Have you made a nanroid back up?
Make sure you unzip the rom from the right place on your SD card.also try and wipe the cache and reinstall the cm7 rom.
If that doesn't work! I can try and send you one of my old backed up roms.

i did and nothing happen. is there a way i can get to my files via usb?

you won't be able to access files unless you select disc drive, and you can't do that. are you trying to install through hboot?

if you take the battery out of the phone and go to the bootloader screen and boot into the recovery screen and select the nandroid screen you will be able to mount the usb storage from there at least i can from my wildfire, hope this helps you

[Please Help] Looping boot screen

Hi all,
A few months ago I rooted my magic and intalled a hero theme one of the JAChero ones, i believe.
Anyway, while in the phone I selected 'Restore factory settings' from within the options menu. The phone reset and now when it boots it just loops the HERO start up screen over and over.
I have still have the update.zip file I used and all the Nandroid backup stuff - but I don't know what to do with them.
Can anyone help?
normally formatting your sd card back to fat/ext/ls is a quick fix for this issue

update.zip: is just for when you install the rom, once you installed it now it is stored on your device so you no longer need a copy of it on your sd card,
I would personially save that to your computer though incase something like this happens and you dont have a backup but want the same rom then you dont need to search for it, you can simply put it back on your card, wipe, install
nandroid: is the copy of your phone the last time you hit the "backup" button in your recovery screen, you want to leave that on the root of your sd card (where it is now) so that if your phone ever gets messed up you can boot into recovery and do a "restore" (this is why you should always and only do a backup of a rom that is working and that you are happy with )
Hi,
Okay, firstly i've formatted the SD card to FAT/EXT and it's still happening.
I haven't done this in a long time... If I want to restore the phone to the backup do I need to use ADB?
If I boot into recovery mode I get the following options:
reboot system
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
Then at the bottom it says E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Thanks in advance.

your using a hero rom correct? so I'm hoping you just mistyped that because to start your sd card needs to be partitioned to [ FAT32 / EXT2 / Linux Swap ]

No as long as you did a backup and still have the nandroid folder on the root of your sd card, you should be able too boot into recovery, then choose "Nandroid Restore" it should be right under "Nandroid Backup" the one you chose to make the backup in the first place

What recovery img are you using? their normally is a build number somewhere on there [ i.e. Build: RA-magic-v1.2.3H ]
also heres a link to amon's recovery, their s a screen shot at the bottom of the first post of what that recovery looks like and those are the options you should have
RA V1.2.3
Right, I'm going INSANE!
It is a 32A device, so does the card need to be partitioned? Is there a way to partition the card in that way? REMEMBERING i can't do it via an app on the phone as the bloody thing won't get past the Hero boot screen.
I don't have the option to do a 'Nandroid Restore' - I think i used a Daldroid recovery image.
When I plug in the phone via USB, windows recognises it as 'Android 1.0' and won't let me install any USB drivers!!
Right, I can boot the Amon RA recovery image from fastboot.
I've tried fixing the partition of the SD card, but it's still looping.
Can I just flash another ROM now, or would that mess things up?

na you can ive had it happen to me a few times the first time re-formatting the partitions worked and second time it didnt so i just flashed again and it works fine...
if you like the rom your using you could try flash the same one maybe something messed up during the install or you could just flash a whole different one
either way the direction i would go would be
first: format the card to fat32/ext2/ls
second: do a wipe
third: flash
hope that works out for ya

you wouldnt be able to use an app to partition anyway so that doesnt really make a difference but if your going to flash another hero i would use these directions to partition your card and also make sure your card is a class 6 (you can tell by the # inside the circle on the card (not the size i.e. 8gb but there will be a circle with a (2),(4),(6) like that))

you never thought it could happen to you. well today i was flashing a new ROM update and i some how forgot to put the ROM on my phone. wow how the hell did i do that? but thanx to all the threads and people ALWAYS reminding us to wipe, wipe, wipe, and do a nandroid backup i was safe. wow dodged a bullet on that one. anyhow thanx to everyone in the XDA community for all the help and support because no one is perfect, and everyone needs a little help sometimes.

I'm confused...how does your phone work without a rom on it. Or did you wipe everything then try to nandroid?
We're comin from a pure power source.
I forgot to put the new Rom on my phone I was going to flash but did not notice until I wiped everything with a wipe all type of zip and was ready to flash for some reason I could only get to recovery and had to restore with a nandroid back up I don't know why I couldnt just boot up and go back to the Rom I was running anyhow my point is thank god for nandroid back ups

Even if you wiped everything in your recovery, you would have mounted the sd card through recovery, loaded the rom on there, and then flashed it. No need to restore a backup. You do not have to have a rom on there to be able to access the sd card.

I assume you weren't near a computer, because you can still mount the SD card in Mass Storage mode in recovery, to copy over whatever you needed to flash . . .

[Q] Starting Back From Scratch

After a a botched update I now need to reset my phone and start again, I'm using this ROM and the size of the system partition needed has lowered so I'd like to start completely again, where about do I need to start to reset my phone, it currently has ICS on it, do i Task29 then carry on from there?
Thanks

I really don't see the need to start from scratch. I would simply make a CWM backup, flash a new partition size, flash the updated ROM then use CWM to 'restore data partition'. Either this, or use Titanium backup and then restore. Many people recommend full wipes when it is completely unnecessary unless you are experiencing major problems with your phone. It can in fact lead to bad blocks after a while from what I've read.
Sorry its been a while since I set up my phone, how do i flash the new partition size?

Before you flash, make sure to do a Titanium backup at the very least.
It's quite simple, connect the phone to your PC via the USB Flasher mode in MAGLDR, then either use the HD2 NAND Toolkit or a CWM folder to repartition. The NAND toolkit is self explanatory once you launch it, and if you download CWM v5.0.2.6 then enter the folder and find the file flash.cfg (not flash.cfg.txt) and open it with notepad, edit the system partition to the correct size, save it and finally flash with DAF.exe.
Thanks that all went great, however im not sure if this should be the case, i updated to 1.5 and for some reason the menu doesn't have reboot or power off options, how am i supposed to turn off my phone now?

[Solved] P6800 bootloop due to DATA folder corrupted

This morning, I was using the phone and all the sudden, the phone just restart and went in boot loop. I can't break it not even turn OFF. I can't even boot it to Teamwin Recovery too.
I use Desktop Odin to flash my Recovery back to CWM and try to restore my previous backup. The result was failed when the time to restore DATA. This hint me that the DATA folder must be corrupted. Tried to format the DATA folder and restore again and it works!!!!
I'm glad that we have Odin from ChainFire which make us a great tools when we are in panic and helpless state.
I'm also glad that we have CWM which provides us the great option to format a folder.
I'm glad to have the community to provide all the firmware/ROM, tools and every support and helps that's really help and save us from troubles.
Good bless you and may you be well and healthy always...
Thanks.
Just had this happen to me running paranoid android 1.99 on 6800, however when trying to format the data folder in CWM it just goes into boot loop again. Can't reflash rom til I get home, but in the mean time, anyone know of any other fixes/workarounds?

You could try this. Hopefully it work for you. But be warn that you will lost all your data in internal storage.
How do you format the data folder? Simply choose the wipe data/factory setting?

Hello, I used LG Backup to to restore my data, but I'm afraid that since you did a factory reset on your device, you have no data of to restore, UNLESS you backed up some data on your computer and unless your Google account backed up some of your data, but other than that, you have lost all your data.

Next time if anything goes wrong with your device again, backup all your music, photos, videos, etc using LG Backup app on the LG G2, and heres what I did, once LG Backup completed the backup I've made, I go to my computer and plug in my device and set the method to MTP, then I look for a folder called "LG Backup" I copy this file and paste it onto my desktop, and so that once I've factory reseted my device, I can just go to my computer again, plug in my device as MTP, copy the LG Backup file, and paste it into the LG Backup folder that's inside my device, and my personal files will be restored.[emoji4]
