My G2 has extremely weak vibration to the point that I think there is something wrong with the motor (or its just too old). Unfortunately, I don't have warranty anymore so I was wondering if there is any way I can fix this.
The phone is less than a year old, how do you not have warranty anymore?
Or am I missing something?
The reason I don't have warranty is because I bought the phone from another person (ebay).
Ahh I hear ya. Well I have heard from dozens of people who say that HTC has honored the warranty even though possession has changed hands. I'd try and see if you get lucky.
Try registering the device with HTC first, via their website. If you're lucky the prior owner won't have done that and it'll look even more legit that you are the original owner. I would definitely NOT mention to the rep that you bought it on ebay though.
Good luck
My vibration on my G2 is so strong when I have it on my hip in a pouch I can hear it vibrate...

+1. and I would really like to know how to shorten the vibrations. with chomp I use a custom vibrate pattern that is 3 short pulses and it's a lot more bearable and discreet than the super loud normal pattern. only downside is it only works for sms and I want to know how to change it so every notification no matter what will be that 3 short pulses...

There is a free app in the Market called Missed Call, which lets you edit vibration patterns for any type of alert, including calls and SMS. It works quite well for what you are requesting.

So I managed to register the phone on the website. Do I just call HTC and explain the situation and pretend like I bought the phone from them (their website)?
Also, should I contact HTC or T-Mobile since it is a T-Mobile G2? I am currently using T-Mobile if that makes a difference. I don't know where the owner purchased the phone from...

Even though you didn't purchase the device from TMo they will still honor the manufacturer warranty. It follows the phone not the owner, call TMo and explain that it doesn't vibrate that hard and such and they should go about testing to see if there is water damage, etc and then send you a replacement

On HTCs site, when I registered my phone, their limited warranty explicitly stated that the warranty was only good for the original buyer. I have heard more times than not about them honoring the warranty for 2nd owners, but still, the actual wording is clear. They COULD deny it if they wanted to require proof of purchase and one could not garner such receipt.

That's why you need to call T-Mobile first...they always honor the manufacturer warranty, I did this with the MyTouch Slide when I bought it second hand and then took a dive and had to get it replaced
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will call T-Mobile first and then HTC (if something goes wrong). I'll let you know the results. Here's to hoping for the best.

So I called T-Mobile and they are willing to send me a replacement while they take a look at my phone. Before I send my phone off to them, I plan on doing a factory reset. Should I also unroot my phone, or does it not really matter?

Yes unroot via the provided directions somewhere around here...
Is there now a solution? My vibrating motor clanks as an very very old one.
I bought my Desire Z on ebay - so I have no warranty any more.
Is there a replacement and even a manual how to change?
Is this a common problem or I'm just bad luck.
BTW my wife has my old Desire and it is silent while it vibrate. So I think the Desire Z motor is running down...

Hey xda,
Just wanted to share my experience on a warranty repair with unlocked bootloader. Incase any of you are about to go through this.
I've had to recently send in my phone on a warranty repair for a dead pixel and also getting static interference on my phone speaker when the ringtone is sounding on a incoming call.
Upon calling them they offered a exchange but after I told them I had an unlocked bootloader they said they can only do a repair job on it.
So I ship my phone and 2 days later I get a repair quote for $196.00. I call them to find out specifics and they said I need a new motherboard. My phones been in it's sleeve since I first got it a few weeks ago and absolutely has never been dropped. Which means a failing motherboard came with my phone from the beginning. Now they are telling me that an unlocked bootloader voids my warranty. I have pointed out to them that I know of plenty of people with unlocked bootloaders & clear hardware malfunctions who were able to get a warranty repair or even a warranty exchange!
Now my ticket is being escalated and I will hear back from the higher ups in 48-72 business hours.
Any helpful advice guys?
Thanks,
-L
All you can do is wait... I'd bet that the escalation people will approve the repair under warranty. If not, then everyone needs to be on notice and my prediction has come true.
Code:
I told them I had an unlocked bootloader
Wonder if they would have just sent you a new one if you didnt say that.
By "static interference on my phone speaker", do you mean you hear static when the speaker is ringing? Does the speaker-phone play music without static noise?

I think they would've sent a new one but I had to put a $529 on a credit card to do so (which I would've done). But I was afraid that they would've kept the $529 if they found out that my original phone bootloader was unlocked. So I figured I'd tell them for the sake of good karma...I'm really not trying to hustle HTC here.
Yes every couple of calls when my phone rings, the ringtone would be accompanied by a lot of static. I've tried playing back music and trying to recreate the problem but I couldn't get any static out of it on my own. Just randomly happens on it's own during incoming calls. Didn't matter what ringtone I was using or what radio I was on.

The $529 deposit is so you have an incentive to send back your old phone and not keep both. Once they receive it, the charge is undone.

Yea I know its just a temporary hold but I thought they inspect your old phone upon arrival. Guy on phone told me they can't do anything with unlocked bootloader phones on exchanges which is why it was out of the question. I was just afraid that my old phone would get there and they realized it was unlocked...would've been a more complicated situation then since they are holding my $529.
Where you from? need put $529 for deposit? Being charge $196.00 a bit high, so poor you.
Then service center in Singapore is better, no need any deposit, mine one also root and dead completely and they fix for me FOC.
I'm in Miami, Florida. Had to send it in to HTC in Texas I think.
I will wait and see when they get back to me from the ticket escalation. Hopefully there's a kind soul there!
May god bless you, wish you all the best
Get it replace FOC
Mother board replacement to fix dead pixel
HTC charged me £128.00 to repair signal fault on my N1. They told me that it needs a new mother board as i've unlock the bootloader.
I think they riping peoples of who ever unlocked there bootloader and send for warranty.
I don't understand you, a new motherboard for the issue with the faulty signal?, or the motherboard is to lock the bootloader?
Not to be mean... but you did unlock the bootloader and void the warranty. It's clearly stated everywhere that this is the case.
I don't see what the problem is.
Seems HTC will 'change' the motherboard for anything.
When I thought I would be stuck on ERE36B for ever, I anonymously asked them if there was a way to get it regressed to official firmware. As you may have guessed, they told me they would have to replace the motherboard at a cost of £105
When I sent them my phone for a cosmetic issue, it came back with ERE27 and the same IMEI, so my original motherboard.
Sounds like they're just trying to scam people to be honest.
I've read elsewhere that HTC doesn't repair motherboards. Their fix for everything seems to be just to replace the motherboard.

I agree but I really thought the build quality on a $500 dollar phone was going to outlast 3 weeks before I had to send it in. You have to see both sides of the story here. Sure it protects HTC but what if on the other hand there's a lot of faulty hardware out there and it actually starts working in their favor. As we're all noticing here now their "repair" process seems to just be an automatic new motherboard. Sounds like a rip off.
So after the escalation they still don't want to cover it with warranty. The rep on the phone says that replacing the motherboard could reinstate the factory warranty. Basically it looks like they are trying to do all these MB replacements on rooted phones so that you have a locked bootloader again & warranty...at the cost of $196.
I asked if i can get a quote for just a repair on the dead pixel and was put on hold for 10 minutes. Finally the agent gets back on the phone to tell me he needs to escalate the ticket in order to get a price quote for just the screen. So now I won't hear back from them until Monday (the earliest) in order to find out how much it is to fix a dead pixel issue.
This is the second time my ticket has been escalated and going onto a week without my phone. It seems like the escalating thing is a nicer way of them saying "don't call us back for a few days."
Getting very frustrated at this point.
I have to say, that it doesn't seem right to charge for hardware repairs because of a rooted phone. I'm going to go read their warranty policies and also look to see if I can find an official message on the web from Google saying that only the software warranty is void. If they make no distinction, then its not even a plan B option for me.
Currently I want the Desire. If it doesn't become available with in the next month or so, I was going to get a Nexus One for the Verizon network.
I feel for you on this one. Activating a change in software really should not affect their hardware obligations to you. I can see them charging you if you sent your phone in and software caused an issue with your device some how but thats not likely the case here.

Thanks, I was trying to look over it myself as well. I don't see much clarification between hardware and software warranty.
I tried calling HTC to file a complaint (mostly over the repair process) but they have no complaint system set up.
I would love to be able to write someone higher up at HTC or even Google explaining my situation. I can't find any contact email on the internet. I know sometimes these things can be resolved just by getting in touch with corporate offices or headquarters directly.
Anyone have any useful (public) emails for either HTC or Google?

Ah crap. I've missed the 14 day insurance period by a couple of a days. I had no idea they offered it.
i know it's not related to the above issues but...
got dinged for 55 bucks for dust under the screen since i had an unlocked bootloader.
also pissed because the guy on the phone told me the bootloader would also be relocked as per my request. going to give them a call about that monday...
If I buy a MT4G on ebay and I don't get the "good" screen, can I warranty it?
How would you go about buying a MT4G for a good price and getting the better screen?
I bought mine on ebay and still got it replaced by Tmobile for free. You buy the phone, wait a few days for your IMEI number to go into their system, then contact customer service (I did it through online chat), don't mention anything about where you bought it just say that you have a MyTouch 4G and the screen looks washed out etc., and they should send you a replacement.
i have a mytouch 4g and had it replaced only because i bought it brand spanking new. if the mt4g has ever been activated on another persons account they will not warranty it, they will say the warranty is not valid. the reason i know this is because my husband had a vibrant that we bought off craigslist and because the phone had already been activated on the girls account they would not honor the warranty because they can tell that you were not the first to use the phone. i hope this helps
I've bought multiple phones off Craigslist and had them all replaced through warranty. Some of them more then once. As long as its still under the one year warranty you should be able to get it replaced. Can't speak for other people though. I was never denied or even given a hard time about an exchange.

I have a bad screen. Who cares?! Unless u stare at your phone from an extreme angle... I never did understand the problem. I can understand knowing there is a better screen and expecting it for the money though.
Plus mine can overclock on any kernal at any setting out so far with zero freezes. Does your "good" screen do that?

I was telling myself the same thing until I went back to the tmobile store, found one with a good display, and compared them side by side. I'd seen the pictures and videos, but in person, it really was a night and day difference.
Since looking into our screens is ultimately a lot of what we all do on a smart phone, this is something I definitely would not compromise on.

Hello everyone,
I need some advice or suggestions on what to do. The Mytouch 4g, as you all may know, has a lot of problems. I've done many exchanges now, and some of them were done back to back. The first few times, TMO was able to ship express for free, but now they are charging me $9.99 for regular ground shipping even though the phones that I receive are defective. I am very frustrated at this point and have been thinking about canceling all 4 of my lines with them and eating the $800 ETF. What do you guys think I should do?
You may be wondering why I have to exchange it so many times..
Unlike the fellow perfectionists that you guys are, I never exchanged a phone that had a bad screen or squeaking buttons. The first time I exchanged it was because it had two dead pixels, then the power button would no longer work, then there was a ton of dust under the screen to the point where I had trouble seeing the top left corner where my status/notification bar is, then I had wifi and reception problems, then I've had the phone either shut off or reboot on its own.
I've been running into many, many problems - and they are not always the same problem either. After the third phone, all they have been doing is sending out refurbished units that are 'pre-damaged' by the previous user. On top of that, I have to pay for shipping on each phone, plus the Zagg's invisible shield (it's about $23 with labor on installation) that I had on several of the replacement phones. After troubleshooting for hours on end with tech support, I noticed that my battery cover is loose since they had me reboot/remove battery so many times, I ended up buying the gel skin case from TMO yesterday so that the battery cover wouldn't fall off.
I would be glad to take any advice that you guys have at this point. Thank you.
Edit: By the way, I did not have any apps other than opera mini - didn't even update youtube and things like that.
The statistical likelihood of getting 9 defective devices in a row is astronomical. Truly. If you are being honest and these are all really manufacturing defects then you sir are the unluckiest ****er ever and you are never welcome to babysit my kids. I don't really have any advice except to say that if your next problem is software related, try rooting and see if that fixes it. Otherwise I would avoid crosswalks and commercial flight if at all possible. Damn dude. Unlucky...

They can offer to give you a different phone all together. Like the g2 or galaxy 4g. Just ask

Do this. Call tmobile and tell them the issue with your device. Have them do another warranty exchage, but, instead of getting it shipped, tell them that you really do not want to wait once more to receive another device shipped and that if you can go into a tmo store and pick up a warranty replacement. They shouldn't have a problem telling you yes. Have them call the store so they can tell them you will be going in to get a warranty replacement. This way for sure you wont get a refurbished device. You will be getting a brand new one out of the box. This is the way I did my warranty exchage. They even gave me an extra battery for free.

TJ you crack me up. I actually went through this guys episode with a mytouch slide, 5 phones under warranty, but they never charged me a dime for shipping. The one and only issue i had with the Mytouch slide was dust under the screen. I can't remember if it was the 3rd or the 4th replacement i got in the mail, but that one came with dust in all four corners. Didn't even insert a SIM card in that phone just took it down to my local Tmobile store and the manager exchanged it for me. After the 5th replacement with dust i decided to sell it and replace it with a MT4G. Well it was all good for a week until my power button failed to work, 1st exchange. They made me pay the 9.99 shipping for that one. Receive the new phone and i notice the display sucks compared to my wife's MT4G. Instead of calling in to tmobile i drive down to the local Tmobile store and i show the manager my predicament ( mind you this is the same guy that was exchanging my Mytouch Slide). Nice guy orders me another MT4G, waived the shipping. 3rd phone arrives a few days later, display is washed out, but i decide to live with it. Figuring that if i exchange it again I'll get another one with the crappy display. F**K me if the power button doesn't work after two weeks. I go back to the Tmobile store and have another chat with the manager, orders me another MT4G and waives the shipping. Manager tells me, "You're the unluckiest man i've seen with a phone", and i said "yes, yes, I am." Last exchange was the charm, good screen, and the power button actually works. I honestly thought i was the only poor bastard that could be this unlucky with phones. I have to show my wife this post, so she doesn't think i'm the unluckiest man alive. You sir have just made my day. If you can i'd go to a local tmobile store and see what they can do for you. Best of luck.

First of all, nice 'Lude. I just picked up an 07 Civic Si Sedan on Saturday and I ****ing LOVE it!
2nd, are you running stock Sense or rooted? To be perfectly honest I've found the stock Sense to be much more buggy than the cm7 I've been running for the past 3 or 4 months.
My first phone had random reboots and such and a factory reset seemed to solve the issue, but I'm assuming they had you do that multiple times.
Even if the phone is fresh out of the box, do a factory reset before you use it. It might help, it did for me.
Otherwise check out cm7 or one of the Sense roms around here. Removing all the bloatware actually does wonders for stability. If you really want I can upload a nandroid of my own stock rom with the bloatware removed.
On my 3rd mt4g and I'm about ready to go back to iPhone most androids have to many hardware issues.

Otherwise check out cm7 or one of the Sense roms around here. Removing all the bloatware actually does wonders for stability. If you really want I can upload a nandroid of my own stock rom with the bloatware removed.

First of all, yeah.. my Lude is old news. Since then, I've switched to an S2k, but that got stolen. Now I'm in an 06 Evo.
Anyway, back on topic..
The phone is completely stock. This is the FIRST PHONE I've ever owned that I have kept stock - Why? Because I don't want to have to unroot it when I send it in for warranty repairs.

Unrooting is as simple as flashing pd15img.zip through hboot. Not that hard.
Definitely try a different rom. As I said I've found cm7 to be much more stable than stock.
Sorry about your car. I never fully got over the 95 GS-R I crashed back in 05. since then I've been driving an ls.

i got pretty bad luck with my phone. finally got a good one after like 9 exchanges and a month later the power button went out. i called them and they told me i couldnt exchange anymore cause i "had too many problems with the phone." so the rep told me that the only thing they could do left is to exchange my phone for a motorola charm.....i was like wtf why the heck would i want to downgrade my phone, which polly cost more then that piece of **** charm and it doesnt even run android...major downgrade.
Dude. That blows. Hard. I'm sorry to see that you're having so many problems with your phone and I'm glad I don't have the same luck as you. I got mine from eBay and it came in perfect condition. Never had dust under the screen, good screen, no faulty hardware, etc.
But in all seriousness, after 5 phones, I wouldn't keep it. I personally think that it's a great phone, but if I had to take it back 9 times, I'd try something else out. Ask if you can switch. It shouldn't cost you anything as long as the retail price is equivalent or lower than the MyTouch 4g, and if I'm not mistaken, it's one of the higher priced ones (rightfully, so). If you don't hate a keyboard, the G2 might be good for you, but I hear the hinge has problems and knowing your luck, the hinge would break apart upon first use. So maybe the Galaxy S 4g? I know Samsung has great hardware, even if their software is crap, as is their update schedules, but that is easily fixed with custom ROMs.
Either that, or wait and return it completely, if you're still within your return time and keep your upgrade for when the better phones come out, i.e HTC Sensation, etc, and just use something affordable off of eBay or Craigslist. Meh
Just my two cents. Sorry if it didn't help much, but I hope your luck gets better. :/
Update:
My luck has gotten worse. I received another replacement phone on April 15th. A week later, April 22nd, I noticed a dead pixel on my screen.
*Sigh* I have no idea what to do now.
You need to move on to a different device. I've never heard of anyone have so many problems with a device.

I called in and spoke to technical support. They asked me to bring the phone to a store so that they can fill out a request for warranty exchange form. However, their tone basically implied something like, "It's impossible that you are getting so many broken phones. We need to verify that your phone is really defective before we do another exchange."
I brought it to a store and the retail sales manager had no idea why technical support sent me there, and basically told me to go call customer service again. He did, however, notate that there were a few dead pixels on the screen and that there was no physical, nor was there water damage.
I then called retentions and the supervisor picks up (without any transferring either). I explained to her exactly what happened, and how technical support had sent me into the store. She told me that she has no idea why because they could have filled out the form for warranty exchange over the phone, just like the other exchanges that I have done so far.
She apologized for what happened and said that I qualify for a multiple exchange (sorry if I got the term wrong!). She said that the manufacturer would exchange my Mytouch 4g for a Motorola Charm..
I explained that it would be a MAJOR downgrade. She then submits the form for the exchange and told me that it would be shipped express free of charge.
So you getting another mt4g or the charm? I'm still teipping about them offering you a charm over a mt4g. They are nuts!

Hey Guys
I just wanted to know,if someone of you got the same experience than me!
Today my Volume +- button popped out and I cant put it back beacause the sluggy glew stuff under it doesn't hold it anymore!
I mean what is that..
So this phone only gots two mechanical buttons and I lose one of 'em ?! Hahahaha thats so poor!
Do you think I can get it to repair or replace the phone?!
I still got warranty and I pay for it every month... so what do you think?
Anyone had this problem too?!
Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english
Contact HTC. They will probably issue a replacement for you.

Same thing happened to me. I'm with Orange UK and they replaced it under guarantee, but it cost me £50! They classed it as "Accidental Damage"
Hi, I had same problem, it came off but luckily I didn't lose it and super-glued it back on which is ok but not perfect, but I see you can get replacements on Ebay for about £11.00 delivered from Hong Kong. And its a different fixing so looks like it would not come off again. Think I will get one myself.
that sounds bad.
suggest using a case to prevent this.
Mine was in a case, it was the constantly taking off the battery cover to replace the battery (due to crap battery life) that made it come off.
Happened to me, DO NOT contact your carrier. Get straight onto HTC, it is a hardware defect and you are covered for 2yrs with them. Mine was picked up the day after I phoned them and returned fully functional for free three days later..
Here are some numbers to phone..

You shouldn't have accepted this! That's a bit like a door coming off your car (extreme I know) then your dealer claiming accidental damage.
Try and deal with the manufacturer directly if you can.

Disgusting, write back to them saying you've done some research and there is no way you should have been charged as HTC them selves fix it for free and say you want your money back or will go through trading standards. Either way you will win.
Well I brought it to my O2 store today ( it's where I have bought the phone )
They said they're gonna send it to HTC. They'll prolly repair it. But this guys gave me everything ( battery and all covers back home )
If they're gonna say I gotta pay something to repair this thing, I'm gonna fire up the hell for them.
I mean, that not supposed to be... I have probably opened the battery cover only 3-5 times. Isn't it built to last for longer
Would HTC still fix this if you are rooted and have a custom ROM?
Better to take it back as u got it tbh! What i always do so dont get asked crap n saves any hassle!

I unrooted it and made S-ON... to avoid any stupid questions
Even tho they shouldnt make problems, cos how can a custom rom brake a button
My volume up button is now broken, but have no time to go for replacement yet. The app Quick Settings is really useful for me now. It replaces the long press on search button to a customizable control panel.
This will do a job.
iMHO, volume buttons are the worst about this phone. Second worst thing is the battery cover.

Yeah.
Well I actually need my phone daily as navigation system and stuff. I really miss it right now got such a crappy Nokia 61...sumthing.
Well... you are right. the volume button feels so cheap and the backcovers are the worst I have seen on a phone yet. they dont even look nice.
The Sensation looks way better.
My volume + but is actually quite stiff and you have to press it that bit harder to get it to work.
Shall I leave it for now I'm not too bothered if it does break then I can get it replaced?

I accidently bent/snapped mine as I thought I was pulling out the battery compartment. It was dark and I was tired
Followed advice on here and rung HTC and my network 3 who both said I'd have to pay for repair.
Looking at getting the part on eBay however the delivery is estimated between 12 and 35 days! The price is a joke as well, £12...but it's more the delivery times from Hong Kong that I don't want.
Does anyone know any alternative ways to source a volume button please? Any quicker ways? Thanks
Unfortunately those seem to be the only ways unless you can find a local dealer of them. Try a phone repair shop.
I have read something about guarantee and software mods. When it's a hardware problem, that can't be caused by the software it isn't necessary to unroot and so on. So when they say, they won't repair it because you lost your guarante, you can assort on your right.
But I recommend to unroot and so on to avoid any problems with HTC.
Same to me guys, was very hangover and tried to replace battery but i removed the volume "-" instead ehhe
i'm on chat with htc right now.
They say that will send somebody to pick up the phone , analyze the problem and they will see if everything is under guarantee or they will estimate the cost ... something that i can or can't accept, anyway they will send back me the phone in likely 2 weeks with a cost of 20€ for the expedition .
As a few of you know I broke my phone a couple of weeks back. And I'm at the point now where I have decided that I need a thread to ***** and moan about my insurance company.
They received my phone on the 21st of June and took my excess and told me the turn around time was 10 days. So day 10 I call up to find out what is going on.
Because the insurers haven't got heard from the repair centre they will automatically send me a replacement. Call today and they don't have a replacement available so will spend the next 5 days looking for one. If they can't find one they will look at a different handset.
This has me worried, I do not under any circumstances want a phone without a hardware keyboard, obviously it needs to be android and must be rootable and have good dev support. I would be interested if anyone can recommend a handset apart from the G2/DZ that fulfills these requirements.
Also using there timeframe the worst case scenario is that the total time I could be without my phone is a month. Which I consider unacceptable given that I pay £10p/m for what is supposed to be one of the best products available in the UK. And I say that because I have to sell this product as a part of my job.
It's a joke.
Feel free to sympathise with me or ***** and moan about your experiences with insurance company's.

Have every intention of it, I'm in the process of drafting a letter of complaint
Feel your pain...
When my previous phone (HTC Kaiser) went bad and had to be sent in for warranty repair, I was resigned to going back to my stupid dumb-phone for three weeks and I almost went crazy.
If something were to happen to my Desire Z, I'd be seriously tempted to buy a new one with over-night shipping (no decent phone stores around here), then send the other in for service. I'd just keep the old repaired one for a spare, or sell it.
soory to hear that cj.
Hopefully your insurance company gets their crap together and gets you a replacement asap. Have you ever thought of calling them with a direct threat thatyou will file a complaint to whatever governing department about their incompetency?I can't see how hard it can be to get a replacement for you. FFS they could've easily bought you a new one and send it toyou rather than wasting time trying to find a refurbished unit.
I heard someone once say that insurance is like making a bet that something bad might happen, but seems like you didn't even get a payout when something did happen! £10pm? Sounds like a ripoff.
In your letter of complaint, you can drop in that if they continue not to honour their contract with you, you will take this up with the Financial Ombudsman Service. More info about them here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/fight-back-fos
The Financial Ombudsman Service website itself also has advice on how to handle complaining before you refer to them:

Good luck!

Cheers for the links. I have decided to give them until Tuesday before I start going down the the root of making a complaint. If they are unable to offer me suitable replacement handset on Tuesday, I then intend to make a complaint.
I do have another card up my sleeve and its not one that I wanted to play but I may consider it. I work for the UK's second largest mobile phone retailer* and as such the insurance product I have is also the one that I have to sell on a day to day basis. We have it drummed in to our heads that this is one of the best products in country in terms of value for money and the level of cover that it offers. So how am I supposed to sell this supposedly fantastic product when my experience with it has be about the terrible. I am an honest person and do tell things as they are and in all good faith I could not recommended this insurance product given my poor experience with it.
So I'm wondering if I don't get the desired outcome on Tuesday should I tell them this and would it actually help? My guess is no but it is another thing for me to consider
*I wont mention the name but its the company where I work, but we are perceived as wide boys and con men and we have really bad TV advertising. Anyone in the UK should know who I mean
I have just finished writing my letter of complaint. For some reason though I had been locked out of my online account so was unable retrieve my policy id and my claim number. So I called them up and got a surprise. A new handset is on its way to me, i should have it by the end of the week

Glad they finally moved on this.
Received my replacement handset today. Got it rooted and virtuous unity running. Wife calls me, volume is on loud but no sound comes out the speaker. Try some music and nothing.
Also the information label under the battery was almost falling off, the void sticker was missing and all of the visible screws looked like they had been unscrewed with an axe.
I now have to wait for a courier to collect the broken phone and wait for them to ship me another replacement.

Oh no. Giving you a damaged refurb is totally unprofessional. Words fail me.
Hope you get better luck with the next one, but keep that letter handy...
personally, i think this company needs a kick in the you know where.
I say give them 1 last chance for the 2nd replacement phone. if it's as craptastic as the first one, then send in the letter.
or you can play "super pissed off customer" and demand a brand new one for their incompetence

Not available in the UK.
I'm really pissed off. I wish I had checked that it was all working before I rooted. There is an hour I will never get back.
But I'm definitely writing to them now. The chances of me getting a phone this week are minimal. And a month without a phone is unacceptable.
And I'm really really bored with without it

I have had a horrible problem with HTC. My new desire z broke after 2 days of me having it. I sent it off to get repaired. When it came back it was scratched and dented so I complained. They agreed to replace the parts to say sorry. But it has been 5 weeks since I sent the phone to them and I still do not have it. This is because they have changed repair centers they said. It isn't good enough so after a lot of moaning they are sending me and incredible s which is good as I am not bothered about a hardware QWERTY. Still not good enough from HTC.
how did you even break the phone in 2 days? It sounds like you abused it somehow.
