Having a few troubles,
I thought I would save myself some hassle and use the international bootstrap app in the market to get clockwork recovery.
So bought it, installed it, ran it.... then it was stuck on the "galaxy tab" logo screen after reboot, able to get into download mode but not recovery
Searched the forums, found people suggesting to flash the rotohammer JMI full with Odin would fit it, so I did that and got a FAIL half way through flashing,
then I saw another thread and they said just flash the .pit file by itself so I did that, this time it PASSED, but now all I get is a black screen, or white screen if its charging...
Can get to Download mode still, but not recovery or anything else,
Any ideas? I thought I would ask because I would just be guessing now and I dont want to do more damage than I already have...
The pit file repartitions your sd card. Now you are ready to flash the JMI rom in the pda spot, uncheck repartition. Reboot, then flash a modem.

Okay, I know there is many post about this, but none seem to answer my question or help me. I have a Vibrant and I've been searching this site along with google to help fix my phone.
I brought it off a friend so warranty won't happen since T-Mobile is being asses. My phone is suck on the black screen after it passes the big S logo. It stays black, and I get 4 lights bright on the buttons. I've reflashed my phone with Odin and it has not worked. I think it correctly as well. Com3 was on, ran the stock Vibrant with Pitt and Tar with PDA one. That had only got my phone off the complete brick that my phone had gone through, when It wouldn't even turn on.
I got the brick off and now I'm stuck with this program. I did have a one click root fix and I was trying to mess around with clock work. To help answer some questions. No, I can not boot into recovery mode. Yes I have cleaned and wipe out cache. Yes I can go into Download mode, but its pointless since odin doesn't do much for me. No I can not go into the phone since the black screen is there and no I can not flash a update file for some reason.
Saying that, I would be grateful for some help and before hand I thank anyone who comes across this even if they don't help, just for taking time to read this and maybe referring someone else to help me or even pointing me in the right direction. Thanks and once again PLZZZZZZZ HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP.
No, odin is not "useless." I'm pretty positive that you applied Odin wrong.
- Check the MD5 on the files you downloaded; verify they are indeed identical.
- Search for development forum for "drivers"... theres a thread posted by TGA_Gunner. Find that thread and download the version respective to your OS (x86 or x64). This one is proven to work.
What exactly happened in Odin?

Okay. One thing I notice when I try to put my phone into the Android system recovery it says this "
-- Movi_check start .. !!
checksum confirmation need _checksum [1301305579]
MBR _Chksum in header :4.1
MBR checksum : EC0063A432AFDBA2B104C3F0DF52FE3D
MBR Checksum Error
Movinand Checksun Confirmaton Fail
-- movi_checking done!...
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Appling Muti - CSC ...
Installing Muti - CSC "
Another thing, I hit reinstall packages and It says "
-- install from sdcard...
finding update package ...
opening update package ...
E: cant open /sdcard/update.zip
(no such file or directory)
installation aborted.
the drivers I use are the samsung Vibrant drivers for windows 7 64. I know it works because the phone before didn't come up when I didn't use the driver. It always failed and when I install it, than it read my phone. When I connect the phone to the computer, the phone does read it and on odin, it says com 3 in yellow. I than Install pitt and install tar.
The tread you sent me too, I actually went through there before. Both of those drivers didn't work but I found one for windows 7 and it started working for my computer. I could tell it works because the computer actually reads the phone and so does odin. Like I use odin right because it goes through the phone and than says pass at the end. so like WTF lol. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right tho
Another thing. I used odin a few seconds ago, got the phone to run and it went through the green bar and a blue screen now saying reset came up. My phone than went into androids recovery mode but it started to wipe out data. When doing so, the data said wipe fail. It booted up and now back to the start. Black screen, 4 panels on the bottom lit up and nothing to do.
I'm starting to think it has to do with clockwork I did a partition in it and every since than my phone has been doing this blackscreen with 4 lights.
ANY body ?
help would def be appreciated and even donates if possible. I just need my phone to work
same thing here, know idea, odin says everything passed but still the black screen and four buttons. i also noticed that the sound and tmo splash screen are not in sync. no idea ???? help would be great!!!!!!!!!!! same errors though. also from the partion feature in clockworkmod.
i assume your on windows i don't keep up if there is a working version for mac. Anyway, make sure your update.zip is just named update DO NOT add .zip yourself or the phone for what ever reason sees .zip.zip. I would also go ahead re download your odiin files just to make sure non of them are corrupted for what ever reason.
files all check out good, i can't gain access to the phones sd, i have flashed this thing with every checked build i could find, all with the same result. the master boot record is not adding up.? still have know idea.
have you tried using this.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740558
this work for me and was able to flash to stock..
somebody please help I'm experiencing the same problem as the OP? can somebody point me in the right direction I've been looking for hours
Instead of making us read the entire thread perhaps you could summarize your specific problem.
My initial impression goes like this.
1. Get into download
2. ODIN back to STOCK 2.1
Run odin in admin mode
Use rage against the cage
After getting back to stock Recovery 2e go ahead reroot and flash away

Don't know if this is still an issue, but here's how I fixed it.
http://forum.androidspin.com/showth...yo-That-does-not-Brick!-Downgrading-Is-Fine-)
Downloaded this file knowing it wouldn't work, Had ODIN flash it and got into this weird recovery screen. Just pulled the battery and then flashed back to stock using ODIN.
Helped me out.
Use 512 .pit and True Stock 2.1 from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747335
And quit messing with your phone! lol
This is how i fixed mine too, my phone would go through a seemingly normal start up, but the UI would never load and it would stay on a blank screen.
Flash Eugenes373s froyo that doesnt brick. once it brings you to the recovery screen, pull the battery and once again use odin to flash back to stock. the phone should boot up now.

Hey i just encountered the same exact problem four days ago except i flash with odin it says pass but im still stuck on a black screen after the s logo my problemwas encountered by tryig flash a kernal. Please tell me that u found a solution
So I tried to flash the rom of my galaxy tab.
I first flashed it to JM6, everything fine
Then to JMA, everything fine
Then to JMF, and the tab did not reboot, it went into recovery mode.
I tried rebooting again, it got stuck at Samsung logo, I went to recovery mode and wiped data and rebooted again and it again was stuck at the Samsung logo, I tried doing this 3-4 times and it was always stuck at samsung logo.
I tried flashing it again and no luck.
Then I tried flashing a different rom, the JHA from Roto, and odin failed.
Now my tab has picture I havent seen anywhere else, A phone picture - A PC picture and in between there is a yellow triangle with ! in it.
I can not go to download mode, can not go to recovery mode!
Stuck like this, can anyone help?
ok so when I have the phone+yellow exclamation+computer pics, i used odin to flash it again, and it did flash!
after the flash the screen became the normal download mode, i rebooted and it got stuck again at samsung logo, i did the wipe data thing on recovery mode but it still does not boot, gets stuck at samsung logo.
help please
solved !
went back to base rom jm6, pit csc pda modem files, did boot
then flashed again to jma
now using jma
dont know which rom i should use now, cause jmf did not reboot
Hello everyone,
I have the same problem since yesterday, after wanting to do things too fast. I have a french Tab bought from SFR.
Coming from Roto JME V4, i flashed OC Kernel v2, all fine.
Then when modaco's ext4 kernel drop, i flashed it and did the ext4 conversion : all fine.
On top of that i tried to flash new OC Kernel v6 for ext4, i ended up with freezing home after analysing storage, just like others.
Here's what i did wrong : i didn't backup recovery with CKW has i should have, i tried to flash JME V4 again, thinking it would wipe and i would have started all over again, no matter.
So here i am, odin flash didn't end well, i restart the tab and i have this frightening logo.
Now i would have liked doing like you, flash with odin while this logo's on, but i think the battery's out : whatever i do, tab keeps alterning logo/black screen(like off)/logo/black screen/logo, while pluged ; doesn't show anything if not plugged ; odin can't see anything.
Has anybody got an idea? Just let me know if you need more info (no logcat or screenshot though).
Thanks in advance. Regards,
FF
It sounds like you've probably both had a problem a lot of us have experienced in the past because the JM series ROMS after JM6 do not include dbdata.rfs and this often causes Tabs to error when you enter the recovery console after a flash (or hang at the Samsung logo if you don't go into the recovery console). The way to solve this is either to make sure that the ROM you flash includes dbdata.rfs or flash the dbdata.rfs file from JM6 with Heimdal after you have flashed another ROM. If you look in the topic for the JMG ROM you'll see a number of posts about this and there's a link posted on page 3 to a stock JMG ROM that includes the dbdata.rfs from JM6 and can be flashed straight with Odin.
Hello everyone,
I'm still with the same problem, the Tab don't seem to charge while plugged in, it keeps alternating showing the logo then nothing like the tab's off.
Odin can't see anything as the Tab just keeps turning on & off.
What do you think? screwed? go to shop and play the idiot to get a new tab?
Thanks.

It looks like I got myself in a pickle. I have a GS4 running 4.2.2. I picked up my phone today and successfully rooted it with instructions from DroidView using files from chainfire. I then installed CWM recovery with ROM Manager and backed up my ROM with it. I decided to replace chainfires SU with the one fom CWM like I had on my S3. After rebooting from recovery mode I noticed I had lost root so I used the same method to root it again because I thought it had reset itself. Before the reboot occurred there was option to prevent the possibility of the ROM flashing itself to stock. I went to select the Yes option but bumped the power button which selected No. While trying to reroot and failing, the phone displayed the message "Invalid percent of drawing download progress bar." On reboot the error “Firmware upgrade encountered an issue“ along with a cone and a couple of other pics. I have tried to get into recovery mode several times but repeatedly get this error. I can get into download mode and have tried to flash the stock ROM for this phone but it fails in Odin 3.0.7. Odin sees my phone and verifies the md5 but fails very quickly upon clicking start. I tried this with KiesPDLR running in the background and disabled. I have not tried anything else out of concern for messing it up further. Attached are screenshots and log from ODIN along with the text that is being displayed in download mode. (I will have to post these later as the attachments option will not work properly on my wife's S3).
Two other notes. 1) I used ODIN 1.85 to root as that was what was included in the chainfire download. But I used ODIN 3.0.7 to try and unroot because that's what the DroidView directions said. Would it make any difference to use ODIN 1.85 to try and flash the stock firmware? It sees my phone as well but the F. Reset Time option is unchecked and grayed out and the directions says it needs to be checked. Don't know if that really makes a difference. 2) My phone is actually with US cellular but there is not a forum for this carrier. I chose this forum because my previous phone the Mesmerize had an identical model number as the Fascinate. Please do not pass over my request for help because of this as I am in dire need.

Try odin 1.85 I use that to odin back to stock and dont worry about the other ones just make sure auto reboot is checked.
Also are you sure the phone you have is the sprint gs4 sph l720 jfltespr?? Cause odin a tar file not for the phone could potentially brick the phone.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
I would try to download the stock rom from a different source if you can. These tar files are so large for this phone that the possibility of a bad download is pretty high. Also, make sure you don't have to extract the actual .tar file first from the archive you download. Lots of these stock roms are repackaged into a zip file and you need to extract the tar file for use in Odin before installing.
I am back in business. I have my phone and home internet back now. Yeah. I used the same stock ROM I had since it was the same as sammobile which was also a zip file and I already had it on my system. I just used Odin 1.85 instead. I guess I could have done this earlier and prevented a near stoke but everything else I had done seemed to get me deeper in a hole. These large zip files have always made me a bit nervous but I haven't found where to get one otherwise.
I have some follow up questions.
1) Why would it flash with Odin 1.85 and not with 3.0.7?
2) Is CWM's SU not compatible with the S4? Everything was working fine until I switched this from chainfire to CWM using ROM Manager.
3) Is there a good source with unzipped ROM's?
Chainfires SuperSU is much better with JellyBean than cwm SU. For some reason most people that try to switch to SU from SuperSU have the same problem you had.
Sent from my icrap 2 using Tapatalk HD
Okay. I decided to go with chainfires after this fun little ordeal. The few small things I preferred from CWM is not worth it. Besides it looks like chainfire made some upgrades since I last looked at it. I guess I was lucky with my S3 because I converted several times.
Thanks for all the help everyone.

check that out if you werent previously rooted if you were previously rooted then try this
Use Odin to flash the lollipop kernel you were using. Then go into the stock recovery (hold Home + Vol UP and Power) and clear the cache and reboot. If that doesn't work, go back into the stock recovery, clear cache and select factory reset, then reboot. That should allow MOAR (whatever rom you want i stole this post from one of my other topics about when i softbricked mine) to boot, then you can reinstall SafeStrap Lollipop.
If you're getting any kind of logo screen showing up on boot, you are only "soft" bricked (not "hard" or permanently bricked) and you can fix it easily.
If you're only getting a logo, try what Veid71 said in the post above mine. If that doesn't work, then worst case you just need to flash a factory restore image with Odin and start over.
A word of caution, though: if your firmware version was updated to BOE1, BOG5, BOK3, do NOT flash an earlier factory image or you will brick because after BOD the bootloader was locked and you can't downgrade it.

I get the logo screen like it is turning on then it goes to recovery mode options. I can get to Download mode and Odin has a blue port connection but my Win8 and Win7 PCs do not see the device at all, so I cant' flash in Odin. Background - I attempted to root using jrkruse method and got stuck and never rooted. Anyone know a way around this maybe using the external SD card?

When it boots into the recovery mode options, try clearing cache and then reboot. If that doesn't work, do it again, clearing cache and also factory reset. That may allow your phone to boot back up normally.
The SDcard Unbrick method is only needed if your phone cannot boot into Download mode. In this case, it wouldn't help you because your phone is functioning in that regard.
When you have the phone in Download mode, your computer won't show it as a device in "My Computer" because it's not connected as a media device., but software that knows how to look for it can see it. If Odin is lighting up blue in the first ID:COM box, it IS seeing the phone and you will be able to flash to it.
If you're to a point where you need to flash a factory restore image, click the "AP" button in Odin to select it. The image needs to be one that ends with a file extension "tar.md5", or Odin can't see it. If what you've downloaded is a zip archive, the image is inside that and you need to extract it first. Use the image in "step 2" of the root thread
I figured out what went wrong from your response thanks! I had saved the .tar.md5 on the external SD card rather than pc. Now attempting to re-root, .bat sees device but doesn't root.

Recently I had tried rooting my phone and was certainly successful at it until I wanted to get Superman rom. Since then I downloaded it on my computer ran it on twrp on my phone but then after going through the configuration screen it booted into installation mode but then failed after a minute, resulting my phone to go into not being able to start up. The screen flashed something along the lines of "not able to load with secure boot". Secure boot must've turned on or something like that because it was totally off when I started the process, and I couldn't go into my phone besides download mode/recovery. Since I booted it up in download mode, erased partition all the options in recovery mode, and loaded it up original firmware based on my phone in odin3. Then I loaded the original firmware file being called "VZW_G935VVRU1APB1_G935VVZW1APB1_CL7042442_QB8595625_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.zip" unzipped and put all the necessary parts in their places, AP, BL ,CP, CSC. After trying it multiple times I was dumb and clicked re partition because odin3 would fail to flash until I re partitioned it. Ever since then my phone is blank and no commands work. My phone is a Samsung S7 Edge that was rooted, I have an micro SD if there is a way of unbricking my phone...
Go to the service center
I think "Box" will fix it
