Loudest NAND with good GPS and Battery - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi... a pretty straight forward question but a less than simple answer I'm sure.
I love Android on my HD2 and have been trying all the different roms, from SD and now NAND. I'm not that bothered about Sense or Stock builds, I like some of the features of Gingerbread but am quite happy with Froyo.
But I am still struggling to find a NAND rom with loud ringtone and alarm volume and also give me a fairly good/quick GPS fix.
For me the priority is:-
1. Volume, louder the better (I depend on the alarm and currently miss lots of calls I don't hear).
2. GPS - I often need to refer to my HD2 for an instant "where am I".... sometimes I find myself waiting for minutes.
3. Battery... well we are all on a quest for 3 days standby i suppose
4. Bluetooth (phone and streaming must work faultlessly)
With so many variations I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of a NAND build that will provide me with the above features please.

Have a look on Jaws-MIUI by lesjaw
I like it. using this few weeks now and for now I havent find any big issue on it.
I've tried many Android ROMs before but this is my favorite and its look I keep it for a while.

2. Dont seen again problems. For quicker connection (30-40 sec, normally 40-50 sec) i use time at time free GPS Status at market, to download new satellites data. For using with Navigon Select i just replaced libmedia.so file on /system/lib (attached to post)

I felt this ROM was the one for me that it would keep me from using Windows 6.5, because after playing with the windows 7 mobile phone, lets face it 6.5 is Vista (takes up too much space and runs slow) anyways I like to punish my phones by taking them to the limits. So I am asking other users who have used this ROM have you experienced any of the following and if so? How did you fix them?
1. Voicemail notifier not working even after downloading notifer from market
2. GPS sometimes takes a long time on social apps (twitter, four square)
3. GPS Navi has frozen up on me at times
4. I am experiencing some lag sometimes especially when using GPS Navi
5. Volume sometimes is loud or low depending on who I am talking too
Other then these small issues this rom is pretty cool and i am so happy to be back on Andriod
HD2 phone running on T-mobile just to let you know
Really no one?

i am using energy rom cookie 10/08, the newest radio.

[Q] Need help figuring out how to improve battery life of my HD2!

Hey guys. sorry if theres a thread like this already. im new to this forum and searched for nearly 3 hours but didnt find much of what i was looking for.
i have a t-mobile 1024 Hd2 with a custom windows mobile ROM LEO_firestorm_v7.4.23135-FX
and a android ROM (installed to SD)
mattcfroyo 1.5
and i also have setcpu installed. the phone(and both rom's) work great. the only issue is the battery life. my phone even when i would barely use it would maybe make it about 12 hours on a charge(doing very little web browsing, turning wifi/ bluetooth off when not in use, brightness around 30%). what have you guys done to get better battery life? should i install different ROMS? is there a WM rom that is basically barebones so it takes less resources and improves battery life? i dont care what the WM side looks like as i only want to use android anyways. i want to use Android as my main OS and how should i setup setcpu? really sorry if this thread is a repeat. if there is another asking exactly what i am please give me a link. im very new to this, so guides are very appreciated aswell.
i did find the thread "HOW TO: Wipe Battery stats to improve battery life" and ill be trying that. what i mainly want to know is how to guys have your roms and setcpu setup.
links to better roms/guides etc. are very appreciated. thanks allot guys.
any rom needs to be compatible with the 1024 hd2 though.
Hi and welcome to XDA,
I've my phone set up as shown in my signature. I don't use bluetooth, basically have no calls, some texts and fairly heavy browsing (web, tapatalk pro, newsrob pro) when I'm on the train. I have a 3mA-5mA drainage in standby. My phone will last 10-12 hours on a charge, after which I have to plug it in. I'm kinda used to it now, but last week I thought I'd give UltimateJuice a try. My phone lasted a little over 17hrs, though I probably used it a bit less intensive that day. The days after I got about 14-15 hours a day with regular use.
I have JuiceDefender installed, which also manages cpu speed. Basically it allows the cpu up to 614 Mhz when the phone is sleeping and 1190 Mhz when awake. Screen brightness is set to 15% currently. When I'm at home, JuiceDefender switches WiFi on automatically, when I'm outside it connects to 3G every 15 minute during 1 minute (adjustable).
Drainage is still somewhat heavier compared to WM, but I can live with it.
Sincerely,
Mac
looks like i found a solution today. last night i underclocked my cpu to 700mhz and i have not seen any performance difference and the battery is lasting allot longer. i have been using it moderately and the battery has gone down 8% in 3 hours of use which is already allot better than before.
i checked my battery power and after it was fully charged it showed 4.2mah so i knew that wasnt the problem. does anybody have the problem that their contacts(in android) are removed if they soft reset their phone? and if so does saving contacts to sim work to fix it? thanks

No, that doesn't sound familiar. Are you syncing your contacts with your Google account?

backup everything before you do this though. it's known to cause crash at startup and you won't be able to use your android again.
im having a problem with my hd2. i made a call today. and all the incoming voice sounded like a decepticon. kinda cool but definately not useful to actually talking to a person. what should i do to fix this? is it the rom i am using?

it's a known issue. read the faq.

[Q] A little help please?

Ok so first of all I have searched for these problems and cannot seem to find anything that will fix them for me.
I am currently using darkstones's SuperRAM Froyo v1.5 and I'm loving it. However there are a few little niggles that I am hoping someone can help me clear up. They are as follows:
1. Battery drain -every possible option that will save battery has been set but still the battery will not last 12hours, with moderate usage! Is there something I can do to, perhaps see me through a day without needing to charge?
2. Poor audio quality - when playing music through the speakers it sounds awful, any sort of bass on the track results in it sounding distorted and crackely. Is there a fix available?
3. Lock screen controls - is there any way I can get lock screen controls for my music?
Other than these couple of things I would say that darkstone has cracked it with his build. I am no expert, I have recently just come across to the HD2 from another HTC Andriod build but in comparison this version of Andriod is so much better.
Thanks in advance.
Luke
Formatting or using another sd card may solve problems 1 & 2, can't promise though. Do you have these problems with other builds too?
About 3: Sense and Cyanogenmod based builds have decent lockscreen controls.
Many thanks for the quick reply Stephen.
I have tried the format route and it has not worked. The battery I have no idea about, but my phone cut out it now due to no battery however my gauge was advising me I had 20% remaining.
The sound I'm thinking the levels were set to high during the build and so may just be a bug. If I use at reduced volume its fine but as soon as I turn it up it becomes distorted, same for ringtones and call audio is somewhat tinny.
Can you recommend a decent Sense build?
Cheers

Cyanogen battery drain HELP !!

Hello. I used cyanogen mod in the past on my desire hd, then switched to rcmixhd, then back to cyanogen (newer release). I noticed first of all that the battery lasts really shorter time. I don't know why, but in the night it goes from 60 to 15% without using anything (no 3g, no wifi, no applications, no alarm), i just leave the telephone on. It hasn't happened to me before.
I flashed a new radio, I will see what happens, but can the radio make a difference in the battery related problem?
Apart from this, i am happy with cyanogen.
One rom related question: is it possible to change the incoming call layout? I am very used to the possibility of 'SILENTING' the call. Let's say someone calls, I want to have the possibility to make the phone NOT ring while still NOT refusing the call. On this rom I only have 2 buttons: accept and decline. No 'silent ringtone' available while the phone rings, which is different to refusing the call. I just want to keep the incoming call without the ringtone, after the call starts...i think you understand what i mean, it is a common function in every rom I had.
And also: I tried the game 'backstab HD'. It runs really with poor framerate. Is it normal? It has good graphics ok, but I don't think it's normal for a game built for phones to go that slow. Modern combat goes very smooth...even reckless racing HD now goes smoother than before. Backstab is almost unplayable. I think I could do something with chainfire 3d ?

Volume down should silence the ring/vibrate.
tonight battery went from 70% to 2% (from 3.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.). I find it impossible to use the phone like this.
How can I fix this battery problem? Last time I used cyanogen the battery could last up to 3 days with normal use. With the time the ROM should get better, not worse....I am searching for a solution, many people have this problem and no one knows how to fix it.

Hi !
Check out the radio threads, and see the setups from the other guys.
I had heavy battery drain with different radios. The last radio from cyanogen
( running alienmind v1.99 ) works great now.
Just need to test everything and need to find the best setup for you
Now, one of better think is to make a full charge of your battery, device turned off.
when you reboot your device(at 100%), go in CWM=>advanced=>clean/wipe battery stat.
Do it two or three time and see...
if no result you can instal Battery History for GB
Look if something drain anormaly your battery.
If no result, change ROM
If no result, change your dead battery.
And read this guide
i did the reset of the battery stats today, things may be better. I will also flash another radio to try everything. If not, I really don't know, i may have to change rom although i was happy with cyanogen the first time.
Just backup your old rom and flash (wipe) the newest from cyanogen... and see yourself.
If the battery drain is still there ( i hope not )
I had only problems with cyanogen when i customized it ( other radios, kernels and widgets )
so which radio is the best for the latest cm7? I have the Telus version if that makes a difference. thx
Yeah I was getting pretty severe battery drains too, but then I updated my radio and RIL and now it's significantly better. Here is a guide to update your radio:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295&highlight=radio
After that I updated my RIL using CWM. Just go to Download ROM -> gtg465x -> RIL Flasher.
I'm currently using Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 with AlienMinds CM 7.1 v 1.9.9 with great success. Great battery life and smooth operation.

[Q] Most stable ROM with GPS + Camera

I know that there has been quite a lot of these threads, and I've gone through a lot of them, but I havent really found a pattern as to the suggested ROMs, so I'm going to have a go myself with a new thread and I hope you will bear with me...
The thing is that I need to use my HD2 with Android for work related use (self-employed freight carrier). And I only have a few specific requirements:
- SUPER stable!
- Working GPS (For use with both Google Navigation and CoPilot v8 Professionel)
- Working Camera (For taking a few pictures, if I come across damaged goods - video not required)
- Decent battery life (I don't need 160 hours of stand-by as it will be on cable in the car most of the time - but it would be nice if it could hold a weekend on pure standby)
- And then it will be using an app programmed by a local software house, but I do not know the requirements of this. But it is installed as a service and works together with the two navigation systems.
I will NOT be using it for phonecalls or text messages at all. There will only be a data SIM card in it.
Currently I have only tried NexusHD2 Gingerbread v3.2a NAND (installed with MAGLDR). And it usually reboots 3-4 times a day + Google Navigation closes a couple of times during a workday. And 1-2 times a day it locks up so I have to remove battery.
This is not acceptable for my use, when I'm driving a car and sometimes need to rely 100% on my navigation. No disrespect to tytung. I may just have a bad phone or have been very unlucky with your ROM.
I dont care what version of Android the ROM is built on as long as the above requirements are met.
Thanks a lot for your time and any suggestions.

Thank you very much. I will have a look at it.
Other suggestions are still welcome.
