have a stock rom HTC Desire HD that I've using for 3 months with but since yesterday I have problem with the speaker. There is echo whenever I'm talking and I can't hear the person at the other end well. Also a kind of low volume and robotic voice when the other person talk but he he can hear me clearly. I haven't rooted my phone. I bought the phone from UK but using in Malaysia
Can someone please help me with solution to this problem. Its really frustrating
Hi there, I had the same problem and it's an easy fix, I just posted about it in another thread:

Hope this helps!

Hi, I've searched everywhere trying to fix the problem but none suggested by other users was able to fix it.
The problem I have is when someone calls me, I can barely hear them. However, when I make calls to other people, the call volume is absolutely perfect. I'm talking about the incall volume, not ringer just incase some people misread it.
I've done replacing the htcleo.acdb and default.acdb files, that didn't do it.
Some have suggested that turning off the Keypad tone fixed this issue, but it didn't do it for me either.
So if anyone has come across a working fix for this, please share your wisdom with me. Android on the HD2 just makes the phone 100 times better, just need to fix this issue to make it perfect.
It may be the rom
i also have the same problem and i noticed that after changing my rom.
I get that problem sometimes but how I sort it is to turn loud speaker on and off then its fine.

i'm having the same problem with htc tattoo.
just installed the: CyanogenMod 7.0.0-RC2.2 (7007) 2.3.3
Does anybody else have problems where the person you call hears them selves talk? There voice is echoing!
Does flashing a custom rom stop this or is it because of the Crystal Talk stuff?
Thanks
It is possible that you're using speakers and the voice is so loud that they actually hear themselves? If you have not flash a custom rom and you're on official rom then no, you should ask the company to look into this if you still have the warranty.

It's not on loud speaker and the volume is at the lowest point. I only got it on Thursday arranged for it to go back.
Does it do it everywhere? I have had problems with all of my tmobile phones on occasion. Not sure why. My last phone used to do it all the time. Very annoying. Only had it happen once with the defy in the last month.

Never had it before with any phone I have owned. It's seems to be worse when i'm outside when the wind is hitting the second mic, also when this happens it sort of makes it sort of sound like i've got my head in a box when I talk. Hope that makes sense? Iv'e tried all the call quality settings but it's still the same. It has to be this Crystal Talk Type or what ever it is..
Thanks for the reply guys.
Our of curiosity, while this is happening, have you tried opening the usb cover to see if that changes the sound. There is at least one report of a "pressurized" effect on the Defy (as it's sealed) causing sound issues, relieved when the ysb cover or battery cover are removed.

hhmmmmm interesting, I did think about the hands free speaker being behind the battery cover when I tried calling someone and they said it was terrible echo.
I'll go and try it and let you know.
Thanks

Please ask all questions in the Q&A section. Thread moved there.
Even if this thread is old, is there a solution?
Whenever I'm in a call the other person always hear an echo of his own voice. I have no sound problem. It's a I9505.
Anyone know if this is a hardware of a software problem? Anything I could do to fix it?
I bought the phone from an online store, so replacing it could takes weeks .

You are not alone*!
Different callers told me they hear their own voice, too. Are you using tho stock ROM*? Which variant of the phone do you own*?
I own a i9505 with a Google play based ROM.

I have the same problem, at least since december.
I have mine with kitkat since then, but I see you had the same problem earlier on.
Any solution?
Certainly microphone failure.
Hi, I recently started to have a call issue where people can't hear me over their phones. Seems to happen with iPhone users a lot. Doesn't matter if I call them or if they call me, the other person can't hear me, no matter how I position the phone or how loud I speak. But if I turn on speaker phone, than they hear me perfectly once again.
I tried disabling voice enhancement which seemed to help a little bit.
I was wondering if there was anyone else that is having a similar issue.
I am hoping this is something I can fix, and not a hardware issue like a broke mic.
I am rooted running Tmobile clean rom. No major mods or anything.

I am having this issue: when someone call me i can't hear them, but they can hear me. I can hear them if i activate the speaker though. I have LineageOS 17 on my phone, but i am not sure if it is a software issue because i am using this rom more than a year and i started having this issue few weeks ago.
Any idea what could be the reason for this problem?
