I have recently upgraded to CM7. It's great, but the only problem is WhatsApp isn't working. Everytime I enter my details the application crashes and I have to force close it.
Can someone please tell me what I can do.... I have tried Titanium Backup to restore it, however it doesn't work. I want to stick with CM7 but I'll have to revert to CM6 if I cannot resolve this problem...

WhatsApp works here on CM7. (Or atleast, worked. I got over it and uninstalled it. )

ive got whatsapp working fine on cm7, even with the latest update of the app
yea, cm 7 has problems with whatsapp.. i had it backupped so did a restore so got it running now... but when i got into my contacts and want to look someone's info that has whatsapp also the contacts app crashes. The problem has to be the whatsapp sync in the account settings. When i remove that whatsapp works fine and i can open up all my contacts/ But the account sync turns back by itself. so the problems keeps comming... hope they fix it soon.
Im running the latest nightly 223 with whatsapp and for me its just working fine, no problems and crashes at all.
I had one FC also after that I FC I just started again and it worked like a charm

I downloaded and flashed 'cm-11-20140922-NIGHTLY-jflte' (which I know is not as stable as a snapshot but the snapshot was stuck in a reboot loop when I installed it so I had to revert to the nightly) onto my previously stock phone and everything is fine, I can't believe I haven't had a custom rom sooner. However, the ONE app I have problems with is Facebook Messenger; it opens, but crashes when it goes to load my details in and force closes from that point on. It wouldn't be such an issue if I could still interact with people through the Facebook app, but you're forced to use the Messenger app, which seriously will not work at all for some reason.
I've tried reflashing the ROM, clearing the data and cache, cloaking the fact that the device is rooted, installing an earlier version of Messenger and just about everything I could think of. I'm at a complete loss, I don't know what's wrong. I thought maybe something to do with it accessing my contacts or something but I'm really not sure.
Any help will be appreciated, it seems stupid but Messenger is an important part of my phone, I use it daily, so if I can't get this figured out I might have to go back to stock. Thanks in advance guys!
PROBLEMI have been using my oneplus two for like 2 months and i did not face any issues. After the latest 2.1.2 update, after a few days my apps started crashing. Only a few did not crash, my Facebook, messenger, uc browser, 9gag and all my games crash, when i open them their is either a black or white screen and then it crashes
THINGS I DID first i booted into stock recovery and wiped data and cache. This did not work and the problem still Persisted.
Then i factory rest my phone. This worked and all my apps were back to normal. Untill it happened again today and i do not want to go through the hassle to factory reset again.
Is anyone facing these issues?
Can any dev get me a solution for this problem.

Same here updated to 2.1.2. my gmail crashes after opening any mail.i was gone mad through formating and settings up my OPT daily one or three times.i have sent email to google but no reply.
After one week i have decided to root my OPT.i have rooted and installed Unofficial Temasek Based CM 12.1(ROM @ WebCS).Believe me it has no any crash and best rom i have ever used.this rom has 2 bugs.fingerprint sensor and laser autofocus.
After using CM 12.1 i have restored my nandroid backup of oxygen OS.
Now all the app crashing has gone.i am using OPT as my daily driver.
Hello so I was using snapprefs so with that Said, I did a backup of sc and downgraded the app and restored data and everything worked fine intill One Day snapchat wouldnt update/refresh my snaps so and so updated the snapchat again and proceeded to repeat the original steps but no matter how much Ive tried fixing the problem i End up with having to be forced to update to the latest snapchat for me to accses all my snapchats I get.
Any1 More them Me with this problem?

Recently I am facing a problem. My whatsapp keeps on crashing.. And every time it's ask for restoring chat history and it only restores from previously backed up data.. Like today's 2 am back up and chats after that won't show.
Any solution for this..why it is getting crashed so frequently (daily 5 to 6 times) this happens.
Pls help

How we can say anything with so little information?
Provide more information about your setup (rooted, any modifications, etc.)
Is it latest version of whatsapp ?
When it started to happen ? (After doing something, installed anything ? )
Is there any parallel activity running when crashes ?
You said it crashes 5-6 times, so does it work fine for other times ?
Detail are the important key to solve the problem as every phone is unique in its own solution may or may not work.
Also after hearing you ill suggest dont use backup files and start a fresh whatsapp.
I assume you don't have root(as you are backing up using cloud and this is also my assumption as you didn't mentioned any type of backup).
So dont use backup just start a fresh whatsapp and see if it still persists.

It seems other apps are crashing too?
In such situation, factory reset is better to do.
before proceeding, take backup of your stuff (photos, videos, everything from internal storage, it will also erase every app's data )
If you want whatsapp backup, take it also from internal storage (keep latest one only, from /whatsapp/database/ , remove olders.) Put it back as it is after factory reset, then see what happens.
No other apps are crashing... But, yes i will factory reset and see if the problem gets cleared....

I see your problem and after a little bit of search. Use your backup to backup chats only and nothing else. Clear data of whatsapp. Start and see if it is still there.
Or
Do the same things and dont restore backup at start. Just let app runs then from setting restore the backup.

My phone is samsung galaxy tab 2 P3100 is rooted and i am using slim rom unofficial 6.01 build 2.5 by andi(hope enough info or should i give more) and i have TWRP recovery. have formatted my phone and flashed 2 ROms slim rom 6.0 build 2.1 stable and the present one. (whatsapp problem is same on both)
i started using original whatsapp on my tab which was unrooted using android 4.5...never had issues with orginal whatsapp .started using gb whatsapp from FOdmods, and had issues..every time after a week my whatsapp was crashing n i was getting a message of "backup data corrupted" and asked me to restore. i restored and as such lost chats of the day as the backup from 2am was restored.
I rooted my phone and installed whatsapp again but again the same issues.
trying other fods namely FMWATSAPP, FOUDMODSWHATSAPP,WHATSAPP,FOUDWHATSAPP AND YOWHATSAPP(all old and the latest vesrions too). HAD ISSUES on all of them namely.. in v5.90 GBwhatsapp(and all previous versions) the backup data is getting corrupted and evry week had to restore the data back and looisng loosing chats and data.
in other mods, suddenly the app used to go in a loop for more then 24 hours and kept on swicthing on to the app main screen and as such i couldnt use whatsapp for 24 hours. it would remain fine for 2-4 hours or sometime 12 hours and the problem started all over gain.
reverted back to orginal whatsapp and it has the same "chat backup getting corrupt" issue. can u please help me what may b the problem
Note-not an issue if not answered but wanted to bring to your notice.
in original whatsapp the goggle account associated with the phone is being shown and the data is getting backupped on to the gmail account associated. in gb whatsapp and all other mods it is just showing the gmail account but is not allowing u to backup ur data on gmail. the error message i get is please check ur wifi or phone network inspite of my internet working perfectly fine.

DUDE I SAW DAT n this is my same problem in a 3rd thread. i blv ths problem is not phone specific or android specific....coz i have given all details mentioning the rom version yep my phone is same. moreover the same issue i have seen in another thread , so the total comes to 3 different phone modesl..different android versions. i believe the problem seems to b wth some small bug or some wrong installation. or some thing i have been doing causing this problem.hope u c my point.thanks again

-force stop WhatsApp then go to setting -apps-all apps -select 3 dots on upper side -reset app preferences and reboot
But it is temporary soln
Change ROM is best solution.

Same issue. Whatsaspp suddenly stopped working from 2 days. Tried uninstalling and resinstalling new version , did phone hard reset as well, but still it is not working. Just white screen appears for a second on loading and reverts to phone home screen. Please help.

I was facing the same issue after recently updating my whatsapp version from google store. I think there is some compatibility issue with latest version of whatsapp on Cynogenmod. I have Cynogenmod 12.1 installed OTA on my YU Yureka long time back. Not rooted.
Somehow I was able to get a workaround for this.
Below are the steps done.
1. Take backup of current installation through any 3rd party backup apps. I used All-in-one toolbox app's Backup/Restore feature.
2. Uninstall current version of whatsapp. Delete Whatsapp folder from device using file explorer.
3. Download older version of whatsapp. I downloaded version 2.17.443 from https_://whatsapp-messenger.en.uptodown.com/
4. Change system date to February 10, 2018. Since the above version got obsolete on 19th February 2018. Otherwise, whatsapp will keep showing you version upgrade screen and wont proceed.
5. After setting system date to old date in my phone. When I opened whatsapp, I was able to configure my number and start the whatsapp. It searched for messages backup on cloud and downloaded latest one available. Few messages were lost but I started receiving all messages that were sent in last 2 days since my whatsapp wasnt working.
Its a bit pain in ass, since changing systems date in phone means all your new sms and calendar events stuff etc will go on a toss.
I am looking for a way where we can avoid this version check in whatsapp so that we can happily use older version without upgrading and without changing system date.
You can even use whatsapp web while your whatsapp is working and then reset your systems date back to current one.
If anyone finds a crack to this version check in whatsapp then pls do share.

I also performed same factory reset and same issue is there with whatsapp. Now few more issues started coming up like unable to save contacts, device reboot takes 9hrs , many tabs/options are invisible, unable to register mobile on YU as url has been changed. Do I need to install any custom ROM or uninstall Cyanogen. Please help!
Just uninstall the latest version of whatsapp and Download & install 2.17.427 version of whatsapp. It is working fine. There is no need to change the date-time.
I am facing the same issue with many other latest apps like paytm, phonepe, ES file explorer etc on Yureka.
Same problem occurs in my yureka device.
When I opened whats app, my device got bricked ,stucked at cyanogen logo.

Try to uninstall the latest version of WhatsApp and then download & install V2.17.426 of WhatsApp.
