hboot 0.92 - Droid Incredible General

Can someone please give me the link to hboot 0.92?
Thanks

The link on the virtuous page you tried worked for me?

Or you could try this one hosted by Adrynalyne
http://adrynalyne.us/files/hboot/PB31IMG.zip

http://chad0989.dyndns.org/PB31IMG-hboot-0.92.0000.zip

Thanks guys. Must have something todo with IE i will try downloading with Chrome.

M$ IE and downloading
I noticed that trying to download files while using Microsoft internet explorer some times it is necessary to right click the link and choose save target as, since just clicking normal, one left click, fails to download the file. I'm not sure why this happens sometimes but I have encountered this at web page forum sites much more often than other types of web page sites.
IMO It's a good idea to install a back up browser to IE anyhow since some attacks break IE but leave other installed browsers alone.

My biggest annoyance with Android's web browser

Android comes with a seriously awesome web browser. It can easily browse regular desktop versions of web pages even over EDGE with no major problems. I'm so glad to leave crippled mobile versions of web pages behind me forever.
EXCEPT
Google, of all places, seems to have some kind of lock preventing the Android browser from gaining access to the desktop versions of their websites. They come up with the mobile versions by default, and even if you click the button to switch it to the desktop version, it doesn't. It takes you to yet another mobile version that is just styled a little closer to the desktop version, but it's by no means identical.
Google built this browser, they know that it can handle desktop webpages, why won't they let us do that with their own sites? I find it really annoying to deal with crippled versions of Google's web pages. In Gmail I can't edit my contacts, in YouTube... I don't know what the hell's going on... all I see is large ugly text, in Google Search I don't have the convenient switch to image search while viewing web results. It's FRUSTRATING.

I really dont know why your browser does that, but I have access to the regular google.com classic view page. I can pic between web, images, local, news.. etc.. I can also log to igoogle.com
I can aswell
Most mobile sites have a link to view the regular site. Google has this.
go to www.google.com then you see on the bottom Mobile is default choice, click on CLASSIC to view the regular website version
Anyone else having an issue with the browser where after a while it no longer renders the pages?
It shows the progress bar filling up and done, but just a blank page.

Yes I've had that problem as well as not being able to get into market have no clue why. Frustrating!!!
I keep having this problem too. The only thing that seems to solve the problem is a restart. I dont know if it has anything to do with me clearing the cache but it IS verry annoying.
Yeah, even killing the browser process doesn't do it either.

thats network issues with thew the 3g when i disable 3g it worked but sometimes it wont
i think it has to do with your cache i wish they come out with a new firmware that lets you save programs to sdcard or cache to sd card
I'm having the same issues. It was working when I first got the phone, but now it only gives me the option for mobile view.
I found a solution to the most annoying, biggest mistake from Google. For those who loved iGoogle and cant find it, here it is:
www.google.com/ig/i?source=mofe
And here is an alternate BETA site from Yahoo as backup:

MySpace.com blocked?

I can't figure out a way to get to MySpace.com via the phone's browser. Any attempt to visit the URL just gives me an ad for the Android app (which I hate). There are links to the (worthless) mobile site and the desktop version of the site, but the link they provide to the desktop version just gets intercepted by their stupid advertisement again, making it inaccessable. Does anybody know a workaround for this problem?
I really wish there was a browser setting to tell the browser to just identify itself as a desktop browser instead of a mobile one, I can't stand it when I get automatically redirected to a mobile version of a site every time I visit it.
Welcome to the world without Microsoft where everything is called "OPEN" but your every move is limited and controlled.
I have noticed many other "controls" in the browser which I hate. None of that stuff ever happens on MICROSOFT products, everything is REALLY open, not "open source dictatorship", Google style.
yea that myspace desktop version being unavailable is really annoying being that the desktop version works better and faster than the myspace app itself....i dnt even understand how it is blocked and y!!!!

This has nothing to do with the phone. This has to do with the website itself. You never have these issues on MS products because MS products don't let the webserver know if it is a mobile browser.
I like your misguided conspiracy theory thou... keep it up.
surely you can change how the client identifies itself, im sure this is in IE settings, or was that opera, or a reg setting, ho hum ...

Just go to home.myspace.com and you will be taken directly to the desktop version
Solution...
just type in us.myspace.com and the desktop version will come up...

It doesn't work correctly half the time. I am a web developer and have had more issues with the wings browser than the G1's.. There is a reg setting but I can't change other peoples reg settings.
And before you know it we will have the same settings on the G1 to do similar things.

The Best Way to Download Youtube Videos (GUARANTEED)

I have finally discovered the best method to download youtube videos in the highest quality in playable format on our G1's.
I will update this as frequently as I can to make sure it stays current/works properly.
Alright, so steps 1 and 2 only need to be done one time.
1st: Go to the market and download MyBookmarks.
2nd: Open it, click import your bookmarks (type in 0420420420 when asked for your phone #)
Simply import the bookmark! (one by one or all at once)
3rd: Just go to the youtube page of choice on your stock browser, and once on it go to your bookmarks. Find and click the new bookmark (usually at the very bottom) called "YouTube Downloader".
Thats it. It'll instantly start downloading.
If you would like to rename the file, get a file manager such as ASTRO from the market. For Astro open it up, find the file in /sdcard/downloads and long press it. Then choose edit and rename..
Don't forget to 5* Rerwares great apps! Show them some support
Also Steel functionality has been added.
1. Go to www.xblight.com/tube.html on your steel browser.
2. Since copy and paste doesnt work too well on steel, do this. Hold down shift (arrow facing up, bottom left of keyboard) and start moving the trackball around until the code it all highlighted. Then hold down the track ball and copy all.
3. Now simply add a new bookmark and paste that in the bottom portion.
4. Now just do it the same way as before. Go to a youtube video page and click on the bookmark.
The good thing about the steel method is that it lets you rename the file on the fly
If you are on the youtube application, watching a video, and suddenly decide you want to download it, do the following. Hit menu -> share. Long press the link and copy all. Then just paste it in the URL hit enter, and click on your bookmark =)
I've also added several things which you can see below in the changelog.
Don't try to do it any other way, the steel code does NOT work in the stock browser and vice versa.
E-mail me at [email protected] with any suggestions or problems.
Changelog:
1.0 - Works and downloads the very highest available quality.
1.1 - Quick fix. Found out that our g1's don't like to play the HD videos so now it gets the highest quality that isn't HD.
1.2 - Now it will check to see if you are actually on a youtube video page. If not itll redirect you to the youtube homepage. (Code altered to work on steel)
1.3 [1-3-09] - It now gives you a message right before you redirect so you know whats going on =P. Also the name was changed to YouTube Downloader.
Enjoy!
Where does it store the stuff you Download? Just wondrin...
EDIT - Never mind - I had a go and it goes in the downloads folder on the sdcard an d it works WONDERFULLY!! Thanks for this
Dais xx
I have no clue how you got that to work but great job!
Can't you just cut/paste the bookmark here instead of us needing to get it from that saved bookmark via the import bookmark program?
My guess is it must just be a URL to a site that uses the previous URL you were at (I think it's called the Referrer URL)?
I would but it doesnt work.
If you copy and paste the code in a bookmark on android it'll instantly add http:// to the beginning.
The code is in javascript and adding http:// will render it useless.
This is the only way around it.
Plus its quicker for everyone
so you are just changing the url on the fly?
can it be done with a simple http referrer check?
if you are one of the people who setup one of those sites I think you could do it that way and then it would work from any browser/phone/pc without javascript
1. goto youtube.com/foo?goo=hoo&ioo=joo
2. goto someutubehack.com/getmedavid
3. script getmedavid looks at the referrer which is the url in 1
4. script getmedavid gets the vid and sends it back to you
5. you save it
6. profit! (sorry I read to much /.)
Yeah,
That works, but this way is the quickest way for android phones.
And yea, it just changes the url on the fly,
and if the video has HD available, it gets that version.
Meaning best quality every time =)
Go to the URL in my first post.
There are several methods to do the same thing.
This rocks! Thanks for sharing...
I had previously used another method for downloading, but how does it get any easier than this? You just hit Youtube, find the video, and hit the bookmark.
Only downside is needing to rename the video after download, but that's the same as with any PC-based downloader as well.
worked like a charm
EDIT- So do you have to go through step 2 again everytime? I had to because i couldnt find the "DL Youtube Video" bookmark in my bookmarks..??
If you downloaded it within the past 6-7 hours it will be called Youtube Downloader.
I updated it last night and found that name more fitting.
EDIT: New instructions added check above.
am I crazy or is mybookmarks gone from the market? Lost it when I did a wipe installing 1.41
You're carzy! hehe
I just literally downloaded it from the Market myself... maybe do a search.
Phil

Hey fyi 0420420420 no longer has the bookmark. Can you reup it or give a similar solution like you gave to steel users? It was working earlier today but I went to jf1.41 and forgot to save it. Thx
Use the steel link and copy the code and save it to your own bookmarks and upload it to your own number in mybookmark. I just did this and it worked. Plus now you have your own personal copy.
Yes, it appears someone has replaced the bookmark.
I put it back up, still 0420420420.
Don't know why anyone would do that.
Also, the steel code does NOT work with the stock browser.
The easiest and basically only way to get this working on the stock browser is like this.
sweet another reason to get sidetracked at work. good stuff.
Yea don't pay any attention to me. Whoa I got 2 now I'm on a row baby. Well thanks for this anyways, I can't stop downloading from youtube.

Thanks for the update, but is it really that easy to change a book mark, what a crappy way to set up that app then...
btw, you may want to tell people to do it one by one. cause when your old 420 bookmark was overwritten, there were about 25 bookmarks. i did one by one, and went thru each one hoping that yours was still there, but it'd be a total pain in the ass if you imported all 25 and had to delete them
thanks this is great. i love the fact that it downloads in mp4 format which is great for easy importing into your computer.
I just never thought anyone would overwrite mine.
So sad
I'm gonna talk rerware and see if theres a way to lock it.
EDIT: RERWARE IS GOING TO LOCK 0420420420!

[Q] Blackberry view

How can I get my Iconia to display Huffington Post in the normal way and Not the Blackberry view. I can type in the adderss ---.com and it adds /Blaackberry.
thanks
Secular
Most browsers have a setting where it "declares" itself as a mobile or a desktop version. Some sites show a different page depending on what the browser says. For me, I have set my Dolphin browser to say it's a desktop, and problem solved. I can't help you with the default one though, I have removed it some time ago.
Go to Settings -> Advanced and change Viewing mode to Desktop. Should help you with most of the sites, but there are still ones that recognize it as a mobile device. My Desire HD opens the desktop version but the Iconia is still recognized as a mobile device
EDIT: Just tried it with the site you want to open - unfortunately it's the mobile version again.
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
Most sites now also have a link, usually in the header or footer of the content, to switch to "Full view" or something similar...
Edit: huff post has a View Desktop option at the bottom, click it. Enjoy.
And if that don't work, try http://www.huffingtonpost.com/?m=false
dont work
Nothing youve suggested works. Always goes to /Blackberry.
There is no desktop toggle at the bottom, nor a relative setting. I am set to desktop though.
Didnt used to have this problem.
Even the direct link with /?m=false ....??? No idea then
Did you try clearing your cache, etc. The tablet may have some residual info of the site and loads it that way to optimize the load time.
If you clear the cache, and navigate directly to the desktop site, you might be ok.

I doubt it would work because I have never opened the site the OP wants in desktop mode and still got the mobile version.
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
Really?!?
An entire thread dedicated to user agent at the Huffington Post?!?
To the OP. Write an email to them telling their webmaster to get off his dead azz and find an up to date script that detects user agent correctly instead of the ancient one he's using.
That's the only way you're going to be able to see the site the way you'd like to.
If any of y'all want to see something funny, go to:
http://whatsmyuseragent.com/
Try at least two different browsers, and see how most sites detect your OS, and browser. You'll be surprised!

[Q] HTML Editing: Linking to various local file(types)

background: my kindle is rooted
So as part of my plan to use my Kindle Fire as an academic tool of
efficiency and versatility I have downloaded all of my college course syllabus's into my kindle.
I'm trying to create a local version of two of my syllabuses which are riddled with HTML links which link to other pages.
Now I've been able to do this with some success by downloading each of the pages and placing them in the same folder so that when I tap on the link for "Short Papers" it takes me to the page that explains them all.
However many of the deeper links are actually URLs to services like jSTOR which provide PDFs for viewing and download. I have already downloaded said PDF and have it in a folder, at the moment the same folder as the syllabus. This is so that when the time comes I can just hit the link to the reading and go straight to it instead of going to the page online to download it.
However when I try to replace the URL link in the html towards Reading1.pdf, rather than it say it cannot be found when I try and open it, nothing quite happens.
This leads me to ask the following questions:
1. Is the HTML wrong? I used DroidEdit and simply and exactly replaced the URL "website.com" within <a href=website.com> with Reading1.pdf
2. Would the HTML viewer make a difference? At the moment I'm using the default Kindle HTML viewer to read these files.
3. Do you think file associations has any impact? At the moment I have ezPDF reader pro as the default PDF viewer?
4. If this can be made to work, is it possible to link to multiple formats and have them each open up within their own file association? Meaning if I had an html document that linked to various books (mobi/epub), pdfs, docxs within my sdcard (whatever the directory should be..), etc. Would it be possible to tap on them all and have my mobi's open on the kindle default viewer, pdfs on ezpdf, docxs on quickoffice and epubs on Goreader?
If so I feel as if I can avoid the hassle of each of those readers having their own incomplete collections of my overall total works.
Let me know if you require any more details or if I need to clarify anything about what I'm asking,
Thanks.
New development, I tried using Dolphin Browser HD to open the html file and this time, the link to the Pdf worked and it opened into ezpdf!
Now I have to figure out a way to make the Dolphin browser the default association with html.

Go to Settings -> Applications -> Select All Applications (selector)
Locate Browser and click on it.
Down near the Bottom, look for Launch by Default and click on the Clear Defaults
After you have done that, when you select a web page, it will show all of the browsers that could be use, make sure you click on make default, and select Dolphin Broser....
