Interested to see if this is possible, Simply because MAGDLR 1.12 has the SD Android boot option BUT NAND flashing of WP7 rom does something ? to the SD card, pretty much leaving the SD card useless unless formatted back to Winmo/Android, BUT the second catch is, if the card is formatted back AFTER WP7 flash, WP7 on HD2, then WP7 doesn't work properly ... A catch 22. Anyway around this, or maybe something I'm missing ?

I got both of them dual booting and working great so far...
1) Do an AD hard reset from MAGLDR boot menu
2) Flash windows nand rom (dont boot)
3)Boot into MAGLDR and connect as USB mass storage
4)Format SD card
5)Put an SD android build onto sd card
6)Go into services, bootsettings, set sd dir to android folder
7)I personally set it to show menu on boot so I could choose which one to boot
7)Reboot in MAGLDR and choose boot ad sd
8) Setup android
9) Reboot and choose WPH
10) setup WP7

What about using the SD card still? How much storage do you have when you boot into Android?
EDIT: I tried but when it boots into Android, the whole build is frozen

Correct me if I am wrong, but this leaves only internal storage for WP7. I have a telstra t9193 with 512 or so mb internal. Once it is synced with my exchange and emails, I can't even load a song from zune on my hd2 as there is no space left.
Guess the tmobile hd2 has more space left for apps etc.
I am trying to find a way to resize the wp7 sd card partition but this does not seem easy.
I need a dual partition for my sd card. One for wp7 and one for Android. Unfortunately wp7 seems to take all the sd card except for 200 mb which is too small for an android build.
If anyone has a solution, I would appreciate.

I attempted those steps and and soon as you setup WP7, the Android folder is all gone.
You have 200mb space which isn't space for a proper Android build. Maybe if we find a hack to increase this size to at least 1 gig then we should be able to do it.

That's what I got too. I even tried putting separate partitions on the sd card (ie. linux swap) to try to fool wp7 into deleting only the fat 32 one but it also did not work.
I have resulted to using 2 sd cards, one for wp7 and one for android. I have to make a holster for them so that I may swap them at will
EDIT: THE CURRENT SD ANDROID BUILDS DO NOT YET WORK WITH WP7 ON NAND - THEY LOAD BUT FREEZE AFTER THE LOCK SCREEN AND ALL YOU GET IS THE WHITE HTC SCREEN.

Yeah only nand compatible sd card builds are work with magldr, the only problem is I dont think there are any...

What works well for holding an extra sd card is to cut a microsd sized piece of foam out of the middle of the foam on the inside of the back cover. If you cut it right so it kinda hugs the sides of of the microsd, it will hold it in place well so you don't have to worry about it falling out when you take the back off.

It pretty much says never use the sd card with wp7 in the first place, however then it can never be used giving very little storage. Also I don't believe that there are any magldr compatible sd builds on xda, though I could be wrong...
Im booting up WP7 without the need for SD card.. Everythings seems working like normal..
And no partition on my SD card.. (My SD card is still clean but still can run..)
Uhh.... Is this normal....? Does this mean I can just copy DL's 2.2 SD Android onto my SD card?

how come it says that we need an sd card to run WP7 but you guys says ur running it on the same device with no problems without one. If that was the case then whats with all the insturctions on partitions and things. Also how do you run a Android sd rom from MAGLDR so that I canrun Android on my sd and WP7 On NAND. Thanks

For those who happened to read this post , maybe this could be ur solution?
I personally have tried it with 2 sd cards, It worked flawlessly. I might be getting a 16gb to combine 2 os in 1 card later on. But for now, this methods works best for me.

Guys Iam dual booting wp7(nand) and mdj desirehd 4.6 (SD) with a 16 gb class 4 card.....8 gb for each partition. Go to android SD development section and read the stickies. It sounds difficult but is very simple. Enjoy

Flashed some day´s ago WP7 but I reverted to WINMO again... and when I try to put an Android Built on it won´t boot...
I get a cmd lines, kernel something and it get the HTC screen and it get stuck in it... Tryied lot´s of diferent sd builds but the result is the same.
I already formated my sd, tried in other WINMO rom´s and other sd and the result is the same!

You said you formatted your SD card, but did you repartition it? When WP7 is installed it consumes all but 200 MB of your SD card so if you try to reformat it, you will only have 200 MB free unless you repartition it.
Did you say you tried other SD cards? Also, are you running Android from the SD card via Haret from Windows Mobile? Or, are you running a NAND Android ROM?

1- Sure i repartitioned it at full size... wipe de partition, and format a new primary partition in fat32.

Try Task 29 via bootloader, flash stock HTC ROM, Reformat SD card on PC and then again on WinMo. Transfer files while in WinMo on SD card or via SDcard adapter, and try booting Android again.
Did you by any chance transfer files on SD card while in Magldr if so the files may be corrupted (known issue) which may explain the problem with kernel not booting up.

Sorry for hijacking but nobody will reply in my thread and I'm becoming impatient lol. Can anybody help me?
Hey guys. I'm currently running this ROM, I've been using it for a few days and have had no problems but today, when I turned the phone off and turned it back on, it took ages to turn back on. Then when it did it all looked them same but was kept freezing etc., then up in the notification bar it said "SD Card Removed Unexpectedly" then my phone went crazy with FC's.
So I took out the battery and restarted the phone. Then, it would turn on and go to the lock screen but then it would reboot and be at a continuius* boot loop of the HTC 'Quietly Brilliant' screen.
So then I took out the battery again, this time I took out the SD card too and booted up and my phone was normal again. Obviously with no phone storage though as there was SD card in. Then after I just skipped the setup I put my SD card back in to my phone and went to the music player and all my saved songs on my SD card played. But no internal storage (I have the SD card partitioned with a 1GB Ext3 partition). Then with the SD card in knowing it still works I rebooted again, only to come back to the HTC screen again.
So basically, how can I fix this?
If I'm going to need to format my SD card is there a way I can backup what's in the Ext3 partition?

Task 29 + radio 2.15 -> original htc 1.66 rom -> task 29 + radio 2.15 -> duttys 14
My Android simply won´t boot...
Tryed on other sd card the problem is the same...

lrbpereira - I'm the guy that posted having the same results as you in your other thread (this one seems to be getting all the action, though). Just curious, which ROM are you trying? I've been trying Warrenbread's, but I'm thinking about trying another just to give it a shot.

Hi, i´m on Dutty´s 14 PTG. I tryed Energy and the result was the same...
I think it´s someting that WP7 installed on the phone memory... Don´t know why task29 don´t resolve it... But I can´t put the Android SD working...
And it´s seams that this is a problem that isn´t only mine... you - koz - have it too...

Sorry, I should have been a bit more clear - I was curious what Android ROM you were trying to run from SD. Have you found a solution to this yet? Did you try flashing back to a stock ROM, then HSPL & then try an android rom from SD? I'm considering giving this a shot, but I haven't had the time lately.
EDIT: I resolved my issue by reformatting the SD again (I've done it multiple times & multiple ways). This way worked for me. First, back up everything you want to keep from your SD card onto your PC. Download this & install on your PC: http://download.cnet.com/Partition-...62200.html?part=dl-6285158&subj=dl&tag=button . With SD card in the phone, connect to the PC in USB mass storage mode. Start Partion Wizard and format the card to FAT32 at 32kb and as a primary drive. After that, drag-n-drop your flavor of Android onto your SD and boot it up. Hope it works for you.
EDIT 2: After getting android running, I reinstalled all my files/folders back onto the SD card, however, this broke android again (I couldn't get it to boot from SD). So I tried turning it into airplane mode while running windows mobile - and it worked. I can now boot to android from SD as long as I first turn on airplane mode. So, I don't know if the above reformatting was part of it. If someone gives this a try, it might be good to turn on airplane mode and try to boot before attempting the above formatting info. Please post results if you try it and I'll try to edit the above.

last time i came in here unhappy with my stock HD2 on tmobUK android was just emerging on SD, now i came in here the other day WP7 is available as NAND and so is android....things seem to be a little confusing now, quite a few of these great ROMS are from people whos first language is not english so its quite hard to sometimes understand what they are explaining so i would be greatful if someone could answer somes questions, i have tried to read threads as best i can but some of them, well most actually are well into the hundreds within hours.
1) A lot of chefs describe NAND and SD, i know the difference between the two, but then they get mixed with magldr and NAND with ext4 etc etc..basically i want to flash the phones software to my NAND, i am assuming this is the best way to have it running at its optimum ?..so if i do this why would i need ext4 partions on the SD as well ? whats the benefit of it ?
2) i have also noticed that you can scan a barcode and have a link download a new rom to your phone and flash it, could i do this with ANY rom straight over the top of another without question ? and everything will be as it should be.
3) Does each ROM need to be set up in a different way?, this partly answers the previous question.
4) i flashed WP7 to my NAND (i think)..i was not happy with it and i had magldr installed, i just formatted my SD card to fat32 popped it back in and followed instructions to put [Feb 01][DL DesireZ v3.4][DL Data2SD/Ext4 v2.6][Nand/SD/MAGLAR] on to it.... it took me into magldr and told me to do a few things...did this flash to my NAND ? and did it do what was needed to the SD card regarding format or was it up to me to make certain changes to the SD card myself ?..the phone works and i can make calls, but all the apps that are stated to be in the ROM are not there, i cant find any GPS stuff and when i go to market place itsays its downloading an app but i can never see it.
As you can see i really am quite discombobulated with all this...i would love a easy reading guide that explains everything from A-B and all the terminolgy.

1. Many of these Android roms would swamp the entire memory of the EU HD2, so a workaround is to have partitions on the sd cards to store apps and data, leaving the system to run on NAND. When you update your rom, you just flash the system files and all app and data remains on the sd card.
2. The QR code just allows you to download the rom to your phone. You would still need to flash it AFAIK. (Heven't tried one of those yet). There are basically 2 types of NAND Android roms. One type use the more conventional flash type where you run an exe (daf.exe) from the usb flasher option on magldr. The 2nd (more recent type) packs the roms as zips which you can download and copy to your sd card and then using Clockwork mod, you can flash the rom directly from your sd card. This also allows you to take full backups, try another rom and if you don't like it you merely restore the rom.
3.Each rom and each dev has their own way of building these roms, so you will need to read carefully regarding what to do wrt sd card partitions etc.
4. Flashing WP7 and the Android rom via magldr would have installed the rom to NAND. You would need to partition your sd card yourself prior to flashing the rom. There are tutorials on how to partition the sd card to give you more help.

1) MAGLDR is nothing but kind of a bootloader. You can select how you want to start your ROM. AD SD or NAND or also now you can back up ROMS with MAGLDR... SD ROMS use haret.exe method. NAND uses DFT.exe method. there is another way called Clockwork MOD which uses .zip method.
Differences:-
SD Method: you have winmo 6.5 on NAND and android on SD card.
NAND Method: you install android on NAND itself.
Clockwork MOD: you install android on NAND but the benefits include you can backup your whole ROM in the actual state and flash it back later... So you can try different ROMs without worrying about installing apps and adjusting settings on the ones you like.
ext4 is a type of partition used by system. you can use the ROM which supports APP2SD and put your apps on ext4 partition.
2) As for the barcode ones. I am not sure how that works, but deffinately not as easy as you are thinking...
3) All the NAND roms use DAF.exe method so you do not need to worry about setting up the ROMs or anything. It does it for you. But some NAND roms have capabilities for APP2SD, in that case you might have to format your SD card in some particular way (explained in the threads always) to get ext2/3/4 partition to use app2sd.
4) you can flash WP7 only on NAND as there is no other way to do it for now. As for the new build you used, it has more than 1 versions. SD and NAND. If you followed the instructions for NAND and used DAF.exe to install it, then the ROM is already set up for you on NAND. Now the build you used had data2sd option and you can format your SD card as the author has said to use app2sd functionality.
One more thing, mostly TMO US users do not need app2sd as they have enough space on their phone. So if you are TMO US user, you can opt your self out from that headache.
Hope this helps. Just for the clarification, I am also a newb... I tried my level best to answer your questions...
QR codes are just text, in this case a URL. Instead of making you type the URL on your phone, you can just scan it with a special app, and get taken to the URL. Nothing more.

So if i opt to flash to NAND, is it flashing it to the NAND upon each boot or is it written once and thats it, it seems to take a little while longer to boot these ROMS on NAND than a stock ROM..so for instance, if i was to remove the SD card after shutting down the phone and then start it up again, would it not boot because its looking for the ROM on the SD to put into NAND ?...i understand that running from the SD card it just boots from the SD card.
So basically the last ROM i installed, as i did not pre setup the partitions on SD card, FAT32/1024mb ext4/512mb ext4 and went on to flash the rom it has ONLY flashed the ROM WITHOUT the apps and everything else it was supposed to have pre installed already ?...so i have now setup my SD card and i am going to follow through again from scratch and hopefully have the ROM running with all the said apps.

If you use NAND then you can start your phone without SD card. The build is on NAND(ROM). Where win6.5 used to be originally. You do not HAVE TO partition your card. You can use whole card at FAT32 and store all your data on there. But if you choose, you can give some storage space as ext2/3/4 partition and store your apps in that partition. The benefit is you can free some space from your phone. When you boot your phone for the first time, it will be in original state. Then you can install apps from the market. These apps will be going to your phone's inbuilt memory by default. But you can use some apps to move apps from your phone storage to ext4 partition. But be aware that after you move your apps to SD card you have to have SD card in all times or those apps will not work when SD card is not there. As far as the size of ext4 partition is in question, 1024 MB is more than enough. As you will have some space on your phone and 1024MB on ext4. I would say if you install more apps than that, then you phone will be laggy like hell. ext4 partition size should not matter according to me.

It's another possible source of problems (I've had my fair share of system crashes with A2SD on my ol' Magic, and the biggest problem was that there was no way of backing stuff up - stuff probably got more reliable nowadays though), it's not ideal for your SD card and speed isn't optimal either.

People would have you believe otherwise..ext4 is faster but ext2 parsay is more reliable... for the life of me i have followed numerous guides explaining how to format the card, even one i followed from a rom was in perfect enlgish and easy to follow but my phone just locks at the spinning tmobile logo, it wont even boot into magldr...all i can do is reflash a stock rom using RUU...im sure i am doing everything in correct order
I have a problem.
HD2 returned from the service, so i have to install Android. I decided this time NDT Miui, although it does not matter. So I install HSPL4, Radio + Task29 and MagLDR 1.13.
Next - install recovery - well I decided to install the latest 5.0.26 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987531), so I downloaded from this topic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913) recovery and substituted recovery-raw.img this new. Recovery run
1.Before install rom I wipe data / cache and Dalvik.
2. I wanted to make SD-EXT partitions so I choose partitioning EXT 1024MB and swap 0MB.
3. Unfortunately partitioning process stood(stopped) 10 minutes, so I took out battery, and put and restart phone.
4.I was not sure what happened with card, so I formatted SD in Win7
5.In recovery partitionning this time doing good and it displayed "Done".

6.Unfortunately when I doing wipe data I get this message:
App2SD No partition found. Skipping the format of / sd-ext.
Likewise, when you try to mount:
Can not mount / sdcard /
7. Therefore of course it is not possible to install rom, because I get, the message that it can't mount the card.

8 Formatting (quick and full) in Win7, and program - SDFormatter.
9 GParted run from the disc and remove the partition and create EXT3 and FAT32.
10 Inserting the card for Nokia and format it.
11 Finding another card (128MB) but recovery display the same problems.
12 The cards are normally visible in Windows or Nokia.
13 When I put the card and I doing wipe data as in step 6 I get this the message and then after removing card and inserting to reader, Windows calls that you need to format the card, because it can't open SD.
14 In an analogous situation to the point 13, but I doing in recovery sd partitionning, I does not have a problem in Windows (Windows see partition in Fat32, which is reduced by roughly the size set to EXT).
15 Install old recovery 3.0.0.5 - the same problems
As for the 1-3 point I do not know whether it is important. I'm not too sure if the first time when I did wipe data (before this wrong partitioning - a point 2-3) whether it was ok or not - but unfortunately when I did not pay attention and I'm not sure.
Any ideas?
Try re-flashing CWM with this:

and then see if it sees your sd card.
I tried create partition by Mini Tool Partition too - unsuccesfull.
So, I tried return to WM6.5 stock. Copy LEOIMG.nbh to SDCard and I run Bootloader Mode (Vol- + Power) and nothing... It display Serial, but if I plug USB cable, it display USB. So, I install WM6.5 by RUU.exe from htc.com. OK, it installed WM.
In WM, phone can't see (detected) SD Card too? Are You think that I broke SDCard-reader in HD2?
Yep, sounds like a hardware problem at this point, as the likelihood of WM, Android, and CWM all having the same problem at the same time due to software/firmware issues is astronomically slim.
Looks like it's time to start looking for a reliable, decent-priced repair shop. Sorry for your bad luck.

I tried with 4 different cards and nothing.
Strange that in a moment and read the card as soon as I changed even two others, this also read them.
Unfortunately, I wanted to copy something already on the card and then HD2 did not read anything again, so probably a hardware issue.

I have a HD2 and wanted to dual boot WP7 and Android. Found this new method NativeSD and decided to try it. But once I installed the ROM (through MAGLDR 1.13 and Recovery 4Ext 2.2.7), everything works fine, except that the camera app (and other apps) says that it cannot find the external SD card to save the pictures. It does not give me options to save on phone. But since both system and data are on external SD, and that partition is treated as /mnt/sdcard0, I am not sure if I am supposed to have an external SD card from the perspective of Android.
Cannot seem to find similar post with this issue, so I must be doing something wrong with partitioning. Could you help??? Thanks so much! I am inches away from having a great Android JellyBean experience on my HD2.

Details:
4 partitions on my 16GB SD card:
1) FAT32, 3GB (this is the boot partition, where I installed Recovery 4Ext and through it, installed the boot files in /NativeSD)
2) Ext4, 8GB (this is the system/data partition, where installation put all Android files)
3) Ext4, 2GB (this is current empty, reserved for another ROM that requires two partitions)
4) Other, 2GB (this is a WP7 partition)
I formatted these using Mini Partition Tool on Windows (not via Recovery 4Ext)
I think you need to run CHKDSK on your FAT32 partition of the card with fix option, once, using a card reader and computer. Once done, put the card back to your phone and boot to your preferred Native SD rom. Then check whether you applications are able to trace the SD card. Should work, since the same worked for me, when I had a similar issue. Hope that helps.

1) should Android JB think that I have an external SD?
2) where will this external SD be mapped to? The Fat32 partition? The same Ext4 partition as system & data?
3) what would chkdsk do? I just want to make sure that it doesn't mess up the Win 7 stuff as well.

Thanks for your reply. Upon multiple trial and error, I found out that the logical partition is the culprit. When I have 3 primary (FAT32, Ext4, Ext4), Android can recognize the ext SD card. However, when I have 3 primary and 1 logical (the Win Phone 7 partition is made logical by windows), then Android does not recognize the ext SD card anymore.
Any thought on how I can resolve this? Or else I will have to keep 2 SD cards, one for WP7, and one for Android. Doable, but a bit of a hassle.

you could use two cards, i am at the moment (I keep spare card in a cellotape pocket on inside of battery cover). You can also dual boot without partitioning see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34009754&postcount=1126 but only really as a backup phone in case wp7 goes wrong and you are away from pc.

Thanks Robbie. Yes, I have set the WP7 partition as primary and then it works! I am liking the Android experience (have been using iPhone).
Btw, in WP7, it is asking me to update software (I have a very old WP7 installation, migrated to dual boot in early 2011 i think). Can I just upgrade WP7 like normal (i.e. by connecting to Zune)? Or will that destroy MAGLDR? If that won't work, how can I upgrade WP7 to 7.5 or later 7.8? I cannot use Windows Market Place apparently with the old WP7 OS.

I would just flash one of the new wp7.8 roms, your choice which. Ansar's does not seem to be able to use the new wpbackup app at the moment.
With Hd2o and pdaimatejam you can backup your phone and restore apps sms calls etc. Sooo much better for trying out new roms.
