and use android in the nand? i want use wp7 only for make hd videos and use android for all days, let me know please
no.... it's impossible.... WP7 system not operate in that way... WP7 must be flashed to NAND and use SDcard as storage and RAM memory
it's a shame! with android is possibile and with wp7 not
I remember several months ago there was speak of cotulla creating a way to boy wm 6.5 via sd card too but i never heard anything since..maybe just because 6.5 has continued to lose favor
you cant boot WM6.5 by SD card either an doesnt SD android copy its self to RAM? WM2003 might be possible.
The clever chap has got some form or working WM5/6 Emulator working under WP7 if that has direct hardware support, im talking com ports etc, the HD2 would become perfect
course another interesting experiement would be running android via WM6 which is running on WP7, im sure it would run like **** if it was even possible but damn that would be pretty cool

Perhaps what you are thinking about was that there was some talk about a 3-in-1 DFT ROM for the US T-Mobile HD2 that would be able to run Windows Phone 7 or Windows Mobile from NAND memory and Android from the Micro SD card. When booting the phone it would be possible to choose 1 of the 3 operating systems. Other versions of the HD2 (such as the European or Asian models of the phone) do not have enough NAND memory for a 3-in-1 ROM.
is possible install wp7 and android in nand together?

i did some research on this with MS documents and i dont think its possible without it running like **** or having persistant storage issues. WM2003 didnt need persistant storage and ran mostly from RAM (thats why in the good old days if your battery died it reset!) so that might be possible although you'd probably run in to driver issues.
With Android you can more or less change what the OS does, with WM you cant
Essentially SD is very slow, you could build a form of loader that would install to SD but thats not ideal because you need to run the OS in RAM, RAM drives would do, but thats not persistant and WM didnt have a way of mirroring that data back to the SD. In essence, it was never designed to do it, and it was never designed to be changed, so its unlikely it will run from SD unless those issues could be resolved.
I think the 1GB HD2 was going to get a dual boot at one point, and this new emulator looks promising, thats about as close as we'll get i suspect, but then again, perhaps i miss understood what i saw..

I would guess that it all depends on what MAGDLR 2.01 has in its arsenal. Only time will reveal that. And, for sure it would only be possible on the US T-Mobile version of the phone.

i just check again cotulla magldr future features development
*support of fixed partitions layout with ability to reflash any partition
so it means we can make rom partition and use 1 partition for android nand boot and the other for winmo nand boot?? aka the real dual boot from nand ??
i read somewhere that winmo cannot read any partition in rom so its not possible... only android and other linux based can use partitions for 2 different build... but that future release point make me think again
what do you think, is that possible?
(well for euro hd2 its almost impossible with 2 partitions each use 256 mb for winmo and android, but tmobile user will have little to no problem with that 512x2)
Actually, current MAGLDR already partitions internal space. For example: seperate partitions for system and data.
Having a fixed layout with the option to just reflash one partition has advantages, for example when it comes to upgrading a build. It would be possible to reflash just the system partition, leaving user data intact.
I don't think this future feature necessarily has anything to do with flashing multiple OS's on NAND.
I hope that in the future we can have both winmo and android on nand... or wp7 and android. Looking forward to future releases of magldr to see what's possible.
If you did not mention already, there are huge problems with the EU-HD2 and Android with having not enough space on the NAND.
After a clean full Android Sense installation, there are only about 60MB left on NAND-space.
WHERE do you want to instasll windows phone 7? I am really sure it will need more then 60 Mb ;-)
I think the most reliable solution would be WP7 on NAND and Android on SD (like it worked with WM6.5 already) or Android on NAND an WP7 on SD (but i do not know if this would work or is in dev-progress).
Two Systems on the small NAND Space of 512mb is not capable i think!
well im thinking about the t-mobile version so 512x2 must be enough to dual boot nand android-winmo (i know its not fair for the euro user... but hey, thats life, i also seriously planning to swap my hd2 euro to the t-mob one if that features come)
also here http://htc-linux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Leo/Magldr
said magldr support YAFFS2 partitions and afaik means support for winmo and android nand boot
so dual nand boot in the future, i think its possible

Yeah, obviously those with 512mb nands probably wouldn't be able to fit 2 OS's on nand, but us lucky ones with 1gb roms may.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
yeah the TMOUS useres COULD get that feature
But even if you would have 2 NAND operating systems where do you want to store your userdata?
ok on android it is solved with the NAND & userdata.img builds - but there is a long way to this with winmob / phone 7 - despite this there is the question if it is even possible ;-)
so we should wait and see if the real devs can do this... or not
I was just wondering if there had been any updates regarding the dual booting on NAND? I would really like to try WinMo 7, but not at the expense of losing my tweaked android build.
BUMP: So if there is a T-Mobile HD2, then it may just be possible to dual boot from NAND ? (Considering MAGLDR gets this feature in the future revisions).
Then I will wait for this, in love with HyperDroid-CM7 and cannot sacrifice this for WP7.

Holy shequie mate I'm so with you on the Hyperdroid, it is simply outstanding what I want is a way of dual booting winmo 6.5 (so I can easy stream vids and swap files on my home network) and Hyperdroid CM7 (coz it's the best phone/app experience ever!!) - This would be great, to dual boot, IS there a way, I only have EU HD2 unfortunately tho... But surely if you are running from HCSD it's pretty bloody quick anyway??
Thanks in advance for any feedback...
I haven't bothered installing the MAGLDR yet because I am very comfortable with my setup, I have windows mobile 6.5 with android SD, however would it be possible to dual boot Windows Phone 7 with android or Windows Mobile 6.5 on the Nand? Like for the TMOUS1024 devices? I've read on the chinese site for the DFT that its possible but the instructions are very hard to understand. I can't be the only one wondering this or wanting this? Any ideas guys?
I too would love the ability to dual boot, whether it be dual-nand, or WP7 as an SD build (and Android NAND).
Any chance of this happening, devs?
Right now u can dual boot Android NAND and Android SD.
Windows 7 NAND and Android SD but this is too complex. u need to make two partitions on the SD card.
I too would like to still run wm 6.5 as my main os and boot WM7 and Android from my Sd cards. I would also like to know if this is possible.
Is it possible to boot a SD android version via magldr?
Mine freezes if I choose Boot Android SD :/

i think in the future u should be able to dual boot both from nand if u have the 1024leo because the windows phone 7 rom only uses half of the nand

Hey...
Yeah, darren wrote an excellent tutorial, it`s pretty simple to dual boot with that (the partitioning only takes loooooooong)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815
I will add the link to a tutorial I made afterwards which includes his tutorial and adds the instruction how to boot Core Droid HD 0.4 as an option for an android build to actually dual boot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10689007&postcount=1106
I used this build (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801607) for over a month and all I can say is that this is the best Desire HD Sense build I've tried!!! (fast and stable)
So enjoy WP7 Nand and Android SD TOGETHER!!!

Dual boot from NAND only
Well, just the question I wanted to ask (OP, not the hijacking posts):
WM 6.5 (or WP7) NAND partition 1, Android partition 2.
At least that's the idea. Two OS's from the faster NAND memory, rather than the slower SD. Only applicable, of course, to the 1024MB version of the HD2. I know this is difficult, but if the chinese are doing it, why can't we ? This would just make this phone more awesome than it already is.
Can anyone answer if this is possible or not, and if not, why?

What chinese are doing it? I've never seen 2 OS's both on nand on a phone anywhere... even those cheap chinese fakes that claim to run both wm and android are just running android off the sd.
I, too, hope one day someone makes this possible... but not sure if it will happen or possible yet.
Also, HD2 NAND is not faster than a good quality SD in most cases. You might get a little better random access speed from nand, but if you find a good sd, even that is probably about equal. Even WP7 is now using SD cards as internal memory, now, but you need a good SD card that matches the NAND speed for it to work right. SD Android builds run at the same speed as NAND builds in most cases, but most SD builds aren't updated like NAND builds are.
But anyways, I agree that I would like to see 2 OS's from NAND on our phones.

I have a nice tutorial on how to do this. You have to be careful to choose the right SD Android Builds which you can use. There are only a few which are compatibe with SD Magldr. In my thread there are some of the more popular ones which has been converted to work with more coming shortly.
When Nand first came out there were a tutorial which I came across to convert SD Builds into Nand so in theory reversing the process you might be able to convert Nand back to SD and convert that to work with Magldr. It is something I have been wanting to look into for a few weeks now so I might just make it a priority of mine cause any build to dual boot with WP7 would be pretty awesome.
I think its possible, but its difficult because Windows properity OS may conflict with Androids OS so someone would have to configure it so that they both won't conflict with each other.
Thanks for the participation! That chinese bit was mostly to just stir the pot a bit .
Could somebody tell me if there is possibility of running WP7 or WM 6 or 6.5 from SD card like Android??
No, WP7 formats the SD card into a unnown format witch can't boot linux! So no Android or others for now!
I know, but i'd like to run any windows phone or mobile from SD card, like Android relased by m-deejay such as: =MDJ FroYo HD v.4.6=.

Cotulla stated that he's working on a winmo6.5 that can be run from sd with magldr. I don't know how long it will take him if he's even successful, but cotulla's done some amazing things, so I think we'll see it done eventually.... at least I hope. I bought my HD2 originally because it was winmo, unlike a lot of people here who wanted to get rid of winmo as quick as possible. I still like winmo, but I have also grown a fondness to android and now wp7 is growing on me... and with the HD2, I will be able to run all of them! That will be great... have wp7 on nand, then android, wm6.5, ubuntu and hopefully meego from sd card... not to mention win98 and winxp emulation with qemu! I love my HD2.
I hope so. I was really looking forward to wp7 but now that I know you have to wipe wm6.5 & my android build to run it, im really disappointed. Looks like I was looking forward to nothing I was so hoping you could run wp7 & android off sd card & still have wm6 as base os. My hopes dashed

Nice, I must of missed those posts. I went from an sd build to mdjs gingerbread nand rom...what a difference. battery lasts 1.5 days (some games dont work)
I tried wp7 but wanted to just mess around with it but still use android as my day phone. have you done it? what about ram builds are they beter then sd?
Hey,
i already have a htc desire hd, but i'll get a htc hd2 nearly for free from a mate and i have a few questions.
I want to run android on the device, but i have read, that it will just start from the sd-card, and won't get "installed" or what ever on the device itself.
Is that true?
Second; i also have read, that, after you select the .exe from the sdcard and after you have booted up android, and turn off your device again, you won't get a boot option, if you want to run android, or if you want to run windows mobile.
besides, i'm from germany (you may already have recognized at my bad english...) and i have read, that the european version of the hd2 comes with less ram as the us-version. AND i have read, that you can unlock the ram from about 440mb ~ to the us-version's 576mb ram. is that true and how does that work?
i apologize for my bad english, i have given my best :<
regards.
The SD only android is not true. You have only been reading about starting android from SD using haret under winmo. You can wipe winmo completely and instal a nand android rom to the actual phone, and if you like you can have a second, SD android build dual booting from SD, with magldr offering you the choice.
This will be the most flashable phone any of us are likely to see, winmo, android, wp7, Ubuntu
, dual boot winmo/android, android/android, wp7/android(I think), winmo/android/Ubuntu..... there won't be a phone as opened up any time soon.
448 - 576 ram is true and will happen when you flash 2.08.hspl and then an android compatible radio. It can also be done on winmo by flashing a tmous rom and radio.
Go to the hd2 android section and read the nand subsection.
Quick answer for your first question is that you can start android from sd card but also mostly from nand (internal memory) too :] Depends what you want exactly. Us version of hd2 have more internal memory not ram as far as I know EU version got something like 512mb and US has about 1gb, about ram memory ofcourse you can unlock more ram about 576 with new radio (you can install easy). I dont know anything about exe files didnt try it yet as I bought my hd2 two months ago Hope I helped you a bit

The program you mention is almost 2 years old and created before the Android for HD2 was even developed. You don't have to bother with that program because you will be using magldr. You will get a choice to select an OS from the magldr menu as soon as the phone starts up and before it boots into an OS of your choice. The magldr supports WP7/7.5 and Android SD boot choices for me, as I am sure it does every other combination, just the matter of setting it up to do what you want.
Hi
I just wanted to know what operating system beside windows mobile 6.5 I can install on a HD2 without an SD-card?
I know it's the best to get an SD-card for installing something else than WM6.5, but I get the HD2 tomorrow and the SD-card arrives to the retailer on Monday, so I can't wait to get going. I mostly wanted to install Android 4.x.x on it, but from what I read, it's almost impossible to install Android on it without an SD-card.
Welp, you can't install Android on SD, that's for sure, and installing WP7 without it is not a good idea since the OS takes majority of internal memory and you are left few megabytes. You can also install some old Android ROMs which are distributed not through zips, but through special exe files which are compatible with magldr. The rest (which is all the newer ROMs) needs to be installed through recovery which needs SD card to install it.
