Well for all the flashing kernels, roms, nands etc. I finally have to unroot for the first time to get my USB port fixed. Its been a year since I unrevoked, so I downloaded the s on tool which says it doesn't like my baseband 2.15.00.0808, so I've been trying to flash a lower one without any luck. So if someone could kindly tell me what I'm missing I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks, on my way.
Edit: all stock and ready to rock! Hopefully they don't update me from my 2.2, I wonder if ill sound suspicious if I let them know I don't want update. unrevoked was so easy both ways.

Why do you have to turn back to S-ON for them to fix the USB port? My local stores all have an issue with working on rooted phones or S-OFF. Just make sure you are on a stock ROM for them (saves a hassle apparently).
I don't if my local store will have a problem with it or not. It's hit or miss and just depends on the employee really. I've heard people taking in fully rooted and running custom roms and getting whatever service they need. And some people getting turned away fully stock with s on just for having root related items on their SD card. I figure why even take the chance, it only takes a couple minutes to back up sd,put s back on, return to a unrooted Rom and wipe SD.

True that, better to avoid chances if you don't know the store around you very well. All I can say is be prepare because some stores can be total dicks when it comes to ports. They tend to try and blame it as physical damage.
Yeah I've heard that, but I don't see how if my year old Evo is in mint condition with my otterbox which has been on it since minute one which is also in mint condition. But I do realize again it does depends on the employee. I guess ill try to get the same person I talked to today to see if they would do it. She sounded super nice, she said " yeah no prob, just drop it off for about an hour and we'll get that fixed right up for you". She did make sure to ask me if it was just loose or separate from the board though. So that may be the difference there.

Yes that will be the difference. The phone will be disassembled, not much to it, and the port inspected. If it is still attached (or detached but solder points in tact), you get a phone ordered via Advanced Exchange. If it is detached and deemed physical, you get to file a claim.

Yeah, it's too bad it's so hit or miss,...a lot of hassle. FWIW, I took my Evo in yesterday to have speaker replaced, and had 4.0.3 ICS on my phone and rom toolbox app right on homescreen and had no problem. Except they put it in wrong lol. I gotta push on the speaker for it to work half the time.
Going back tomorrow, I guess smh

Calling the store & asking could save you some time & frustration. My camera was completely fubar & needed to be replaced but I was worried they wouldn't touch it do to it being rooted. I called my local store ahead of time, explained what my problem was, & asked if they serviced rooted phones. They put me on hold, asked the tech, & told me as long as the problem wasn't software related then it was no problem. Took the phone in, had camera replaced and back in my hand in less than an hour with everything intact. Saved me a lot of time since I didn't have to unroot & put back to stock before I took it in.
Well apparently neither of two repair centers near me will repair a loose charging port, only replace with a refurbished evo. So off to HTC it goes for repair.

That's from the people who are on Epic #4 or higher. Thank you come again.
Seriously I guess it must be the invisible shield I put on my screen that protects my phone from me constant dropping it on the ground
or maybe I was just lucky and got a perfect unit
Did they give you a refurbished after your first one?
Same my phone looks NEW shine it 3x a day but just out of curiosity if i have the 7$ protection plan from sprint how can i get a new phone without having to pay the 100$ deductible?
No they always get you a refurbished one unless you are on your first 30 days of purchase with the phone
LOL...figures they're so stupid -_-

Yes, but its also possible for you to be within 30 days and some stores give you a refurbished and treat is as new...it happened before..
And yes after 30 days you get refurbished usually BUT there are those lucky who get a brand new one.

last I heard sprint doesnt have any refurb Epics yet and they are still giving out NEW Epics. Also if you go into a sprint repair store they do not charge you anything to replace it as long as you have insurance..

That is absolutely not true. I am on Sero Premium, which requires apparently some special activation process that my sprint store didn't know about. 3 TEP replacements in a week all with "non functional radios" (ie they didn't activate it correctly), all refurbs. Finally they figured it out and just replaced the screen on my original epic with parts cannibalized from one of my 3 TEP replacements.
My first replacement was new dunno Whuts gonna happen this time I. Don't want a broke down ****box LOL I honestly want to trade it for an evo

Other than possibly frying the nand memory with a bad odin flash, or running it over what do you guys do to your phones? I work in a computer shop/recycling center and I carry my phone in my pocket. I run into stuff, hit it with 37in crts, drop it in open computer cases out of my shirt pocket and the drop to the concete only nicked the corner otherwise its perfect.

For once, I have to agree with Evo "usual suspects" on this one
But thread is now closed.
So I got this machine and thought it was the bee's testes, turns out it isnt
I cant rely on it to re-boot without loosing the contents of the internal memory. last night for seemingly no reason it shut it self down and when I discoverd this I re-booted it, and it took and age to restart, then when I checked the internal memory pfffft gone, everything, all gone.
What a crock of cack, this happens every 3rd or 4th time it reboots, looses the entire lot.
Phone is stock, un-rooted, has had a factory reset and reformat of the internal AND external memory.
Frankly this is the last time I buy a Motorola phone, going back to my trusty Hero for the remained of this contract (22 months) that thing has had salt water baths, drops bangs, knocks, rooting and tooting and still wont die, Atrix, cant even take a reboot with out dieing.

Seriously dude change your phone .. never heard any thing like this in the forums. Maybe faulty hardware. Myself using AT&T version of ATRIX.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Yeah I thought of that, Orange are being difficult though (now why arent I surprised?)
I am wondering if using gingerbreak all those months ago had anything to do with it, but since then I've had the OTA update from orange (the pre-pre update they pushed months ago) that wiped out the root / gingerbreak.
The worse of it is that I never know when it'll happen, seems to be random, not every reboot causes the internal wipe, so damn frustrating, think I may have a look at CM7 as it left Beta last night I wasnt going to hack about with this phone but seems I am being pushed that way
Oh well if anyone has any ideas it'd be appreciated
It's probably just the phone itself. I've never had or heard of any Atrix owner having those problems before. It is technology so there's going to be faulty devices somewhere along the line, unfortunately.
In an unexpected turn of events, a second call to CS Dept, has decided that indeed the phone is Terminally Ill so new HS coming tomorrow, so factory reset tonight to clear everything off
But it is an odd one, random reboots and internal memory wipes...
Ach well

Glad to hear you went the proper route of having it warrantied other than trying to polish a turd. If I run into trouble CS reps I always wait a day and call back. A new person on the other end usually helps the situation a lot.
I had run into a similar issue here at my work with a device. You can troubleshoot it all you want but on mobiles it either works or doesnt.
At the end of the day, save yourself some headache and call it in for RMA.
This happens to me sometimes. Not hardware fault. Motorola can't make a phone.

I do, but the app wasn't installed, so it doesn't work :'(
And I tried to install plan b, I read lifehackers post on it awhile ago, but these people were expert thieves, they changed the service to another phone, and tried to make a purchase with it almost immediatly. Luckily, the charge was canceled and I ended service for the phone, then they sent me the new phone I'm currently using.
I would have loved it to work, but alas, sad. My only concern now is if there is a way to deauthorize that phone from my google account. Other than that, as soon as I get around to rooting this thing, I'll be fine.

I broke my screen digitizer a few weeks ago. Luckily I was able to buy one off ebay and replace it myself. The only thing that I did wrong was I didn't really reglue it down to the frame, so dust and dirt has been getting underneath the screen (which you can see behind bright backgrounds). BTW, if anyone breaks theirs, here's a great video on how to take apart the whole phone.

LOLOLOL Well played. Thanks man.
Yeah I scraped my hand and my knee other than that I'm okay thanks to my shifty. <3
lol.. remember this thread? HTC got a kick out of it.
My phone has developed a thin pink line running down the screen.
I have been on holiday on an island with no phone reception for a week so I didn't take the phone, so it's been at home without being touched.
Then I get back today, play around with it for only a few hours then this happens! It seemed to come on after a reboot.
At first I thought it was because I was playing with build.prop, but after restoring a backup it was still there. It's also there on the splash screen and in recovery, AND it's in the same position when I rotate my phone, so I'm pretty sure this is a hardware issue.
The point of the island story is because I was wondering if a rapid change in temperature could have something to do with it? The phone has been very cold for the week of no usage, but has been getting hot today obviously after charging and playing with it
Does anyone know what could have caused it?
And is there any way to fix it? Or should I just start looking at prices for the galaxy nexus...

nevermind, wrong section
Yup. This will have to go to HTC repairs.
I see you're rooted and have BlackIce ROM installed. I'd suggest flashing Stock RUU before sending it to them. (Warranty issues)
Cause of the problem : Maybe the temperature difference, although such problems are very hard to pinpoint. Even a minor speck or particle on the circuit board can wreck havoc at times.. I've had a PC monitor gone bad due to an ant crawling inside the system. :\

thanks for that, i already have my exit strategy planned with all of the un-OFF'ing and RUU flashing i'll have to do. I'll wait to hear from HTC before i do that, i hate Sense!
if anyone else comes across this because they have a dead or stuck pixel i found this app in the market. it didn't work for me, but maybe someone else will find it useful
Just eBay a new digitizer/LCD for DHD comes as one unit for about 40 quid ! You tube has a video on how to strip down the DHD,not a lot too it. It saved me a small fortune, some phone shop was trying to charge me 120 pounds !!!!

mate awesome idea, but i've had a look at a youtube video and it looks pretty full on. i'll have a think about it.
a phone repair place i called quoted me over $100 as well, but maybe it's worth it in case i completely screw something up!
Why even bother with repairing it yourself.
1. Why give yourself the hassle?
2. Why go to that expense?
All HTC phones have a 2 yr warranty get a stock rom on it, get it s on'd and get it sent back.
I've sent a few phones back to HTC and one of them was a HD2 with the same issue and the turn around and service was top notch

I'm afraid that my phone only had a 1 year warranty, and this happened in the 13th month of it's life I had a long discussion with HTC about their responsibility to make sure their hardware survives for a reasonable length of time, and could they extend the warranty, but they weren't interested. So I took it to a 3rd party repair place and they fixed it up for me for $110. It's worth it in the end, the phone will sell for more than that when I upgrade to my next phone.
Thanks for all of the replies everyone!

Hi. Did it turn out to be a hardware issue or did it just need a new screen. I have the same problem on my i9505 and am intending on buying a new screen.
Thanks.
