[Q] Back button spazz out? - Fascinate General

Has anyone run across an issue where their back button seems to self-activate and get stuck "down"?
About 2-3 times a day I'll be using my phone and it just goes spastic. The only means to stop the back-spree is to press the back button to "reset it" to the non-pressed mode. It's seems to be happened more and more often, which makes me wonder if I need to warranty my phone.
I'm running Superclean Froyo (.8), but it was happening on Superclean Eclair as well.
Anyone have a similar issue?

I've had lagging buttons recently on DL30 but nothing that severe. I'd try a fresh download and re-installing and seeing if it fixes the issue.

[Q] Home and search softkeys stop working

I have a stock phone, updated with the OTA update. I have this problem where the Home and Search softkeys will stop working all of a sudden. When you press them, they seem to flash so I dont believe this is hardware. Also when I restart the phone, the problem goes away, at least for a little while. When this is happening, to get to the homescreen I basically have to use the back soft key to go all the way back. I thought that maybe this was due to some updates I did so I uninstalled NoLed and TaskSwitcher and I was fine for a few days but it just happened again. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks, this is my first Android.
If I were, I'd exchange the phone. Sounds like the sensor for those buttons is defective.

It's not the sensor as a reboot will immediately fix this issue. Some say that doing a reset will fix it. Thinking about trying that.

Wake up Response Delay

Running Superclean 2.4
Wake up delay only when im in a application and it goes to sleep after the 15 seconds and when I try to wake it up, pressing the power button it doesn't wake up until I press it twice and it wakes up in the lock screen. Anyone else having these issues?
I reverted back to EB01 stock and worked perfect and then went back to superclean with the same issues

Same here, I posted a thread about it about 4 or 5 below yours. Mine won't even wake up. Just shuts down essentially.
Same thing (as in the OP, not the first reply) happens to me as well (on SC 2.2).
Any suggestions adrynalyne?
I also have this annoying issue. I'm running stock EB01.
This happens to me after I use a messed up modem.bin.

So are you saying you had the same problem and fixed it by reflashing the modem file?
same as OP however it doesnt seem to bother me much, irritating at times yes but still functions.

Back button just became erratic!!! Help!

My capacitive back button is going crazy!!! I figured it was just the rom or a program running in the background. So I rebooted into recovery and it happened then too!!! Definitely a hardware issue. I didn't drop the phone and I wiped the screen clean. So I'm not sure what the problem is. Is there any way I can disable the back button completely and remap it to the Search button? I never use the Search button, so this would work for me. Please help!
I have had this happen to me, it would randomly act up. After two weeks or so, it just stopped happening.
I have seen reports on forums that some people have tightened the screws on the back of the phone and had luck with that fixing the problem.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Yeah happened to me too when I first rooted it, found out it wasn't the root that did it but an application that I put on there that was not compatible with the phone.
I had the same problem too -- I posted this a few days ago on another thread dealing with this problem. I'm not sure why it's happening but it many people think it's a software incompatibility issue. I did five hard resets and the problem went away. Most people who tried the hard resets only did it once, and the problem persists. It'll even persist in recovery. I think you need to do enough hard resets until the problem disappears. Mine now is glitch-free -- good luck.

Nexus S
Rooted Stock 2.3.1
T-mobile unlocked
Try installing the stock 2.3.4 just for trial. The new update fixed all my issues with the back button

I had this happened on a recently purchased nexus s. It was on 2.3 stock, and the back button just went crazy, the screen would flicker on and off, and no matter how many factory resets I performed, the problem was still there. I eventually returned it and the new nexus s has been problem free.

Your new nexus s are using latest version or not?
I have this issue sometimes too. Mine doesn't go crazy though, it just becomes unresponsive and dark. I have to wait a couple of seconds and then it comes back. Kinda of like the phone freezing while the damn button come back.

Swiftdroid's strange behaviour: waking after turning off.

Hi,
Since late RC versions of Swiftdroid I have observed that sometimes when I put phone to sleep (HANG UP button) it immediately wakes up, as if button was pressed twice. It doesn't happen every time and it's actually hard to predict when it would. *Maybe* it has something to do with that sometimes the phone is slow to wake up and I have to press the PICK UP button again. Maybe.
As I mentioned, I started to notice this behaviour quite recently. I'm using Swiftdroid since v2 M4 but those symptoms took my attention about RC3 or RC2.
Anyone else observed something like that?
me some times but after awhile its ok maybe you should make a clean install of the rom??
Usually I clean caches and stuff. But incidentally I'm about to make full-wipe reinstall. I'm just waiting until RC5 comes out.
Your button probably is pressed twice, because it's busted. Apparently the GT540 has some issues that show after some time. That's the reason I sent my phone to be repaired under warranty. I could be wrong, of course, but keep that in mind.
I don't rule out this possibility. Though at this moment I'm not too convinced. If the button were the problem, I'd expect it to happen in more consistent way. Here, it just happens only once in a while.
Bug
This happens to me too. It's some problem with the power button. It happened to me always.

[Q] Home button opens multitasking windows

By the way, dont tell i dont know to push a short push beause this is NOT the problem. I gave it to some friends and it happened to them too.
Your button is sticking. When you press it it does not come up fast enough.
Did you get any juice or sweat in the button ?

If it is trutly a physical defect with the home button your best but most annoying option is to take back the phone and have it changed with a new one.
Another thing to do is to do a factory reset (just in case there is a software bug causing the button to act this way)

This are my last options. I dont want to replace my phone neither to wipe it.
If you someone encounter this problem please help me.
Thanks
I have the same problem with my phone. Runing stock ROM.
The home button will trigger the task manager upon waking up the phone. This is driving me absolutly crazy. I hate lock screens and passwords just to get to the home screen.
Once the home screen is up this behavior stops.
I just tested the time it takes to hold the home button and launch the task manager alongside with my old Galaxy S2 and the latter needs a longer hold on the button.
The home button is not sticky, it has a normal feel and click.
Please help
Actually my problem i not at the waking up of the phone but in the home screen or in any app.
HELP
Just made an account because I'm having the exact same issue and was wondering if you were able to fix it at all because this happened to my phone very suddenly so I'm wondering if it's a software issue.. Please reply.
One thing I noticed is that this never happens when I'm on the home screen, only when have an app open. Also, it doesn't feel like the button is sticking by any means. My phone is a week old..

I'm having this same issue. When I'm at the home screen it doesn't "stick", but only when I'm in an application. What's up with this behavior? It's a recent development. Could this be a software issue? I have a Verizon S4 and it hasn't had a software update at all yet.
Any solutions, or maybe there's an app we all have that is causing this?
UPDATE
I've made this happen on the home screen, usually by pressing near the middle of the home button, however this only starts happening after the phone has been on for a while. I'm so confused as to whether this is a hardware or software issue, or maybe a combination of both.

The home button problem was gone for a while, but a week ago, it came back and I decided to call T-Mobile. They immediately said it was a software issue and recommended me to do a factory reset. So I did and it seems to be working perfect now, haven't had the home button sticking or giving any problems for about a week now.you should definitely give that a try.hope it helps.
hey guys.
I switched some ROMs after that and it solved the problem. I can only assume it is a software bug.
try upgrading to the newest version(I use 4.3)
Hope you will all solve it as i did.
