Reboot problem getting annoying. First step? - EVO 4G General

My evo is starting to get really annoying with reboots. I want to go to sprint to get a replacement. I know I got to unroot, (I know this is not the problem), but what do I tell sprint in order to get a replacement? I've had the phone since July if that makes a difference. It's gotten so bad that I can barely stay in the browser for 5 minutes without a reboot. Or a game like mini squadron.
Any writing methods to perhaps fix this?
Any help is appreciated.

There is no fix for the power cycling problem. Sorry but you will have to get a replacement phone. Just go to your local corporate Sprint store and show them what it's doing and they will order you a warranty replacement. I had the same problem with my first EVO. This seems to be a fairly common issue on some of the early hardware version EVO's. flash the "s-on" tool from unrevoked.com website then run the stock ota 3.70 sprint rom from your computer to put your phone back to stock condition. GOOD LUCK.

Thanks man. Sounds like a plan, but the reboots are pretty random, gonna be hard to prove. Or do I just have to tell them? I'm still in warrantee after 7 months? Dang.
Thanks, its been a frustrating month.

If browsing 5min causes reboot just do some massively heavy browsing and hope it reboot.they can't really say oh well its not showing us any problems.

Alright, I guess that's all I can do. Will report back with hopeful success. Thanks everyone for the help.

Fixed mine yesterday by formatting my sdcard

Getting a new one after going to sprint today. They are back ordered so gotta stick with this one for a few more days. Thanks everyone!

Having trouble getting Windows to recognize your Evo?

So I traded in my Evo for my fourth one today. I went to root and adb would not recognize it. It would say device not found. So I used the ruu for the stock Rom and started it up. I did not run it completely. I just pulled it up while I ran adb. This fixed the issue and I was able to root without a problem. Just an FYI for those having a problem. I was using Windows 7.

Right +1 .............
The BB by my house has a ton. They have gotten 2 shipments since release. I guess they are lucky or they are just trying to get rid of 003's. I have not gotten 1 without an issue. Since I am coming up on my 30 days I am going to keep trading them in.

Why would they be trying to get rid of the 003 versions... as far as I know and from experience they are the ones that are perfect...
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Then I am the most unlucky Evo owner. I have had three of them all with screen issues. My understanding is that both the 002 and 003 have issues and the next shipment will have the problems worked out.

Shift is heating up after Permroot??

Is it just me or the shift getting extremly hot after permroot. I would be playing angry birds on it while charging and it warms up till the point it stops charging and it starts blinking red and green. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I tested mine out and can confirm that I don't have this issue after playing the game for 1 hour.
U might try re-setting the battery data in recovery?

why not go back to stock ruu and test it out quickly?
i think it's just a defective phone and not the root
Did you overclock it?

I think that might of done it. I'm charging while using the fm radio while browsing and no extreme heats so far. There always times I wish the xda app let me thank the members.
BTW I'm not overclocked or using a custom Rom. All stock besides permanent root and recovery

Sprint are being dildos of the highest caliber. I told them it overheats, and they changed the battery with a "new one". I opened the Shift to see it and guess what --it is and old scratched beat up battery. I showed it to the manager and his response was "We don't have any new batteries in stock, so we replace them with used ones". Can you believe it. I filed two complaints with fcc and bbb
If I don't hear anything from them I'll probably end up paying their restocking fee ($35) just before the 30 days, which is like pissing money away . I should have bought it from Best Buy. They throw in a free handset on top.

To all the awesome Fascinate Devs!

Just wanted to say thanks to all the devs for all the hard work and the fun you've givin me with customizing my fassy. I'm switching to the Incredible 2 because of the many issues I've had with the missed calls and bad signal. I was offered the phone brand new free of charge with an extended battery for 42$ and a month of free service. I know it may not be as much fun as the fassy because I don't believe its rooted just yet, but right now i need a phone that has the functionality of a phone. So again, thank you all for the awesome roms/themes/tweaks you've offered and I hope i'll be seeing you all again when the S2 comes out.

Wait wait wait. Did you use an upgrade to get the inc2 or they offered it? I'm getting tired of the missed call thing.

I believe brand new. i was kinda in shock so I didnt really care to ask but he said it has no battery or back cover so he hooked it up with the extended one for 10 bucks off. and as far as the 4g stuff, none of them interest me.
If it did have a battery or cover, it is refurbished. I was thinking of making the jump to the Dinc 2 as well. Am going to wait for some roms to come out first though.
Oh, and it has achieved S-off, but whoever figured out hasn't released how to to it yet.

wish me luck this weekend.

Got to bring the wife's epic into Sprint for a hardware issue. It appears the phone speaker isn't working. Thought it was Cm7 issue but flashed back to stock EL30 (btw thanks to who ever got that for us) with modem still no sound at all. Copied all her data off onto the computer formated the card then copied some stuff back like her pictures and music. Hopefully they won't give me a hard time I am paying for the extended. I am kind of hoping they will offer a upgrade to the touch.
Any suggestions would be grateful.
Good luck!
Gotta figure out the angle to take. Whether to pull a complete phone "What's root? Is that some kind of new Pokemon?" angle. Or the "Yeah I am alright with Android, I just hit a bump. Help me out?"
I usually play stupid. With the added nicety.
You should be fine on the service issue. Good luck on the upgrade attempt.

If it is the loudspeaker they have the ability to replace it in store if they have the part. Should only take around an hour maybe more if they are super busy.

Haven't used the insurance tep on this phone since I got it.(about 16months). I feel like I've wasted abunch a $$$. My phone has normal wear and tear. I want a new phone or else stop paying ins. I found a used epic in good shape for $125..

Our headset speaker broke. I bought another one on eBay, split the display, replaced the speaker and it still didn't work. Took it to sprint, paid $35 and they swapped the entire display /top slider. They said they don't split the display as the policy is to swap put the entire piece. Problems solved go us
Oh yeah, I also had no insurance and was well over a year onto ownership of the phone.

Stolen Phone help

I just got done rooting my phone and installing ICS nearly one week ago Samsung Fascinate, yesterday someone decided to steal it.
Already changed pass words but still a lot of stuff i need on that phone with no way of getting it.
Now looking at a new phone which Samsung would you guys recommend as i plan to root it and install ICS on the new one as i liked it a lot.
Thanks
Bummer bro. Sorry to hear that. I wonder if your provider could help you. Is there a replacement you can use until the sgs3 comes out this summer?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA
Nope, been left without a phone for last few days it sucks.
Looking at getting another Samsung something i can run ICS on again as i like that ROM.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

There isn't a Samsung Fascinate 4G for Verizon. That's probably the TELUS version. Which carrier are you using?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA
Im with Telus.
Also thinking about getting a Samsung S2X but hoping it can be rooted and similar rom installed like the ICS as everything worked with that.
for future reference check out prey, lookout, findmydroid, etc. these are all apps that can track your phone if it gets stolen, you just send the phone a key word in a text message or something and it will enable gps and give you coordinates and stuffs.

yeah that is one course of action, if you hadn't changed your google password then you could go on the play store website on your computer and download plan b and it will install itself on the phone and help you find it.
