[Q] HD2 O2uk rom upgrade - memory issue - HD2 General

hi there.
Help needed.
I have patiently been awaiting o2s rom upgrade, and today it came!
I downloaded installed and personalised it. Then I noticed an annoying beep, couldnt work it out. Then I realised programs were shutting down. I checked my memory 87% used!
I rebooted, 69% managed to get it down to 58% by turning off sense.
Has anyone else got this problem?
does anyone have any ideas on a fix?
Thank in advance

Do you have HSPL installed? if so then this is the problem there are one or two threads which have to fix

Random Restarts

Has anyone had this???
My MDA Vario restarts on it self on a regular basis...then it asks for my password n den pin....
is this due to the fact that its been dropped twice??
or is it because i play mp3s on a regular basis?
Are you overclocking it? I was getting that as well but I reduced the speed to 240MHz from 264MHz and it hasn't happened since.
nope
Could also be the ROM Version you are using. I had constant reboots ( 3-5 times a day ) with the original T-Mobile ROM - now that I am using the QTEK 2.18 all is fine - no more reboots.
hmmm im using the original t mobile rom.....i seriously didnt want to blank my rom and flash a new version cos i aint done it before
Well known issue with the TMO Ship ROM I'm afraid. I'm stuck with it (and the reboots) as I need BB Connect but if you don't need BB then I'd recommend the latest QTEK, it's excellent and stable
JoninLA, thanks for that info mate, but whats BB?
also can you direct me to the latest rom, and a few simple instructions...
if the process is long then i wont do it. ive got a ton of coursework to get done...so messing about with fone makes me life a bit more stressful
BB (Blackberry).
Latest QTEK ROM is at ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/Qtek/ and I was using the 186504-ruu_9100_2170702_21707102_20710_qtek_wwe_ship.exe which was very stable
Guys... I have the same problem with resets. However, this only happens when i have the bluetooth on. Anyone heard of any glitch with the bluetooth patch?
Well I haven't tried having the bluetooth off so you may be right - kind of sucks to say you can't use the SD in all the time or you have to turn the bluetooth off. Basically, this is an issue with the AKU1 and never had any problems with the AKU2 QTEK ROM so if anyone in this post chain doesn't need Blackberry connect I'd just recommend upgrading to a decent ROM
We're wondering if this problem, along with the MDA Vario ROM, might be SD-card related? See thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33537

What's on your SD card at the moment, is there anything that would prevent you from doing what I'm doing and taking it out for a few days for testing purposes?
It would also be worthwhile downloading B_Uptime, a neat little utility that logs all reboots so you'll know how long your device has been running and when any unexpected reboots have occured. See the thread at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45168
Andre
Well that's a full week with not a single unexpected reboot. When I had the SD card in place I was getting several reboots a day. I've got to put the card back in now as I need TomTom, so I guess the reboots will come back and really prove the point if there's any doubt left.
Has anyone else tried this test to see if their reboots go away without an SD card in place?
Hopefully it'll be fully cured with a newer ROM, anyway. I'm waiting to see what the new T-Mobile UK one is like before venturing into that area though.
Andre
andrewilley, mate ive done a hard reset..and also deleted a film of my mini SD card..since then there has not been any random reboots
First post so be gentle.
New to my MDA Vario with a 2 Gig card.
Random reboots have caused me to search for answers.
This link may have some answers.... http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=112638
I have tried the fix and will see what happens.
thanks for the info-i tried that activesync fix but still had 2 futher reboots today :x
Have called tmob, im waiting for them to call me back now
a bit of googling and i found it seems the problem is quite common-
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=235270&st=0
i noticed, today the rebooting has been really frequent and its the first time in ages i actually got sined into msn messenger-(albeit for 15 minutes before "unexpected error" ) just wondering if maybe the 2 things are connected in any way?
also havent activesynced for a couple of days
seems theres a new tmob uk rom out very soon-hope tis fixes this very annoying problem
dmonik, Good find mate, I noticed that mine restarts when ive put a large film on the Mini SD Card

I've tried the Activesync fake server trick from that thread, seems to help in some ways. But, I've found that if you cold boot or soft-reset, then the AS schedule returns to how it was before the change, so you have to do it again.

[Q] phone dialer screen scrambled issues

Hi all,
I have a T8285 (Telstra) HD with Dutty's 1.8 ROM, and the other day I seem to have lost my phone dialer screen {pictured below}. I've searched the forum and can't see that anyone else has had the same issue. I don't think its a ROM issue as it was working last weekend. I've also uninstalled all programs on the device and that hasn't fixed the problem. The only program left I can't remove is "darklord69 Battery Meter v2", could this have something to do with it? Any help would be much appreciated.
bump......................
I got kind of same thing with my stock ROM.
But at that time, I played with WVGAFIX3, and skyfire. I beleived this was the reason.
Since I use skyfire's last version (compitaible with the HD screen resolution) and so since I stopped using WVGAFIX3, I never got this again.
I ended up flashing the ROM and the problem is now resolved. might hold off on those HTC so called "hotfixes" this time round...

Phone freeze at 11:55pm

Hi all
I'm running Dutty 3.3 ROM and I've noticed a problem that I can't seem to fix.
I'm not sure what's triggereing this issue so I'm not so sure its my ROM but at 11:54-11:55pm at noght my phone freezes and wont respond until I reboot, obviously this is annoying as I use my phone for my morning alarm.
I have installed SKTools and cleaned my duplicate notifications, thinking perhaps there was a conflict. This didn't work.
I'm thinking there is a service that runs just before midnight that freezes my phone, but have no idea what, can anyone suggest any ideas, or perhaps someone has experienced similar. I have searched the Dutty 3.3 ROM thread and can't find anyone else with the same issue.
Thanks in advance.

There are a few, including me who have experienced this. Crackwhore is looking into it. If you go to the thread and you can answer Crackwhores questions it may help to get a solution
thanks for the headsup, I re-searched for 'midnight freeze' and found all you others with the same issue, I have now re-reported in the Dutty 3.3 thread.

can someone PLEASE help me with my htc sense problem???

i went into settings and turned sense off because on the tmobile forum people were saying that turning sense off and then turning it back one could help to solve sense related problems.
ive done it before on my friends hd2 and it worked so i tried it on mine last night...i rechecked the sense box and got it back in my today screen, but now all my long press/pop up menus are still windows mobile default instead of sense!
can anybody help me?

No immediate cause or solution comes to mind, but tell me this: what were the initial issues you were having that caused you to try rebooting sense as a solution?
Also, is this phone new? Or maybe recently flashed with a new ROM (custom or official)?

[Q] HD2 Partially Frozen?!?

Hi all, Yesterday I changed my set up from HD2Froyo_V3 to AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB233 CM7|bkup2sdext234 [KERNEL:AmCanAndroid r3.06] Cyanogen CM7 (Gingerbread 2.3.3) (off SD card).
Installed and after some bugginess, it worked fine. It did eventually stop responding as before. I could use the hard keys to toggle it from sleeping/not sleeping, but it stopped recognizing any touch, anywhere on the screen.
So, I did a hard reset. Worked at first, then stopped working again.
So I went to T-Mo (even though I am using it unlocked on ATT) and updated the ROM to 3.14.531.1. Restarted, and still not working.
Bottom line: All the hard buttons work, but the screen does not respond. Was going to go through Task 29, but not sure if there is something else to do in the meantime
Currently:
2.15.50.14
15.42.50.11
3.14.531.1
Please help! Thanks
I had this problem before. It means the screen is dead. Call T-Mobile and have them send you a replacement phone.
Thanks for the reply- is that the only solution? I had originally searched "screen frozen" and didnt get anything that sounded like my issue. I have since found other posts with "screen unresponsive", but other than sending the phone back, there havent been many solutions.
Know of anything else to try before I do that?
Also to note- my phone/battery is not running hot at all like many others have reported.

T-Mobile Advice
Update: So I just got back from the Tmo store, and explained the situation to one of the guys. He sounded like he knew exactly what I was talking about, even mentioned his great site and how he uses it.
He told me that this was a known issue and had to do with HTC Sense-this sound right to anyone? He also said that there was an update to the ROM to correct it. however, the ROM is 2.13.531.1, which is older than what I just changed to- does this make sense to anyone? (http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/)
Thank you.
