Goede vraag
= Good question.. i need to know the answer too ..
it depends what you are using to play the vid. so far i find avc or h.264 with coreplayer to be the best
And which format do you use , if am right the screen resolution is 640x480 but is this not way to big for such a small screen?

I've never heard anyone complain about too much resolution before
I've had pretty good results with TCPMP using GDI (there's an option in there somewhere for this, much better than default). Of course you've got to get the version compiled on the .NET Framework here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380387.
Personally I would think you'll get the best results from a file encoded for the Diamond's native resolution (640x480) so that no scaling needs to be done to the image.
Regarding the question of which codec or compression type will yield the best results, I'm not really sure. I've found Xvid or Divx to be of very high quality provided it was encoded to the same resolution as the source and the source quality was good. I guess it's really a toss up between quality/performance and file size.

Uhm you can have quality performance and a decent file size. DiVX looks perfect perfomance is perfect too and the size could be better (in my opinion the only thing what could be better).
Even a H.2xx encoded file always playes really nice (no shocking), you only have too worry about the 4gb limit :S
I don't know wich program i use to encode my vids, i'm @work right now.
PS 240*320 would be good to, scaling (everything x2 in this case) is much lighter then loading a 640*320 movie to the screen... But who cares if it seamlessy playing the full res (sorry for my englisch )
not to thread jack, but i'm looking for a codec pack that will allow me to play any video on the daimond touch
i don't know about codec packs, but TCMP and Core player come preloaded with most codecs and play video's much better than media player
TCMP is free so you might want to start there
I use Cucusoft Ultimate DVD + Video Converter Suite its absolutely awsome, it has a preset setting for pocket pc's and the conversion quality is excellent, the movies are easly as good as dvd standard and they can be played in wmp and HTC Album
Have a look at this xda-developers video encoding GUI.
Hey all, i was just trying to figure out, whats the best video player for the Evo? by best i mean supports the most codecs and gives the best experience? also, whats the best format for video on the evo?(highest quality, smoothest playback) and what are you guys using to convert said videos?(super, dvdRIP, etc)
yxPlayer
GREAT playback.
Handbrake will let you rip DVDs into your gallery to watch with the built in player (I advise this since it lets you export to HDMI by default!)
handbrake is an OSX only app is it not?

I have some 720p MKV videos with H264 video AAC audio that I wanted to load onto my Xoom, so far I haven't been able to get it playing smoothly at 720p with mp4 H264 and AAC audio but Mpeg4 seems a little blocky.
Does anyone have any suggestions on FormatFactory (or some other mass conversion tools) settings I can use that gives me the best video quality at a good frame rate?
from how i understand it the Tegra 2 has issues playing high profile H.264, i had a notion ink adam for a week and it was the same thing on this as well.
when i get my wifi xoom ill test it but i expect the same results.
I loved my zoom but I think that's one of the most unacceptable situation for zoom. good amount of people bought zoom is for video play back. at the least, if you should be able to play anything you throw at it. I hate apple but that's one I cannot trash the ipad
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
I cant even move .avi to the xoom... if anyone knows how please let me know.

In Windows 7 it tells me with a lot of file extensions that they are not compatible but I ignore the message and copy them anyways. Then they play nicely on the Xoom. I've used .m4v, .mp4, .mkv, .avi.... just ignore the error message and copy the files. Then use Rock Player Lite to play.
i don't know about the format factory, i download a free version of a xoom video tool, it recommend the h.264 mp4, size: 1280*752, frame rate:30fps, bitrate:1500
The above parameters are just for your reference, sometimes, video playback quality also is based on your xoom player.
whats the name of the tool?
what is the name of the tool / free xoom conversion software you used?

In the first place, i help u find the formats that xoom support.
Audio Playback Supports: MP3, AAC, ACC+Enhanced, OGG, MIDI, AMR NB, AAC
Video Playback Supports: MPEG-4, H.264,H.263
u need to convert your mkv to mp4. i use Fox Real Xoom video converter and set the parameter is mp4, h.264, 1280*752, 1500kbps, 30fps, and i can get full screen on the xoom.
so i suggest u also set on Formatfactory according to the parameters. hopefully it can help u!

i used a free version of a tool which named xoom video converter, but there is a logo "foxreal" in the centre of the screen. at last, i took about $23 to buy a official version, now everything is ok.
Hello All.
I'm looking for the best way to play 720p Movies on the Galaxy Note so I can take advantage of the excellent screen but run into a few problems.
1) The 720p files are over 4GB
2) Struggling converting .MKV files to a Note friendly format while keeping the quality.
3) Streaming is then the only option but still have to convert the video files first.
What methods do you guys use to get good quality Movies / TV shows on your Note?
Many Thanks
PS. Wish AirPlayit would come out for android. Used the iPhone version and that was excellent.
I use Handbrake (open source) http://handbrake.fr/ to convert my mkv's
there are tons of tutorials and walkthroughs for most of the android devices
for example just follow this
http://androidadvices.com/how-to-convert-watch-movies-on-samsung-galaxy-tab/
however, make sure you adjust the resolution that fits the note which is 1200x800 because the website is talking about galaxy tab

Many Thanks for that
The settings on the website after changing the resolution look awesome and have cut my 5GB file down to 1.6GB.
Really appreciate the help.

Diceplayer plays MKV's perfectly.
I tried an ep of trueblood 720p MKV and it ran perfectly without flaws.
Was only 2gb so not sure of over 4gb limit.
I uses this to stream all my Recorded TV (.ts), rmvb, mkv, avi etc etc to my note, works great!

.mp4 or .3gp format with 320*240 resolution would do.
use any video converter like total video converter, format factory etc.
I personally use handbrake.
hmm i watch video in .mp4 format with higher resolution than 320x240
I think Wildfire can play video 480x320 and the same resolution can recorder, if I found the thread I post

don't forget that the best video bitrate that willy can handle without problem is 256KBs even if you use smaller resolution but your video bitrate is higher than 256KBs you would have some lags and pauses during playing as i testet the best frame rate for that was 25fram/sec mobo video player is better than others you can play FLV files with above conditions very smoothly.
