Alright, I've been doing a rotation of Dead Horse, Dragon 4, and more recently DOW14fow, and I think Morfic has got it. OCed, Voodoo sound and lagfix, and great battery life. There are still some little glitches, but I'm impressed. It sleeps properly and I'm losing 1-2%/hr.

I've tried like every kernel out there and I stopped because the i9k kernels just had terrible battery. Now, theres no reason not to use the DoW kernel-- optional OC (very stable), voodoo sound, BLN. Just needs speedmod and maybe some refresh tweaks and itll be blazing fast and smooth!
Does it have the earphone bug where if the Mic is plugged in you can hear the person but they can't here you?

I think so, yes, but I use a bt headset so it's no biggie for me.

+1 I do like Dead Horse and Dragon, but Morific did a hell of a job with DOW. I'm getting good battery life OC'd to 1.4 gHz. He's going to add voodoo color and updated BLN in the next release as well. For some reason, my Klipsch headphones don't like T959 source, but they work flawlessly with I9000, so I'm going to stick to only I9000 kernels for a while.

If you like touch wiz, bionix final.
If you don't like touch wiz, bionix fusion 1.2.
You can use their core v3 kernel for both of these. Best battery life I've had by far.

Im wondering if anybody can attest to the stability and reliability as well as safety concerns with running a galaxy s phonew at 1200 mhz. I see a lot oflash kernels boasting this overclock. Thanks in advance

Flash and find out. If it doesn't freeze, your good. Some phones can't handle the oc. There's really no grey area, it will either be stable, or it won't. 1.2 is the standard, and is probably the safest. I'm at 1.48 and stable.

I'm mainly concerned for overheating as I've cooked a couple pc processors
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
Use setCPU and set up a temperature profile. I have mine set so when the phone hits 120 F, the processor scales down to stock clock speed and cools off.

U will not have any heat issues unless ur charging ur phone. When u charge a galaxy s phone ur gets very warm including in stock speeds
Definitely. The Infuse 4G has the same hummingbird chip overclocked to 1.2 ghz by default, so it should run with no issues. I can doing 1.3 ghz with no problem. Can't hit 1.4 though.
Sucks since my last phone could handle 1.6 ghz (through a custom 1.6 ghz DOW kernel, thanks Morific!).
It is safe but you lose battery life so that didn't work for me but it is safe and no overheating issues
Dunno what Kernel i used but it was by Morific, and was discontinued for being unstable, but my phone has been able to go up to 1.4, they tried a 1.6 but was far too unstable or something.

I think the Manhattan project messes with the environmental properties of the phone or something.

Yes, the Manhattan project was a dud since it never really overclocked the device. In fact it only slowed it down.
But I requested a 1.6 ghz version of the DOW kernel from Morific, just for fun. Surprisingly it worked well with my old device.

That depends on the phone a lot. I know lots of people who use 1200 but I did with Overstock and Tigers Blood and my phone would freeze. Also use set cpu for the same side to keep an eye on temp.

I've had no problems oc'in, but it really does depend on your chip. Been running mine at 1420 for a week, super stable never gone above 29c under load. IMO, just have to give it a shot and see how stable it is for you.
I'm using Bullet and have been getting great battery life even with it fully OC'd. About 20-25 hrs with moderate use.

I've been flip-flopping between the venerable overstock 1.x and 2.x versions (with trigger) for a couple of months, but I've seen some promising buzz for a few other kernels in the last few weeks.
I'm big on battery life; but speed/smoothness, voodoo, bln, and other nice features are also important to me. Bali sounds promising...
Anyone care to share their experience with and reasoning for their current favorites?
Overstock simply because it runs great and I've never had any issues. Don't care to try any others

I'm using Tigers Blood for a little over a month now with Trigger 3. I like it, OC'd to 1.2 and tweaked voltage. The battery is a pretty happy medium for my use

Bali most definitely. I'm running 1.8.4 with Bi-Winning and routinely get 35-40+ hours with my normal moderate use.
Edit: Let me correct that. With Bali 1.8.3 that's what I was getting. Still reconditioning the battery since I updated to 1.8.4...

Im running CM7 with HighLeakage Glitch kernel.
When I'm plugged in to the charger, and Overclocked to 1.4GHz, my phone gets very hot. Should I lower the volts or the frequency?
And overclocking, if done right, wont damage the hardware? Like if their was not alot of heat?
Could I run 1.4ghz without so much heat? I have undervolted it -50mV volts.
Is it the high leakage?
What should I do?
Any input would be appreciated.

My phone runs really hot when using I heart radio and charging it at the same time...i'm also clocked to 1.4...since you are running overclock anything is possible but Samsung put code in their latest release for 1200mhz so I would say that is safe...also high leakage does emit the most heat since it is the least efficient..try running medium and low with the same overclock...it may help with heat

its too late this time, but remember that you can use the command 'reboot recovery' in adb to avoid having to do a full odin in most cases. I made a guide about getting adb up and running for noobs. You can find it in my created thread history.

there should be an entire explanation on what the different leakages mean. it'd be nice to read rather than guessing

Just a heads up, if you ask in our threads, then a developer can actually answer your question, as opposed to the users trying to help you. Especially since this is the third thread you've started with questions like this, almost all of which are answerable in my thread.
I was comparing the screen on my Vibrant with the screen on my Nexus S, and I was noticing how yellow the Nexus S screen is. Anyway to fix this with a kernel? I am running the stock ota.

fixed! the Trinity TEI6S kernel http://goo.gl/QAuKi
im running this on a stock/rooted 4.0.3 rom, and it runs great. the Trinity kernels have their own color. more white. less dirty yellow. its undervolted/underclocked with an overclocked bus/gpu of 220mhz. its friendly to the battery yet very quick.
I was upset last 3 days cause the yellow color of my nexus s screen( absolutely worst than my vibrant ). With new kernel, i now can enjoy my Super Amoled screen again. Thanks. However, i still have the green screen flicker issue. Hope it can be fixed in future update.

Just wondering what settings you're using in Voodoo to correct the yellow color?
I have GLaDOS v2.4 and I'm running the Voodoo color profile and left everything else alone. However, in white areas, there still seems to be a yellowish tint.
Flash kernel that support vodoo..then discuss here..

Installed it, it gave me a green screen and Voodoo control does not work.... so I will try Glados kernel. By the way I also tried the Trinity kernel on the thread, but when I installed that it didn't even let my phone start up.

I bounce between GLaDOS and Matr1x and voodoo.
I prefer how glados operates with my phone and sph33r ics rom, but the random reboots are an annoyance.
Matr1x doesn't cause my phone to reboot, plus it features SmartassV2, but BLD and 100mhz min don't work for me Wish there was one perfect kernel for ics, like FrancoFrancisco was for gingerbread.

Matr1x v13.0 ics kernel by Mathkid95. It runs very quickly, smoothly, and no reboots whatsoever.
It features bln, bld, SmartassV2, it's undervolted, but does not include deep idle in these latest releases.
Try it!
Ive disabled deep idle by default due to wake problems
100mhz min works for me with setcpu
I will look into bld
