Flash speedmods kernel with odin. Go to recovery and wipe. After that choose advanced clockwork and format system, cache and data. Restart.

Maybe you can try to format from recovery and then go to mount and storage and unmount internal sd and mount again. Reboot.

DOH! What do I need to clear to get USB working?

In my best Gilda Radner/Roseanne Roseannadanna impression...
"Its Always Something"
Short version.. I have been ROM hopping and now I cant access my USB to connect as a disk drive.... even when going to a different ROM.
I of course cleared cache and devlik? (sp?) between each install.
Scared to clear system because I have lost my firmware settings before and not sure what did it. (damn newbs)
Once I get a ROM installed and running.. or from Clockwork recovery... what do I need to clear to fix this issue??
Thanks!

nothing? you need the right drivers on your computer.
Drivers I do have, I was connected to CDMA workshop just before tonight's ROM hopping, HTC Sync also worked without issue. I don't have the option to select "Connect as disk drive" from notifications at all... if I go into system settings and select "connect as disk drive" as default.. still nothing. This is true even when on different ROMs.. so I am guessing something needs to be wiped.

You could try reflashing the rom. What rom are you using. if you are flashing different roms (different things to your systems partition) and leaving the same data all of the time, it might not always fit the rom you are using if they are not just updates. You can always get in from recovery under mount and format and mount usb from there.
I format/wipe everything before flashing a new rom (system, data, cache, and boot) to try and keep from having stragglers in my partitions. I don't know what kind of firmware issues you had when wiping your system, but it can be beneficial when being a flashoholic as I am.

Wildfire stuck on bootloop

Hi all
I have a Wildfire that had Cm7, was rooted and s-offed. As Im selling the phone i thought it would be a good idea if I reset to factory, ready to be sold. However it has now given me a problem.
I reset to factory by clearing the storage on the hboot screen, and now when i turn on the phone it stays on the boot animation. I can get top the hboot menu, but im now stuck.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Have you tried reinstalling CM7/Sense ROM?
No,
Are the steps the same as a normal install?
Yes.
Sent from my Ainol Novo7 Elf using xda premium
Did you factory reset to remove your personal data or to try get back to sense? You should always factory reset in recovery to avoid these problems. Also it wont return sense, need a stock rom or a ruu for that

I thought when i was doing it, it would just delete all the apps and stuff, so it would be a brand new phone but with cm7 installed.
Ill try and reinstall cm7 and see what happens..........
Right, update
I've followed this http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=HTC_Wildfire:_Full_Update_Guide#Method_via_Recovery and on step 5, i've selected - Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
and now teh screen hasnt moved for about 10 minutes, its on the screen where there is a top hat and yellow arrow...........
help.....
press the power button again then use the trackball. to select everything in cwm.
Also I'm not 100% as I've never cleared storage from hboot but doesn't that wipe your SD card?
if so you may have wiped some files needed by the phone so you may need to reinstall Cm7 or whichever rom, not just factory reset.

ok did you install gapps as well? go back to recovery and factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik cache. then reboot and try again.

pretty sure you need gapps for setup to work
Recommended Solution (by me):
(suppose u want "clear setup" of CM7 stable)
Prepare your SD
Wipe off everything
Copy setup files
download.cyanogenmod.com/get/stable/gingerbread/update-cm-7.1.0.1-buzz-signed.zip
download.clockworkmod.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
Get out the SIM card
Boot to recovery
Wipe phone storage
In recovery go to mounts and storage
Unmount /cache
Format /cache, /data, /system
Go back, then to the advanced and Reboot Recovery
"Install" OS
Back in recovery go to install zip from sdcard/choose zip from sdcard
First install update-cm-7.1.0.1-buzz-signed.zip
Then gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
And finally Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
Go back, and power off
Now u re in state "like from the store", that mean that OS is not really installed, there re just files copied and real installation will run on frist boot
Unfortunately, theres a catch
Theres problem with CM7 installation and it can face the problem with GPS
First boot will pop-up "market like" window with all Google apps, my recommendation is to wait, dont install anyting, dont click on anything, just wait, it will disapear... u can safely install them later from the market..
You don't really need the su.zip, since CM7 comes pre-rooted.

That's a good plan, but with 2 drawbacks ... 1 you don't need to flash su. Might break stuff since cm7 is pre rooted. 2 what if something else went wrong and he hasn't booted the phone to check? Then sells, unaware of it being damaged. Buyer comes back angry, ect ect aside from that good tut

sorry but u re wrong.. it cant break anything.. its just update.. in CM7.1.0.1 is SU 3.0.6 u can safely update it to 3.0.7 (i do it every time like that..)
Edit: sure guys... u dont have to do that... u can do it later from market... u will be prompt to do that... lol ....its defenetly better way install app like that from market rather than from recovery...
(both ways works in this case, anyway my logic says me that is better install crucial apps like that from recovery..)

..thats exactly why i mentioned point 7.
he have to decide what will be his next step..
if he decide to boot and try it out he will have to login to wifi, login to google account (to download Maps or GPS status) etc.. etc.. it will NOT be clear any more..
...it really depends on who is the buyer... does he know him ? can they do that together wiht buyers account, etc..
...because i dont know this dependencies i leave it open.......

Possible brick going back to the stock rom

I was flashing back to stock from CM9. I had already done it successfully earlier. However this time something went wrong and I don't understand what.
1. Wiped user data and dalvik cache using CWM.
2. Used the rom from here. Same file I used the first time.
3. Flashed using odin. Used PDA, and only Auto Reboot was checked.
I can't get it to turn off without pulling the battery. Trying to use the power button to turn it off just causes it to restart. In the video, the phone was powered on right before the start of the video.
Any advice welcome regarding where to go from here. Thanks.

You also have to go into the mounts section in cwm and format /system whenever you flash a completely different ROM.

Problem flashing ice cold sandwich

hi, yesterday I tried to flash the ice cold sandwich rom so I entered in the recovery and I flashed update.zip (ice cold sandwich renamed)

then I reboot the phone but the screen is locked on the htc logo ..so I remove the battery and I can enter i the bootloader and in the recovery..so the question is: what I have to do now?
Do a full wipe.

Oh boy.
Tell me everything you did, when reporting a problem you need to say everything in detail. If you wiped the sd card, you will need to download the rom to pc, mount sd card, transfer, flash and so on. But seriously, read the guide in the seventh post, look at the links in the second post, your questions are covered there.

Are you sure you've done everything right? In recovery just choose reboot and it will be ok...
I think it depends on the settings of the phone what it will do when you plug it in powered off.
However, try using a proper charger or a cable with only the power pins working, this will negate the possibility that commands are being sent over the USB cable like adb or fastboot recovery, which tell your phone to boot into recovery (or something else).

[Q] A2SD problems.

Here is a story about me and my phone:
I'm using this rom for about 2-3 months and it's great!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817793
But when I was updating some apps with the Play Store I got error 492.
Googled it and I found a thread on XDA and it said that I had to clear some caches.
So I did that and a Dalvik Cache wipe and I fixed permissions.
But it ended in an endless boot. So wiped everything and I did as an extra a Task 29. I flashed my rom installed INT2EXT+. The first boot after I flashed INT2EXT+ something weird happened: The WiFi just didn't turn on. I just turned it on but the slider bounced back after 5 seconds. Reflashed still that problem. So here comes the question how can I fix it?
Wi-Fi issues are sometimes connected to too small system partition. Perhaps caused by bad blocks. Make sure your system partition is bigger than needed. I usually add 10/15 mb above what the rom requires

Did what you said but when I let it start up I just see just a FC of Settings that's it. :crying::crying:
I rebooted it several times en every time it boots up I see ''Android is Upgrading''.
did you do a 'wipe data' because although the partitioning will clear out all teh nand, there may be stuff on the sd-ext/fat that are left over. a wipe data / factory reset clears those out too.

That's because int2ex need its own script for wiping dalvik, using the one provided with CWM will cause bootloops: both of you can find the right one on the first post of croniccorey's thread. Just search for "Dalvik-Cache Wipe Tool" then make it run from install zip from sdcard entry.

If you have int2ex installed then download and run that zip because if you use normal CWM wipe-cache-dalvik, you'll get a bootloop. this may help you?
