Just upgraded to XEU Froyo 2.2.1

Just upgraded using registry hack,
my phone is so snapier, no more lag at all.
I was wondering is it still with the rfs system file, or what did they do to this firmware, that they couldn't managed before.
I have tried a few lagfixes before but none of them fixed the lag this much.
This is how it should be from the beginning.

I have upgraded too, same method , this build is far better than the previous JP5 (it was an italian H3G build). Although this morning i had to reboot because UI crashed while trying to open wifi settings... :?
I think i will sure offer a beer to Nodial for good work.
What about this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881532 ?

Jpy through kies faster then jpy through odin

I just noticed that upgrading throuh reg hack on Kies makes the phone run smoother than the same firmware while upgrading on Odin.
I don't know if this has to do with using one file in Odin however just wanted to share.

Is it the same file or two different files .
Kies your official network firmware Odin presume you are using a stock non provider file .
jje
Is JPY officially available on Kies?

How did you determine this? Might just be a placebo effect or related to something else you did / didn't do (e.g. factory reset / cache wipe).

Yes. I flashed to it last night. I downgraded via odin back to 2.1. Downloaded kies 2.0 and it came up with JPY firmware. So far so good, GPS is meh, didnt use it enough today though. Ive never had GPS issues previously, through either official 2.1 roms or non official 2.2 roms. Ill test more 2 moro
This is pure bs as usual. When u install a new f/w benchmarks always run slightly faster till u get memory filled up with installed programs.

I don't care about benchmarks. I was speaking of generally using the phone.
The phone is smoother, there is no more lag. There was always lag before even with no programs installed.
However it can be placebo,
I also noticed that after flashing some kernel (for going back to 2e recovery) immediately reappears the lag
The stock 2.2.1 is also smoother to me than Darky rom, however they equal after applying lagfix on Darky.

Jv1 changed on samirmware

Just been on samfirmware and noticed new download for jv1 single link and 512 pit also now changed coulor on status thought you guys would like to know
Seems to be the same to me
Perhaps they decided that, that will be new color for Gingerbread and next Ginger firmware's to come..

I think they realized their earlier 803 pit was wrong, so they changed the color. This needs confirmation from other users. I have used 512 & its running perfectly for me.
When you say its running perfectly do you mean straight from install or after applying fixes to some of the bugs that have been identified? Do you have swype working for example and If so did you apply a fix? Thanks

Replying in this thread, I just mean JV1 installed perfectly & is running perfectly. It has its problems, like hanging & other issues. But they aren't relevant here.
Update did clean install this morning had no freezes still bit memory hungry but have not had to reboot at all actually finding it quite usable this time not as laggy either still only 960 quadrent but no mods running only did framrwork .res left kernell alone seems ok for now had no kernell panick either

I installed with 803 pit and repartition, no problems. Rooted with CFRoot, then changed framework-res, no problems. Flashed hacked kernel (supercurio's) with no problem for totaly 3-4 days. Flashed back eclair with 512 pit, then upgraded to official froyo (kies) and then flashed back XWJV1 with 803 pit completely stock. No problems. I don't know why they propose 512 pit. It's just fine with 803. And the no functioning swype has nothing to do with this. Use SGS tools (rooted of course) to change a line in build.prop and it's ok. Search the posts and read....
it's same firmware

Loss of data connection ( and buggy phone part)

Hello
i just updated my galaxy s to the leaked 2.3.3 build from a danish 2.2.1 build i tryed reflashing it since i had problems with no data connection and errors in phone part ( though it worked, just a bit buggy) the reflash and repartion that i choose to do since i had voodoo kennel on my phone before did not help either, so now my phone cant use data connection
anyone have any suggestions? maybe it is a common error? i tryed googling and looking a bit but did not see anything.
I really appreciate the help, another thing i would love would be a 2.3.3 build with danish keyboard/speech in it.
Are you saying that you flashed to a phone that was lagfixed .
If so its broke your phone Undo lagfix before flash is rule one .
You will need to flash stock rom using Odin to get a working phone .
jje
Okay but i flashed the version that was out in the forum with Odin, what Rom should i flash to get back to a state where i can flash 2.3.3 with Odin again? and will i need to re partion, i kinda thought that would take care of the laggfix?
I'm not sure what your problem is. Just take the files from the JVK Rom (PDA, Modem, CSC) add a pit file (512.pit or what you want) and select repartition and click start. Don't need to disable lagfix if you do it that way.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Hmm okay the thing is i already did exactly that and still no data connection :S
Maybe i need to flash a kennel without laggfix?
I have now flashed samsung stock kennel for 3.3.3 , i have reflashed 2.2.1 the version i get from my kies in Denmark and everything works in 2.2.1, now i tryed reflashing 2.3.3 and i still got the same problem as before any help would be much appreciated
Sounds like you need to put in your telco specific APN to get data working.

okay sounds like something that might work, where can i find this apn?
where do i find this file?
It's not a file, it's the name/details of a server on your provider's network. If you didn't back up your original firmware, you'll probably have to call your network or check their website.
Word to the wise - reposting the same question after 7 minutes won't win you too many friends
Danish 2.3.3 keyboard - best to wait until the Nordic firmware is released/leaked.
Thanks the VPN from my network provider solved it!
btw i did not repost any question it was not the same question and i only posted course i was still in doubt.
again thank you all, properly never would have throught of VPN Settings by myself
No problem, glad you sorted it out.

[Q] Phone hangs with no reason

Hello,
It's been 3 days since the first time my phone hung. I'm using Samsung i5800 for 6 days now and I like it, but constant hangups are real pain... It hangs on every possible screen (like every 3-4h) and even on idle and screen off.
4 days ago i rooted my phone and flashed Kyrillos ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957123 and then http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=986831 InDroid 4.3.
I tried downclocking it to 667MHz (stock) and it gave me nothing, formatted my sd card.
Can I check what is the reason of freezes?
It could be just about anything, what kernel are you using and what filesystems?

I5800XXJP4 and 2.6.32.9 kernel
I suppose the radio is wrong (it was written in Kyrillos topic that I should flash JPM radio rom).
Can someone please point me to 'how to' flash new radio rom? I downloaded some roms ant its only .zip's with some unknown files inside... I searched XDA but it shows only a tutorial with 'one package' mode.
did u tries JPM stock rom howfar i know its the best..

I did not, because im stuck with JP4 and don't have any guide how to flash any new radio rom... can somebody point me to one?
Download stock JPM rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063940 unzip, you will get .tar file, flash it as one package like in tutorial, then flash kyrillos again
clarkkov said:
This is not a high end phone, you don't need to flash radio sepparately, just flash stock XXJPQ ROM and root it if needed and all your issues will stop.
Download the ROM at samfirmware.com
You are getting these "hangups" a.k.a. lags due to faulty custom kernel governors, you can set your governor via SETCPU app to "Performance" mode to avoid the lags, but the phone will still "hangup" after using the GPS for example or a long call. Just avoid custom kernels (all of them) and you'll be fine.

By these 'hangups' I mean complete freeze of the phone - I must pull out the battery to restart it (no buttons working).
I downloaded a radio rom but when extracted the zip im getting not tar, but those files: factoryfs.rfs, modem.bin and zImage.
Same prob for my g3 when i flashd custom kernel then i use set cpu and set governer consorative min freq. 166 and max freq. 667 then my prob are solved try this hope its work for you.
changed to standart rom - fixed everything
