I flashed every ROM possible and every kernel possible but i never brick my phone. Is it possible to Brick the samsung vibrant? If o please tell me....
Really? The forum does include a search feature and I'm sure that with minimal effort and a short amount of time you could easily find the answer to this question. However, since I've taken the time to read and already taken the time to post some sort of reply, I figure I might as well throw in an answer. Try flashing a 2.2 Rom, then flashing back to 2.1 without replacing the kernel. You may recall when 2.2 Roms first starting flying out that there were several issues. Eugene I believe was one of, if not the first, to fix the issue. I do have to ask, why would you want to brick your phone? Perhaps something went wrong and you would like it bricked to take back to TMobile? I've seen others try, and it usually doesn't turn out as intended. Either way, best of luck in your endeavors

Doing What you say only give soft brick, beside if i want to return my phone to T-mobile i'll just lie about some other issues like the phone can't take charge.
you really wanna brick your phone? go find the original 2.2 I9000 firmware, flash it on your phone and then try to flash back.... LOL. Dont know why you want to do this, but to each his own. If you're just trying to get an exchange then kill the battery and say it wont turn on... haha
This is probably the most unique question I've ever heard on these forums .
I see everyday 50 threads about how to unbrick... but you... foolish child.

So, in essence what you're wanting to do is break the phone and have appear as if it's Samsung or T-Mobile's fault so you can get out of your obligation and get another phone?
What are you a three year old?
There are two ways I can think of that would perma-brick the phone. Try using search though, as I generally avoid helping people to become stupider than they already are....
throw your phone into the toilet bowl and you'll brick it, you can brick any electronics with this method and if its not enough you can brick your tv by throwing it into your bathtub full of water.
I try every thing you guys posted and my phone still works after i ODIN. I geuss the vibrant in un brick able.

There are water sensitive markers in the phone, if you really want a brick I suggest about 3 seconds of this

Thread closed, as this is just becoming a slanging match...
There are virtually no legitimate reasons to want to brick a phone.

Funny how people complain about phones, but there's people that complain about those people.
And complaining about people having problems is better than discussing real phone problems?
I like my G2. Still using it over my N1 even though it has now rebooted on me 3 times since 10/6. Factory reset didn't seem to help.
But I will continue to discuss it with those that have the issue as well, and hope that an OTA update fixes it. I am not too concerned about having to replace it since I bought the handset protection, but I do feel for those that were frantically trying to find a solution before their 14 days we're up.

Perhaps you miss the point that most posters in these type of threads are just looking for answers that someone else may have already found. I am on my fourth G2 and finally have got one that is acceptable. I scanned threads and posted on them sharing what issues I had experienced. I am glad I did not give up easily as you seem to suggest I do, and kept trying until I got one that was right. They do exist how many I do not know but 1 in four is my experience. If it irritates you to read these type of threads than why do you read them? If your unit is acceptable than as they say in Australia "Good on Ya"

That makes sense. You don't like reading about peoples complaints, but you still read them? I've only replaced my g2 once. Hinge issue? Sure my first g2 had it, who cares? Rebooting issue? Thats the only reason why i got a replacement is because of that. My new g2? Hinge is excellent, could careless tho. Reboot? Still occurs. But im over it. But wow man your right tmobile must LOVE you. So because you hate reading about complaints you decide to make a thread about how your just the sh#t huh and you must be tmobiles bessssst customer. Just what the title says - a few days ago, Froyo was put into beta testing for the Epic 4G. The photo is cropped as to not get anyone into trouble. I just thought it might be nice to know that it's getting closer!
Since I'm new (not very many posts - I tend to just search & read), I can't post a full link, so you'll have to copy & paste. Sorry!

Not shocked. I've heard dates from anywhere from about 2 weeks to late december, so its likely testing is going on.
Tough crowd. How is it spam? I have an Epic, it has Froyo on it. I just don't want to get my Sprint contact in trouble. What do you want to know?
I wanna see you put it up for all of us to test instead of rubbing it in our faces, and say you are beta testing Froyo.
If you'll let me know how to, I will. Will a nandroid backup do, or do I need to do something else? Will a nandroid backup put any identifiable information out that might endanger my Sprint contact (ESN, phone number, etc)?
Hm, I spoke too soon. I should have figured that the update would have overridden the ClockworkMod, and I can't reinstall it because I don't have root access.

Idk how well it would work for you, but MyBackupPro is nice, for me at least. You can use it while not rooted, but some features are only available in root, like app market data. Its not free, but its pretty cheap, and you can refund it if you don't like it. Trying to help

doesnt the term 'bricked' mean the only use for your phone is a paper weight, with no way to get it back?
The Semantics of "Bricked"

That is an excellent point of semantics. "Bricked" is not well-defined. Thus the evolution of the "hard bricked" and "soft bricked" terms as attempts to further lock down the meaning. In reality, there are many states of "bricked."
To get very technical about it, "bricked" meaning "your phone is a paper weight, with no way to get it back" is a state that probably cannot exist other than in the context of the phone having a hardware component failure.
Why? The term "bricked" refers to differing levels of difficulty in getting one of three boot loaders to execute. In the worst case (beyond the average user's ability to resolve), the primary boot loader (PBL) will not execute because it has been deleted and no longer exists. That is bad news because the PBL includes the USB drivers. No USB drivers means no Odin, becuase Odin communicates with the phone via USB.
However, Vibrant includes another communications bus ("JTAG"), normally used only for manufacturing testing. Using a specialized JTAG tester, the PBL can be re-loaded onto the Vibrant and operation restored. Thus my statement that "bricked beyond recovery" may be impossible if we define "bricked" as a software problem and not a hardware problem.
On the other hand, the end result may be the same. Finding a skilled tech with a JTAG tester and the appropriate "bed of nails" to connect it to your Vibrant and do the recovery is likely to cost more than a new Vibrant.
I have only hard bricked a phone once in my life, I was in Atlanta building a hospital and i dropped my phone into fast setting concrete before i knew it, I saw my phone in dry concrete REALLY BRICKED IT....... or cemented it........ Wouldn't the "Phone ! PC" translate as another picture for download mode?
I'm not trying to be rude at all. When I got that screen I just thought, "Hey lets plug it into my PC, just like it shows" Odin recognized it without a hitch.

Hello.
My name is "Jack" and I am a flasher.
It started out innocently, and I only flashed with a small group of like-minded individuals. But soon, my desire to flash grew into a compulsive and uncontrollable need to seek "the next big thrill" in my flashing indulgences.
I always wiped before flashing, so I at least had some interest in hygiene. But now I don't even care about that! I seldom wipe before "doing the deed" anymore. I know it's reckless and maybe even dangerous but....damn it's exciting!
Now, it seems, I find myself flashing nearly every day, and I do it in places I never would have dreamed...at work, in my car, at restaurants. I fear that soon I will be caught in the act, but that is part of what is so thrilling. I can imagine a co-worker walking in and exclaiming: "what are you doing!"

thanks to all of the great people who put there time into these roms so people with addictions like me have something to flash I would also like to thank all the people who put time into the CM7 themes and all the extras that I have used over the past several flashes(to many names to name so I give one big thanks)
Try the 5/30 AOSP its just amazing. Never been so snappy.
I just downloaded the 5/30 last night (and flashed it- but I didn't feel like doing the market fix or changing my mtd partitions), then flashed Mild Salsa 2. I then proceeded to nandroid back to Mild Salsa-JM and play around with that and do a logcat, and then nandroided back to my AOSP/CM7 5/16 (which is my daily).
I flash alone. I flash in front of my kids...and sometimes my wife. I miss calls because of flashing. I know I could quit if I wanted to. I feel sorry for you guys that don't have that kind of will power just to stop. In fact, I'm going to leave this same rom on all day.
Oh wait...Mild Salsa 3. I guess I picked the wrong week to quit flashing roms (yes, and "Airplane" reference.
I am a hopeless and helpless flashoholic. Welcome to my nightmare!
*gasp* In front of your wife and kids??? Noooooooo. Welcome to FA!!
all my flashing led me to this .....
I have been Flashing so much that my best friend has a T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant which I will say is a pretty nice Phone .... not so nice coverage in our area where I was getting download speeds with sprint close to 1.5 he barely gets dial up speeds .... but on to my story he decided it was time to flash a ROM and knowing how addicted I was he said here you can bust my phones "Cherry" well me being the flasher that I am said .... "hey how hard can it be" well its not like my Hero (which I am so use to flashing) .... well his Vibrant has a new look and feel
I am sorry My HTC HERO it wont happen again till I get either the Nexus or HTC 3D and even then I will keep you just so I have something to flash .....
Cheater!!! How could you do that to her!!? XD

I concur with EVERYONE in this thread.
YOU (OP) took the chance at modifying YOUR phone. Moto didnt make you do this. If you had left it to a factory state it WOULD STILL BE WORKING. There is a disclamer on every mod that is out. It's YOUR responsibility to accept terms and void a warranty should you so choose.
Obviously mod/hacking hard/software is not for you. If you CANNOT read a simple warning that is all over the Atrix Subforum, you shouldnt be attempting anything as complex as flashing a firmware to a hardware device. I have been mod'n Moto's since the early RAZR days and have NEVER had a brick, but that is neither here nor there. Moto makes good quality phones and locks them down so hardcore cause of jacka$$es like yourself. /end rant.
Protip: Pack your NEW phone up in the box it came in, take it back to your carrier, and request a feature phone. I'm sure mom and dad will be much happier since you arent costing them $ by bricking another device.
Leave the modding for experienced users who can follow directions...

The funny thing with other phones is, even if you are a j4cka$$ like me ( or this noobish kennethpenn, omfgz look at this j4cka$$ n00b, he bricked his device! ) and brick your device you're still possible to unbrick it. Look at Samsung for example. Or other companies who don't give a **** about their SBK and just release it, so you're able to unbrick your phone.
And please, don't be so butthurt because i'm saying something bad about your lovely phone. I understand it hurt your feelings ( ) ... but it is just my opinion.
I'm sure i'm not the only one who think so. I guess all the other bricked people are already using other phones though. So they not reading this thread. Or they are just afraid of the Motorola-Fanboys. ( Attention: This could be a provocation. Don't get mad. Calm down. )
