I guess this is a misplaced post...but I'm a forum newb and have no posting privileges in the developers forums yet...
From the Nexus One Developers Forum -- Post: [ADDON] T-Mobile WiFi Calling for CyanogenMod 7.0.0 --
"That's not the kind of memory He is talking about. The 228 megs is your RAM. HE IS TALKING ABOUT SYSTEM ROM MEMORY. You can find this info if you look at TITANIUM BACKUP, on the bottom, one of the numbers will be system ROM (as in the partition used for the ROM). The N1 doesn't have much system memory. It can cause issues if you have less than ten mb.
Edit: there are other ways (probably more accurate) to find this info also but, titanium backup is the easiest.
Sent from my NS running NSCollab 1.0.32 cuz I. STILL can't find my tin cans and string ...."
i used root explorer, went in and deleted a bunch of **** i dont use in system/app and i be damned if it didnt work. thanks heaps dude
...so here's my problem...When I fire up Ti Backup I see:
System ROM: 152MB (729kB free)
Internal: 205MB (148 MB free)
SD Card: 7.93 GB (4.01 GB free)
This is after updating to the latest nightly of CM7, and clearing everything but the apps I'm not likely to give up for WiFi calling. My internal space went way up, but there was no change to system rom, which leads me to believe I don't understand what folks were talking about when they refer to system ROM.
How do I go about freeing up 10 MB system rom? It apparently isn't done by deleting apps...
Thanks!
System/apps.
I think more specifically, you have to delete apps that are part of the rom you are running.
best way to see exactly which apps are in the system rom is to use astro.
I just hit up, up until I get to system, then I go to apps.
example. I have torch, as part of the rom I'm using (E-extremeMod 2.0), Using the app manager, i can't uninstall it.(under the all apps setting),.It's part of the ROM. You have to go through a ROM before installing, and delete items you don't want installed.or use Titanium backup.
Titanium backup can force remove the app, using the recovery exploit, but I haven't done it yet. Hard press on the app in the backup/restore area.
I use titanium to delete system apps.
White-user's apps
Red- System's apps
Green- System's apps with useful data (i wouldn't delete anything green).
Use small gapps and down load google apps from market so its installed in data/app instead of system/app.
I deleted also these system apps:
-Adw launcher since I use Adw Ex
-cm wallpapers
-news and weather
-file manager since I use astro and root ex.
-home screen tips
-a few others that I don't use
i am facing sever internal memory problem. A month ago while facing the same issue. It was around 400MB a month ago but it started going down on daily basis. Couple of days ago, it was 113MB and today i am hovering around 100MB.
Did not install any software, instead i am constantly uninstalling them. Checked via settings--->applications--->Manage applications and the largest application i have is "calendar storage" that is taking 46.55MB... facebook takes around 28MB and the if i count all the apps till the size of 1 MB, they are not more than 300MB. i don't think so that the remaining apps having a size of less than a MB will accumulate to 600MB.
Don't know what to do... please suggest...
I think any tries to answer would fail without having more details:
What ROM do you have? What have you tried so far? Can you try a factory reset?
A different ROM, maybe?

using HTC sense... did not root it... factory reset is an option but i am not sure whether it would help... also, anybody with any possible reasons so it can be avoided?
Froyo or Gingerbread?
Could be an app/service with a memory leak.
Maybe there is something corrupted in the system partition.
Did you experience any phone reboots/application crashes?
Do you have the latest over the air software update?
Is the phone up-to-date?
I'm no expert, I'm just trying to help.

Sense 2.1
Android 2.3.3
Since it's a UK based phone, HTC says 2.3.5 and sense 2.3 will be sent in couple of days.
I did not experience any unexpected reboots/application crash....
All of my software is bought from android market and i keep them updated.
Last night after posting this topic, i deleted couple of apps and the memory was increased to 123MB from 103... just checked now... (after 12hours), its already 116MB with the annoying memory notification on top bar....
I downloaded an app called "diskusage" that shows the following breakdown:
Applications: 296 MB
System Data: 753 MB
Free: 112 MB
As per my understanding, system data is the culprit... is it normal? and any suggestions to fix it?

If you would have had root, it would be simple: do a full backup, wipe the device and see if it happens again. If it does, restore from backup, you're back and didn't lose and info. In your case it's quite hard to find the cause.
Not sure you'll be able to find the cause without wiping out.
Maybe uninstalling apps one by one might work? It'll take time.
I have one question because I see you write "memory" but from the discussions it's not clear if you're talking of free RAM of storage space.
Memory normally means RAM but now I think you might be speaking of the storage space.
There is a big difference between the two.
The increase of data is due to apps that save a lot of things and almost never clean
Even when you uninstall
The good behaviour to have is the remove apps through the settings doing first : force stop app (if running) then remove data (which is causing your trouble) then uninstall app and only then
Because if you don't you have to parse manually your data and find what was kleft behind and remove it (requires root)
Download this app and see if it's able to clear a lot of data.

If nothing works, do a factory reset. Just make sure you've ticked both options under Settings>Privacy, so that you'll get back your apps when you sign in with your Google account. Also check that you've saved your contacts as Google contacts. Your SD card won't be erased unless you choose it.
That should clear any redundant files or whatever is hogging your space. It'll be a bit of work to set your phone up again, but it'll be as good as new.
nothing worked, i did the factory reset and memory is back to normal - showing 60MB of system data and 200 MB of application data... mybackup was pretty useful!
thanks all for your suggestions but i believe there was a leakage.
USEFUL ADVICE ON MY FIRST XDA MINICM9 TO SYSTEM IS NOT SATURATED underside to install Google Apps gapps-ics-20120429-signed install the Google Apps gapps-ics-20120201-signed. the system remain com 50 mb free
FROM ALREADY THANK YOU XDA.
install Google Apps gapps-ics-20120201 has 23.2 MB
While:Google Apps gapps-ics-20120429 has 49.6 MB
therefore removes more space in your installation
Hi, I've been having lags on my stock-rom, rooted, xposed and xprivacy installed Nexus 4 16GB.
So I installed lagfix and ran androbench before and after (rebooted too).
Random Write is stuck at ~0.34.
People are reporting a value around 1.00 as normal for this device, right?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Chris

how many free available storage left? try to free 25% of your total storage for garbage collection.
Hi, thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it. Right now I have 3.23...
I just want to share my notes and links about successful experience of the Evervolv KitKat 4.4 ROM installation on a Nexus One device.
Developer's thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540366
1. I installed BlackRose Bootloader (see link in the first post of the dev thread) and partitioned my SD to have sd-ext Ext4 partition. Actually, I don't use it yet, because it looks like forced moving of apps to SD (or other "cheating") is not reliable, see e.g. here (about similar ROM): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2573352
2. Installed TWRP, getting info here: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/51
"Direct download" lead me to some spam so I used "Recovery Image Method" to install the Recovery.
3. Resized System partition using BlackRose.
After several not very successful attempts to install both Evervolv ROM and GApps I ended with System partition size = 240 Mbytes, and Cache = 10 Mb (I didn't play with changing Cache...)
4. Using Recovery I installed the two zip files:
4.1. The latest Evervolv ROM from here: http://evervolv.com/devices/passion ( ev_passion-nightly-2014.07.16-squished.zip )
4.2. "GApps Minimal 4.4.4" which is 23Mbytes in size using link from this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/standard-minimal-gapps-t2012857
The two ZIPs currently occupy about 231MBytes in /system (check this using "df" command in the stock "Terminal emulator" application)
5. Of course I extensively did "Wipes" before and after any changes, for a case...
6. Having "Play Store" app in the system, I was able to install several other Google apps: Calendar, GMail, Keep...
Result: I'm pretty happy to have my old Nexus One as a temporary replacement for my lost Galaxy S3. I'm even thinking of buying smaller (than Galaxy S3) phone next time
Performance is quite acceptable so far. Will report later on the experience...
The flight is normal
After two weeks of usage I would say that the new firmware is really usable in a simple "phone-email mode" and I'm happy with the move:
- The performance is mostly acceptable for these my everyday applications, which I installed: Dialer, GMail, Calendar, ColorDict, Pocket, AndStatus, Total Commander, Yandex Maps, Google Keep, Tasker, Volume locker ...
- No unexpected reboots so far. Sometimes I encountered freezes, but occasionally this occurs on my new Galaxy Tab Pro also, so I don't blame the firmware build here...
- I successfully upgraded to the newer nightly build, reflashing system + the same minimal Google apps.
Of course, old hardware cannot fully replace a new one , so:
- There was no memory to install Chrome, Dropbox and WhatsApp (I guess they require too much RAM...)
- "2048" game lags noticeably

Do you use memory tools like Mounts2SD or Link2SD? I use Opera, Dropbox, WhatsApp and many other apps with no problems on my N1 with KitKat :good:
Although Google Maps lags much more than the old version on Gingerbread but that's not the ROM's fault.

At first install of the rom, I tried Mounts2SD. The rom was slow and unstable. So I reinstalled the rom and used the builtin Apps2sd with y/y/n (apps and dalvik-cache mounted on sd-ext). Works fine as daily driver.
