Why don't you upgrade to the Stock DK28 first? It's pretty simple to do.
Click on the link
If you click on the briefmobile.com link that is included in the post, it gives really simple instructions to upgrading to the Stock DK28.

remove the .md5 extension so it only has the .tar extension. It will work after that.
After you odin to dk28, I suggest rooting using the clockworkmod recovery 3.0.0.5 one click root method. It will format your phone to ext4 when you boot into recovery. I also highly recommend bonsai as a custom rom. I have been using v1.1.4 for quite a while. It is just as stable as stock eclair di18 and gives you an excellent froyo experience.

renamed MixUp201011100-1036.zip to update.zip and put it in sd card and tried to flash the update.zip after holding power/camera/volume. I think it installed correctly in clockwork but after rebooting, im stuck in the blue text.
what should i do now?

You have to use Odin. There are no kernels out until after the code has been released.

No, make a tar file that contains just the zImage file from SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL.tar.md5. If you flash that with Odin, it will replace the kernel only, leaving your /system and /data intact.

What happens when you press the Home button...? This is a major reason why you should do a backup before flashing ROMs. ODIN. Happened to me, and this fixed it. Get your Google on: ODINv3 & dk28 rom.
Please post questions in General section.
I was installing a new verison of a rom I had previously on my phone, did the wipe 3x, then installed. Now my phone just hangs at the samsun startup screen. somebody help please

What rom?...
nebula 1.0.7 from 1.0.5
I can boot into recovery and download , but not sure where to go from here
You could flashing a different rom. Or Odin to stock then reflash the rom
Do you have any backups that you can restore from? You can also try to flash it again and see how that goes. If nothing else you can use odin

how can i use odin to flash a rom? How can I add roms to my phone? It wont mount
You don't use Odin to flash a rom. You use it to flash stock kernal and modem. I mean, you could either try doing the wipe and flash a different rom. Or Odin to dk28, then flash a rom. If your phone won't mount, just stick the sd card in your computer (if you have the slot)

Do you want stock eclair 2.1 or leaked froyo 2.2.1?
To odin (flash) to froyo (even if you had eclair installed, you can use this to upgrade) follow these instructions
Download the required .tar file
Download Odin
Open up Odin and put your phone into “download mode”
Turn off your phone, wait until the lights turn off
Hold “1″ on the keyboard while powering up
Plug your device in
Place the .tar file in the PDA slot
Start flashing
Congratulations! You now have Android 2.2.1 Froyo (DK28) on your Samsung Epic 4G from Sprint!

Alternatively to odin (flash) back to eclair 2.1 you can follow the exact same steps from above except use this .tar instead
Download the required .tar file
Download Odin
Open up Odin and put your phone into “download mode”
Turn off your phone, wait until the lights turn off
Hold “1″ on the keyboard while powering up
Plug your device in
Place the .tar file in the PDA slot
Start flashing
Congratulations! You now have Android 2.1 Eclair (Di18) on your Samsung Epic 4G from Nextel!

I had the same thing happen to me when I first installed Nebula 1.0.7. I was able to fix it simply by booting back into CW and re-flashing the rom. Hope this helps you out.

This is your best bet. You have Nebula on your SD, boot in CW, reflash right over what you got. It should boot. If not you have no choice but to Odin to stock then try again.
I downloaded the 2.2 odin script, try to load into odin and it keeps giving me checksum and image path errors. any ideas? Also invalid image error

and its back!! now my last question, will I need to do anything else to try installing roms again? Like do I need to flash the modem or anything like that?
To stay with stock dk28 (not recommended because it isn't stable), you don't need to odin anything other than the tar I described.
For custom roms, you will need to reroot using the one click method described here.
This will install clockworkmod recovery 3.0.0.5 which will also reformat your phone to ext4. After this, you can flash your custom ext4 dk28 rom of choice (I like bonsai).
When you Odin, you already get the modem.

Hi!
I was earlier on EH18 rom & now I am currently on geewiz 2.8 kernal & system (which was flashed using CWM red recovery) with EH18 radio. I have tried to Odin stock EH03 rom (md5 is correct) on my phone but could not go beyond modem.bin. I tried the same with FC27 rom too. Every time i try to odin i am getting stuck at modem.bin.
Has my handset been locked by my service provider from whom i have bought the handset ie Reliance (india)?
If yes, how do i unlock it safely without disturbing any other settings so that i do not lose my connectivity with them?
If no, what else could be wrong?
Can i flash EH03 baseband (radio) via CWM??
I need to do this as I'm not able to upgrade my handset to AKOP ICS roms which need my phone to be atleast on EH03 before starting.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried odined the other full roms? Maybe that will help you pass the modem.bin step? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526488
i have tried flashing EH03 stock & geewiz full rom too but still no luck...
Heimdall uses itd own driver...maybe you would have more luck with that? Have you tried flashing just the radio with an older version of heimdall? Don't use the newest suite as the program has become more of a Odin replacement rather than a granular tool.
Actually, now that I think about it you could also try the 1 click eh03 package in the dev forum.

Pls help
Sounds like your partitions are screwed up or you are using an incompatible/bad version of CWM.
How do i restore my partitions? I have used CWM, stock as well as geewiz recovery to wipe data but all of them display similar mesage saying cannot format dbdata
Have you tried to Odin stock eh03 with the pit file? That may help. And make sure you check reparation

My SGY is Running Nemesis v1.1. I tried to flash stock ROM via Odin to install Merruk's Kernel 2.5. But it didn't work.
I have Kies installed. Odin v1.84. Firmware DDLA1.
My SGY was bricked once before. I used the same method and the same files and it flashed the stock ROM. But it is not working now. Odin is detecting my phone. When I load CSC, Moden and PDA files, and then press Start some message appears .tar, md5 invalid, and it shows "end" but the Green pass sign does not appear. Nemeis ROM is intact on my phone.
I have already done this before but somehow it is not working now. Please Help!!!

Ok, so I had a quick question before I do something stupid. I've been trying to install ROMs on my g900v but some fail, and some are successful. I do the same steps with all ROMs; wipe, install, boot. Some of them just won't install.
My question is: Do I have to have matching firmware or kernal installed prior to flashing the ROM for it to install successfully? (i.e. NK2 firmware on my phone would prevent a ROM made with NI2 firmware from installing)

Yes, have to be the same firmware version. You are referring to flashing through safestrap, correct?
Yes, using safestrap. So I have to have the matching firmware flashed before I attempt to flash there ROM? Also do I need to flash the kernel? Or does flashing the firmware include the kernal?

All you have to do is flash the firmware only tar nothing else. When you install whatever rom you want just boot into download mode after you install the rom then flash the firmware in odin. Each rom thread has the installation instructions in the op which should also have a link to the firmware needed for that rom.

Ok, my issue starts before that then. I go to install, we'll say Optimal ROM since that's the last one I had trouble with, and it says failed on the install. I wipe, and I have the proper firmware installed beforehand, but it still fails. I'm stumped.

Don't know why it's failing for you as long as you're doing a full wipe then flashing the rom (make sure the md5 matches on your rom download) then flash the firmware you shouldn't have a problem.

So the md5 for the firmware has to match the md5 for the ROM I'm trying to install? I mean I'm not new to this stuff, but the newer everything gets, the more complicated it gets, ya know. new phone for me and its a little more complicated this time around.

No what i was saying is after you download a rom you should check to make sure the md5 of that rom matches the posted md5 that's under every rom link. If your downloaded rom's md5 doesn't match what's posted then you got a bad download and you'll need to download the rom again till the md5 matches. Im thinking you have a bad download since you're failing installing certain roms. There's a few md5 checkers in the playstore or you can use a file manager like Astro file which i use to check my md5. That's the first place i would start if a rom failed to install.
