so, back in the good ol days of windows mobile, someone created an app where you could actually view your picture mail albums right from your phone. This included any pics that are sent and recieved, without having to save them locally on your storage card. Im a person who gets a lot of pics, and would love an app to just pull from the picture mail website. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Im going to post this in the Apps section also
bump..anyone?

Is there a mail client that does IMAP SSL except LonelyCat's ProfiMail? ProfiMail was kind of ok, but kept crashing and it was darn ugly too.
Is there a substitute to PhotoContacts? I want to be able to back up my settings, use my own pictures, see a full screen presentation when someone calls etc. I feel I want to tell the programmer of PhotoContacts a thing or two after losing my settings one time too many..
As a sidenote I'm also looking for a program that can send my GPS position to a server so that my friends and family can locate me when I'm traveling. I know that CoPilot5 does this, but that's way too expensive just for a small thing like this.
To answer my own questions.
WebIS Mail 2.1 seems to work. Taking ages to sync folder structure though.
PocketX Photo Contacts is almost ok. The good thing is that you don't need to back up because the program reads photos named after your contacts from a folder on the card. The bad thing is that you can't just assign pics, but have to make 150x150 pics named after your contacts
hi anyone out there familiar with blackberrys knows that their facebook app is tightly integrated with the device itself and the windows mobile one is.... just a slower way to access the mobile version of the site now the mobile site works fine and if you have the htc album with social networking you pretty much get to upload photos and dont need the app at all but what i love about the facebook for BB app is how it will automatically assign contact pics for people on in your phone book who also have their numbers added to facebook is their anyone who can write an app that can do this?
The app that I use for this is call FoneBook. The only downside is that it has to run on your desktop Outlook and then when you sync your phone to it, it also syncs any contacts on your phone with those it finds matches for on FaceBook.
N.B. Your post is probably in the wrong section of the forum.
an app like that would be great if it could run on my phone it as i dont use outlook to sync my contacts =(
Yeah, I think the main emphasis on Windows Mobile applications is for productivity/utilities, whereas for the iPhone as an example, it's more 'fun' apps.
Probably easy to do for WinMo but I'm no programmer so will have to just wait and see!
SkyBook (formerly Snap2Face) had this ability... unfortunately, the program went out of development mysteriously, and last week, the program stopped working for me. Check it out, maybe you'll have better luck.

But yes, please, anyone with the skills would be greatly appreicated if they took this project on!

You could try Book sync at http://www.booksync.co.uk/
It's not perfect, but I hope the developer would correct some bug in next versions.
The match between facebook and phone contacts is made manually, so that you could match contacts even if there is no phone number.
how can i save all my emails direct to storage card and not the phone, im talking about everything, html, attachments, etc.
also i only wish to access pop emails from the last 40 emails rather than last amount of days, is this possible?
also i emailed a picture to myself from outlook, it wasnt an attachment but i pasted it into the body, this does show on my hd2 but i cant actually view the image as an attachment, it wont even let me zoom into the image or save the image, how can i achieve this ??
are there any alternative email apps?
so far hd2's basic communication facilities seem backward, sms problems, email jpeg as attachments, etc.
a complete joke

2 hours and you give it a bump? have some patience
I remember a registry tweakk that I had on my HD that put all your emails on the SD card, but can't find it anymore. pity because depsite the HD2's larger memory I've had memory warnings a couple of times....something I NEVER had on the HD
sorry about the bumps, the hd2 is really doing my head in, i just want to be able to download apps from market place to my sd as well as emails on my sd,
it's annoying not being able to do this, someone must know ??

I would like to see the answer for this as well. I noticed that when I set up my complete GMail account (which has around 2.5k e-mails) the boot process is much much slower, and it takes a couple of minutes.

+1 wanna know this, too
Here is the link to how to do it, but I have the Storage Card 2 issue when I do the process:
forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-298646.html
ive had to flash my phone and it resync'd with outlook and all my contact pictures on htc hd2 (ALMOST 100 of them have pictures) are blurry..
is there a easy fix for this? or do i have to manually fix them all by searching my caller id pics on storage card?
Thanks for any help
Seconded. This is really annoying.
for high resolution pics of contacts, use iconsoft phone extension, and add the pics to the contacts from there...
Third for this! I just did it with the one at a time, took a while >_<

tnx mate, that was great info, but, the trial software will last few more days, and I need permanent solution.
It would be great if somebody cam make freeware simple app "add/edit picture contacts in high quality mode". app designed only for that one task.
Do u have a cub
hi all, as per title,
i have been sent some pictures into my yahoo accounrt.
i can view them on my phone but there is no option to save them :-(
does anyone have any ideas?
the options and settings are limited as i can see.
i did have an excel file i sent, that opened with quick office and gave me the option to save but then the file contains none of the data on the spreadsheet.
any advice or input would be wonderfuel.
thanks.
mahender.
solved i think
when email picture attachments are donloaded, the phone saves them in the camera folder under 'downloads'
it either also then adds them to 'all pictures'
or
i have had to move them using dual file manager i have installed.
if there is another way then please let me know
i think that it will also save anything from the email. i have deleted them now but there were little facebook banners and my yearbook banners in there too.
i dont really want to download every image from an email just what i choose.
regards
mahender.
