Temporary Alternative to Archos defective proxy setting. - Gen8 General

For all the archos users who need proxy settings.
Archos implemented proxy settings in their latest firmware. But to our disappointment its not working...
The proxy setting can not be enabled...
Here is a temporary alternative.
Install the latest Fennec (firefox) browser for Android. You can find it at the mozilla website.
Then google the addon mobile proxy for firefox android.
You'll need the proxy mobile addon (. xpi) and open it using the Fennec browser.
Fennec will ask you to allow installation of the addon. Allow it then you will have an addon in your fennec browser
that allows you to put a proxy setting.
Reminder use the fennec browser to click on the xpi file so that it will ask you if you want to install.
Thats it! you can now set a proxy server in you fennec browser (only) so that you can surf the other web through fennec.
I' ve been using it and everything is working fine with me.
Hope this helps those who need proxy settings. to surf the web.
Just sharing to the community!
Please click Thanks if these helps!

Type opera:config in the address bar. The only question I have is what version of opera mobile will run on an Archos 70? Every time I try it just goes to a black screen and freezes.

I can't get Opera mobile working on the A70IT. Opera Mini works fine, but I would love to try Opera Mobile.

Opera not Working!!!!????

I can't get the opera working on my diamond. IE is working great in the same wi-fi connection, everything looks normal but opera is not working. i type the page and it is not doing anything. any ideas????
Thanks,
same here
yep - same problem. opera reports network error but ie works fine
If it's Opera 9.7 you guys are using, try to temporarily disable turbo since it's using a proxy server. Might be some problems at operas servers.
With turbo disabled Opera does all the rendering itself at your device...

my version is 9.5
Found the problem - one of my apps only works with the Internet APN offered by Vodafone UK - it seems that Opera can only use the WAP APN - enbaling this and Opera runs fine !

I use NetFront Web Browser v3.5
It has this feature + many others.
It is set as my default browaser.
I highly recommend it
Opera has proxy settings too i think. Go to opera:config

Browsers that work with proxies under WiFi

What experiences have users had with different browsers using a proxy and WiFi ? The only one I can get to work is SkyFire. Others, such as IEm, Opera mobile and mobile beta, Fennec, NetFront all appear to bypass the proxy settings - unless I am doing something wrong with my settings. If anyone has had success using these and/or other browsers through WiFi and a proxy, please advise how you set up the proxy.

Opera issue on hd2

Please help as this is driving me insane!
I have a telstra hd2 with the 3 official patches.
Opera mobile is repeatedly having an issue where trying to access the internet with it results in "Connection closed by remote server" error most times. All addresses except the wap.telstra.com addresses work fine in internet explorer.
Example: www.google.com.au
Opera reports Error! Connection closed by remote server
IE displays the google search page.
Please help to resolve this issue.
which version of opera?
do telstra use a proxy?
does it happen on both data and wifi?
opera 9.7 build 35577
Unsure about proxy server, dont see a proxy setting in the opera settings page.
the hd2 is my only acess point to the internet
I just found out this: launch Opera.
Open the Preferences Editor by typing opera:config in the address bar of Opera (remove any 'http' or 'www' first so that it ONLY reads opera:config) and hit go.
Scroll down to "Proxy" settings. enter your proxy server address. I put it in ftp, http and https. Click the check boxes below that to enable these. Click on "Save". should work then.
That's all I know so far... hope it works for you.

How to connect to wifi that requires authentication

I'm travelling with my NST, and I have not been able to connect to hotel/conference site wifi that requires authentication --- as in you first connect to a wifi network that has no password, but when you go to a webpage the browser first takes to you a login page where you enter your ID/password. Opera mini on the NST simply refuses to go that login page, even after I explicitly type in the URL of that page (the "wheel" keeps spinning).
I have another android device (a samsung galaxy player, rooted but otherwise running samsung stock 2.2) and I have no problem connecting. Any help and suggestion is most welcome!
Try using Opera Mobile. Opera Mini cannot access local hosts; when you browse with Mini, all the data is compressed by Opera's servers first. If you have mobile but it doesn't work, try re-installing it.
