I got a Sim card icon with Blue exclamation over it... And I couldn't get connect to a network , any ideas...
At one point with my MT3G I had a SIM card that would no longer connect; I called tech support, and they eventually determined that I needed a new one. They asked me what store was most convenient for me, then called ahead for me and I was able to go get a replacement free of charge. When all else fails, cal TMO. BTW, I was rooted when that happened, they didn't care, and didn't even look at my phone...since there had already been a call in from customer service, they had the card ready for me, and let me put it in my own phone.

I'm trying to find out if anyone has tried doing this. For some reason when I install the sim from my gophone in the HD2 it doesnt say that there is no sim present, but it also wont give me the option to unlock the phone or make a call. If I hit the phone button nothing comes up. Oh yea, Mines the T-Mobile US version >_>
does it work with a regular t-mobile sim card?
Some phones require sim unlock with original SIM carrier in it - once code is typed in then it easily recognizes other SIM cards (AT&T in your case)
I have the unlock code for my phone. I just cant get the panel that asks for it to come up.
Oh and no I cant use it with the regular card because I have to go to the local tmobile shop on monday. I was told by tmobile that some how my sim number must have been a reissued number because it was registered to someone else and now I have to go pick up a new sim card.
My AT&T card was not recognised by my 9193 at first.
I had to put it in and try several times. Pushed it way down in the slot after lightly using a pencil eraser on the contact surfaces and off it went. Hasn't missed a beat in a month.
It's odd, cant seem to get it to work .. It doesnt say there is no sim like it does when I completely take it out, but it still wont let me bring up the phone panel. I've tried wiggling it, Putting it in 50 different ways... nothing seems to work.
Hello guys
I'm having an issue when my x10 says there's no Sim card inside and the problem isn't with my Sim card since I tried in my old phone and it works. Even other Rogers Sim card don't work. Anyway I tried taking the battery out and after 3 attempt its working again. So, I want to know anyone else having the same problem and what's the solution?

I had the same issue but mine was a little different. My Xperia would not accept my rogers Sim ( 3 years old ) but it worked fine in all my other handsets.. it was the Sim card in my case and I was surprised to have it replaced free of charge.. also I found that some of the Sims are thinner than others so they would not have enough pressure to make a good contact. A quick fix from my friends Nokia was some clear tape on the back of his sim and it worked perfect.
Good luck!

TMobile's customer service department told me to bend the sim card very gently to ensure good contacts are made. Did this on first day and not had any problems since (famous last words... I'll be digging out the tape by tomorrow!)
My Sim card is like 5 year old anyway It's working now

All u guys with 5yr old simcards need to get rid of them! Those have like 28kb of storage on them, so their phone books are so, so limited!
I know! U use the phones memory, which is a whooooooole bunch! But if your phone ever crashed, all your contacts will be gone! U cannot always copy the entire list of contacts to the sim card, but with a newer 3G simcard, you can copy a lot more than your 5yr old sim card can hold.
These are free! Just walk into your provider's store and request a new simcard. U dont even have to show them what kind of phone u have (ahem!... those of us who are skimming with grandfathered data plans ). Just walk in and say "left my phone at work, but I need a simcard".
I think this thread will help you
as it does for me

I checked that thread, but I hadn't rooted my x10a yet. Going waiting until something extraordinary happens
Someday I will change my sim card lol
Anybody know how to change the network name from something other than "T-Mobile | Get More..." ? Is this something that would require root? It didn't used to do that on my G1 with CM6 so was wondering if it's a software thing.
I find it more obnoxious on the notification bar when you pull it down.
And yes, root is required to silence it.
Mine says "T-Mobile" on the locak screen and when I pull down the notification.... might wanna hard reset the phone?
Did a hard reset yesterday and it didn't fix it...would doing the soft root allow you to change it?
Mine only said T-Mobile
Root hasn't developed enough to do any of that.... besides if you do change something, the "Un-root" system will wipe off everything and do a factory reset.
Maybe you got a "special" G2? lol
Mine says VStream, which is when I got my current SIM card. Should I switch to the SIM card provided in the box?
Mine said T-Mobile:Get More... until I switched to the new sim and now it just says T-Mobile.

Same here. When I got it yesterday I just put my SIM from my G1 in.
I used my G1 sim and it says "TMobile - Get More"
Sounds like it's a SIM thing then...I didn't use the SIM provided since for whatever reason it put my mom's cell # on the SIM (we're on a family plan and she's the primary account...had to go through some shenanigans to even get it shipped to my address and not hers). I guess I'll call T-Mo and see if I can get a new SIM shipped out.
Hello
After I install FR008 , I LOST MY SIGNAL IN MY ARIA . I cann't even connect to the network at all . I keep getting no services or Limited services .
When i search Manually for an Operator I keep getting , the sim card can't be connected to ... .
HOW TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE ?
I have tried 2 radios .
1- liberty-radio47.41.35.10H_7.09.35.13-signed
2- liberty-radio47.54.35.20H_7.13.35.13-signed
HELO PLZ PLZ PLZ
Wow, odd. I had a similar issue. I would look at my phone and have no service (ATT in NYC - YOU GET SERVICE). Then maybe I thought it was my office building, nope. Also tried different radios. Nope.
Went to CM61.1 and never had another issue.
I had same issue randomly before. Though setting network types bring my signal back. In case you wanna try it:
- Dial *#*#4636#*#*
- Phone Info
- Bottom of the screen, try to change "Set preferred network type".

Something similar to this happened to me.
I had CM6, and (without thinking) did a factory reset of the phone (Settings/Privacy/Factory data reset).
When the phone rebooted, it didn't recognize the SIM card. I almost [email protected]#t bricks. The card wouldn't work in any other phone, but other SIM cards worked fine in the Aria.
The solution was to un-root/reinstall stock at&t Android ROM and take it to the at&t store. They replaced my SIM card.

Did the STC SIM card work in any other phone?
I'm guessing that when you flashed the ROM, it hosed the SIM card.
Please check to see if the STC SIM card works in another unlo.cked phone. If it doesn't then it's been damaged. If it DOES work in another phone, then there's something going on with how your phone is interacting with the network/radio software on the device.

It sounds like the SIM card is bad. You should get a replacement.
I'm not an expert on this, and can only suggest. If other cards work in the phone you're probably ok.

What error are you seeing? When I had a problem, the device said there was no SIM card present. It wasn't just "no service."
If an at&t card works on the phone you are fine. You just need to fix carrier issues.
If you want, unroot and load the stock ROM from at&t and try the SIM.

What didn't work?
I'm trying to help (with my limited knowledge).
It really sounds like the STC card is bad.
When you start the phone, do you see a big picture of a SIM Card displayed? If so, that means one of the following:
There is no card present
There is a card present, but it is inserted incorrectly or not completely in the slot
There is a card present, but it is either deactivated or damaged
If you DON'T see a big picture of a SIM card when the phone starts, then the SIM card is in place and not damaged. You may not have service (there is an "x" on the top left of the signal strength bars). But the card is still good. It's also possible the card is not provisioned for STC. They can re-provision it. Call them and tell them the phone's IMEI number.
I really want to help!

Ok...I think I'm understanding now. I didn't know you searched for networks and got the error message.
The error message "Your Sim Card doesn't Allow Connection to this Network" is a good indicator that the SIM Card is defective.
Try the following. If they don't work, try purchasing a new SIM card.
switch to Airplane mode and back again
go to Settings/Wireless & network/Mobile networks and check "Use only 2G networks."
Go to the dial pad and dial *#*4636#*#* and select Phone Information. Scroll to the end and choose "GSM only" in the drop-down box above "turn off radio"
Go to http://www.amta.org.au/pages/amta/Check.the.Status.of.your.Handset and see if your phone has been reported lost or stolen and re-branded (I'm not sure where you got it, but it doesn't hurt to check).
If all else fails, I suggest getting a new SIM card from STC Mobile. Explain that it just stopped working and you need another one. They may charge you a small fee, but at least the phone will work.
Good luck,
Dan
It's working Now .
thanks
Yesterday I upgraded to a gs3 which came with a micro sim. I wanted to see if I could keep my old phone as a backup. Would the lte micro sim work in my non-lte full-sized-sim captivate/gs1?
After 3 trys i managed to properly align the micro sim in the full sized sim slot and it worked. But then the weird part. Without powering down the phone I plucked out the sim (possible because the micro sim is so small). To my surprise the phone did not give any error and both data and voice calls continued to work without a sim actually in the phone.
How was that possible? Further, what would have happened if I had booted up my new phone with the sim card that my old phone still thought it was using (I was too afraid to try)? Would both phones continue to work? Would they both ring when someone calls?
Sent from my Cyanogenmod 9 Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
any sim should work as long as its activated and its the same size.
and no they both wont work, the phone that has no sim will show "no sim" upon reboot

Perhaps I was not clear. I removed the sim without turning the phone off and it continued to work. I know it should not, but it does. That is what I am asking, how is that possible? Does the phone only check for a sim when it boots, and from then on the sim is not needed?
Then what would happen if I boot up phone #2 while phone #1 still thinks that the sim card is in it.
I'm interested, try it and let us know what happens.

I'm not an expert, but I think all the SIM provides is a string of numbers that identifies the phone with a phone number. This is most likely cached in the device while it is on and it might not need the SIM card after it has already gotten the information. This might not pertain to all phones, maybe the Galaxy S3 was programmed slightly differently.
If you power down the phone and restart without the SIM, the phone will most likely ask you for a SIM.
It is an S1/Captivate that is working without a sim. And yes, when I reboot the phone it stops working. I'm not brave enough to try both phones at the same time. That seems like something that the phone company would notice.
I tried removing the SIM from my captivate while it was running, and for a short time it still showed signal. Soon after I got a message asking to put in a SIM and restart. I don't have an LTE SIM or microSIM to test with, but it doesn't seem likely that the cappy will continue to work without one. Or at least without starting with a regular SIM.
