Hi all,
(I'm reposting this here as no-one replied in the general forum.)
In the app I'm developing I will need to be able to send arbitrary files (probably many at a time) to known and previously paired bt-enabled devices. Is there any way to bypass the discovery dialogue and the devices list by somehow providing a registered intent with the address of a device, say, through a putExtra call? In other words, I will already know the bt mac addresses, so I won't be needing the extra discovery and user input.
Downloading an alternative bt app that is capable of this would also work for me. So far I've tried to use the services offered by both "androbex" and "bluetooth file transfer" but with no luck.
I'm developing for a Samsung Tab, android-8.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!
No idea anyone? I'd really appreciate some help with this one.

RE: bluetooth
i was wondering if it is possible to send a message using bluetooth, like with the Nokia phones, where you search for a bluetooth device nearby, and then send a message.
also, when my device is paired up with my computer, i can not seem to be able to use more than one connection, e.g.: if i'm using my bluetooth headset, i can't sync the Himalaya. i was wondering if it is normal or not.
in connection with bluetooth and the computer, i can't see any service other than these two: "OBEX Object Push" and "SSA"
are these the only two service available from the device, or are there more?
thanks in advance...
p.s.: i use a Widcomm stack for my D-Link bluetooth dongle
Hi,
To chat with other devices, you can use:
http://www.mysql.com/downloads/mysqlcc.html
Depending on your settings, you normally can use more services at once from your computer...
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=449
Hope this helps...
Sam
hey,
the MySQL thing is not available for the Himalaya, only for a desktop PC.
i looked through the website of geekzone, but i could not find anything about multiple bluetooth connections
thanks for your help tho...
NfScLambo
PocketBlueChat.exe
hmm...can i know what the program is, and how good it is, according to experiences, so as not to mess up my brand new Himalaya, pls?
also, i went and googled on the program and found this out:
Before downloading pocketBlueChat, make sure you meet all the prerequisites:
PocketPC 2002 Device
Bluetooth capable device

Click to collapse
does this mean that it won't work on my Himalaya?
Hi,
Sorry for the MySQL-link... The wrong link was on my clipboard... :?
I posted too fast...
I wanted to enter the link of PocketBlueChat (the other post)...
You can find some more information on http://www.thegedanken.com/Bluechat/ (this should be the right one)... Sorry...
It works great! The only problem is that the other client also needs BlueChat, but it's only one "exe", so you can beam it to your other contact!
Sam
o ok
i was hoping for something like nokia's bluejacking system
you send a person a contact through bluetooth, and this contact contains a message. i see that's not possible by default, but i wonder if there is an add on for it

Hi all,
I am writing an app in which both the WiFi connection and GPRS connection are available for use at the same time. I am working on a WinMobile 6 HTC Wizard in USA on T-Mobile network.
When I have both connections open, I am able to access the WiFi but not the GPRS (faster connection I imagine). Does anybody have any ideas on how I could leverage using both connections, binding sockets on each?
Any help in this area is greatly appreciated. I don't know much about the CommManager in WinMobile, but if anybody knows any way for me to *possibly* be able to use both connections, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Nick
As far asa I know, WM defaults to the strongest connection available, but some apps are very stubborn about using the WiFI unless it's the only thing available. I'm not a PPC developer, so I'm sorry I can't offer any more insight, but there should be no reason that you couldn' code your app to use both of the connections.
i dont think that is even possible in my opinion but that would drain the battery fast.
I'm definitely wrong by calling it the CommManager, thats just the user interface on WM to select which communications you want open. I meant ConnManager, which is the Connection Manager, which I've learned about here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb416435.aspx
I do think its possible, but unclear how to access the Connection Manager API. If anyone has any background with programming using the Connection Manager API, I'd greatly appreciate some help in the form of example source code. Also, if anyone has ported a C++ library to C# before, I could use some assistance with that. The Connection Manager API is in the connmgr.h file which I've attached here, and I want to be able to use it in C#. I wish to use this on the mobile device and don't know exactly the best way to go about doing this.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick
Hello all,
I use the remote desktop on my HD2 to connect to different servers/PCs for clients that I support, but it appears that it only saves the last used connection details so I have to enter the 'computer' name and login details fresh each time I want to connect to another system...
The computer entry box appears like a combo box with the drop down arrow but I have not found a way of making it store multiple entries... I've searched the forums and elsewhere but have not found the same question asked (and therefore answered) so figure either most people only ever connect to the one system or I am missing something so blindingly obvious that no-one else has needed to ask so I must be an idiot...
Anyone know how to save multiple remote desktop connection entries? Thanks in advance for any pointers.
Rocky.
Hi,
not sure if this is the best place for this question, if not please redirect me.
MS have recently introduced the requirement of a passcode when pairing BT devices. Can this be disabled in any way.
Thanks
Jake
Try 2003 or 0000
The pairing code is requested by the other device, so look in the manual of this. A usual simple code is 0000 for many devices.
hi thanks for your replies.
I've perhaps been a tad vague, let me add some more info.
PREVIOUSLY....
when adding a Zebra QL220plus via bluetooth to a Motorola Symbol MC5590 with Windows Mobile 6.* the requirement to enter a PASSCODE never occurred...ever
Now when using
Zebra QL 220plus (as above) via BT to a MC55A0 with Windows Mobile 6.5 the requirment to enter a PASSCODE keeps coming up. Even though authentication on the Zebra printer is disabled
I just cannot figure out whether it's the OS or the mobile unit.
This problem has been passed down to me to resolve even though I was not previously responsible for the setup. So if I come across as inept at any point you now know why
There could be an option on the device like "require secure connection" or alike - remove that. You find it when setting up the outgoing serial link (or probably other service) towards a certain device. Usually the passcode for pairing indicates such a secure connection afaik. It is then still a matter of the device if such non secure connections would mutually be allowed. Good luck...

Hi Tobbbie,
I'm guessing when you refer to 'device' you are talking about the printer. I can confirm that the Bluetooth settings on the printer are as:
Authentication = off
Encryption = off
there are no other options available from the printers main display that would have anything to do with security.
As to the MC55A Handheld I cannot find anything to disable with regards to authentication/encryption/passcodes etc. I did come across something about registry editing but I would really like to avoid that option if at all possible; although if that turns out to be my ONLY option.....
Thanks
Jake
No, with device I meant the handheld. So it seems you have no choice but to contact the handheld vendor. Mind that the handheld has to support the printer profile (BPP, I think) to succesfully connect to the printer via BT.
I cannot give any further advice here, sorry + good luck
Hello XDA developers,
I am new here. I am sorry if I'm posting this on the wrong section.
I have undertaken a project entitled Bluetooth Hotspot. As the title suggests it follows the same principle as WiFi hotspot but shares internet through Bluetooth. I have seen Foxfi, PdaNet, BlueDUN, etc none of them seems to work. Because after connecting the Bluetooth devices the applications just start broadcasting(both systems cant be server right?). But BlueDUN seems promising but it works for computers not other android devices. Is there any other way to share internet between two android mobile phones(not tablets) through Bluetooth? Or can I reuse any of the application's code?
[INFO] Before I started this project I had the idea of developing a proxy server on one mobile and proxy client on another mobile so the internet packets can be shared as Bluetooth packets. But I don't know where to start with that idea. If anyone can point to any ideas, tutorials, references, guidance I would greatly appreciate it.
Sorry if my English is bad. Waiting for your answers. Thanks in advance.
