almost cried because the only known method to rectify this was to solder a usb jig, which I knew woulda been such a headache so..
I odin'd while on the brick'd screen (NOT DOWNLOAD MODE) the lil blue status bar showed up under the brick'd screen and here I am, running bionix and everything is back to normal. Who woulda thunk that it would actually work. Tell ur friends.

I just bricked mine last night, had to sbf. I finally got it to boot up, and guess what... I had about 10 mins before it was fully bricked, 5% battery left. Got it all back to normal.

You can still connect to Odin when you see that screen it just doesn't show the usual download mode logo.

I did the same thing, I couldn't get into download mode for the life of me and I noticed that odin recognized my phone so I clicked start and bam up and running!

Because..... "Phone ! PC" is not a hard brick. I've "Phone ! PC" bricked my Vibrant dozens of times.
Glad you've recovered though. It can be a scary screen if you're not used to seeing it!

doesnt the term 'bricked' mean the only use for your phone is a paper weight, with no way to get it back?

The Semantics of "Bricked"

That is an excellent point of semantics. "Bricked" is not well-defined. Thus the evolution of the "hard bricked" and "soft bricked" terms as attempts to further lock down the meaning. In reality, there are many states of "bricked."
To get very technical about it, "bricked" meaning "your phone is a paper weight, with no way to get it back" is a state that probably cannot exist other than in the context of the phone having a hardware component failure.
Why? The term "bricked" refers to differing levels of difficulty in getting one of three boot loaders to execute. In the worst case (beyond the average user's ability to resolve), the primary boot loader (PBL) will not execute because it has been deleted and no longer exists. That is bad news because the PBL includes the USB drivers. No USB drivers means no Odin, becuase Odin communicates with the phone via USB.
However, Vibrant includes another communications bus ("JTAG"), normally used only for manufacturing testing. Using a specialized JTAG tester, the PBL can be re-loaded onto the Vibrant and operation restored. Thus my statement that "bricked beyond recovery" may be impossible if we define "bricked" as a software problem and not a hardware problem.
On the other hand, the end result may be the same. Finding a skilled tech with a JTAG tester and the appropriate "bed of nails" to connect it to your Vibrant and do the recovery is likely to cost more than a new Vibrant.

I have only hard bricked a phone once in my life, I was in Atlanta building a hospital and i dropped my phone into fast setting concrete before i knew it, I saw my phone in dry concrete REALLY BRICKED IT....... or cemented it........ Now That's bricking a phone, what you did was just a bump in the road
BTW this posting was really finny........... dumb, but funny

Wouldn't the "Phone ! PC" translate as another picture for download mode?
I'm not trying to be rude at all. When I got that screen I just thought, "Hey lets plug it into my PC, just like it shows" Odin recognized it without a hitch.

Have u seen a thread that told u the
Phone ! Pc
Screen can also be odin'd? I have not. Hence, why this thread was made.

How to Brick my phone?

I flashed every ROM possible and every kernel possible but i never brick my phone. Is it possible to Brick the samsung vibrant? If o please tell me....
Really? The forum does include a search feature and I'm sure that with minimal effort and a short amount of time you could easily find the answer to this question. However, since I've taken the time to read and already taken the time to post some sort of reply, I figure I might as well throw in an answer. Try flashing a 2.2 Rom, then flashing back to 2.1 without replacing the kernel. You may recall when 2.2 Roms first starting flying out that there were several issues. Eugene I believe was one of, if not the first, to fix the issue. I do have to ask, why would you want to brick your phone? Perhaps something went wrong and you would like it bricked to take back to TMobile? I've seen others try, and it usually doesn't turn out as intended. Either way, best of luck in your endeavors

you really wanna brick your phone? go find the original 2.2 I9000 firmware, flash it on your phone and then try to flash back.... LOL. Dont know why you want to do this, but to each his own. If you're just trying to get an exchange then kill the battery and say it wont turn on... haha

So, in essence what you're wanting to do is break the phone and have appear as if it's Samsung or T-Mobile's fault so you can get out of your obligation and get another phone?
What are you a three year old?
There are two ways I can think of that would perma-brick the phone. Try using search though, as I generally avoid helping people to become stupider than they already are....
throw your phone into the toilet bowl and you'll brick it, you can brick any electronics with this method and if its not enough you can brick your tv by throwing it into your bathtub full of water.
I try every thing you guys posted and my phone still works after i ODIN. I geuss the vibrant in un brick able.

There are virtually no legitimate reasons to want to brick a phone.

I do, but the app wasn't installed, so it doesn't work :'(
And I tried to install plan b, I read lifehackers post on it awhile ago, but these people were expert thieves, they changed the service to another phone, and tried to make a purchase with it almost immediatly. Luckily, the charge was canceled and I ended service for the phone, then they sent me the new phone I'm currently using.
I would have loved it to work, but alas, sad. My only concern now is if there is a way to deauthorize that phone from my google account. Other than that, as soon as I get around to rooting this thing, I'll be fine.

I broke my screen digitizer a few weeks ago. Luckily I was able to buy one off ebay and replace it myself. The only thing that I did wrong was I didn't really reglue it down to the frame, so dust and dirt has been getting underneath the screen (which you can see behind bright backgrounds). BTW, if anyone breaks theirs, here's a great video on how to take apart the whole phone.

I just struck gold.
So, I recently bought an as is transformer on ebay for about $150. I really wanted the parts from it to repair a TF. When I got it, the first thing I noticed was there was not a scratch on there. The thing looks like new. The serial was a b50. After I charged it, I decided to turn it on and saw that it went right into apx mode.
So, I nvflashed it. OMG, it works! It's working flawlessly. I even restarted it several times to make sure it wasn't in apx bootloop.
Apparently, someone bricked it, thought it was dead, and sold it for parts.
Just thought I'd share
lol congrats bro, thats always good
Nice find.

Damn you made out like a bandit.
So what are you going to do now? Salvage it for parts anyway, use it? Sell it? I'd sell it and get another tablet so I'd have two different tablets. I'd even put that money towards an iPad 2 or an iPad 3 just because I want to try an iPad.

I know. This was just an extreme luck thing. We all here knows that apx mode looks like the thing is bricked. A tablet can go into apx mode automatically if there's something wrong with the bootup. Most people out there don't know what apx is. So, I'm assuming someone thought he couldn't turn this thing on and so went ahead and sold it to some shop which ended up putting this tab on ebay.
Great find!!!
So...... Ill start the bidding for it at $200.

Probably some one who's jealous or could be the the Ebay seller.
Thats fantastic luck! congrats to you!
My device has appeared to be bricked a few times, doesn't boot up, connect to PC and its not going into apx mode but tablet is still warm so something is running. had to wait for the battery to completely deplete before it would turn back on with screen working. Only happened with one certain custom ROM though.
Good thing I had patience to wait it out or I could have been that sucker to sell it on e-bay! Congrats.
That's awesome! I used to scour craigslist and ebay for "bricked" devices and 9/10 times they're repairable.
Maybe it was the seller that rated the thread 1 star? haha
it just amazes me that with ALL the info available on the tf1 that they couldn't figure that out. serves em right if ya ask me! congrats my man!
You are a lucky man! Did the person post a picture of the device? It would probably be safe to assume, that if a seller posts pictures of a pretty good looking tablet and selling it for parts, it's more than likely bricked. However, the chance of getting that lucky is probably slim

Well for all the flashing kernels, roms, nands etc. I finally have to unroot for the first time to get my USB port fixed. Its been a year since I unrevoked, so I downloaded the s on tool which says it doesn't like my baseband 2.15.00.0808, so I've been trying to flash a lower one without any luck. Why do you have to turn back to S-ON for them to fix the USB port? My local stores all have an issue with working on rooted phones or S-OFF. Just make sure you are on a stock ROM for them (saves a hassle apparently).
I don't if my local store will have a problem with it or not. It's hit or miss and just depends on the employee really. I've heard people taking in fully rooted and running custom roms and getting whatever service they need. And some people getting turned away fully stock with s on just for having root related items on their SD card. I figure why even take the chance, it only takes a couple minutes to back up sd,put s back on, return to a unrooted Rom and wipe SD.

True that, better to avoid chances if you don't know the store around you very well. All I can say is be prepare because some stores can be total dicks when it comes to ports. They tend to try and blame it as physical damage.
Yeah I've heard that, but I don't see how if my year old Evo is in mint condition with my otterbox which has been on it since minute one which is also in mint condition. But I do realize again it does depends on the employee. I guess ill try to get the same person I talked to today to see if they would do it. She sounded super nice, she said " yeah no prob, just drop it off for about an hour and we'll get that fixed right up for you". She did make sure to ask me if it was just loose or separate from the board though. So that may be the difference there.

Yes that will be the difference. The phone will be disassembled, not much to it, and the port inspected. If it is still attached (or detached but solder points in tact), you get a phone ordered via Advanced Exchange. If it is detached and deemed physical, you get to file a claim.

Calling the store & asking could save you some time & frustration. My camera was completely fubar & needed to be replaced but I was worried they wouldn't touch it do to it being rooted. I called my local store ahead of time, explained what my problem was, & asked if they serviced rooted phones. They put me on hold, asked the tech, & told me as long as the problem wasn't software related then it was no problem. Took the phone in, had camera replaced and back in my hand in less than an hour with everything intact. Saved me a lot of time since I didn't have to unroot & put back to stock before I took it in.
Well apparently neither of two repair centers near me will repair a loose charging port, only replace with a refurbished evo. So off to HTC it goes for repair.

Anyway the phone doesnt start up with battery but without battery it shows something like it is missing the battery... At least the hardware that senses the battery is fine

Can you get to the LG screen? Or the factory reset screen? Try plugging it in while holding volume down. Well, to a computer

Okay to begin with, is the guy a stranger or something? Close friend? Or does he work at some shop? Because if so report him. Who the hell does that. Secondly, can you post a picture?

You can try getting a MB from the Stylo 2 plus since this brick isn't fixable that I know of. They're the same phone, though you might be locked to Metro or something so look for an unlocked one
