towie said, the Tab will mainly be used for web browsing a single site at a time during meetings and a bit of Evernote / gmail / etc.
If it proves useful I'll probably upgrade to a quad-core (or whatever the state of the art is) next year.

I actually picked one up for $11 US at an electronics chain store that was dropping all Tab accessories. HHGregg is the chain. I was shocked at the quality when I opened the package. Much better than the OEM case that allows it to stand and has the magnetic flap. That thing can't even tolerate a finger nail swiping it and it was $50.

The Galaxy tab 10.1 3g can make calls. I made a few today. Well, the hack was only made available so that's why most users wouldn't know about it.
