I got my Sprint Galaxy Tab today, Rooted it without problems, started installing my apps. Love the device. But now i'm not sure whats going on. In little less than an hour i watched my internal storage go from 1.4 gb to less than 400 megs. Now i know i installed a few apps but i did not install a gb of stuff nor have i downloaded any media. I've tried searching the device for large files but i can't find anything that would be causing this. I've gone through all of the apps i've installed and most have cache and data of 0 bytes since i haven't really got a chance to use it. I have Advanced Task Killer, Memory Booster, and Cache Mate and none of them find anything to remove. I'm at a total lose right now. Anyone else seeing this?
Update 1: The only way to stop it is to restart the tab. I do not notice any one program that is running causing it.
Update 2: I'm down to 270megs i finally had to turn it off and back on again.
How did you root it? This is something that happens if rooted with the clockworkmod recovery script in this thread (I know this because it happened to myself and was a bugger to remove).

Thats exactly what i did. How did you get it removed? Did you have to unroot and wipe? At this point i dont care. Woke up this morning and i have 0 bytes free of internal storage.
UPDATE: It was Clockwork Mod causing the issue. I uninstalled it, wiped my device and all it better now. DO NOT USE CLOCKWORK RECOVERY.
As the title says, I cannot install apps while, in fact, I have 3gb free. I cannot install apps such as Titanium Backup, Jewels Star, and Browser for Skydrive. Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it? This has only started occurring today, and yes, I am rooted. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well I'm not exactly sure this is the issue or not, but for example, the Nexus 7 16 gb has like 13 gb free, but not all of that partition is available for applications. There is 2gb of allotted space for apps, and anything that exceeds that will have to be moved to a flash drive or an sd card in a USB adapter via an otg cable.
Go in Lucky Patcher and click on the three dots bottom right corner, than choose troubleshooting, choose the remove fixes and backup option.

got this problem after an OTA update for my alcatel ot 995. a really big thank you for your info.
I tried both the lucky patcher and titanium backup ways and still have insufficient storage :'((((
I have also this same error with Nexus 7 16GB. Can't update/install new apps, even like size of 1MB apps. I have 501MB available. I have already tried "Forever Gone" and "Lucky Patcher" fixes and wiped cache and dalvik cache. Any suggestions what to do?
Insufficient Storage Available
Got this error recently too on my GN 7, with 11 GBs of free space.
Situation: Went to play Angry Birds Star Wars Edition. Selextred the icon on my desktop but got an error message stating the game was not installed (after being there for several weeks). Checked my App Drawer and confirmed it was not there. Went to Google Play, hit download on the game, started to install and then got the dreaded error message: Insufficient Storage Available.
Steps Taken: Went into settings, Apps, cleared cache and data, removed large apps but nothing worked. Tried "Lucky Patcher" and "MarketFix", no luck (pun intended).
Solution (FYI Root access required):
1. Using ES File Explorer, navigated to /data/app and deleted Angry Birds Star Wars Edition .apk.
2. Using ES File Explorer, navigatd to /data/app-lib and deleted Angry Birds Star Wars Edition folder.
3. Back to Google Play, downloaded App and no error, problem solved!
My guess is that somehow the system no longer see's the app folder, even though its still there. So when you go to download it, or in other cases update it, Google Play does its thing and crashes when it encounters the files. Its not expecting to see them and then can't figure out what to do when it finds them. My uneducated guess is that the error message itself isn't reflective of the issue, just a generic error message (sounds like something Microsoft was good at ).
This worked for me, may not work for you. At a high level, I think you have to remove the offending application and re-install it. If its multiple apps, you may need to remove them all or perhaps something else is going on. Hope this helps, I was relieved when I got my the issue resolved.
While this article is from 2012, I'm experiencing a problem with my rooted Nexus 10 where certain apps will not update and the system throws the "insufficient storage available" error while I have 17.5gb of free space. The apps in question include (Lastpass, Netflix and Weatherbug). Other apps (Google Docs, Google Sheets and RootChecker) update just fine. I'm running the Paranoid Android ROM (version 4.43, released 07/15/2014). I queried the PA community but no reply. I also emailed support at Lastpass, but no answer as of yet. I'm holding off on updating the Nexus 5 to 4.43 until I figure out if the ROM update is causing this issue. I don't recall this problem appearing when 4.42 was running.

Thank you so much. I deleted the app and app-lib folders and my download completed.
I haven't checked to see if it fixed just that app, or all apps, because this seems to be an issue for all apps currently installed.
Either way, the one I needed to update, has done so, because of your advice.
Thank you.
I have had my A500 for nearly a year. The android version is 4.0.3., kernal version 2.6.39.4+
Although there is still 153 MB free space on the device, it failed to install even tiny apks and apps from market.
It just download the app first and display error: not enough space when it is supposed to start the installation.
I have deleted many apps and rebooted the device many times in the hope of fixing this problem, but problem persist.
Please help... What can I try
Thanks in advance.

Hey all.
I'm running 4.3 with it being unlocked and rooted using the program and steps created by Wugfresh.
I have about 26 gigs of free storage space on my tablet but anything I try to download from the Google Play store, I get an insufficient storage error.
It started when I tried using Lucky Patcher to remove some of the ads found in certain apps.
I can install apps just find if I use an .apk file.
Any help on this?

Try clearing cache and data from the play store and play services. Then reboot and see if it works. Maybe use ad block the next time

I'm getting this exact same error, but only on a few apps like Facebook, DropBox and IMO. All other apps install fine and I can install apps from the Amazon store.... weird.
I have tried to whole the play store data and cache, no go though.

I believe it's a Play Store 4.3 bug, my tablet worked fine with 4.2.2 and my S4 appeared those bugs as well when I updated, maybe you should try uninstalling Play Store updated and/or clearing its cache, I didn't try yet, but may give out something.

I experience something i think is related:
I've put my vacation movies and picutres on the tablet and I 've just 1,8 Gb of free space left on it. Everything runs good. I opened the play store to update some apps and then it started lagging hardly.... It0s not the first time happens to me. I've already went back to full stock one time formatting everything, but same problem.... I'm JWR66Y rooted with SuperSU. The first time i had this problem i cleared the Dalvik cache via CWM, but nothing changed.
If i can I try to clear the Play Store cache....
Any other ideas???

Same here. JWR66Y and SuperSU.
There was some option in Lucky Patcher and after I clicked on it, no more troubles.
I think it had something to do with clearing the overall cache or something.

Yeah, it's an app.
It will let you remove Google Ads from many installed programs.
Tried the cleaner, still no go for me. I've got about 1.8GBP free... still some new apps update fine while others fail. Sound like it's time to do a full Rom refresh install.

Ok, a full wipe and clean install worked. Prior to this I even removed 50% of my apps... and still no go. Something must have got screwy with a dirty update.
For anyone else that runs into this.
Try a cache cleaner, app cleaner, then uninstall large apps, if all else fails, do a factor reset (except external memory/aka SD) and you should be good to go.
Ran SD Maid system clean. It removed almost 100mb of data in lost directories, seemed like mostly log files. This fixed it for my wife and I (we have the same phones, i777). We couldn't update google apps before i tried this, all other apps updated just fine.
I've been wondering something.
Ive been a android fan for awhile, and previous phones have had less than desirable space left for apps. so ive always used link2sd with great effect.
What I am wondering now is (because I now have plenty internal storage on my s4) is, would I gain any performance boost by continuing to utilize link2sd for my apps?
Or would I benefit more by not bothering? Are there any benchmarks to support yay or nay?
My cards a class10 32g card... and I know the s4 supports ext4.

As far as performance goes by using link2sd... maybe a little during app loading, but not enough to notice. Are you rooted? The best app i have ever seen period for performance adjusting is Android Tuner. The paid version offers just about every possible tool to adjust every possible aspect of the rom. You should at least give it a glance. I boosted the crap out of my phone with that app alone.
Good benchmarking app is "AnTuTu"

Link2sd and similar apps are really only for adjusting storage space. Performance modding lies in Android Tuner and other like apps... AT is a beast of an app though. You can get the link2sd function through it and ramp up the cpu. Try freezing as much bloatware as you can and tune up your build.prop settings as a start to get better performance with the app

You should be OK as long as you freeze instead of uninstalling the system apps. Or at least make backups of them in case you need to get an OTA update. If you are missing system files then it makes getting upgrades a pain in the butt. I assume you have a custom recovery too? Everything is easily reversible that you do on AT. The only issue I ever had was when i tried to have certain CPU settings apply themselves with init.d without kernel support. All I had to do was flash the disabler in recovery that you can create in the app.
For good performance setting you can try this: set CPU gov to interactive, use most of the presets available for the build.prop menu, set a bigger I/O cache with "deadline" scheduler in the SD menu, set a more aggressive OOM preset, and increase entropy as high as you can. All of these while setting them to apply on boot. There is a lot to discover in that app so have fun and make backups!

I found something weird. I assume it's AT... but not really sure. I'm using Aviate Launcher, and what I noticed that after AT did it's "cleaning" some of the shortcuts to a few apps would dissappear... always the same apps (minecraft, xda, etc...)
Would you happen to know how I can prevent this? I had it set to clean and optimize all apps/databases and trim partitions.

It happens after the cleaning process? Right after boot complete? You can check to see if it is AT by disabling the boot scheduler in device manager, and then a few minutes after the phone boots up manually run the cleaning process to see if its happening when it does it.
Also, when i had shortcuts disappear on me it was because I had them moved to or from the device or ext sd card. Some apps need to be installed to internal storage for them to work right. You should never move any apps to the system storage that weren't already there. That's different from internal storage, which is the same as internal SD. The system partition is where the pre installed apps reside (and bloatware). If you can find the system app in the play store then you can most likely, safely, move it elsewhere. Try to change where the missing shortcut apps are stored. AT is zip-aligning apps when it does its optimizations to make them load faster and give you a more organized file system.

Yeah, happens right after boot process is complete. They just disappear from the Aviate Launcher collections areas. The apps themselves are still there... so it could be something in the Launcher doing it as well...

The link2sd is mainly for phones with a small system storage. Our phones have a decent reserve set aside for it. It shows that the system memory is almost full, but its because the os is stored there. Some phones with a small internal storage have problems downloading apps once it gets just about full, even if the internal sd has plenty of room and get the "not enough storage" notification. Link2sd helps solve that for those devices. Android started making the mistake of installing apps to internal when they should be installed to SD. Something that didn't happen in earlier versions of Android. If you need room on the internal sd I know a couple of tricks to free up a large amount of space. Especially if you have 2 ".thumbdata" files in the DCIM directory that can each hold up to 500mb or more of crap you don't need at all. You can tell if you have them if your file manager is set to show hidden files and just deleting them doesn't work as they rebuild themselves after boot... total waste of space!

Somesthing might be wrong with the google play services app. Or the google framework app. Can you restore all the google apps to their last working backups? Or the original versions if that dont work.

What firmware are you on? If you have everything backed up on Titanium to the external sd, and if you brick it just flash the same firmware or one newer then reroot. I went from MF3 to MK2 that way with no problem. And its easy to root and Safestrap. Just search "MK2 recovery from brick" and you will run into the link with all the tar files you need.
