Its on every damn page and it is so annoying. I'm find with popups as long as they don't prevent me from seeing whats on the page, I wouldn't even mind ads but a sticky popup at the bottom of my page is just ridiculous. Anyone else getting these?

Yep. Annoying that it pops up on every single page you open. Ads... they invade us everywhere.

Ya I might just start using my phone to browse XDA because this is ridiculous. I've tried Chrome (Mac), Chrome (Windows), ChromeOS, Safari, Firefox (Mac), Firefox (Windows), Internet Explorer 8, and Opera (Mac). This all started last night and I'm just baffled. Like I said, I'm all for using ads to support the website as I'm sure its not cheap to run XDA but this popup is a sticky at the bottom of the screen, reloads on every page and nullifies the clickable area where it was after its been closed.
Edit: I added a screenshot to the OP.
Good to reason to use Firefox, those pop-up sucks big time. Super annoying

But they still come up on Firefox for me. I can't figure out how these aren't being blocked...it seems to be an embedded image because clicking on it brings up an embedded page...Its ****ing annoying as ****.

Firefox with the adblock plugin. Works amazing.

Hah, I've been browsing the site for awhile and didn't even notice that it is gone.
Kind of like how my right-click hangs my Canary Google Chrome but I still do it every couple of seconds =/
Back to normal Google Chrome until that is fixed!

The internet is unusable without adblock. Its available for chrome and Firefox.

HUH?!?! Works amazing on my Diamond!!!
Thanks for the update! Is there anyway to transfer all my bookmarks from Opera Mini 4.2 to this new browser?
When install it say that "No working network connection detected", but i have wifi connection. Can someone help me?
Would be great to not having to launch jbed everytime... Anyway to make an icon in the startmenu to launch Opera mini... I have it set up for the previous Opera mini but with an ugly icon, this new version seems to have a new fresh icon aswell...
wow 1000x .... just got to try it to believe it. now.. how do you make this a shortcut, or better yet the default browser.
Can install it on a winmo 6.5.1.
Receive an error message regarding authorisation failure !!!
Any Idea ????
Any idea how to make the clock that was in 4.2 reappear?
I just can't beleive this!!!!! why does it even need to have opera mobile now.....
Its just near to perfect, beleive me!!
It's very good but unfortunately doesn't seem to have an option to sync bookmarks like the old one did. Also, I'm not sure how to create an icon for it. Anyone know?

might i remind you that this is a beta.. this is exactly what betas are for, to demonstrate the concept and then apply changes according to the majority's requests.
It's really good and fast.
Problems:
1) not so easy to zoom in sometimes. Maybe it's just me, i don't know, but in some pages I cannot zoom in.
2) when you zoom in, the text doesn't auto fit the screen as the opera 9.5 does. So you have to pan to read articles especially in portrait mode.
Maybe somebody know how I can delete page from speed dial from Opera 5 beta?

lol we really cant see gifs can we? LOL GOOGLE!!! make a protocol that converts gifs to a special format and patent it lol
And even if we can't in the browser you would think just looking at them after saved would show the animation but thats not the case. Even the basic phones can, like cheapo flips....
Good idea on the app wish I knew how, get on that and give me part of your earnings.lol. j/k
For playing animated GIF:
1. Download Opera Mobile (non Opera Mini)
2. enter in the address bar
file:
3. Select your gif
It works without HTC Sense
Either using CM or compiling Android yourself will allow you to view animated gifs just fine in the browser and has so for quite a while. I've not tried animated gifs outside the browser though. It was originally disabled because of the memory consumption as far as I know.
we can't??
I've been watching gifs on my Nexus One for quite a long time already...
Never tried on stock but def works on CM

Whats not relevant? People are having problems viewing animated GIF files. I cant. I keep hearing that im supposed to be able to with cm6.1 rc1 installed. Still cant.
I keep reading about viewing files in the browser. Can i open a file i have stored on my sd in browser? Why cant i open the file from my gallery? Certain setting im missing? Been searching around and really cant find any answers. If someone has a link or some sort of info to help out that would be great. thnx

Cool thnx.
OK so you're using adfree or a custom hosts file to block ads.
Great but, now in place of the ads theres an upside down green android and a bunch of crap about the webpage being unavailable!
This isn't always true, but an example is youtube.com
Try going on there with your phone and there should be two or more spots where the frame tries to lead you to a hosts banned location.
This results in a bunch of webpage unavailable errors.
So what I did was I edited the html and optimized the android guy (transparent background) so it only shows him, but no text!
With this update when your browser tries to access an ad that can't be loaded you'll get this.
Heres an example of this on youtube (much more elegant huh?).

Visiting an actual page that doesn't work will give you this.
I think the best part is that this is also true of ads within apps.
Instead of a never-ending load symbol or an actual ad you just get a cute upside down android guy. See below.
Just flash this over your ROM.
Tested only with DC 3.2.3, but should work with most/all roms.
I am not responsible if this causes your phone to explode etcetera.
Note: Replaces framework-res, could kill themes..
Good work! good work! Thank you!
You should add a readme.txt file explaining installation though
Nice idea. I am trying this out most definitely. Much cleaner.
Edit: Hmm, noticed that this replaces framework-res.apk. This will change themes installed on the phone. Maybe a MetaMorph for this would be a better idea?
Good point, hadn't considered that. I have never used metamorph, ill look into it though..

It would play nice with the plethora of customized themes out now.
I simply just looked at what you changed, pulled my framework-res.apk, put your files in, and pushed the framework-res.apk back in. Worked like a charm.
Sorry for the double post, but xda app won't let me edit in attachments. Confirmed, and it is aesthetically awesome. Thanks again.

Wow man I hope you can get this to work with themes. I would hate to break my custom theme on my evo.
I flashed this over DC 3.2.3 and it didn't work. Did I miss something?
Never mind. I'm a dumb-ass.
I never get the annoying android cannot find image, I always just get a spinning wheel where the ad should be.
If you can't get it working with your theme, link me to it and ill put up a working version.

This will replace that with the static green Android image.
I prefer it because the loading sign is distracting and misleading.
Try YouTube. It always gives me those errors.
Also note that this isn't going to work with every ad and its not supposed to.
Only with those which try to access a blocked url
Will this work with CM6?
custom ROM not an option here
niiice
how can this be had on either
Droid X: froyo OTA
or
Droid X: gingerbread .602 OTA
is there perhaps a loopback proxy app that I can run analogous to the windoze application: eDexter (used with hosts adblocking)
proxomitron for android?
eDexter for android?

Same here. And it looks like from your screenshots, flash is blocked. I don't get that same screenshot, even on the latest adfree with latest hosts update. My loading of youtube shows everything.
I wake up this morning with a green "+" in my notification bar. So i scroll down the bar and to my dismay its an advertisement.... Adware on my phone! As I'm sure most of you woke up to the same thing, if you updated to the Play Store. Turns out Play store by default has a setting enabled called "admob ads"
I guess it doesnt collect data on how to advertise things for you, so its not technically adware, but pretty damn annoying.
I use my phone for work almost all day long. I barley can stand it when I see google maps show an ad when I search for a clients address.
The ad mob setting has been there for awhile. I have always had it disabled so no adware for me.

Isn't adware defined by the action of displaying ads rather than collecting data - hence the name adware...
or is my logic too... logical?
Regardless, here is Google's official statement, from the "learn more" link in the admob settings: http://www.google.com/ads/preferences/html/mobile-about.html
It says the exact opposite of your assertion - the admob preference is explicitly to decide whether ads are based on your interests, with no option to stop the collection of data. That setting only decides if the ad server has access to the data, which will be collected either way.
Also, it only pertains to apps that display ads within, with no mention of ads in the status bar - yours had to have been caused by something external to google play; it has nothing to do with the admob preferences. Be sure to confirm this when your next popup occurs, okay? Thanks in advance
EDIT: Here is a screenshot of the Play store's settings screen:
[The new XDA app doesn't seem to upload images properly... stand by for correction via computer...]
It clearly shows that activating the option, rather than turning ads on or off, will decide whether the ads that will be displayed either way are generic or personalized

100% it's this. There was a live wallpaper which downloaded the AirPush adware bull****. The removal app on the market worked flawlessly. I keep it still to use when I download any app. The app I got it from came from the Amazon Market...
I'm looking for an application that allows force-closing running applications, as its running down the memory and making the performance slow down. I'm not a huge fan of slowdowns, if anyone know of such a app, please type in it the comments below.
Thanks!
..
Thanks you for providing me this download link. I will try this out when I get home tonight, looking forward to seeing it work. Why don't you submit it to the Google Play Store?
..
id be willing to try this when i get home as well. what app did you modify exactly? id like to look into it on the play store before i get home and install yours on my shield.
..
Hey man so i got to play with this a little bit last night. Thanks so much! It will definitely help when im testing out new apps and troubleshooting issues. But to be honest, using the app last night made me realize something......
The shield is pretty damn good at managing ram on its own. With no easy way to force close apps prior to the app you provided, I just let shield take care of it, assuming all my running apps that i didnt force close on my own, were using up all my free ram available. But last night when using your app, each time i tried to "kill all" i only got a meager 100-200MB free, at best. Even with all the apps running, i still had like over 1gig, usually 1.5, available. its awesome.
But yeah, still keeping this app for messing with stuff. Thanks.
Awesome, I'll give it a try too. It always annoys the hell out of me that I have to go into settings then apps then go through all my installed apps just to kill a frozen app. It would be awesome if someone could implement the "hold back to kill app" that is in most ROMs.
Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk
The file for your modified app is no longer working, any chance of reuploading this please?
2017 and still no android Nokia until "autumn" in UK for my Sony TV to fix this.
Thanks
