Ok so first of all I have searched for these problems and cannot seem to find anything that will fix them for me.
I am currently using darkstones's SuperRAM Froyo v1.5 and I'm loving it. However there are a few little niggles that I am hoping someone can help me clear up. They are as follows:
1. Battery drain -every possible option that will save battery has been set but still the battery will not last 12hours, with moderate usage! Is there something I can do to, perhaps see me through a day without needing to charge?
2. Poor audio quality - when playing music through the speakers it sounds awful, any sort of bass on the track results in it sounding distorted and crackely. Is there a fix available?
3. Lock screen controls - is there any way I can get lock screen controls for my music?
Other than these couple of things I would say that darkstone has cracked it with his build. I am no expert, I have recently just come across to the HD2 from another HTC Andriod build but in comparison this version of Andriod is so much better.
Thanks in advance.
Luke
Formatting or using another sd card may solve problems 1 & 2, can't promise though. Do you have these problems with other builds too?
About 3: Sense and Cyanogenmod based builds have decent lockscreen controls.
Many thanks for the quick reply Stephen.
I have tried the format route and it has not worked. The battery I have no idea about, but my phone cut out it now due to no battery however my gauge was advising me I had 20% remaining.
The sound I'm thinking the levels were set to high during the build and so may just be a bug. If I use at reduced volume its fine but as soon as I turn it up it becomes distorted, same for ringtones and call audio is somewhat tinny.
Can you recommend a decent Sense build?
Cheers

In calls, the person in the other end complain about extreme background noice. You can leave the HD2 on the table - go to the other end of the room and gently tap the wall.. On the other end of the call, this sounds like you're knocking ON the phone - the mic amplification is that loud..
I've been searching the forums for days no without any luck.. No mather what I do, I don't get this fixed. I've been trying combining different WinMo ROMs, Android versjons, rootfs versions and kernels but with no luck.. Tried almost all radio's out there.. both TMOUS and non-TMOUS versions.
This is an EU version HD2 and - I'm using the operator Netcom in Norway if that matters.
Any, any tips/hints what-so-ever are welcome.
I have the same rom/radio as you. In my case, when talking to someone on the other side they can ear their own voice like like an ecko.
It's not just this radio (radio in signature) - there are problems with all radios I've tried...
I've experienced the same behaviour with my setup (see sig) The caller on the other end of the line hears a lot of background noise...
I would like to know what is causing this, as different radio's don't make a difference. Does anyone have a clue?
Actually the sound driver used in kernel is not finished. Developers know about the problems, but other things need to be fixed first!

I actually disagree.
This is the ONLY reason I'm not using Android as my default OS. I actually wouldn't mind so much if there was excessive background noise on my end, but I can't subject other callers to that.
Tried every Radio since 2.08 and about 15 different ROMS but nothing works.
I hope that this is considered a priority issue and gets resolved asap.
Massive thanks to all the devs working on this, and Android in general. Really appreciate all the hard work guys.
This is what i am talking aboot
Guys,
So close so close... our wait is finally being rewarded...
got round the camcorder issue (downloaded anCorder from Android Market)
and not being able to set alarms (downloaded Alarm Clock V2 from Android market)
Everything else seems fine apart from the most important issue mentioned above (the background loud noise) and of course, the fact that it is launched from WM...
*Awaits impatiently*
PS_ If you install a battery monitor (for percentage) from market (cant remember which one) and everytime you restart the phone says your battery is empty even though its full, then just uninstall that other little program before the screens blanks and locks. Was being impossible for me to come out from sleep.
THANK YOU A THOUSAND TIMES DEVS
I wasn't aware that the sound drivers need further development as a number of users post they have no problems. Well, then i will wait patiently. It could not be long as development is amazing till now, thanks devs!
Background noise fix should be highest priority for the dev till now, as it will make our HD2 next to perfect. When i make a call, the other end sometimes asks me if i'm frying some food hix,
Guys a simple question! (i've searched a lot but didnt find an answer!)
I am using FROYOSTONE V1 daily for over a week now. Tried other builds too, but this is perfect.
Only two issues here! Kinda low volume (system and in call-specially the second!-) and battery life.. Battery life problem dissapeared now, my only trick was using non-live wallpaper, using task manager for killing apps, and funally the best of them..an overclock app! (which i used for under clock) Found in the market.I set the cpu to 485mhz max and auto to 284 when screen off!Sometimes it auto adjust it in the middle, 380something speed!! No lags at or glitches at all!!!
AND NOW I GET EXACTLY THE SAME BATTERY LIFE AS WITH WINMO!! A full day, with heavy usage..Plus 10-15 min to the charger give it an extra 20-30% charge capable of holding 2 hours more..
Only the sound problem needs to be corrected and i will have a perfect build of android with everything i need to work beeing far better than ok!
Cotulla released a zimage that suposed to correct the low sound issue..I tried to use it, but adroid would not boot..
Do you know WHICH EXACTLY ZIMAGE will work with froystone's V1 and correct the low sound issue??
Cause the zimage-latest wont work either.(if i owerwrite then adroid does not boot)
Is there something more i need to do? I dont want to change build,i like sense and all my apps and customizations will be lost..
Thank you in advance!!
I have the low sound issue as well. One of the more clever forum members around here told me to hit the speaker button on, off, on again and off again. (or just leave it on the second time if you want speaker).
This raises the volume considerably.... Although you have to do it each call XD
But with updated zImage its fixed by default!
But i cant update for a reason.Thats why i am asking if i have to use a certain file of zImage that fits with V1 froystone! (or if its not just replacing the zImage file, what more??)
noticed same issue here. It's big difference comparing it to winmo where incall volume is very high and clear. other than this android works great (froyo build).
And one more issue with end key, it doesn't end the call if you press it, it just turns off the screen.
I tried the initial NAND build upon release but had to go back to Winmo for the following reasons;
Higher battery drain than Duttys Family Rom
Led stuck on all the time after a message
No screen rotation
Crashing playing .wma files
Contacts listed by first name, no way to change it without editing it all.
Random freezes, slow to respond after standby, low volume in calls even after trying the speaker fix, g sensor would not calibrate.
All in all, enough to put me off. However, having gone back to winmo I can see that android is the way I want to go.
So, simple question; which build, if any, has the most of these issues fixed particularly battery drain and rotation? I am not bothered about getting 'under the hood' to tweak everything just a nice clean stable ROM with no fancy UI tweaks.
And I have searched on this for days but there are many, many opinions in hundreds of pages of comments. Thought I would ask here for the benefit of anyone else looking for a nice clean android build.
I have only tried the CM build (call me a fanboy), and it's really stable. I have noticed the 60mA battery drain still happens at times, but using Quick Reboot (free on market) one or sometimes multiple times fixes this without too much effort.
Speed, stability and features (well, the ones I use, didn't do a thorough test on everything) are all good.
I will no doubt slap my forehead for this but what is the CM build?
Has any build so far fixed the battery drain and sensor properly?
Cynagen mod =cm
I'm using MDJ's gingerbread its very stable and plenty of free space but no gps usb or camcorder apart from that smoorhest Android build I've ever used and one used most
i suggest NexusHD 1.9 NAND version, it's very stable, smooth and fast and i have no problem with it. just works well ;-)
Are these suggestions based just on personal preference or do they address those issues I had in the first post i.e battery drain, lack of rotation (G-Sensor problem I guess), LED stuck etc?
Appreciate your input all the same but I feel like reflashing Android today and want the best ROM...if those issues are fixed.
CM based or Nexus1. I think that until they are optimized, Sense are a no-go for Nand : too heavy, too big. You will be left with 50-40mo for apps and that includes apps2sd. Count on the double with CM and N1 Nand's. And in terms of battery life, G-sensor, they work perfectly.
The Led seems to give problem to most of the Nand for the moment...
Downloading the Nexus 1 rom now, I can live with the led if sensor and battery are better, especially as it is so easy to get back to winmo if needed.
I Know Ill Slap Myself Too For Asking Nooby Questions...but
Does it Matter What Radio i Use To Flash nand android as long as its above 2.08.whatever number ....i forgot....will it still work
I think I am on 2.50.14 and it installed like a charm. Absolutely great Rom; getting 2ma in idle and everything I wanted works fine.
Two things though;
1. LED doesn't blink to notify of messages
2. .wma files don't play (maybe that is normal for Android).
Just one thing to bear in mind (I didn't). As this is non-sense you cannot use HTC sync so I spent quite a while getting my contacts back in via business card from Outlook.
Great rom so far though. Nice and clean UI.

Try HD2ONE froyo cm 6.1.1 nand.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10246269&postcount=228
It supports using your existing cm6 data.img on sd card. This alleviates the issue of low device storage.
This was rock solid as an sd build and better on nand.
I'll be sticking with this until gingerbread has all features working.
Hi... a pretty straight forward question but a less than simple answer I'm sure.
I love Android on my HD2 and have been trying all the different roms, from SD and now NAND. I'm not that bothered about Sense or Stock builds, I like some of the features of Gingerbread but am quite happy with Froyo.
But I am still struggling to find a NAND rom with loud ringtone and alarm volume and also give me a fairly good/quick GPS fix.
For me the priority is:-
1. Volume, louder the better (I depend on the alarm and currently miss lots of calls I don't hear).
2. GPS - I often need to refer to my HD2 for an instant "where am I".... sometimes I find myself waiting for minutes.
3. Battery... well we are all on a quest for 3 days standby i suppose
4. Bluetooth (phone and streaming must work faultlessly)
With so many variations I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of a NAND build that will provide me with the above features please.
Have a look on Jaws-MIUI by lesjaw
I like it. using this few weeks now and for now I havent find any big issue on it.
I've tried many Android ROMs before but this is my favorite and its look I keep it for a while.

Thanks... how would you rate sound volume compared to say Win Mob. 6.5?
using mdj's rom and love it. very low battery drain.

2. Dont seen again problems. For quicker connection (30-40 sec, normally 40-50 sec) i use time at time free GPS Status at market, to download new satellites data. For using with Navigon Select i just replaced libmedia.so file on /system/lib (attached to post)

3. Honestly 4-6 mA on stanbay mode with running services (Settings, Fancy Widget, Message center, Button savior, Call Light (just testing)), 3g connection 24h and emails verificaiton every 30 min. With that i can get with normal phone using 2 days.

ring wolume maybe 80-90% of winmo and call wolume is i think same. but its individuall.thats what i hear so for someone else can be different

Hello. I used cyanogen mod in the past on my desire hd, then switched to rcmixhd, then back to cyanogen (newer release). I noticed first of all that the battery lasts really shorter time. I don't know why, but in the night it goes from 60 to 15% without using anything (no 3g, no wifi, no applications, no alarm), i just leave the telephone on. It hasn't happened to me before.
I flashed a new radio, I will see what happens, but can the radio make a difference in the battery related problem?
Apart from this, i am happy with cyanogen.
One rom related question: is it possible to change the incoming call layout? I am very used to the possibility of 'SILENTING' the call. Let's say someone calls, I want to have the possibility to make the phone NOT ring while still NOT refusing the call. On this rom I only have 2 buttons: accept and decline. No 'silent ringtone' available while the phone rings, which is different to refusing the call. I just want to keep the incoming call without the ringtone, after the call starts...i think you understand what i mean, it is a common function in every rom I had.
And also: I tried the game 'backstab HD'. It runs really with poor framerate. Is it normal? It has good graphics ok, but I don't think it's normal for a game built for phones to go that slow. Modern combat goes very smooth...even reckless racing HD now goes smoother than before. Backstab is almost unplayable. I think I could do something with chainfire 3d ?

Volume down should silence the ring/vibrate.
tonight battery went from 70% to 2% (from 3.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.). I find it impossible to use the phone like this.
How can I fix this battery problem? Last time I used cyanogen the battery could last up to 3 days with normal use. With the time the ROM should get better, not worse....I am searching for a solution, many people have this problem and no one knows how to fix it.

Hi !
Check out the radio threads, and see the setups from the other guys.
I had heavy battery drain with different radios. The last radio from cyanogen
( running alienmind v1.99 ) works great now.
Just need to test everything and need to find the best setup for you
Now, one of better think is to make a full charge of your battery, device turned off.
when you reboot your device(at 100%), go in CWM=>advanced=>clean/wipe battery stat.
Do it two or three time and see...
if no result you can instal Battery History for GB
Look if something drain anormaly your battery.
If no result, change ROM
If no result, change your dead battery.
And read this guide
i did the reset of the battery stats today, things may be better. I will also flash another radio to try everything. If not, I really don't know, i may have to change rom although i was happy with cyanogen the first time.
Just backup your old rom and flash (wipe) the newest from cyanogen... and see yourself.
If the battery drain is still there ( i hope not )
I had only problems with cyanogen when i customized it ( other radios, kernels and widgets )
so which radio is the best for the latest cm7? I have the Telus version if that makes a difference. thx
Yeah I was getting pretty severe battery drains too, but then I updated my radio and RIL and now it's significantly better. Here is a guide to update your radio:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295&highlight=radio
After that I updated my RIL using CWM. Just go to Download ROM -> gtg465x -> RIL Flasher.
I'm currently using Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 with AlienMinds CM 7.1 v 1.9.9 with great success. Great battery life and smooth operation.
