[Q] NAND Random reboots?? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Am I the only one who get random reboot every now and then. Typically those happens when phone is stand-by mode. And when it happens then it normally reboots 2-3 times and after that it is stable again... Is there any way to avoid them??
I've tried at least 6-7 different ROMs and this happens with every of them...
And I have done task29 and so on and without task29 and so on.... Damn, this is frustrating...
Now at the moment I am quite happy... only 2-4 reboots per day with version [Feb 02][DL DesireZ v3.4][DL Data2SD/Ext4 v2.7][Nand/SD/MAGLAR]

this can actually be caused because of some gps problems.. I dont think the problem is with your phone.. It's with the ROM i think..
you can try one of the gingerbread roms ? i haven't had any reboot problems running gingerbread.

The only time I've had reboots is when using setcpu - and undervolting the phone too much. If you use setcpu, try raising the min and max slightly to see if it helps.
Sent from my HD2 NANDroid using XDA App

i got the same issue :/
the phone randomly reboots... i tried different radios and roms but makes no difference.
But since Mgdlr 1.13 i just got one reboot last 24h with latest radio + gpc ginger v1.5
Are there logs at the android system to post here?

provider?
I have the random reboots since i've switched to a mvlo virtual provider in austria (bob). maybe there is a problem with the radio? i get NO reboots in flightmode

@artn3r: hi, same problem here! i'm also on bob.at and i had random reboots with any android build i've tested so far.
but with the hint of an other boardmember i didn't have any reboots since 2 days. i just switched the network mode from "automatic" to "wcdma only".
maybe this is a possibilty for some of you dev's out there to fix that problem!?

Thanks, i'll try!!!

thank's. i'll try it

but this is not a good option, because if the reception is bad, you get no calls at all

sorry guys......
1 hour ago i had the last reboot. so this is not the reason for these f....... reboots.

This text already exists in an another topic, but since this topic is dedicated to this problem, I decided to copy it here as well.
I MIGHT have found a solution to this problem!
Here's a little story about my HD2:
I bought my device about a year ago. The device was equipped with stock Winmo 6.5 with WWE 1.66 (sadly I don't remember the radio number). No problems with it. After a while, I decided update to the latest stock ROM WWE 3.14 (radio 2.15.50.14). Everything worked fine, exept I started having random reboots on idle. The phone didn't reboot on use, only in idle (sleep mode). It could stay on as long as 4-10 hours, or as little as few minutes.
I started to look solution to this problem, but couldn't find it. Then I decided to get a custom ROM, which was one of the Artemis builds. The rebooting issue vanished.
Couple of days ago, I decided swith to nand Android ("Stock" NAND Android ROM). Everything worked very well, exept the rebooting problem came back. I tried different Android versions, radio versions and everything else. Nothing worked.
Now we get to the part which could fix this problem once and for all. Not only in different Android builds, but also in Winmo 6.5 and possibly in WP7.
The solution is to change the automatic network selection to manual! Since there is no clear manual selection in Android, you have to go to settings and manually select the preferred network from the list. I don't know if this is the permanent solution, because it's impossible to choose one and only network, but as long as the reception is good and you don't reboot your device, it should work. I haven't tested if the manual selection disables when rebooting the device. However you can always manually select the network and by doing this you should avoid random reboots on idle.
So the problem shouldn't be in your device, memory card or your custom ROM. The problem is somehow related to the automatic network selection. The actual problem could be in the sim card, or your service provider, or even in the ROM, but you can fix this by manually selecting the network.
This fix also worked with the stock Winmo 6.5 with WWE 3.14 (radio 2.15.50.14) where I had these same problems in the past.
I have now used the HD2 for three days without rebooting. I hope it works for everyone else as well.

I definetly need to test this... And it is so easy Just put pin code asking back ;=)

Report me back, if this fix worked, because it gives me some reassurance that my phone is going to work in the future, without the annoying reboots.
Four days without rebooting. Fingers crossed.

Moro! Itse olen käyttänyt HD2:sella Rafdroid HD:tä versioita 1.0, 2.0-2.4 ja 3.0 ja kaikissa on ollut tää inhottava random-boot hommeli.. pitääkin testata jos tuo manual network selection auttaa asiaa, kiitos vinkistä
Hello! I've been using Rafdroid HD:s all versions in my HD2 and always I have random booting.. I should test if that manual network selection helps, thanks for advice!

The couse
I think I know what couses the reboots on my phone.
The reboots only happen when i am on 3G. I know this becouse when im at home i dont have 3g but at work i have 3g. And reboots only happen when im at work.
Anyone that can confirm this?

The reason why you are experiencing random reboots, might be caused by your service provider. Because many people here in Finland, who have service provider called "Saunalahti", have the random reboot issue, when using the automatic network selection. However, when I use a different service provider, I don't have these issues. This is also the reason, why we are not all suffering from the same problem.
I have now switched to nand RAFDROID 3.0 and immeaditly turned of the automatic network selection and I haven't had any rebooting problems. So it seems that at least for some of us, turning of the automatic network selection will resolve the random reboot problem.

Thanks, I am going to try this. My phone has a tendancy to reboot everytime I am in the UK. In my own country, Holland, I don't seem to have this problem as much, only once a week maybe. This seems to support the theory mentioned above.
Thanks again.

i had same prob
i've had the same problems on my hd2, only it didn't reset on idle. i've send it to te factory, for waranty. luckely i stil was on winmo 6.5.
3 weeks later i've got it back with new mainbord and battery and now it works fine

Hello all, i seem to be suffering the same reboot problems. Been running NAND android since it came out with no problems. Now i get random reboots.
Where do i go to change the network selection to manual? is it in *#*#4636#*#*
Thanks!

Can't make calls & won't hang up (HD2/leo)

Can anyone help??
I've had my leo for a while now and I love the phone with one major exception.....
Sometimes when I call a contact nothing happens then after an eternity, 2minutes, the call is placed. I have good network connection and have tried it with and without 3G.
When this error is present I also get a problem whereby I can't hang up.
This seems to be a software problem. I'm on the T-mobile network in the UK. Does anyone else have the same problem?
I couldn't find anything on the forums. I've tried stripping programs/software off and have tried both hard and soft resets. The problem appeared to go away after a hard reset but then appear again weeks later for no apparent reason.
I have the original ROM version (1.43.110.2) and no significant mod's apart from Cookie home screen tabs and a few simple registry tweaks.
Any help guys, I'm contemplating taking the phone back but will I just end up with a reconditioned model? Mine's in mint condition and I don't want to end up with some banged up phone.
Hi, Did the phone work before the reg tweaks and software installation? A new T-Mobile UK ROM was published on the 15th, it might be an idea for you to flash your phone, test it then tweak, if it doesn't work after you flash it then speak to T-Mobile. If it workls after you flash it but not after you tweak then there's your problem Here is the link to HTC's UK web site with the download. I'd guess that T-Mobile will have a link on their support site for it too, somewhere: http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownloadList.aspx?p_id=297&act=sd&cat=2.
Hope this helps.
Mine does the same thing. Also mine also freezes when I get incoming calls. After I talk to the other person, I can't hang up. It's frozen. I have to hit the reset button on the back or take out the batter. I have two HD2's T-Mobile US Versions on release day.
I did do some HD2 tweaks to turn on the LED when I get messages though.
I'm going to reset both devices and see what happens. Maybe the old softwares don't work on the HD2 even though it's for WinMo 6.5.
I really hope it work, because I hate to return the unit. It's a beautiful hardware.
Thanks CMMY, I'll try installing the new ROM as soon as I get a chance.
I didn't have the problem before installing software/tweaks; but then again it was only probably a couple of days before I played around with it. After I did a hard reset and reinstalled some software it was working fine for at least a week before the problem re-occured, which seemed quite strange. Today the phone is working fine but will undoubtedly return, the fault seems entirely intermittent.
Daily driver: I also have the same problem when recieving calls. I'll let you know how I get on.
Same problem here, my phone is 3 days old and I have to remove the battery to end most calls, did a master reset and thought that fixed it. Couple hours later it was back at it. I'm using a tmobile hd2. This seems to be a very common problem, hope they come out with a patch soon..
Same problem here, hope it gets fixed someday
same problem
all the same..

Try un-ticking "Tap Time"
it seems its a network related problem...
sim related...
got to ask for super sim..
like the data connection stops calls..
with a super sim the problem is much smoller.. :?

I have this issue across diffrent roms, soft reboot does not fix it. just fixes itself after a while
Hi
Did you find a solution to this problem?
I'm using GSM HD2 Europe.
This problem start occurring after a while when I was using 29 Aug Energy rom.
After a reset the phone work ok for few hours.
When to problem start, the send physical button does not work.
if I want to make a call I must use the "phone" from the start menu.
When I try to end the call, the phone software stop responding, but the operation system keeps working.
In order to end the call I must remove the battery.
I when back to the original rom 1.66 from HTC site.
the problem still exist but less frequently.
(by the way the original rom work much slower then the energy custom rom.)
I’m wasting so much time on this phone, and I’m on the verge of giving up .
I will be happy to get some help.
Thanks
Ran S
If you do not have BsB tweaks, but used tweak #44 in "Leo's tips and tweaks", this can cause problems for some.
can't hangup
I found the reason for this problem. (at least for the specific problem I had)
I'm using resco keyboard.
if I leave the Caps lock on after using the keyboard, then the "Send" HW button does not work, and you can't hangup calls.
by opening the keyboard again and releasing the caps lock the all work fine again.
I've also had this problem... Made me consider selling this otherwise great HD2, sometimes even running it over with a car
When I want to make a call, phone just won't dial - it freezes, but everything else works fine (only "phone app" freezes). So, I give up the call. Few minutes later, it unfreezes, and phone starts calling. Usually, from my pocket. Also, after a call, I can't hang up. I often ended up with removing the battery.
I tried everything...
Restarting the phone makes everything ok, but only for a few minutes.
Installing different app, tweaks, etc - nothing.
Removing everything and returning the phone to factory settings - nothing.
Then, I remembered to disable Sense. That was it. I have used the phone without Sense for months, and it didn't happen. Not even ONCE!
Can anybody here do anything with this?
I still want to use Sense because it looks awsome, way better than Windows interface...
You could try a custom rom. I have been using Dutty's latest and greatest without any of the problems you're describing.

Phone Constantly is losing Signal

Hey guys i have had some issues with my cell phone lately (hd2 tmous).
3-4 times a day i lose my signal completely and the only way to get it back is to restart the device. Sometimes my device even displays
I have tried using different radios as well no luck
that the simcard has been removed, i have tried everything
also it happens whether im at home, school or work, i live in an area that gets great reception so that should not be the problem.
messing with the band to keep it at gsm only
reverted back to auto
removed and replaced sim card
hard reset, new rom, stock rom, i always task29 before new rom as well
does this happen to anyone else, any ideas on what the problem may be?
A factory reset with formatting the memory is on the cards I think

i just received a new sd card and it used to happen with my old formatted one, im not sure that would work? although it wouldnt hurt to see if it happens without the sd card in it.
It happens to me. Maybe a few times a week, though it will regain signal after a minute or few minutes. Sometimes I toggle the phone option off/on. Maybe that helps or maybe not. Rarely do I have to power down the phone, though I have done it a couple of time when I'm in a hurry.
It used to happen more often with the stock ROM from April of this year. Since I've upgraded a couple of times, it's gotten better. Hopefully the latest 3.14 ROM has fixed it some more.
have you complained to tmobile??? Maybe you need a new phone.

Browsing between topics of the H2 this one came to my attention.
I have exact the same issue! I also had it with my htc diamond. I moth ago when I received my HD2 (non branded) I thought it would be over. But no. it keeps losing signal. Freakingly annoying. I called tmobile (Netherlands sins i am from the Netherlands) and they would send me kindly enough a new sim.
But still…. The same issue.
I also did a hard reset, new ROM (cant go back to 1.33) and tried another phone. I gather it is a htc issue and some bad luck.
I didn’t had the error sim removed.
ok so i went about half a day with the sd card out and when i woke up this morning no signal again.
I gave t-mobile a call and explained to them what was going on. I was transferred to a pda/smartphone specialist, although i would say that any xda community member was more knowoledgeable than this rep. Anyway she asked me a couple of questions said there were no known issues and that i will receive a replacement phone and sim in 7 days and to return the old one phone. Hopefully with the new phone and sim i wont have this issue, im guessing they think its a hardware related problem. It bugs me that cheap crappy phones have no problem holding a signal and my top of the line hd2 does but lets hope had a faulty connection or something.

Your problem (most likely) lies with a bad combination of Rom and Radio.
I know you have tried several radios, but you simply missed the compatible one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614119
see my posts in that thread.
apart from my provider having problems every now and then, I have not lost my connection again after flashing the right Radio.

i have tried both the 2.13 stock rom radio and then the stock 3.14 combo both did not work.
resolved
received the new phone 3 days ago, so far have not lost service. It must have been a hardware issue with my phone. im using the same radio rom as the old phone except no signal loss, for anyone who is having the issue it may be worth calling tmobile to exchange your phone for a new/refurbished one.

[Q] [Help] Has anyone met such auto-restart issue on Omnia7?

I met the auto restart issue by several times on my Omnia7.
It occures sometime on IE and marketplace data loading. When the IE / Marketplace is getting data from web through Wifi / 3G, it hangs for about 2-3 second and then the phone restart / reboot automatically. It's much easier to happen when loading a large size web page in IE.
Does anyone have met this kind of issue or know the reason?
Thanks.

Turn phone off and remove battery for 10s min. Then start the phone again. If problems continue and you have a Samsung or carrier support center near you, make them update the firmware to a new one and see if problem is solved.

Thanks for help. It doen't happen so frequently. I've done phone reset and also flashed it into another rom. But the issue is still there.
I've just update it into the new 7008 OS by Zune software yesterday. Hope it could be resolved.
It happened to me once. Just once. FYI, been using this phone for 2 months and it only happened once
Happens to me sometimes on HD7. Not on the Omnia 7 though
It seems not only IE and market place. I met it again yesterday that one app which uses Map control made it crash with Wifi connection. I think that might be because of some data receiving problem on Wifi part.
I've had this happen once since I had the phone in November last year. It was in marketplace, the phone froze and then rebooted itself. This was last week.
I have not installed the update. Like I say this is the first time it's ever happened.
It is most definitely firmware related.
I sent my phone to repair (SIM card reader broken), and they flashed an unbranded rom on it(that was an unexpected extra) and the JK1 firmware. Now I don't have random restarts anymore.
It happened to me twice Yesterday. My omnia runs the 7008 firmware.
I changed my SIM card and hope the problem will no longer appear.
Do you solve this problem in the meantime?

Your comment makes me believe the problem is SIM-card related. I've heard of phones randomly rebooting by faulty SIM-cards. I know HTC's problem is mostly mainboard related. Sure do hope it's not a hardware failure. I'll try it for another week or so. If it happens again I'll send it for repair.
I have the same problem. I just have a new Omnia 7 from repair, and the new one already rebbot 3 times since yesterday!
Any idea why?
Is your omnia 7 warm? If it's warm, you must to change your CPU, your cpu is overheat.
Problem will go away. It costs about $75.
I suffer reboots
I suffer from the rebooting problem, sometimes randomly reboots when accessing data (3G also). Well, I believe this is when it happens as it happens a lot!
There have been occasions where the phone gets stuck rebooting and sits with the Samsung Omnia 7 splash screen for ages before powering down; or reboots in a loop.
I tried updating the bootloader with Samsungs tool (after putting the phone in download mode), I've since tried flashing different ROMs and non of them have fixed it.
Currently using:
Phone: I8700XXKB3
PDA:I8700XXKB2
CSC:I8700XENJK1
OS Version 7392
It's so frustrating, it's been to a Samsung 'repair centre' but they just seemed to factory reset it and claimed it was fixed. Next step is send it back to Samsung and hope they fix or replace it for me.
VERY annoying as I cannot use the phone at times when I'm out which is worrying.
I was listening to music, browsing facebook and doing several thing at once with case cover on; then i took off phone from cover and it was very hot, so i supposed it was a over heat problem...
it just happened once for me
I tested this with the SIM in my phone and the SIM out of my phone. It made no difference - I received random restarts in both cases.
It's definitely software related though, as I never received these crashes before upgrading to Mango RTM. Not saying it is Mango, but maybe something to do with the firmware installed in the process of upgrading?
I am really hoping that the official Samsung upgrade to Mango includes new firmware and that it fixes the issue. If not I'm getting rid of this phone, I don't want a phone with features I can't even use. I got a full phone crash the other day when just trying to view a map.
I have it also it only happens when I search websites with the Bing search button. I search websites that I already know that exist and even trough the phone is connected (most of time via Wifi) it shows no results and then restarts. I think any ROM replacement will fix it as I have tried them all without success.
Definetly the issue has something to do with Bing services
Hi I had some random reboots but just a few ones like maybe 3 or 4 in 6 months but since I installed Mango beta, it starts to reboot randomly like you on IE or marketplace but removing the battery a few minutes used to fix this.
I thought it was firmware problem so I flashed it with a lot of different firmwares ( now i have KC1 ) but It didn't solve the problem even worst, now my Omnia 7 is stuck in a boot loop.
I suceeded to make it work for a few hours playing games or using bing maps after puting the phone in the fridge for a few minutes. Now the phone wont charge because of bootlooping so even the "fridge fix" doesn't work. Maybe I will try to change the battery but here in france it's really hard to find Omnia 7 stuffs. Maybe its firmware problem because my phone dont look so hot but it acts like overheat problem. Maybe trying to calibrate the temperature sensor by diagnosis if someone knows how to. I'm ok to try it =)
If someone can give us the normal temperature of their omnia 7 maybe we can compare and try to find the solution.
Thanks for reading my bad english ! =D

Missing calls with official 2.3.5

Hello everyone;
I flashed the latest official 2.3.5 last night. Missed three calls afterwards, as if I was not connected to GSM network. I was at home and signal was stable as usual. Anyone else noted unusual GSM behaviour?
Cheers
----------------------------------------
UPDATE: In order to better understand this issue, it could be interesting to know which service providers are being used; in my case, TMN in Portugal.
One week before flashing this ROM, I started using 3G, so I'm not sure if these missing calls are as result of the ROM change. I'm going to switch back to 2G for daily use and see how it goes.
Yes, if you search you will find other users with the same problem.
happens also with the other beta roms.
Sent from my U8800 using XDA App
It happens to me too unfortunately.. can't tell the reason why. GSM status seems ok.
I confirm this missing call issue.
People when ring me the first time they go straight to voicemail and only get connection on second try.
I think the only way to solve it is Huawei but there is not point of trying to speak to them and they just won't listen for what people say to them.
I can confirm this is happening to me too....after reporting all was well this was one of the things I didn't test out.
Weird thing is that I called my mobile from home and both went straight to voicemail...
yep.
but if you immediatly make a 2nd attempt you get connection
OK try this...
Turn off phone... re move battery and sim card.
Replace battery and start phone without sim card and boot up.
Unlock phone and open any app (doesn't matter just do something)
Turn off, remove battery, replace sim.... boot up again.
Just called from my wifes mobile phone and my phone rang OK.... will test further but that seems to have done the trick for now.
I got the same problem and so far nothing i did solve it... Just missing reinstall the rom again and see if wasnt any bug i got while installing... I don't see too many ppl with the same problem and i don't belive huawei had so many diferent hardwares in a single mobile phone model according with all the different ppl have with different phones.
I also have this problem with the new firmware. My phone doesn't connect to the network upon powering on.
I have to manually connect it, by going into the Mobile networks settings. Once i'm in that menu, it connects.
druida_69,
I can confirm that does not happens every time, I tested from other phone I only on the sixth call I got the ring... Worst, during this time I made a call without problems.
The question is on reception...
Sent from my U8800 using XDA App
this issue is killing me.
when I have the device disconnected or in a cal, when someone try to ring me and can't I always receive a message informing that the xxxx number tried to ring you at that time bla bla bla.
no calls
The same thing happened to me... also tried many things without success... downgraded to 2.2.2 (B138) problem solved...
I'm getting tired of huawei's poor support and buggy updates!!!
To be honest i don't know if this start to happen after or before installing geno‘s OC Kernel.
I can confirm that this happens when the phone stays for a long time inactive. Try not playing with you're phone gore 20 minutes or so and then try to ring youselves.
Its like if the phone entering in a zen deep sleep....
Same here
Started after updating to 2.3.5, anyone tried the updated 2.3.5 from Huawei? it removes the pink screen I heard, but maybe it fixes this issue
F****** Huawei. Just realised that I have this bug too with latest 2.3.5 release... I think that it's data dependent. If you turn them off it connects ok...
I didn't realize until I read this thread, but I have the same problem!
I'm over it, I'm going back to Oxygen until I can buy a new phone, and will probably never buy huawei again.
I had this problem initially but since I booted up without sim card and boot up again with it in hasn't been a problem...I've had to test this on a few different phones & reboots now and everything is fine....

[Q] Galaxy y switching off randomly for unknown reasons

hi friends,
i have a peculiar problem with my sgy now. it started showing for past 1 month. my galaxy y turns off itself randomly.some times it may happen from my pocket ,some times it happens when the phone is not used for a long time and kept idly, it happens also when attending a call. so i am not sure that its not deep sleep switch off problem. this happens both in stock and custom rom or kernels.i have tried many combinations of it. After turning on the phone from random shut down setcpu shows unclean shut down warning and network fails to register to a network for more than 5 mins. i need to manually scan for network. Guys how can i find the reason for the shut down? is there any logs which shows the reason for shutdown? how i can i solve this? is the a problem due to ageing of my sgy? any sort of help is appreciated.
its most likely a kernel problem - if changing kernels doesnt solve it best thing to solve all problems is just to flash stock rom via odin and start again

hi friends,
i have a peculiar problem with my sgy now. it started showing for past 1 month. my galaxy y turns off itself randomly.some times it may happen from my pocket ,some times it happens when the phone is not used for a long time and kept idly, it happens also when attending a call. so i am not sure that its not deep sleep switch off problem. this happens both in stock and custom rom or kernels.i have tried many combinations of it.

I had a similar problem a few months after receiving my SGY (a few years ago now). It was new at the time so I swapped it twice under guarantee but without success - even the replacement SGY's did the same. I also got the SIM changed twice since they thought my old SIM caused the issue. Still no success.
The solution was to change from the provider, Vodafone, who I had been using for several years. Fortunately the new provider used the same frequencies and I could keep my number.
I suspect that the culprit was Vodafone's version of 4G, which was being tested downtown at the time before rolling out elsewhere. The crash/reboots wouldn't happen at home in the suburbs just downtown where I worked in the city center and where Vodafone was doing their early testing.
My new provider installed their own 4G system a year or so later but without causing issues so I am still with the new provider.
Perhaps you could try a cheap PrePaid SIM from a different provider: maybe it solves your problem?
Yeah !
