Hi, So I followed directions on getting WP7 onto my HD2, namely the HSPL3, the 2.15 radio, the MAGLDR 1.13, and no matter which WP7 ROM I install via MAGLDR's USB Flasher, It always doesn't boot after a successful install(by successful I mean it says reset!...on the screen and "finished" on the computer). My boot screen looks like
LOADING WPH
WPH LOAD
123456
GO GO GO!
Then it goes back to the tmobile "stick together" screen and then back to the LOADING screen and repeat that
If I interrupt it with MAGLDR and pick Boot WPH, I will get the screen that says
WPH LOAD
123456
GO GO GO!
and that leads to the reboot circle too
I tried reinstalling HSPL3, MAGLDR, Radio, WP7 roms, and none of that solves the not-boot problem.
Interestingly, all the NAND-based Android Roms work decently on my HD2, except the occasional freezing problems.
Please help, I really want WP7 on my phone T_T. Thank you.
PS: I tried installing with and without my Sandisk 16GB Class 2 sd card, and also tried booting with and without it. None of those worked. When I did install WP& with the sd card in the phone, I always format it to FAT32 beforehand.
same here.........
I have the same Issue, WP7 installs fine, but wont boot, gets to the GOGOGO! text and then reboots, Ive installed WP7 in the past, (DFT first release) so I know it works, but any rom I try now does the same,(Reboots after GOGOGO!) I currently have Andriod installed, (MAGLDR 113) but would love to try and make the move over for good.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this issue?
Thanks.
PS: I have the original 2GB Sandisk SD card, (worked on this in the past) and a Kingstone 8GB SD card currently onboard my HD2.
I used the files downloaded from this YouTube Video Tutorial
Worked 100% for me...
Maybe try fully reinstalling a 6.5 rom then starting from scratch?
Me too.....
Same problem
sometime it boot with vibration??
I mean non-stop vibration
I try with my Samsung 16GB Class 2 and Kingston 8GB Class 4 but nothing different
Tonight, I will try with Sandisk 8GB Class 4!
Well just flash any WM 6.5 ROM & then flash MAGLDR & then any WP7 ROM
Just do a task 29, then start over with fresh install of magldr and WP7.
If you still have issues its more then likley your SD card not been compatible or having some issues. WP7 is really picky about cards.

There is no need to install WM just so you can install WP7. Besides, doing this will further corrupt and future flashes.
Task29 first to complete erase all traces of previous ROM's and then MAGLDR, the WP7. Of course, it could be your SD card, as stated all over the WP7 for HD2 forum. WP7 is apparently very finicky about having a compatible SD card for its use. I would recommend at least a Class 4, but Class 6 cards may provide WP7 the speed it needs to function.

Err...wrong.
There is a very good reason to reinstall WM to get WP7 on it, if the SPL is buggered flashing to a STOCK original ROM will bring the device back to its native state, then working forward from there will ensure that youve covered all your bases, the task29 business is not going to fix SPL issues.
yes you could use a new version of HSPL but from experience starting from scratch can be the best way, radio, ROM, SPL all stock, the work forward.
I try with flasing back to WM 6.5 original and then install MLDGR via bootloader and final is install WP7. They cannot boot and sometime they boot with non stop vibration
and also I try by do Task29 and install MLDGR and final is WP7. I found as the same problem like above
I try with my 3 sd cards
one is 16gb class 2 Samsung
two is 8gb class 4 Kingstons
three is 8gb class 4 Sandisk
How can i do to install for WP7??
Stock WM6.5
Then
HSPL
Radio
if you must, task29
MAGLDR
WP7 remember to put the SD card in first and once its finished flashing i unplug it too!

I have exactly the same problems! -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133664
Nothing works. Tried also Task 2a, Task 28, Task 29, installing WM 6.5...
The problem is not related to sd card, after go go go the device ist still restarting. After taking out the battery for 5 Minutes WP7 is starting, but if i restart the device, the booting loop continous...
Any suggestions?
I had these issue with my previous SD card.
I was using a sandisk 16 gb class 4. It booted first time, but then the more you install etc, the more unstable the card became, and every now and then, it would do this.
So, i FIRMLY believe that this is an SD card issue, i think, you should buy a new one, preferably not a massive 16 gb one, although i cant really give recommendations for the obvious reason.
Buy a new one, re-flash your phone with it in. DONT format it on your computer first, just leave it how it is, delete any software off it and put it in your phone.
Thank you for your answer,
the problem ist definitivly not related to SD Card. Because the rebooting issue after the magldr go go go happens also without a SD Card. I have also tried 5 other SD Cards:
Sandisk 16 GB Class4
Sandisk 16 GB Class2
Sandisk 8 GB Class2
Sandisk 4 GB Class2
Sandisk 2 GB Class 2
same problem.
Tried also the method which you explain in your post.... nada!
Installing and booting Android or WM 6.5 works perfect! Only after installing WP7 this problem happens, no matter which rom i use.
Tried also many radio roms,
Reinstalled OSPL and HSPL again.
Wiping device by Task 2a, Task28 or Task29....
It´s really strange!
I don't know if this would help, but I always format my SD card with my old nokia phone before I start the flashing process (Task 29 - Radio - MAGLDR - flash)

it could still be the SD card, just because someone has tried 20 odd cards that didnt work doesnt mean that it must be something else
in saying that it should install without the SD card which would support your argument that the SD card isnt 100% at fault
did you try going back to a stock ROM, flashing via SD card and not via USB?

Yes installing WP7 without sd card does also not solve the problem.
Had also installed 2 different Stock Roms (3.14 and 1.72) via sd card -> nothing!

Hi
I have searched around the forum without any luck on how to remove the windows phone 7 from my uncle's HD2. How can reflash it to the stock rom, which windows 6.5 because activating 7 on the phone is a bit hard and i m not really getting how to do. So I'll just get it back to stock rom and wait for some thing more stable and easier.
Please help me, my uncle's contacts are on this phone, and he cant get it back to normal.
if u didnt backup the phone contacts i guess they are gone because after a flash everything gets lost...u can flash back the stock winmo rom...hold volume down button and start the phone wait till u see the three colored screen...plug in pc till u see usb writing instead of serial...then start flash stock rom from pc...but nothing from ur data will be there anymore...so if u still have the contacts on phone make a backup before u flash
Man. You have two ways.. even to flash nand android or returning back to wm6.5 to return to wm 6.5 u first turn off ur fone, press volume down and power botton to go to the multi color screen .. and then flash ur favorate wm 6.5 rom.. and sorry to tell u that the contacts are alreqdy rlearased if they were on wm 6,5 ..
You can reflash Windows Mobile 6.5 by holding down the volume- button as you power on the phone. Then just flash a stock ROM through the bootloader like normal.
As for his contacts being on the phone, if they were in Windows Phone 7 you can back them up using a Gmail account, and if they were on Windows Mobile 6.5, then I'm sad to say that they have been erased.
htc hd2 does not show sd card
Thanks guys i have revereted back to win 6.5 on my htc hd2 but i have problem with sd card my phone dose not show any card is installed
You have to format the SD card.
I don't know if you can do it in WinMo (probably you can)
Otherwise you'll have to do it on your pc.

I formatted the SD card back to FAT32 in a digital camera.
You can-
You can format the SD card on Win Mo 6.5
Go to tools/format SD card.
Format it to whatever you need.
depends whether Wm6.5 can recognize this "formatted" partition created by WM7
if unable to, you probably need some tools or software
or use a digital camera or for me, SD card reader etc

You can use Android. It works!
Go online and google "free partition manager".
Or look around the various threads, theres links to partition and formatting software in the wp7 threads because of this exact reason...
Cheers...
To get your micro sd card formatted back to its original size just use the tool on *THIS* website and when formatting go into the options and change FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT to 'ON' so it detects the hidden partition.
Mark.
To format SD cards
Normally i just flash clock work mod recovery, and do a format from there, its pretty easy and i can set up my SD card for Ext2 while at it
hi, I assume when we flash stock rom during bootloader "usb" after we installed wp7, things like hspl, magldr , radio will be removed as well.
is there anyway that we can keep wp7 , and leave android sd build in another sd card ? So when we want to build android, we simply just swap the wp7 sd card with the android build sd card. is there anything we need to do to achieve this ?

If you flash a stock WM6.5 rom via bootloader usb mode then the only thing that is lost is Magldr and your previous rom. HardSPL and your Radio can only be overwritten by flashing a stock WM6.5 rom via microsd card method.
When you are using WP7 you CAN NOT hotswap microsd cards or your new card and the previous card you took out will not be recognized by WP7 anymore. I have seen some posts of people saying you can load Android via sd card while using WP7 but I have not done this and cannot verify its validity.

More trouble...
I went back to 6.5 ...And my phone reports only 180 Mb of memory instead 512 !!! I tried task29, flashing Stock rom, Custom roms, everything... And it still not going over 200MB of total memory, I can feel the phone lagging!
So, f this SD-card formatting issue, what about the more serious problem of downsizing HD2's memory in half after WP7!!!
Anyone, please HEEEELP!!!

Is that internal memory, storage memory? What is it giving for total, used and free?
Can you take a screenshot and post it?
If your phone only registered a total of 180Mb then its very doubtful that the stock rom would have flashed so im sure the memory is still there.. A screenshot of your memory screen would be very useful.

i see. thanks for ur advice. just curious , when we install our wp7, is our wm6.5 still in phone ? cos my energy start up screen is still there . or did i missed one step in front to do a task 29 ?
if i want to go back to my sd android and wm6.5, the step is just flash a wm6.5 (ex: energy rom) rom over right ? or i have to do a task 29 first ?

mskip, here is what WM 6.5 reports after I:
- removed the SD card (formatted by WP7, did use the sdformatter tool to revert back to fat32, thank for that tip which you posted on some other thread
- went into bootloader
- did the task29
- flashed the 3.14 stock rom (comes with .51 radio)
DEVICE:
Total storage : 180.98 MB
Used storage: 53.71 MB
Free storage: 127.27
Total program: 336.93 MB
Used program: 136.41 MB
Free program 200.53 MB
I tried some other ROMs, like CleanEx Core V12 which report more memory, but not as nearly as they should (its a 576 mb rom and I flashed a 50.14 radio before the ROM) and it looks like this:
DEVICE:
Total storage: 283.95 MB
Used storage: 16.36 MB ?!??!
Free storage: 267.58 MB
Total program: 474.00 MB
Used program 275.59 MB
Free program 198.24
Greetings to whoever is reading this!
I am not a big poster but.. i really can't find a solution for this one.
I searched around the forums but i was not able to find something quite like it, maybe i overlooked something but anyway, here goes:
I recently got myself a 16GB class 6 Silicon Power microSD card. The problem i am having with this card is that whenever i try to boot into Android either from NAND or SD something rather bad happens. With NAND the boot is successful, however, after the phone is fully booted it starts to lag and is having trouble resuming from sleep (either takes an eternity to conjure up the lock screen or simply stays black) and so on.
On SD builds the story is a tad different (i've tried both MAGLDR and WinMo). On some builds Leo manages to boot initially and everything seems to work, no lag and so on, however, when i do one, in some cases more restart(s) then the phone ends up in a boot loop.
I have tried all the same ROMs with the same settings on other memory cards: a class 6 8GB and various 2gb cards with no problems.
Another fact that might be interesting is that the card has no problems working with WinMo 6.5 nor WP 7. Both boot and work fine even after several restarts. Also, i tried the card in my camera and it did not have any problems either.
So far i have tried:
Formatting the card
- using Windows (tried all possible cluster sizes and so on)
- using SD Formatter 3 (both quick and normal format)
- using EASEUS Partition manager
- using WinMo 6.5
- using Android
- i think i also tried something in CWM but don't remember exactly what i did.
Cloned my 8GB SD to the 16 GB card making it look as if it was 8GBs and had it's properties using EASEUS Partition Manager.
and also tied flashing a couple of different Radios but i don't think they had an effect...
I'm running Leo 512
HSPL 2.08
Radio: 2.14.50.04
Well, i think i mentioned everything.. if anyone has any advice, please post
If i remember anything else i'll edit
Thanks in advance!
So I used to use NAND android then I figured out I had bad blocks on my HD2 so I flashed back to windows mobile and started using SD android. I get a lot of freezing issues and many times my phone won't wake up (on SD android). So my question is do bad blocks affect SD android? Which version of SD android is most stable in your opinion because 2 I tried froze a lot. Thanks!!
are you sure the bad blocks on the phone not on the SD card?
I would do a task29 on the phone from bootloader usb screen and then dl Partition Wizard 7, install it, put the microsd into a use adapter, plug it into the computer, open PW7, delete all partitions on the card, create a new one in the space of the blank card (FAT32 SYSTEM, leaving 1024MB of space for a second partition (EXT3-4: "SD-EXT CACHE"), if your NAND ROM calls for it. Safely eject the usb-sd, take it out and mount it in the phone again, then proceed with flashing clk, magldr, CLMrecovery, or flash stock ROM from TMOUS. If that doesn't work, there's no easy fix> Partition Wizard seems to bail me out with most SDcard issues. Good luck!
Hey guys,
I have kind of a bad time figuring out what the requirements for Windows Phone 7 are. I checked my SD card (Kingston 4GB Class 4) - Seems to be working.
I read sth. about WP7 encrypted SD Cards. Does that mean that I have to unlock them somehow after they are formatted for Windows Phone?
Now I'm wondering which rom I should install. I would go for Tango, but I'm wondering if the experience is the best, since it's not released yet. So which Rom is the most reliable? (Mango or Tango)
And how should I partition the NAND? Can I use the NAND toolkit for that?
Besides activating the rom, do I have to mind anything else?
Do I always have to update via a Windows machine?
Thanks in advance!
PS: Right now I'm on Android with clk installed.
Any "compatible" SD card is fine with WP7 ut it is recommended to use 8gig or even 16gig card since most of the apps are a it huge. WP7 installs on NAND so what ever you need from there make a backup/ copy of it.
if your phone has HSPL 2.08 just press the Vol Down & Power & you will see a tri-color screen with HSPL 2.08
this is what I did to install Tango
- HSPL 2.08
- Task 29
- Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14
- MagLDR
- MagLDR Repartition 300/ 45
- Magldr
- Service
- Clear SD MBR
- uselast24NAND
- USB Flaser
- Flash WP
- Done!
if still the error persist try replacing the SD card coz mine had a problem with Trancend's 16gig card.

I use HD2Owner Tango Build. It's rock stable and fast. Android can't beat it. Advantages bsides speed and simplicity are excllent camera and 720p video recording. Battery life is pretty decent, too.
Installation is different to Android NAND. All you have to do is HardSPL you phon, install proper Radio and Task29 before installation. When you finished HD2Owner Rom download (see my signature), there'll be a DWI.exe which need to be run while your HD2 is connected through 4. USB Flasher
But everyone tell as about something other.. once you need to click Services > uset last NAND and sth. about SD... next doesn't tells it.
How long can take first boot with 16GB card? I installed Tiger.. go sleep and mornign nothing change (about 6h of "loading system"). Now I fight with that whole day and nothing... Android is simple like 2+2, but WP7 is more complicated.. Once it says "you have wrong SD" other time it doesn't start. It's fak up to my brain...
I've Euro Leo 512MB and Kingston 16GB mSDHC cl4! and I looked into topic about SD cards and other posted about this card in positive.
I did every tutorial from this forum.. noone works for me
My neighbor bought Samsung Omnia W and I want to test this WP7, he is incredibely happy about OS
#EDIT
OK, I install [email protected]'s rom and after 25 minutes od loading system I turn off phone by remove battery and I checked SD card.. nothing changed.. 1 partition fAT32 with my files. But tutorials write about 2 partitions.. 200MB FAT and rest of unidentified to RAID. How to prepare that? Maybe that's the problem.. it's too big card for first run?
The size of your card isn't a problem. When you read in tutorials about 200MB partition and RAID partition, the OS takes care of this, you do nothing.
HD2Owners ROM is a very good place to start with WP7.5 on HD2.
Peace
Edit: ROM installation shouldn't take more than 5 minutes, regardless of microsd card size, once preliminary steps are taken =)
So I do something wrong.. why everyone can have WP7 but not me? You know how many times I do today Wipe Task29? Bllion? more or less
Flashing partitions one by one, flash good radio, flash aMAGLDR 1.13... I think I do everything ok but it's not.
OK, try to install next thousand of times...
#EDIT
LOL by mistake I install without SD card and install correct but one problem.. when I put SD card into phone, it kaboom, have bootloop.
I think the bootloop is because you installed without the sd card.
Reinstall using option 5 in magldr with the sd card in place and it should be good.
Peace
OK I did it, but "Storage card not working", can I set partitions on other device such as PC with gParted? Any idea to which code of partition have this second part of SD? I'm bored of that
I must admit, the partitioning of the SD card by windows can present a serious flaw to rom installation, especially when things don't go according to plan and you end up with an unrecognised SD card.
Do you have a spare one you could use?
Honestly, this would be easiest way....
Peace
---------- Post added at 05:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ----------
Is your SD card recognised if plugged into a pc? If so then reformatting is the way forward, then you should be able to use it again. Activekilldisc or gparted, any of those should do it - as long as it is "seen" by the pc.
Peace
Today I kamed new allocation table (MBR too) and make partition whole disk primary fat32, format it in Nokia E71 (like in one of topics like) and phone can't reformat it now to 2 partitions (200MB fat + rest unidentified). I dont know why.
OK I give up, thanx for any help. I back to Android.
Hi all,
My HD2 does not boot any more, and attempts to somehow boot into WM 6.5 and get my data failed. So, I want to erase everthing from the phone, and try a WP 7 rom.
My phone does not boot (it reboots endlesly - sometimes I see the WM 6.5 logo).
If I press the volume down, I get a 4 colour screen that says:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-3.03.HSPL XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x30
I thought a good idea to reflash WM6.5 (the official ROM), but the HTC site has drop any support for the device. So, I don't have the official ROM...
I tried to find some info in the sticky threads, but I am confused, and I don't know how to proceed. Can somebody give any hints?
I found a ROM in my laptop (which must have been an original for my HD2), and I extracted RUU_Signed.nbh, copied it toan SD card, and re-installed WM 6.5.
Now the phone boots. It reports radio 2.06.51.07.
Now, the 4-colour screen shows SPL-1.42.000.
I have made some progress...
you make backwards not forward...
only HSPL 2.08 work for WP7.... not 3.03
and try read install tutorial from link in my signature
Well, I made some progress into a booting phone, at least.
I had installed SPL 2.08, but after that all other installs failed (both through USB & SD card). It took me a while to find out that I need the one ending in HSPL, and not the one ending in zeros.
Your tutorial is very good, I have installed MAGLDR, and now I am downloading the ROM (it will take a few hours)...
Thank you very much for your help...
I followed the instructions, and installed the ROM. When it boots, I see MAGLDR loading, is prints out some numbers, then writes Go, Go, GO, I get an htc logo on a black screen, and the phone stays there for ever.
What may be wrong?
Reading the thread, I saw members asking about their SD card. Is it important?
I have used a small (4GB) one.
Ahh.. didnt mean to thank lol...
Anyways, sd card speed is important because the Windows Phone OS uses the SD card as raid along with the internal memory. So it technically combines internal with external memory to have a working OS since it was built around that subject. Because of this, it would constantly read-write to the sd card and internal memory (but more on the SD card for memory space IMO).

Thanks for your help. Actually, trying the rom here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236027
worked. Perhaps the rom I tried was not suitable for my card...
this (Yuki BTTF) ROM lock card.... you must unlock card first before flash other ROM
Further to what has been mentioned so far, you might want to use a microSD card with decent random read/write speeds (at least 1 MB/s write speed for 512Kb chunks). You can test your microSD card using software such as CrystalDiskMark or Atto Disk Benchmark).
Some microSD cards are proven to work flawlessly (I use a Sandisk 32 GB class 4 card, P/N: SDSDQM-032G-B35).
I hope this helps you out.
To say the truth, it is not an easy task (and I can only imagine the problems the ROM creators face).
I had a class 4 sandisk 4 GB to test. Initially, I tried the "03.April 25 Lang HD2 Pdaimatejam Rom Wp7.5 Tango 7.10.8773.98 v7.9" ROM, but it never got passed through its booting screen, with the HTC logo on the black screen.
After many retries, I tried to use another ROM, and I found "XBmod-Yuki". This worked just fine with my SD card, but Zune did only a small update, very different from the versions mentioned as upgrade path.
The update scripts didn't work either, so it was "stuck" to WP7, and I wanted to try Mango.
So, I returned back to Pdaimatejam, to get a surprise: it booted, and told me that the sd card is either from another WP7 phone, or absent. The SD card didn't work anywhere!
Many hours of searching led to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17306984&postcount=3, which is very difficult to achieve:
the tools didn't work with the zune version of my PC, and when I managed to install the cab, the phone with the SD unlocking tool froze after a few seconds in WP7, so getting it to work and unlock the SD card, was a shere luck.
So, having retrieved my SD card back (it now works in my laptop), I searched the forum for suggested sd cards, and I bought a transcend 8GB class 10, to try again with Pdaimatejam, which does not seem to lock the SD card.
But I haven't been lucky, I get the same behaviour from Pdaimatejam (stuck in the HTC logo) also with the new card. And I am out of SD cards to try...
Actually, I am thinking in buying a Lumia 900, but I know nothing about WP7. I like very much their GUI visually, but I don't know if they work well (and everybody seems to suggest to not buy it). I thought it would be easy to "test" them in an HD2 I had arround, to see what WP7 offer, especially with offline GPS navigation. But is not that easy after all...

I don't know why, but following your suggestion (install WM 6.5 - I used official from HTC in SD card), and install again everything, but avoid task29, worked.
Thanks.
You can update either through the zune software or the cab sender. Did you try the latter method? You can find the appropriate thread over here:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1250869
You can fetch the cabs from XBMod's FTP repository, specifically here:
xboxmod.sylvester20007.com/CABS/OSBUILD.CAB/
Would you have an issue with the SD card, I'd advise you to have a look at the text file located within the CABS folder.
So far, I've had a great experience with itself. It's great stability wise, and gets you the job done smoothly. Of course, the marketplace is a different story: it still lacks a few key apps, in some categories, such as GPS navigation software. (of course, you can already fetch navigon, turn by turn or garmin from the marketplace, but still, none of them has maps covering my current location).
As for deciding whether or not to buy a second generation windows phone, such as the recently released Lumia 900, it's all up to you to decide based on your experience with the OS, although I'd be more inclined to wait for a proper confirmation from Microsoft or Nokia, that WP 8 will be dispatched to currently available 1st and 2nd generation windowsphone devices.
In any case, try updating your XBmod-Yuki BTTF rom using the cab sender, and hopefully it works this time.
