Hi, I recently started to have a call issue where people can't hear me over their phones. Seems to happen with iPhone users a lot. Doesn't matter if I call them or if they call me, the other person can't hear me, no matter how I position the phone or how loud I speak. But if I turn on speaker phone, than they hear me perfectly once again.
I tried disabling voice enhancement which seemed to help a little bit.
I was wondering if there was anyone else that is having a similar issue.
I am hoping this is something I can fix, and not a hardware issue like a broke mic.
I am rooted running Tmobile clean rom. No major mods or anything.

On calls I get popping sounds. a few times the pops have been so loud I almost dropped.
The microphone is also really low. people can't hear me I use to be able (Gnexus) to set the phone down and talk with it on the computer table next to me but now they can't hear me.

Standard 'is this a hardware problem?' test:
1. If you are on a custom ROM, flash completely back to stock and retest.
2. If you are already on stock, backup all your data and factory reset. Even better, completely wipe the phone and re-install stock and retest.
3. If the issue still occurs, the issue is most likely with the hardware. If the issue no longer occurs, then it was a software problem.
4. If I understand this reply correctly, you have already received a replacement device and the issue still occurs. In this case, you happen to be very unlucky.
As for the Nexus 4 in general, I can only speak anecdotally. I don't have the issue on the seven Nexus 4 devices I've tested: two of my own, three from coworkers/friends who also own the device, and two test devices.

Since the issue only happens during Skype calls and not while using the standard calling function, I would blame this issue on VOIP quality: either your latency is high, Skype is having quality issues, or some combination of the two. I have issues with Skype call quality on both my phone and my PC, and the issues are largely to do with Skype throttling the call bandwidth.
what about my mic issue the sounds very low. is there a way to change the gain on the microphone? I always use my phone by calling 1 of my friends I'm placing the phone beside my desk as I speak with them they can't hear me with this new phone they were able to perfectly hear me with the galaxy Nexus.

No advice?
Just got my D800 under two weeks ago from best buy, and I was curious if anyone else is having this problem too, or if anyone knows a fix.
For MOST of my phone calls, I'll get an extremely annoying echo of my own voice in the earpiece, speaker, headphones, or whatever Bluetooth accessory I'm using, which makes it next to impossible to carry on a conversation longer than a few minutes. I tried shutting off the noise suppression that LG has built into the OS, that didn't do it, I've done countless reboots, I don't know what else I can do aside from changing my hardware.
If this is an AT&T problem, I'll more likely than not switch back to Verizon before week's end, I just need a solution to this problem somehow.
Has anyone else gotten this problem or can suggest a fix?

Hi, I'm writing to you to address a problem I have been having for a while now. When I speak on the phone and the speaker is off, the other person hears themself echo. It works fine when the speaker is on but when the speaker is on everyone hears your conversation.
and,
My friend has the same phone (LG G2 D802) as me and we were speaking on Viber and again without the speaker on it was echoing for the both of us. When we both turned on our speakers it started making a static like sound. Oddly enough when we turned off the speaker both the static sound and the echoing stopped. It was weird but i dont want to have to turn the speaker on off everytime and even when i do it doesnt work everytime.
My Device: LG G2 D802 (Android 4.4.2)
Same problem here, I think its common to all G2s.
I haven't tried it on a custom Rom yet cause I've been running stock mostly, but I'm betting its software.
Same problem here
Hello, its not just Viber its almost all of the VoIP clients. I have serious doubts about "its software issue" well I have tried almost 4 different roms. from stock 4.2.2 to CM 11. Nothing seems to work. I wonder its the chip. i don't know i am not expert.
if you have any VoIP working plz share. thanks.
For everyone that is experiencing this issue: we are gathering more information and would appreciate if you could open a support ticket here: http://bit.ly/1aOwGy2 in order to help us investigate.
I had an issue with my LG G2 where people can't hear me when I call them. If I turn on speakerphone, they can usually hear me then. So I exchanged my G2 for a new one. Same problem now. About every 5th call or so, people can't hear me. It's driving me nuts. Could there be some software that's messing things up? I have google voice installed, and while most of the calls in question are GV calls, not all of them are. Just called someone now from my regular number and they couldn't hear me. Anyone have any tips or even advice on how I can tackle this?
Running latest Android updates and apps always, no root. Verizon. Calls placed from random locations (and even different states).
I am having the same issue. There are a couple of things I have tried. The most promising is to turn off Google hotword detection on every screen.
You can also try turning off the Privacy Keeper and Voice Enhancement in Call Settings. If any of this works for you, or you find and answer, let me know!

Having the same issue with 2 lines, same LG G2 phone. Called Verizon, was told it sounds like a hardware issue. I'm thinking it's something to do with their Android update personally.
Had exact same issue and took phone to repair center. They said it was mic issue. They ended up replacing the entire phone but guess what - issue is still there on new phone.

I've seen this issue on many forums and with the number of people that are having the problem, it has to be either LG flaw or a software issue. I'm trying turning off the ok google, noise cancellation, and privacy keeper. But I'm pretty sure I tried those on the last phone with the same results.
Just to make sure we're all having the same issue, you can be heard once you turn on speakerphone, correct?
Update on this: Still having the issue after disabling ok google hotword..

I read your reply some time ago but didn't answer because I had no answer.
Today the bug appeared again so I turned on speakerphone like you said. Guess what, they could then hear me!
Thanks for the tip @eepyikes, its a good workaround but lets hope for a proper solution.

Any of you with this issue also have a Pebble or other type of smart watch?
I've noticed the same problem but the issue goes away when my Pebble isn't actively paired.

-Correction- I hadn't had this issue since I disconnected my Pebble about 10 days back. It came back today when I made a call. What I noticed today is.......
When I switched to the speakerphone the person still couldn't hear me very well. Switching back to mic the problem is still there. But when I turned on my BT headset the audio was fine. Switching back to the phone mic from the BT the problem cleared up.
Did a test call initiating the call on the BT headset and had the same audio problem through BT. Switching back to the phone mic or speakerphone cleared it up.
Initiated another call on the speakerphone. Same audio problem. Switched to BT and it cleared up again. Switched back to the phone mic and it was still fine.
Seems the issue is there when initiating the call on BT, mic or speakerphone but switching from BT to the phone or phone to BT clears it up. I'm on a D801 (TMO) and first noticed this about three weeks back.
Rebooting the phone seemed to clear it up at least for the short term. I just noticed that the Google search app updated on the phone about two/three weeks back. Seems about the same time I started noticing the issue.
I had a backup of Google search 4.1.29 from back in January. Just restored that version and blocked it from updating to see if the issue comes back again.
Interesting to see this is also on the d802. Mine is the VS980.
The 13qcelp trick does not fix it. So tired of this!
Any other tricks out there??
Happened twice in one day. New record for me. Sick of people saying "hello?? Anyone there??? Hello??" until i turn speakers on. With speakers sound is horrible so really annoying! Wonder if issue will happen with AOSP/CM roms.....

Got the 6P, love the phone, but Im having an issue. Whenever Im in a call, and Im using a wired headset/headphones (mic and earphones), I can hear the microphone. Meaning, I can hear myself. If I tap the microphone, I can hear it too. And the thing is, its much louder than the sound of the person Im on the call with. It makes calls quite frustrating because I can hear the mic rubbing up against my shirt more than I can ever hear the other person. Whats going on here? Anyone else have this problem? Ive tried several different mics and its all the same issue. Is this a problem with the phone? I just bought it, should I return it?
I don't have such issue but it was recently made aware that when using the speaker it causes "noises". Not sure if ota updates will fix it or not. If I were you and you are within the return policy, do it and order another one. Perhaps you got a lemon?
