What rom?...

nebula 1.0.7 from 1.0.5

I can boot into recovery and download , but not sure where to go from here

You could flashing a different rom. Or Odin to stock then reflash the rom

Do you have any backups that you can restore from? You can also try to flash it again and see how that goes. If nothing else you can use odin

how can i use odin to flash a rom? How can I add roms to my phone? It wont mount

You don't use Odin to flash a rom. You use it to flash stock kernal and modem. I mean, you could either try doing the wipe and flash a different rom. Or Odin to dk28, then flash a rom. If your phone won't mount, just stick the sd card in your computer (if you have the slot)

Do you want stock eclair 2.1 or leaked froyo 2.2.1?
To odin (flash) to froyo (even if you had eclair installed, you can use this to upgrade) follow these instructions
Download the required .tar file
Download Odin
Open up Odin and put your phone into “download mode”
Turn off your phone, wait until the lights turn off
Hold “1″ on the keyboard while powering up
Plug your device in
Place the .tar file in the PDA slot
Start flashing
Congratulations! You now have Android 2.2.1 Froyo (DK28) on your Samsung Epic 4G from Sprint!
credit: briefmobile.com
Alternatively to odin (flash) back to eclair 2.1 you can follow the exact same steps from above except use this .tar instead
Download the required .tar file
Download Odin
Open up Odin and put your phone into “download mode”
Turn off your phone, wait until the lights turn off
Hold “1″ on the keyboard while powering up
Plug your device in
Place the .tar file in the PDA slot
Start flashing
Congratulations! You now have Android 2.1 Eclair (Di18) on your Samsung Epic 4G from Nextel!

I had the same thing happen to me when I first installed Nebula 1.0.7. I was able to fix it simply by booting back into CW and re-flashing the rom. Hope this helps you out.

This is your best bet. You have Nebula on your SD, boot in CW, reflash right over what you got. It should boot. If not you have no choice but to Odin to stock then try again.

I downloaded the 2.2 odin script, try to load into odin and it keeps giving me checksum and image path errors. any ideas? Also invalid image error

Now it says check image files

ok got past that, now it says write operation failed

nevermind, its going now. Lets hope this works!!! Thanks in advance to everybody that took the time to help

and its back!! now my last question, will I need to do anything else to try installing roms again? Like do I need to flash the modem or anything like that?

To stay with stock dk28 (not recommended because it isn't stable), you don't need to odin anything other than the tar I described.
For custom roms, you will need to reroot using the one click method described here.
This will install clockworkmod recovery 3.0.0.5 which will also reformat your phone to ext4. After this, you can flash your custom ext4 dk28 rom of choice (I like bonsai).

When you Odin, you already get the modem.

umm do you have the signed froyo update on yout sdcare if you do reneme it update.zip and flash it through stock recovery or try to get into clockwork somehow if that doesnt work youll have to go to odin.

You have to use Odin. There are no kernels out until after the code has been released.

No, make a tar file that contains just the zImage file from SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL.tar.md5. If you flash that with Odin, it will replace the kernel only, leaving your /system and /data intact.

What happens when you press the Home button...? This is a major reason why you should do a backup before flashing ROMs. ODIN. Happened to me, and this fixed it. Get your Google on: ODINv3 & dk28 rom.

problems with installing the syndicaterom frozen 1.1

hey all,
im fairly new to android and i've only had my phone for about a few weeks, but i do love to tinker and im fairly computer literate.
my goal is go install SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1.0(standard), for the speed and lightweight-ness(probably not a real word).
i've followed the instructions numerous times, but i think im definitely doing something wrong since its not working.
3-4 days ago i did install the "Froyo EC05 Prerooted/ClockWorkMod v2.5.1.0 (RFS Filesystem) Odexed" ROM from AndroidCentral, and it worked pretty well over the weekend.
after reading up about SyndicateROM frozen 1.1.0, it seemed like a natural progression for me. i've been struggling all morning with installing it. with modem firmwares, with clockwork(tho it did get installed)
i just flashed my phone back to 2.1 using Odin3+v1.61. i have the windows drivers installed properly. No SuperUser is installed. looks pretty plain jane 2.1 to me.
firmware: 2.1-update1
baseband : S700.0.5S.DI18
kernal: 2.6.29
build number: SPH-D700 ECLAIR.DI18
hardware version D700.0.5
how do i know what version my modem is?
in terms of following the instructions right now, which path would i follow?
looks like i need to follow "If you are not on EC05 or SyndicateROM Frozen 1.0.1/1.0.2:"
if thats the case, do i run CWM3 first? or do i flash the modem first?
also, when i go to flash my modem with "acs-ec05-modem.tar" in odin, it seems like the only field that will take a TAR file is the PDA field. is that correct?
the next step is to install/run clockwork, Wipe data for best results, and flash the ROM.
how do i go about flashing the rom in clockwork? is it the "apply update.zip" ?
to save you some time do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853209
Odin this: Stock EB13 Deodexed EXT4 + CW 3.0.0.6 (found in the link above)
Then odin the ec05 modem

You modem is the baseband so urs is d118,
in order to upgrade it, either use odin or i believe there is a flashable zip around the development section as well.

Sorry i changed my post just odin the above like you did for d118, and then odin the ec05 modem then flash syndicate.
And the modem goes in the phone section, it takes tar files
when you say flash syndicate, i have to boot into clockwork right? then goto "apply update", find the syndicate zip file and let it do its thing?
i did find a critical error tho, i looked on my sdcard, and my syndicaterom.zip(frozen 1.1.0) was only 1.5megs. hummm looks like my copy got jacked up.
After you odin and it re boots power off then go into cwm to let it do the ext4 conversion then it will boot then power off and flash modem then flash rom.

Benchmarks don't really mean anything unless you're comparing your phone to someone else's which I recognize that you are doing. As long as your phone is quick and smooth you're fine. Those numbers seem about right from what I've seen others post.
My universal process:
backup
format sd card
odin3 and flash stock of choice
root phone with clockwork mod of choice
install rom of choice
wipe wipe wipe
install kernal of choice
do a cartwheel

[JVH Install Help] Bell Canada

Here's what I did to get JVH (with 850mhz band) and CSC for Canada on my phone. It worked for me at least
Files:

**************Disclaimer:***************
I'm not responsible if this bricks your phone, as "the boss" said if I break mine, she'll break me... or I get a $20 replacement phone
Backup your /efs folder, backup EVERYTHING, just in case... I'm paranoid so I did it all
ROM NOTES:
Got deodexed from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11256520&postcount=1
Modem:
KC1
Busybox:
1.18.4
Hosts file updated for ad blocking using:
http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
Here's the steps I followed:
Save all files to folder/desktop
Connect phone via usb and copy JVH_KC1_BMC.zip to root of sdcard
Restart phone in download mode
Open Odin and click PDA
Select Speedmod tar file
Uncheck Auto-Reboot
Check F.Reset Time (I don't know what it does, but it's always checked)
Flash the tar.
Once complete and the box says "PASS" in green, unplug your phone and pull the battery (I was told it's safe, as it's in the MIUI instructions as well)
Put battery back in and start phone in recovery with VOL UP+HOME+POWER
In recovery choose to update from zip
Choose file from sdcard
Choose the JVH_KC1_BMC zip file and update
The phone will restart/install.
Once it's started up for the first time I recommend restarting in download mode and flashing the stock JVH kernal
You can also use any kernal you want.
Let me know if I can help at all. I was trying to make a completely odin flashable tar for this but failed miserably :9
I'll do my best to answer any questions however this is my first time making something to flash for you all
Note:
I'm not sure where to put this, sorry to mods/admins if it's in the wrong spot, please let me know
Hi,
I saw your thread, and I found it very interesting for people who own a Bell SGS 9000m Vibrant and wanna upgrate to Gingerbread.
So I decided to flash the Gingerbread JVH ROM just like you did, but I need to know a few things:
1. Will I be able to downgrade to my original stock froyo after this flash ?
2. Will I be able to update via Kies in case Bell release an official gingerbread update ?
3. Right now my phone is SIMUnlocked, will I lose my SIMunlockation after the flash ?
4. And is my actual configuration right to excecute this flash or should I flash something else before ?
My configuration is the following:
Baseband version
I9000UGJL2
Firmware
2.2
Kernel
2.6.32.9
[email protected] #3
Build number
FROYO.UGJL2
galaxy s vibrant bell
gt-i9000m
Thanks for your hard work, I hope to read back from you soon.
I have exact same configuration and exact same questions as poster above!!!
Still no answer... Guess we'll have to try if wanna know...

I am going to try. So there is no need for me to select any Pit file or did the guy forget to mention it ? Also can we tick the repartition option in Odin?
Sorry if I ask usekess question I am used to flash android but new to the SGS flashing...
when you repartition you need a PIT file.
My advice is to not repartition unless you need it.
Too late... I did it got stuck into bootloop. I had an error when I tried to install the zip from the recovery (I had recovery 3e) : E : Short write of /tmp/sideload/package.zip (No space left on device) . However, I flashed the back eclair JHL and went back to the stock eclair rom. I am going to restart from there following your intructions. I now have recovery 2e ( Somehow I can't get ClockWorkMod Recovery to load directly; it always send me to recovery 2e and there I apply update.zip to go to CWM recovery)
Thanks for your help, I'll let you know if I manage to get it done.
Still get the error E:Short write of/tmp/sideload/package.zip (No space left on device) when try to install JVH_KC1_BMC.zip from the recovery 3e ( this recovery comes right after I flash SpeedmodK15E_withLoaders.tar ...
Don't know what else to try... Help please..
I did it a slightly different way. From 2.2, I flashed a stock 3 part gingerbread rom (phone, PDA, CSC) with bootloader update using ODIN 1.82. I then flashed CF root gingerbread kernel for CWM3 and then flashed the KC1 modem from clockwork recovery for the 850 band.
Could you please show me the exact files you used so I can try to do the same ?
Aren't there at least a couple threads on how to install jvh/jvp on an i9000? Its the exact same process as those you just have to flash the kc1 modem via cwm after you are done. It sounds like you guys are experimenting too much.

Our canadian phone is not really different from all the other ones, so you don't need a special "Bell Canada" installation.
If you want JVH, you can follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818556
You don't have to do everything like fugumod, etc. I would flash JVH via odin and then flash CF root kernel via odin so you get CWM3.
There's also leaked 2.3.4 JVP gingerbread out, if you feel inclined:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
There's a way to enable 850 band on the different gingerbread modems, but i never bothered, I just flashed the KC1 modem for Bell which has the band (via CWM3). Search for I9000UGKC1

Okay I am really starting to freak out now...
I am stuck in bootloop, I can't get out og it. I tried flash Back the Stock Bell Firmware but it keeps boot looping. Download mode is okay. But it started doing this I had a message like sd could not be mounted in recovery 3e. Now I can't even access recovery after I flash Eclair but Download mode is still okay...
Aby ideas ?
Have you tried flashing back the stock JL2 firmware from bell? (found on samfirmware.com)
I've never encountered this error before, I wonder if it is a problem with the bootloaders, as the official froyo firmware from bell had a secondary bootloader and gingerbread has its own bootloaders as well.

I imagine you'll need the stock bell firmware as said above and also the proper PIT file to go along with it.
Sent from my Darky's i9000m
Also if you repartitioned it when you tried to flash the whatever it was when you tried you will also have to repartition it when going back down to froyo.
2.2 and 2.3 use different bootloaders therefore if you try to mix and match rom's without the bootloaders and repartioning you will get a ****y phone.

Thanks for your help guys. I didn't solve it yet, but i will open a new thread to prevent this one from getting to messy.

OMG I have an EMERGENCY... please help, I've searched for hours. :-(

So I am not to NOOB but I sure acted like it last night when I was way tired and tried to flash a ROM. Here is what I did...
I didn't catch that I didn't have the CWM but that I had booted into the stock recovery tool... Well I didn't before it was to late that is...
I clicked WIPE DATA
I clicked WIPE CACHE
Then noticed there was no "install from SD"
So it seems like whatever I find to install from ODIN I can't get the CWM to install so I can then flash a ROM!
I need my phone up for work, I am in HOT SH!T!
How can I either flash a rom via stock recovery "update format" OR install CMW via ODIN?
PLEASE HELP ASAP!!
Thank you
why don't you just flash again via odin and then root your phone via odin as well?
Don't quite understand whats your problem. So what if you wiped data and cache the rom is still there. Reboot normally and flash cfroot according to your firmware and then you should have cwm up and running. After that flash desired rom and the end.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Flash one of the CF-Root kernels through Odin, whichever one matches the firmware you're running. They have CWM baked in, along with root so you can flash a ROM afterwards.
If you can't get into download mode, turn your phone off, plug it in and hold down + power + home and it should boot into download mode. Then you can flash with Odin.
I thought the same thing, that so what that I wiped them... but when I rebooted the phone it just sits at the "Rethink possible screen"
I can get into download mode and I did find the "cf" post but I dunno what kernel I am running as I can't boot to go into settings to seek.
if you in recovery mod choose reboot, and it will be ok, than read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399,
or put in download mod: turn your phone off, hold down + power + home. Then flash with Odin.
I know you probably don't want to, but you can try doing a factory reset, that should allow you to get your phone up and running. If you have gmail installed it should put all your contacts back, as long as you backed up to gmail.
If you have an old copy of titanium backup you won't loose ALL your apps, this is why I tend to back up every weekend, I'm only a week behind with everything if problems arise....
Cheers...

like I said, I am not a noob, just made a mistake...
I found the cf-kernel page, but I dunno what kernel I am running and so I dunno what kernel to flash (It seems vital)
"just rebooting" don't work lol I wish... it hangs at the "rethink possible" boot screen...
I was rooted but running the stock rom, if I can get CWM installed I think I will be golden, but whatever I seem to flash from ODIN don't work :-( no matter what nothing will flash as "PDA" but when I flash using "phone" it seems to install "zimage" which is the embedded file and succeeds and phone reboots... but still only to the rethink possible point.
flash any stock firmware then flash supercore 2.0 and do whatever you want from there
Think i know what the problem is,i have same issue sometimes, try flashing anogher rooted Kernel through odin, make sure its like if the rom is a kj3 that it has a kj3 kernel.see if that works

Okay odin in the cwm5 recovery ill link it make sure you got the .tar and once that's done boot into it. Wipe data cache and dalvik and flash marcusants rom it will say checking state of bml/mtd and it will reboot and put you back in and saying installing up date it will say complete and should reboot you automatically

ok sorry already have a problem. when i odined i knew i had to flash su first to be rooted but when i put it into recovery it came up in manual mode with no options but reboot apply update wipe date and wipe cache. did this happen because i had to odin acs also or odin a kernal again?
This is what is needed you odin in the recovery don't have auto reboot checked and 3 finger salute into cwm power button camera and volume down... then you'll be in cwm5 flash the el30 kernel from toadlife and then you can just flash su if you planon staying on stock if not then flash the rom you want to be on...

sounds like somebody didn't read the sticky in the dev section very well
start over. odin a stock ec05, run the root package, flash whichever modem you want (probably the latest, there's a flashable zip to go from ec05-el30), then flash the rom of your choice. easy as that.
okay it started to work as you guys sent this info but anyway heres what i have. model sph-700

baseband s:d700.0.55.ec05
