A Few Questions about Windows 7 - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

I have been using a NAND Android ROM since they came out and love it, but I'm curious about Windows 7. My questions are as follows:
Does Windows 7 run off the SD card or NAND?
Can I go back to Android if I don't like it?
Does everything work on 7?
Is there a working Pandora hack?
Thanks for anyone's help on this.

1) It runs from NAND
2) Yes, simply flash your preferred NAND via MAGLDR
3) Yes, if you get your activation code to use Live services
4) The jailbreak is called "Chevron" and is cooked into most custom ROMs - but not the very first "Leo70".

The nice thing about the HD2 is you can install wp7 on your NAND, and still boot android off your SD... I went from NAND android back to SD android builds so I could also use wp7, and I've noticed almost no difference in performance and battery life between NAND android and SD android. Only thing you miss out in with SD android is that there's no clockwork recovery... but it's easy enough to boot different builds and make backups with SD android.
WP7 is great, but it's still missing some functionality and apps that android has, so having both is perfect. At this point, I would have a very hard time choosing between the 2 OS's if I had to get a different phone. WP7 grows on you very quickly. Can't wait for MS to put out the update that gives multitasking to WP7.

nand android & android

hi,
i was wondering what is the difference between
nand android
and just
android,
which one is better?
thx
Nati
As I understand it, the first way to run Android on the HTC HD2, was to install it in a special way (described in one of the sticky posts on this forum) on an SD card, and run 2 programs while the phone is booted in Windows Mobile.
NAND Android means that Android is actually installed as the main and only OS in the memory of the phone. That means that Windows Mobile has been completely replaced by Android.
Myself, I am only starting to look into Android, so I am going to do the SD based version first, and check out if it has everything I need (most prominently Microsoft Exchange Server integration of the same quality as WinMo has it).
If it does, then I'm going to switch to NAND android.
You're posting questions that make no sense, nand android and android are the same thing, nand, sd, ram android builds are different .If you read up on android and the difference on builds you will know what it is, and NAND is internal device

[Request] SD - CM7 ROM bootable from MAGLDR

so I have not seen one ROM on the entire forums (in any flavor) that is an SD card ROM and can be booted and work from magldr.
But why would I need that when we have NAND? a few reasons:
1) If you have a NAND ROM you really like but want Sense for a day, or AOSP. etc.. it's kind of a pain to do a backup, wipe, flash, then restore later, be much easier to just boot one from MAGLDR.
2) the real reason I want this. If you have WP7 flashed on your phone, you could still use Android (since WP7 is pretty cool, but it's nowhere near Android) by turning off your phone, taking out your WP7 sd card and switching it with another one with the Android ROM on it, boot into MAGLDR, launch AD SD and you're good to go, when you're ready for WP7 just switch back to the original WP7 raided card and boot WPH.
I can't get any of the haret roms to load right or work when doing AD SD, the only thing we can use that for right now is CWM, which is cool, but really I can't be the only person who wants this. And CM7 just happens to be my favorite version of Android atm. Of course as resources allow donations would be forthcoming (even though we know you guys don't do this for money, it's nice to show appreciation).
Just want something nice and stable (or somewhat). The MDJ CM7 ROM i was running from SD had like no issues. Hell I'd take a CM 6.1 or even Sense or anything really at this point.
+1.... We need more sd bootable roms in general. There has been no work on sd androids since nand came out. I, too, want to use wp7 on nand with android from sd.
I support the idea of more SD ROMs bootable via MAGLDR too - ideally I want to tri-boot with WP7 for fun and fiddling, a DHD ROM for normal use and a AOSP ROM for development.

[Q] WP7 with SD Card installation like Android etc?

Hi there,
I was wondering if it would be possible in the near future to have WP7 running of an SD card like with Android. Because now I've finally found a near to perfect Android build (SuperRAM by darkstone) because my battery life is even better than on WM! I would like to have the option to still choose this one as my daily driver, but I would really love to have a go with WP7. It would be great to have an Android build, WP7 build and maybe a Meego build (in the future) all on the same SD card, with windows still running on NAND. I'm no real techie so I dunno if it is too much to ask, but I would really like to know my possibilities. Thanks in advance.
Same here. I think il always want wm 6.5 as a default os. Theres no way im flashing wp7 until its run off sd card or ram. I really want an answer on this. Triple boot!
hd2 wm6.5 android and wm7 all in one?
so right now i have the wm6.5 as my main os and have android to use when ever i need or want to show it off. after iam done i shut down android and turn the phone on again and wm6.5 reloads. can i do that with wm7? i want to keep wm6.5 the way i have it now and be able to load android or wm7 when ever i want and the go back to wm6.5. is that possible? THIS WAS A POST I MADE ON ANOTHER THREAD. I HERE WOULD LIKE TO KNOWIF THIS IS POSSIBLE
I want the exact same thing. But after doing a bit of reading it looks unlikely at the moment. Its nand only. I guess we can just pray there will be a sd ram version in the works
it can be done its been posted on here somewhere but its a very long winded process.
search for a dual boot.thinking of doing this myself
just a hypothesis, but since wp7 formats the sd card when it is fllashed, and then acts as if it is internaal storage, even if you could boot wp7 from an sd card, you would need another one to use as internal storage. if it was possible to partition the sd card and use one of the partitions to boot wp7 and the other for storage, you wouldn't have any data space for android (pics, songs etc.) So back to square one...
Exactly what I am looking for
WM6.5 main OS, with Android and/or WP7 running off SD Card.

[Q] Can I use respectively Android and Windows Phone 7 OS on the two sd cards??

I'm wondering that if I have 2 sd cards, can I use Android and Windows phone 7 OS on each card respectively?
If I could, I would buy one more sd card for android.
Actually, I the most like Windows Phone 7 OS among Android, WP7, Meego and WM6.5.
Could anybody tell me about it pls?
The short answer is no.
You can run Android from your SD card and still have a Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM on your phone.
You can have an Android ROM flashed to your phone (NAND).
You can have WP7 flashed to your phone (NAND).
You cannot have two NAND builds flashed at the same time (e.g. Android and NAND).
Therefore the best you can do right now is to have either:
WinMo 6.5 AND Android, or
Android NAND, or
WP7
Your solution... buy another HD2
Yes, you can have WP7 on nand and attached with one sd card, and then use a different SD card to run android from. Android will not be on nand, but you can run it from sd with magldr. Thats what I'm doing so I have a lot of space for each os... I have my 16gb card for WP7, and my 32gb card I have several android builds working. Working great for me now! You have to make some changes to the init.rc file in most android builds to make them work, but there are a few that work as is. There's a couple stickied threads in the HD2 Android SD Development section.
Also, you can partition your SD card so you can have WP7 and android using the same card. Instructions also in the sd dev section.

You forgot WP7 AND Android from SD
Quite correct, sorry.

Any chance to run wp7 from sd totally?

and use android in the nand? i want use wp7 only for make hd videos and use android for all days, let me know please
no.... it's impossible.... WP7 system not operate in that way... WP7 must be flashed to NAND and use SDcard as storage and RAM memory
it's a shame! with android is possibile and with wp7 not
I remember several months ago there was speak of cotulla creating a way to boy wm 6.5 via sd card too but i never heard anything since..maybe just because 6.5 has continued to lose favor
you cant boot WM6.5 by SD card either an doesnt SD android copy its self to RAM? WM2003 might be possible.
The clever chap has got some form or working WM5/6 Emulator working under WP7 if that has direct hardware support, im talking com ports etc, the HD2 would become perfect
course another interesting experiement would be running android via WM6 which is running on WP7, im sure it would run like **** if it was even possible but damn that would be pretty cool

Perhaps what you are thinking about was that there was some talk about a 3-in-1 DFT ROM for the US T-Mobile HD2 that would be able to run Windows Phone 7 or Windows Mobile from NAND memory and Android from the Micro SD card. When booting the phone it would be possible to choose 1 of the 3 operating systems. Other versions of the HD2 (such as the European or Asian models of the phone) do not have enough NAND memory for a 3-in-1 ROM.
is possible install wp7 and android in nand together?

"We (DFT Team) developing several interesting stuffs for LEO, like WM65 running from SD card!"
This is what I was talking about... from Cotulla's twitter..apparently that post was in January of 2011 though

i did some research on this with MS documents and i dont think its possible without it running like **** or having persistant storage issues. WM2003 didnt need persistant storage and ran mostly from RAM (thats why in the good old days if your battery died it reset!) so that might be possible although you'd probably run in to driver issues.
With Android you can more or less change what the OS does, with WM you cant
Essentially SD is very slow, you could build a form of loader that would install to SD but thats not ideal because you need to run the OS in RAM, RAM drives would do, but thats not persistant and WM didnt have a way of mirroring that data back to the SD. In essence, it was never designed to do it, and it was never designed to be changed, so its unlikely it will run from SD unless those issues could be resolved.
I think the 1GB HD2 was going to get a dual boot at one point, and this new emulator looks promising, thats about as close as we'll get i suspect, but then again, perhaps i miss understood what i saw..

I would guess that it all depends on what MAGDLR 2.01 has in its arsenal. Only time will reveal that. And, for sure it would only be possible on the US T-Mobile version of the phone.
