Hi
I have following questions:
1) How do I use Computer USB Keyboard with Motorola Atrix ?
2) Is it possible to connect Motorola Atrix with Laptop and you can use Laptop Keyboard and Laptop Screen to see and use everything in Atrix without using Motorola Webtop laptop ?
Thanks
In the Atrix Development forum you'll find a hack that allows you to use the Atrix webtop on any monitor/TV with HDMI. Pair a bluetooth mouse and keyboard with your Atrix to use them on the webtop. Works great here, didn't even require root.
Also, if you have a HD multimedia dock, you can plug a USB mouse or keyboard into the available USB ports in the back of the dock. It works well!

see above post, that's what I am using (I forgot to specify that it was USB wireless), a Logitech (can't remember model number) wireless USB keyboard and mouse. works perfectly, even the volume buttons, etc. on the keyboard.

If you're not using the HD multimedia dock (via the Webtop hack), then no, you can't use them as there are no USB ports you can plug your receiver into. You will have to settle for bluetooth devices.
Callen81 has a video that shows how USB hardware can be connected to the Atrix. It requires soldering two connections, and a powered USB hub, but it can be done.
HDMI mirroring, from what I can understand from your broken English (I'm not hating, but it's true.) is not possible on the Atrix (yet!). You can, however, see the mobile OS from webtop mode in a separate window. And on the laptop, you can plug in USB keyboards and mice to the ports in the back.

actually mirroring was enabled (see dev forum), but it's not as easy. it also will only show portrait mode (no landscape)

Yes, and the point is that it's still got the same, if not worse, performance that it would have on Webtop mode. At least, I think.
If the Atrix can read USB sticks (?) then would plugging a standard USB stick, which has a USB1-typeA-plug on it, require a converter that was a "USB1 Type A recepticle" converting to a "USB2-micro-TypeB-plug?
Would that be the correct nomenclature for the USB adapters, and does anyone know if you can buy that premade, or whether the Atrix absolutely will or won't recognize a USB stick that way?
I'm also looking for some USB2-micro-TypeB-plugs either on or off a wire, to try adding the drop resistor to pin 5 so I can tell the Atrix "You're in a car dock now" or just "you're in a dock now" and force it into the other modes.
I'll probably roll my own car dock, mainly because I want my Atrix (in an Otter Commuter) to be secured in the dock. Really secured, so if I flip and roll and total out the car, the Atrix is still exactly where I left it. The spring-clip jobbies will turn your phone into a missile if someone whacks into you, making calls for help impossible.
keyboard is connecting via bluetooth but i am not been able to use it, is there something that i am missing here ?
I have a Logitech set keyboard and mouse and when plug in both work with same usb plug.

Has anyone found a way to tether through one of the Smart Dock USB ports? I'm interested in using the data from my phone but don't want to use the Hotspot function (don't want to root or pay for HotSpot so I wanna use tethering).
This Smart Dock was alot more finnicky that I had thought. For those having trouble, for me at least, HDMI and anything you're connecting via USB have to be plugged into the dock before you dock your phone to get anything to work. I also have to plug in the HDMI to get the USB ports to work which doesn't make sense to me but what do I know. I was surprised the dock doesn't have the full Micro B connector which I thought was necessary to have MHL and USBOTG at the same. If that's not the case, I'm not sure I understand what the extra pins are for on the Micro-B plug. My screen also automatically shuts off when I dock with HDMI, not sure if that's a "feature" or not.

Maybe it's my model number. I got the EDD-S20EWE. I notice the current one is S20JWE. Or maybe the $60 sale on Amazon got me a knock-off. In any case, there's no way in heck I could recommend this thing to anyone. Too finnicky. One of those gadgets you gotta hold your tongue right to make it work like its supposed to. It works when it wants to for me. I'm driving myself crazy unplugging and plugging stuff back in and restarting things to make it work.
If you want a desktop experience like me, instead of this thing, I'd recommend Screen Mirroring, bluetoothing to keyboard/mouse, and either tethering your data if need that like me, or adding the USB Connector dongle for any other USB items you need. Much less headache from my experience. YMMV.
Hi All,
I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I bought MHL 2.0 and OTG cables.
Both are working fine, if it is used separately.
Meaning, connecting MHL cable to T.V's HDMI for watching movies, videos in bigger screen is superb.
Similiarly, connecting OTG for external thumb drive, keyboard and mouse are nice feature.
I want to use both MHL and OTG cable (wireless keyboard / mouse USB dongle connected to OTG), so that I can watch it in TV and also use mouse and keyboard. I have tried the below options:
Option1:
Connected MHL to TV and Note 3. In MHL we have micro USB for power but for Note 3, MHL don't need the separate power supply and so I have tried connecting OTG to the MHL power, but it is not detected
Option 2:
I have googled and came to know Samsung Smart Hub Dock, but it says not compatiable for Note 3 and S5
Option 3:
Googled more and got this "VicTsing® Multi-functional 3 in 1 Connection Kit USB OTG" but unfortunately this also mentioned not supported to use both MHL and OTG at the same time.
Week back only I have bought new wireless keyboard and mouse for $90 and don't want to spend again in buying bluetooth keyboard and mouse which would cost (more than $150)
Any suggestions on how to connect MHL (for HDMI) and OTG(for connecting wireless keyboard/mouse) at the same time
I can offer you some work arounds. I personally use BT mouse and keyboard. (BTW a kind of stupid oversight I use microsoft sculpt bt mouse that I remember specifically states on the box full android functionality not that I cared at the time, anyway when only the mouse is connected I cant get the on screen keyboard to work as if the mouse HID is recodnized as both)
there are more then a few software sollutions involving sharing HID via Wifi through your pc and router or computer to phone BT connection. or aby tablet as remote on screen HID but I think having a good cheap BT set near by is generally usefull for more then a few things so I do believe its worth the one time spending.
On another note I couldent figure out if Samsung has a Multimedia Dock Specifically for Note 3 since it would be more then ideal

There is one that works
See this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/accessories/mhl-usb-otg-t1741583/page22
SKU: 238273 on DealExtreme DX.com
That is the one I have and the same one "brb8two" mentions in comment #217.
It works perfect with my S4 and also works with my Wireless Xbox receiver, but it is MHL 1.0 which I believe is NOT a full 60frames or whatever, so it may appear slightly laggy but not bad and definitley better than the Samsung hub option for $99.
If you come across one with MHL 2.0 please let me know. Haven't been able to find one yet.
