It looks amazing but I remember a similar demonstration for a 3D TAT interface on the N95 way back when, and nothing ever came of it. Is this getting a definite release?

I'm not 100% sure about this but i think it will be released because there is a sign up for getting early access, So the only thing to do right now is sign up and hope for the best
P.S i will give feed back and share videos here if i ever get the early access

No, other than the weather widget (which actually does a good job looking natural and making good use of space) I think that it's pretty much a bust. Unnecessary gestures and poor layout/viewing angles, this feely like a "me too" attempt at (ab)use of opengl.

THAT is bizarre. They do say it weird, froy-oh. what the heck.
If im not mistaken, and given that frozen yogurt stuff has taken california by storm, froyo in pop culture is pronounced fro-yo, and that is how i have been saying it lol.

granted that, if you watch the video, they are clearly in perfect command of american standard english with zero accent what so ever. so whatever the reason for froyos pronunciation, i cant attribute it to their english skills

English in the US is affected by regional dialects and colloquialisms just like any other language.
I'm from Chicago and we pronounce certain things differently than say someone from Dallas. Even my business associate from New York can say the most simple things differently from me.
Fro-Yo or Froy-O; either is acceptable. None of that matters anyways since it's not a real word.
I call it Android 2.2, unless I want to #### with people, then I call it "forgurt" and if anyone mentions "froyo" I act like they're insane.

typically any short form of a phrase has everything to do with what it is formed from. FROzen YOghurt. It seems the simplest solution is to pronounce as a combination - FRO-YO rather than make a new term - FROY-OH
edit: I think we realise we are discussing an irrelevant point. But that is what most of the internet is.

1. take mandarin chinese lessons exactly 4 times a week. The instructor should be half chinese and half white (Anglo-Saxon or Arian)
2. after 10 months of extensive study you should be ready... now buy a logitech limited addition Warcraft 3 keyboard chinese addition.. NOT KOREAN (black and red if possible)
3. @reply the miui developers to make a chinese port for the G2
4. Translate to english
5. (most important part) pay me $300

oh i was saying that you were jealous of my plan to port the miui rom...... as far as kingklick he is a good dev and although misunderstood is a fine addition to the dev environment. (although i doubt he'll make roms for the g2)

I couldn't agree with you more...
I tried an MiUi build on my HD2 and had fun with it. It's certainly a little different. For all the neat stuff it has, I got sick of all the apps being on the home screen.
By the way, reading this thread, I noticed that some of you have a sense of humor. Am I on the XDA forums or is this some fever dream?
Miui is my rom of choice on the n1, it's fantastic once you get use to the iphoney look.
Btw kangklick is not a dev he is a porter.

From what little experience I have with iOS, I felt like MiUi was a little like that with the training wheels off. At least, in terms of features I find intuitive with a UI.

exactly its the only rom to come with its own complete UI rebuild.
Just saw a couple videos of miui on the Nexus One. I'd love to have that on my G2.
I came across this thread (below), and I'm trying to see if its at all possible for one of our devs to translate and port this to our Evos. That would be awesome.

Miui is basically that plus some from what I remember. Give it a shot. Someone some time ago actually made an iOS ish Rom. Think it was on HTC hero. It wasn't that popular.

As it turns out, I'm Running MIUI right now. I just came across it an hour ago. What I like is that it has the "search" feature if you go to the leftmost screen. Try out the launcher on the thread and tell me what you think.

I just don't understand the want for this. I have used every single iPhone and haven't seen any progress with the crappyness of the OS. I can't imagine why anyone would even want to use this. Even completey stock,unthemed android looks so much better than this. It's whatever though, everybody has their own preferences as completely mind blowing as they are. I'm also a little biased because I can't stand anything that is made by Apple. I would rather have no technology at all than to use any product made by Apple.

Deep breath in and out there Fangoria. Wow I have seen some ignorance in here but remember, NOT ALL OF US LIKE THE SAME THINGS. Iphone has its good points and android has better points(In my opinion). Why you so quick to bash someone today? You need some Midol. We all are different and like different stuff click the back arrow and go on to something else if you don't like this thread.
Someone should definitely do this. I'm willing to bet a lot of people would use it (someone in that thread even said they would donate to get it on the evo), and there's nothing like it in the forums. (no, MIUI is not like this)

Was it not normally not fated that our A500’s where going to be the first devices with an update to ics? I see that the asus eee-pad now also had an update on a date that surprises everyone! Why can acer not do it so quick?
And could somebody say now the exact date of the update on our device please and not the fake polish forum threads with fake dates ?

acer never said it would be the first to get ICS, they said the update would be in January and the media jumped on it being one of the first. If you think it is easy for updates to roll out then by all means apply for a job with acer, but personally I'd rather have it tried and tested with good quality assurance than the usual buggy crap put out by communities such as this.

Acer will deliver ICS to us in 21 days, 13 hours, 23 minutes, and 12 seconds
I will get here when it does. Worring about it it's not gonna make it faster. The last thing I heard is that will be either this month or the next, so just sit and wait like the rest of us.

Kind enough to share or not, most custom roms ARE buggy and garbage. I'm very picky about my custom roms, and the iconia community is lucky that most of the roms are from the same couple people who know what they are doing and update with bug fixes when one is found. The g2 community? Not so lucky, lots of trash roms available there.
Let me put it this way, if i make a dinner that commonly causes people to puke and serve it at a homeless shelter should they just be glad i brought food or should they tell me it was disgusting and made them vomit? Same with roms, if it sucks, it sucks.

I set a timer on the numbers you gave us, and if I hadn't got the ICS update from Acer when that timer expired, I'll sue you in small claim court on Mars.
Just contacted acer live support, someone called Uma Mahesh responded that it will be available in february. Also he or she said that it will pop when it is available. I couldnt take a screen shot, so no evidence. But if u are curious u can ask too, they are quick for answering.
hopefully in feb. asus and archos are already scheduled for a feb. ics release.

lol Sorry, I'm living on Venus with my 500 wives, and 600 GFs. We don't recognize Mars law here!
i swear it seems like there's a new thread asking when ICS will be released like everyday....can you guys stop asking and try to search or google instead? LOL everytime i open the thread thinking that someone is gonna confirm the release date....and everytime I get disappointed

Then go out and make your own.... Just remember what you said, and make sure you leave time for your family, university(if you go), your job and other commitments...
This is a developement forum... The devs are doing this at the expense of their time and effort. Some are VERY good at what they do, others are just experimenting and trying to improve.... They rely on our feed back as much as we rely on them NOT to brick our devices, however, accidents can, and will, happen...
Now, back on track...
Can't wait for the ICS upgrade and to see what will get cooked up... Just from reading this is a big thing from the developers perspective.
Liking the fact I can use the bio-metric lock...
Hoping it comes out soon as it's like christmas eve, having all the presents to open but having to wait til the morning... I know, I'm just a big kid....
My question is does anyone know if you will be able to naturally move apps to the SD with the update. Or is this just another Acer mystery?

We have women mechanics... pSSSSSSSSS ....
I dont want to turn this thread in to a this type of discussion. But Yes there are some jobs women Should not due because of physical ability.. We are just not as strong as men.. I can say this because i struggle with lifting and so at my VERY Male type job.. but working on CARS IS NOT One of those jobs..
A short skirt and a smile can get a guy to do anything im not able. And they will enjoy doing it..
