[Q] [CM7RC1] App Installation Issues - HTC Aria General

A week or so ago, I flashed "CyanogenMod-7.0.0-RC1-Liberty" from Rom Manager.
Ever since then, I've been having some issues when installing apps from the Market. Sometimes, installation will fail, giving me the message "Insufficient Storage Space". I checked my settings, and I have quite a bit of space left.
Has this been an issue for anyone else, and does anybody have a solution?

I wouldn't use rom manger at all. Doesn't sometimes work with the aria. Flash rom using your Clockwork recovery. That's a much trusted way.

Oh, really?
I guess I've been doing it wrong all along.
So should I reflash manually?

Yes, I would wipe and reflash from clockwork. Get to it by holding the down volume button while turning on the phone and selecting recovery.

Thanks.
And by "wipe" do you include wiping the delvik cache?

do the wipe data/factory reset in clockwork, then in advanced, wipe dalvik cache.
wiping the cache isn't always required, but it won't hurt you.

[Q] Error wiping dalvik cache

So, i am in the process of changing roms on my iconia, i restore factory defaults, wipe the cache, wipe battery status, and then clear the dalvik cache. when I go to wipe the dalvik cache, i get E:unkown volume for path [/sd-ext]. It proceeds to wipe the dalvik cache and i get no errors when reflashing my rom (taboony) or installing villans custom kernel. It flashes everything correctly but when I load my iconia, i get a fc when loading super user. I reinstalled iconia root which temporaroly fixed my fc, but after reboot again i get fc when loading su and no fix. Any idea whats happening and how I can fix it. Sorry about the typos here, using a netbook and have sore wrists.
The Error message you get is no problem because you dont have an ext Partition on you SD card. And if there is no ext Partition the recovery will not find it and gives you this message so dont worry about this.
Because of superuser: Go to Rom Manager and choose "fix permissions" and let it do its thing. Normaly this helps with FCs.
If this does not help. Go to settings - applications - manage applications - search for superuser and delete all Data at superuser app.
I hope it helps.

Sure thing fixed permissions solved my fC issue. Thanks much

Help with Cyanogensmod 2.3.5 nightly

I have cyanogen mod 7.1.0 RC 1-vision installed on G2 already. Can somebody explain to me how I get to v 2.3.5? I know it has something to do with nightly builds and xboarder56. Im just a little confused on how and what order to flash things. Do I have to install every Nightly update or will the newest one be fine? And exactly what it xboarder56? Is that a modification of Cyanogensmod?
Thanks Sean.....
just install the newest nightly and youll have 2.3.5
xboarder56 is a guy that made a thread on how to install the stock launcher over the ADWlauncher
but you can alternately download a gingerbread launcher from the market and install it
Wipe, and flash the newest nightly just how you flashed RC1
Sent from my T-mobile G2 using Tapatalk
download the latest nightly, put on your SDcard
1) enter recovery (power button -> reboot -> 'recovery')
2) 'backup and restore' -> backup current ROM
3) wipe cache, advanced -> wipe dalvik cache
4) 'Install zip from SDcard' -> Flash nightly.zip
5) reboot
6) fix permissions (ROM manager -> 'fix permissions'
7) reboot again
xboarder56 is a dev on here. he makes several different mods for CM7. The main one that people use is to put the stock GB launcher on CM7. CM7 by default has ADW launcher, but some prefer the stock one. Xboarder56 isn't the only one that has a stock launcher.zip available.
If you want the stock launcher, check the post in my sig. follow the directions carefully if you intend to re-flash nightlies and want to keep your screen placement.
Do I have to download each nightly build? Or can I skip builds from time to time? Are these beta builds? and if so any idea on a final version?
Thanks... Sean...

You can download and install every nightly. But you dont HAVE to. There is a group that only flashes one every few weeks. Either way you will be fine but if you want to be on the cutting edge of new features i would recommend installing it every day. For our phone specifically they come out between 115 am and 130 am. Like said above, wipe cache wipe dalvik install nightly fix permissions reboot with each nightly

Dalvik cache is under advanced. I believe if you're not running Apps2SD you can go without it.

Apps2SD has nothing to do with the Dalvik cache. Wipe it regardless of whether or not you use Apps2SD (which is unneeded unless ur still on a G1).

They are effectively beta builds. They're not official and not necessarily meant for the general flashing community, as they often contain bugs and untested changes.

like I said above, its under advanced -> wipe dalvik cache.
It has nothing to do with Apps2SD. On a related note, there's no need to run Apps2SD unless you have several gigantic games or something filling up internal memory. You should have more than enough internal memory to keep all apps on the phone itself.
When I wipe my Dalvik Cache, CWM says it cannot find the drive/partition for it. Its never caused a problem for me. I assumed it was due to sdcard partitions, which I used to use for Swap and Apps2SD only. Is it an internal memory partition for performance related caching? If so somethings messed up with my partitions.

What exactly is it saying? usually it will throw an error about SD-EXT. disregard the error.
For me when I flash new ROMs I use Superwipe+ to do all my wiping in one step. Its quick and effective.
Check it out:

Each and every morning, I make it my habit to launch Rom Manager (paid version), and select 'Check for updateds'. After it tells me there's an update available, I approve it and select to download (via wifi) gapps. Once it done downloading it then prompts me to choose wipe data & cashed, backup existing rom, or wipe dalvik cashe. I always select wipe Dalvik cashe, then I approve it to power off.
Bamb! easy sneesy .. My nightly rom gets updated!

I had the same question as the OP. I've been running CM v.7.1 RC1 for a while now and I love it. But I would like to check out the nightlies. Just so I am clear, to go from my current ROM to the latest nightly, I only need to to wipe cache and dalvik cache - and that's it? Somehow I thought the process was more difficult. I thought I'd have to restore my apps with TB and reconfigure all my settings...
And one last quick question. I've never needed to run 'fix permissions.' The sole FC I get is with LauncherPro, but only when I reboot. It doesn't bother me, and it seems like I've read about users who have problems after running the 'fix permissions' in RM. Can anyone elaborate on why that might be?
Thanks so much, guys.

upgrading from an older version of CM7 to a Nightly you don't have to wipe data. Just cache/dalvik and flash the nightly.

Fixing permissions is just a good rule of thumb to follow after flashing a new ROM so all your apps are setup properly. I haven't heard of Fix Permissions breaking anything.

Can't Clean Dalvik?

Everytime when i open Clockwordmod Recovery to change a rom, every rom suggests to clean cache, clean Dalvik, do back up etc.
First time when i cleaned dalvik it worked.
The time after that, it completely froze on me. Since then, 4 or 5 roms later, i still can't clean my dalvik cache.
Also: After one of the roms, I no longer have the access to the 8th option in Mgldr. It says "invalid boot image sequence" or something along the lines of that, so I have to use the boot ad sd option instead.
Any help please?

You should task 29 before install other ROM
Or, in CWM choose "wipe data factory reset" which wipes all the partitions except system. (Therefore including the dalvik) then flash new rom.

Cannot flash any ROM's

Hello, I have recently been unable to flash ROM's succesfully.
I have Clockwork MOD 4.0.0.2 installed as it came with CF-Root, and I am on stock 2.3.5 KI3.
I have tried flashing several roms, and while it says install complete, whenever it restarts, it is on a boot loop, where it won't go past the Galaxy S II bit with the yellow triangle, I have to flash the stock rom again using odin to even use the phone, I have tried to flash other recovery versions, like 4.0.0.14 and 5.1.2.6 (I think it is) but they all come up with errors mounting or getting recovery.log or something, could you please help?
Did you try to do a full wipe?
Most issues can be resolved by this.
In the CWM menu chose the factory reset/full wipe. (Don't worry it won't touch your files on the internal SD card)
Do a cache wipe and in the advanced menu do a dalvik cache wipe.
Some recommend to do this procedure twice, but you should be settled with doing it once
Let me know if it helped?

Yeah I did all that, didn't help, the progress bar gets half way and says complete :S I have downloaded the ROMs several times aswell incase they were corrupt, still didn't help.
Take out the battery, wait a bit, put it back in. Do all the wipe and formatting procedures (perhaps twice) and format the internal sd card as well and wipe the battery stats (just to be sure)

[Q]

CAN ANYBODY HELP ME PLEASE? PHONE STUCK AT RED M LOGO.
While being on Maniac's 25/04 build I decided to run V6 Supercharger. After I tried to run it got a message that it didn't have superuser rights although I pressed alow. The system got slow and I decided to reboot. It got hanging at the red M logo for a few min. Tried with Vol+- and power and after the blue and green lights it keep hanging on the red M logo. I decided to reflash the nightly but when I pres power button at the blue light I don't get to the CWM menu. Tried it 3 times without any effect. Funny thing is that I can still charge the phone. Does anyone have a idea what to do and spare me starting everything from the beginning? Any help is deeply appreciated!!!
can you boot into the recovery menu and wipe the caches and things??
hold volume down then the power button and this should get you into the stock recovery but you can still do a factory reset in there by doing a data wipe then clear cache and dalvik cache.
Not sure this will work and it will wipe all your data and apps but it may recover the system and make it boot.
Edit: maybe just try to wipe the cache first before doing factory reset, This will keep all your apps and data.

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately wiping cache on stock recovery didn't help, and if I do a factory reset I'll wipe out everything including 2nd init and cwm. It looks like I have to start with RSD and Froyo again.
yeah it sucks loosing all the apps and setting everything back up again but sometimes it has to be done.
I done it alot before I fully knew what I was doing. Flashing roms and RSD with the wrong kernels and all was frustrating to say the least

You get to CWM with VOL DOWN! And you should make a wipe cache /dalwik from CWM, not stock recovery as you did... You can try make a wipe cache, wipe dalwik cache from CWM, but maybe CWM got corrupted because of wipe cache you did from stock recovery...
If so, you you should make a factory reset from stock recovery, and start again with superoneclick, 2ndinit, CWM... Etc
If you flash custom roms you can forget stock recovery, everything is done from CWM! I've not seen my stock recovery for half year, flashing custom roms from CWM...
Good luck!
