Hello,
I've flashed the Ginger Yoshi 5.1 on my phone but I didn't like it and wanted to switch back to RC4.
I tried restoring my RC4 Nandroid backup via Amon Ra's recovery but it failed with the following message: "could not do nandroid-mobile.sh" (or something like that).
I decided then to wipe the system and the cache and do a clean flash of the RC4.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck in the splash screen.
I have the latest radio and the unlocked xxx.xxx0013d SPL.
I can access to fastboot.
Is there a way to boot through Amon Ra's Recovery ?
Thank you guys
Never mind, I found the solution.
You can boot into Recovery mode while pressing HOME + OFF
Reflashing right now !
Whipe
Hey maybe its smart to do a superwhipe i do the superwhipe, you can download en read more about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834812
it works for me just put the config and the superwipe in the root of youre sd, and flash the superwipe twice, and than youre rc5 gingerrom.
I'm pretty new to this sort of phone's i got my 32b like 3 days
Hope this could help ya...
Thank you for your reply,
Anyway, it's working fine with another wipe. But I'll download Ohsaka's Superwipe if the problem comes back...
Yet basically I wanted to restore my nandroid backup. How can I do this without having a fail ? I have renamed the backup, but I'm sure it's not corrupted...
Thanks !

It probably doesn't like what you renamed it to. Try renaming it again to something like "AAA".

I don't know if this could be really repetetive, since it's only happened twice, but it's 2 times in a week and a half, with a RUU and reroot, etc in between.
Reboot the phone and it white screens/freezes for no reason.
Clearing caches or doing a full wipe doesn't fix that issue.
Go to recovery and try to do a nandroid restore and get an "oops... something went wrong error"
Also notice my latest nandroid doesn't show up in the restore list.
I have to pull the sdcard, put it in my spare phone, connect to my pc and move Amon Ra back to the SD Card/Root, then put it back in the Evo, and reboot to Hboot so I can reflash recovery, and then everything seems to work again.
Including my latest nandroid showing the restore list again.
Anyhone encounter this, or know why it's happening?
BTW, using v2.3
Flash it through Rom manager, flash clockwork and after you flash clockwork, then you flash alternate recover aka amon ra

Well, of course it does. That's not the issue.
Obviously, I had to reflash recovery after running the RUU.
The point is, it happened a few days before and a few days after I ran RUU.
I'm wondering if it's a recovery issue or an SD Card issue.
Treated, I root with UnrEVOked, which flashes clockwork, then I flash A.R. after that, but if it happens again, and I can boot up, I'll try flashing CW from Rom Manager and then A.R. afterwards.
Hello. i am new to the android family
i have a nexus s GT-9020T
i have rooted my phone but without setting the clockworkmod reovery.
today i was playing with the rom manager and downloaded one of the rom from the list. after installation i was unable to start the phone only seeing the google logo with the unlock logo.
i went back into the recovery by typing flash recovery recovery.img etc.
run a restore and restart the phone but still not work
my nexus s is 2.3.4 by the way.
please assist
What "restore" did you run?
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056062
And download the full rom:
Model: i9020T
Full Rom: GRJ22, KD1
That'll revert your Nexus S to the latest completely stock 2.3.4
Then you can flash recovery again and go back to clockwork mod and go flash another rom or whatever.
Remember when you're flashing a new rom you need to wipe data and cache and dalvik cache.
i run an restore from the backup that i made before installing the new rom using clockwork mod recovery, its part of the option when installing the rom using the rom manager * click box - backup * etc something like that

Next time don't use Rom Manager to make backups or flash roms. It's stupid and can get you issues like you're having.
Anyways, try wiping data and cache then restoring the backup, do it in Clockwork Recovery.
Let it boot, first boot always takes a while, 5-10 minutes. If you see the boot animation freeze, stop and restart, then yeah it's screwed up, otherwise, just let it is.
If still not working from your backup, do what I said in previous reply, just restore to stock 2.3.4 then re flash clockwork mod and start over with the rom you want to flash.
thank your nxt. i have found the real problem. it was not my backup problem or the rom that u provided. it was the version of my clockwork mod recovery. i was using an 2.x.x.x to restore the phone which is why it doesn't work. everything work fine now after i flashed with an 3.x.x.x and restore the phone. one question thou, where can i always find the newest clockwork mod recovery release ? thank you very much

Or just use ROM Manager to get the latest.
That's the only thing I use ROM Manager for... getting the latest Recovery.
thanks again nxt. if you don't mind really ...i have one more question. i know the phone intend to uninstall clockwork mod recovery once its restarted. i know there is command type into the cmd to avoid the phone uninstall the clockworkmod reovery and make it permanent in another word. I didn't run those command when i root my phone because i don't know if its good to make it permanent like.... hmmm like if there will be a 2.3.5 coming next month..just saying ok... with a permanent unofficial recovery will cause a problem?

Are you running custom ROM? If you are, it's already made to not revert back to stock recovery. If you leave it stock recovery you'll get notifications for firmware updates by Google, but remember that applying those to a rooted phone might screw things up too.
the blue one is stock recovery right?

Good morning people.
I rooted my Wildfire with this guide
and then I tried to keep a Nandroid backup before flashing CM7
Nandroid backup allways freeze at random .odex files (at 40-45%)
The first time i said "WTF lets continue..."
I wiped the devices data and trying to install CM7... freeze (didnt start the installation)!
Then I tried it with CM6... no luck (freeze at 30-40%)
I formated my SD to FAT32... Tried again... no luck
I changed SD with my wifes (the one that came with wildfire)... Tried again... No luck
I restored a stock ROM via FastBoot
I rooted again
I tried to keep a Nandroid backup.... same s#it...
Can someone help me?

thank you very much
hey guys
i flashed ARHD 6.1.5 to my dhd
i followed every step... but after reboot my dhd has been stuck at the start up htc logo.. only thing i can do is to pull out my battery and put it in again and start the bootloader. (reflashed the rom a few times, but no changes)
before i flashed arhd i made a backup of my former rom with clockworkmod recovery... now my recovery seems to be 4ext.
can i flash without any problem my backup with the 4exp recovery?
greetings
duluu

the problem is clockworkmod didnt make a .zip... theres a image some .ext3 data
Backups in CWM aren't saved as zips. Just go ahead and select backup restore from the menu and then restore from the next menu. You should see your backup there to select. 4ext is very similar to CWM so there will be no problems.

Hi folks,
5 day ago i rootet my tablet 16GB WE and installed Koshu`s CWM step by step like discribed in his threat [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831161]. At the end there was an error message..., i was too quick and made an reboot bevor i could read it.
But i tested if i rooted the tablet succesfully and the superuser-app said that i am root now....
Then i installed the v.0.8.1 Version and everything was fine!
a few days later i got reboots during normal use.
Now i cant boot in the OS, there are bootloops the hole time.
I think that i have not installed the CWM correct...
Any ways to check this with adb commands or something else?
It would be great if someone could help me....
Sorry for my bad english!

You can still boot into CWM? Well you could make a backup of the installed recovery (like shown in the CWM thread) and check if the md5sums are equal to the downloaded image. Btw. linebreaks in the logcat would really help reading it

yes i can Boot into CWM, but i cant restore my backup. I tried to install cm10 clean again but after rebooting CWM and booting the OS Android is updating the apps. But i did a full wipe bevor.Thats why i think that the CWM is not in an good state.
i am in the road and maybe i can later check the md5sum.
I can attach an picture from the CWM during trying formating and fixing permissions.
thank you!

I linked a zip file in the CM10 Thread that formats the data partition: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846044
You can find it in the "addition steps" section. Beware that it will delete all your personal data including the internal sd-card (also nandroid backups if you have stored them on the internal sdcard). So make sure you have EXTERNAL backups if you want to keep some of the data.

I have nearly the same problem.
I rooted my TPT a few weeks ago, today I was reading about Cyanogen and decided to install CWM. After some issues with the adb drivers, I managed to install the clockwork recovery.
Now I followed the steps from the cm-thread. I did a nandroid backup and wiped my tablet. After that, I flashed CM10. But all I get is the CyanogenMod logo spinning around.
I tried to go back to my nandroid backup, but it seems broken somehow.
I also tried several several CM-versions and downloaded them several times, without success. But I realised, that the installation procedure of CM was very quick, too quick maybe? Could it be that my clockworkmod isn't installed correctly, because the installation of CM and the nandroid backup won't work.
I hope you guys can help me out. Because I only could find nandroid backups for ROW and US version. I also don´t have adb access anymore.

You have to download the formatdata.zip on your external sd-card.
After that you can boot in the recovery and flash this .please dont juse the cwm! Do you know how to boot into the recovery?
Power on and during that you should drop-down the volume + key a few seconds.
This helped me and others.

I was thinking about 2 possible solutions right now.
1. get another nandroid backup (Problem didnt see any for the 16gb WE version)
2. try no reflash another CWM version or maybe ventana cwm and try again to flash Cyanogen (don't know if its possible to just flash another recovery as an image with the current working recovery)
So what do you guys think?

One last question. I am using the folio keyboard with an european layout (qwertz), but with Cyanogen it is us layout (qwerty). How can I change this?
