Hi all,
I have an issue with my HTC Magic (Rogers' 32A), I am pretty pessimistic about being able to fix it, but if I don't ask I will never know
So here's the problem:
My phone fell in the water.
I took it out, removed the battery, let it dry.
Now everything is working fine except the USB connection, when I plug it to a PC via USB there is no notification, but the phone charges fine.
Basically I don't see the USB device and the can't browse the sd card, I have to take it out and use a card reader.
Also I can't adb, fastboot etc...
Other weird thing happening, when the phone is off the screen is always on, I have to remove the battery for the screen to completely shut off.
When the system is running, when I press the END/Hang Up key, the screen shuts off normally
It seems like a Hardware issue, that's why I don't think there is a (easy) way to fix it.
But I am asking here just in case.
Thank you.
sounds like a hardware issue...
Thank you, that's what I tought...
I ordered a screwdriver for the phone... gonna try to clean up the inside...
Anyone knows if there's a tutorial on how to take the phone appart and putting it back together with out breaking anything ?
check out this thread for service manuals with full tear down info, page 2 specifically for the download link (phandroid), the links on page 1 are dead now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=490774
also you can google magic service manual and find tons of links..
good luck, hope you can get your magic fixed
Go into terminal and see if you can manually mount it
$su
#mount /sdcard
___________________________
If that doesnt work, you might want to search for the /dev/block
that enables it internally.. Its around here, but im too lazy to look and link.
x) hope that helps you..
I got the PDF, that's exactly what i was looking for, I shall try it when I get the tools.
I tried the mount technique but it failed:
Code:
mount: mouting /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard failed: Device or resource busy
Thanks guys for all your help.
no, just
$su
#mount /sdcard
thats it lol no dev

yes, that's what I did.
I just pasted the result.
sorry should have been more specific.
like this :
Code:
$su
#mount /sdcard
mount: mouting /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard failed: Device or resource busy
#
Ok, I finally got to disassemble the phone, clean up and blow away the dust/dirt.
And it seems like it fixed the USB issue, I am able to see the usb drive, adb, fastboot, etc...
But the screen is still back lit when the phone is turned off...
Anyways
Thanks for all you help guys.
hello all and hope someone can help me, my problem is wanting to load a rom xperia 2.3.5 x10 with gingerbread with xrecovey root and installed, choose the rom from the restore I get the error E: can not mount / dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or/dev/block/mmcblk0) (device or resource busy)
can not mount / sdcard. I've done all the steps to the right and backwards and nothing works for me. thanks
I left my TPT unattended for two days on.
When I've tried to use it again I got a message that Encryption did not end correctly to make a reset to original values.
This was strange and because recovery was not working I did tried that step as well without success.
Due to low battery, I manage to access settings and came to realize that there are strange certificates install like TURKTRUST Digital Certificate which I came to realize is reported to be a virus http://eromang.zataz.com/2013/01/04/fraudulent-turktrust-digital-certificat-used-in-active-attacks/
In recovery I see that I cannot mount the internal SD or data. I can connect trough ADB but I'm not an expert able to use it properlly.
Any ideas on how to recover my TPT?
Thanks in anticipation.
EDIT:using adb I manage to get the catlog ...hope someone is expert enough to go around this problem.
I only need to format / mount SDCard and data which is blocked now ...
OK, I have searched the forum and the web and everything I have found doesn't seem to work. It appears I may have bricked up my phone, soft or hard. I am not sure as this is the first time I have ever bricked up.
What I Have:
Verizon Lg G2
Rooted
Had [ROM OTA] LG G2 Verizon Stock Rooted VS98012B
ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.4
What Happened:
My phone was working great until I was trying to figure out why my GF's G2 was not accepting the update from Verizon. So as the gentleman as I am, I decided to revert my G2 back to stock so I could DL and see if I got an error message as well.
So I was able to revert it back from my CW Recovery, after which it was acting sort in sloggish, strange in a way... I shrugged it off and tried the update from Verizon. I was able to DL no problem, but when I installed it, my cell rebooted... After sever attempts to re-installing an OS (ANY OS), I start searching the web for a cure to this mess.
I tried using this method HERE, only to find out that I cannot go into DOWNLOAD MODE as instructed in step #2. Every attempt I make, only brings me back to the ClockworkMod Recovery main screen.
I have no idea what else to do.
PLEASE!!! Anyone have any ideas??? Would really appreciate it as I am trapped from the outside world... :'(

Mano,
Thanks for your quick response. I looked to see how I can do that and I cannot see where I can mount the CWM, nor do I have a ROM on my cell as I removed it to fit more music. lol

KEEP LOOKING IN THE CWM, IT WILL BE THERE.

If you select install zip, do you see an option to SIDELOAD ZIP? If you do, you can push a ROM from your PC.

I do, let me check it out...
I'm at work now, so I will try when I get home in the AM.
In the event I cannot get this running, what is the best way to go about getting this phone switched out? Tell them it fell through a hole while ice fishing? Lost it? Or..... lol

No need for that. You can fix this with a few simple commands.

No worries Spliced, I just got on about an hour ago.
OK, so I am following the instructions to the "T" and I keep getting an error: "cannot read {file name.zip}". Trying to transfer a ROM... Tried renaming the file, removing the .ZIP extension, everything... grrrr
UPDATE: I did a test to see it I can slide a file. I slid the adb.exe and it did slide it over. So sliding does work. Question is, why doesn't slide a ROM over? I am currently downloading another ROM and going to try to slide it over without changing the name of the file. Perhaps it's the signature of the file??? <shrug>
ANOTHER UPDATE:
Ok, it appears "[ROM OTA] LG G2 Verizon Stock Rooted VS98012B" is not like, cannot be sideloaded. I am now sideloading "[ROM] LG G2 VZW Digital Dream v2.1" but stuck on 85% sending... lol
KO, I was able to sideload an image and it instralls, but it still boots up in recovery mode. It appears my G2 is dead.
That said, what is a good excuse to use at Verizon for a replacement?

Don't replace it. This is the reason why carriers have gotten so picky with handing out replacement devices, example: VZW 14 day return policy. Guy buys new phone, guy f**ks up new phone, guy returns it claiming defect.
There is a guide to get you back to stock in this sub, and it's even specific to Verizon's G2. It works, I've used it myself. Just be patient during the process and follow the instructions precisely. Good luck!

I have tried that and there is a problem, when I press the volume up button, it just boots into CMW. In other words, I do not get the download screen.
