[Q][HELP] Bricked Sprint Galaxy Tab - Galaxy Tab General

Alright i need some help. ive done as much google/xda searching as my eyes can handle and i still cant figure out this problem.
I have a Sprint Galaxy tab im rooted via Z4root.
by Screwing around with flashing new kernels i some how screwed my tab up and im stuck.
The tab is in an endless black screen to "samsung" boot screen loop. the screen keeps flashing from the beginning of the samsung boot screen to a black screen.
I can get it into Download mode but that is about it.
if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

That happened to me after flashing the AT&T stock ROM to my Sprint tab just to see what would happen.
I used Odin and flashed Download 1 - Stock, no modem - Sprint Only! from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869819 and that fixed it for me, then went back to ROTO JME v4.
I killed the modem intentially on mine to make it WIFI only, not sure if this helps or not.
What have you tried to recover your Tab so far?
M.

I tried connecting my tab to oden with no luck so I've just kinda been stuck...when I get home I'm going to try the link you supplied hoping I can get this damn tab working. Thanks in advance ill post back with the results.

Is there any way to get 3G back on my tab? i dont care about gps.... only 3g

US Tmo tab JJB...what are my options?!?

OK so i've had my tab for about two weeks and i can't get a clear answer as to what my options are for flashing my device. I see many JMC and JJ6 and I'm really lost. I know there are many models of this tab but i want to know for the American tmobile tab specifically.
the firmware i have says JJB...What are my options as far as to flashing to a new firmware?
Is there an official upgrade?
I will only use it for data and not voice calls, so i want to have 3G. I would like a fix to the lag in the calendar and browser.
Can any of the firmwares help me?
I also installed Kies with drivers and it doesn't see my tab? Do i have to be in download mode for Kies to see my tab?
Thank you very much for your time.
Same boat as you. awaiting some guidance as well.
Same thing here. Kies doesn't recognize my tab and I'm on JJB. Changing your IMEI works though, allowing for 3G and bypassing the T-Mobile redirect. I'm on the old school 5.99 T-zones plan and getting unlimited 3g .
same here there is very little guidance and very helpful people but I can't seem to just get a simple question answered here or there to feel comfy enough to flash my new tab, I know you want rotojme because there are no bootstraps installed. I know the koush clockwork mod kernel installs ext4 file system which is great but I can't remember where to put the files I need to adb? lol Im a mess cause its been since the g1 that I have ever adb anything.
Has anyone using JJB taken the leap of upgrading to a better firmware? How did you do it?
Any advise would be appreciated.

Thought I was the only one. All this jmc jme and j whatever. Is killing me. Need guidence on this matter

Seems like it is safe to flash the new roto jme rom. It.s in the development section.

JJB is possible
Happy New Year.
New roto's rom is working great. So far I flashed 6 units no problem. They were all JJB. Here is bottom line.
Current status, No voice and 3G possible.
Users have 2 options.
1. 2G(EDGE) with Voice by flasing (Euro Rom)
2. 3G only (with IMEI Mod)
I appreciate Rotohammer's hardwork for this.
If you need more detail, check out following blog at
sooparkhero.blogspot.com
It will go through step by step tutorials.
Can't wait for there to be a tutorial on how to flash a T-mo tab and get 3G. That's all I'm waiting for.
I went through the same mess with mine. I finally just flashed the full jm6 for samfirmwares.com and then just the pda piece of jmc. Since then i used rotos pre rooted jme. Again by just flashing the pda piece. The day after i flashed jm6 is wheb all this talk about different bootloaders came up, so im not sure which boat i am in but i could care less. This jme is ridiculous compared with stock tmo firmware. I am happy enough.with it for this to be the final state of my tab. Lower the lcd density a bit for a better looking tab and remove the contents of your efs folder(AFTER backing it up) for the imei mod that frees you from the webconnect plan and you are set
Issues with roms
There has been some issues with new roms. The issue is once you flash into one of these roms you can't revert back to old one. Here is related link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071
Professionals recommand not to use these roms until they are modified and further tested.

[Q] No Boot Screen or Recovery Mode with RotoHammers JME v4 on AT&T Tab?

Any fix for this?
Maybe Roto can interject, but it's possible that CWM will work as a replacement recovery for you. I think this is resolved if you flashed it the "old school" way of going to the full Russian JJ4 rom, and then the Euro roms.
Right, if you go from stock to Roto v4, doing the re-partition, the swirly logo is gone. This happened on my at&t tab, and on a T-mo tab I set up for a friend. I get a black screen with a thin white line.
I do not get the same issue with roto JME v4 here (Unbranded UK version from Tesco, Went from stock to rotoJME).
Maybe something region specific i guess.

God knows where it is, but there is a fix for the white line somewhere in the roto thread.
Im on a us tmobile tab and do not have this issue

Roto,
Could i flash the AT&T Tab the other way (russian then euro) and possibly get my boot screen back? If i flashed stock would I get the screen back?
To be honest I am still trying to figure out what can and cannot be done with this device. With my captivate I have the hacking procedures down to a science.
Right now I'd like to simply have the phone capabilties but with all the boot screens and recovery modes, and the ability to revert to stock for warranty exchange purposes. I've read through these forums extensively, but I am unaable to piece everything together to get the setup I am looking for.
I too am having this issue.
Search my post you'll find the solution in the dev section and general section.
Basically just flash JJ4_Bootloaders.zip posted by rotohammer.

weeping and gnashing of teeth to upgrade for dj30 to ea24

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this but I figured I'd post this experience I had trying to upgrade the firmware on my Sprint Galaxy tab so that other might benefit.
Here goes; I got a brand new galaxy tab with the dj30 firmware on it. I rooted it and did the wifi supplicants trip to get adhoc networks going. Nothing too strange. Then the system tried to auto updated itself to ea24 which I let it. But after I checked it it seems that the upgrade couldn't get through. This process would repeat itself on a regular basis.
I didn't think much about it until I heard that netflix could be played on certain android devices and I of course wanted to play it on my tab. I side loaded it, changed the system props and saw that it still couldn't play. My first attempt to load a custom rom(the ginger for gsm failed, yes I know they're incompatible)which bricked the phone. What then followed was an orgy of flashing anything vaguely related to the tab to get it to at least power on. The only thing that would work was the dj30 base image.
Now I'm back to square one except that my navigation system no longer works so I flash modem.bin from ea24 which fixed the gps. My tab tried to auto update itself to ea24 like it usually tries to do but this time SUCCESS!. Then two more ota updates came after that and worked just as well.
I think flashing the modem might have been what got the upgrade process going.
Sorry if this is a little long I just figured it might be useful to anyone in the same situation.
Can you Pls point me in the direction to get thus modem? I too am having this problem. [email protected]. Pls email it to me if you have. THANKS

Hey Cruton. Seems you and I are in the same position. I'm also stuck on DJ30. Managed to upgrade to rooted gingerbread, but market and browser fc no matter what I try. Your suggestion is something I haven't tried yet. Could you elaborate a bit more? I tried flashing modem.bin (from the EA24 updater) but it freezes up. Do I load it under "phone" in odin? Also, which version were you using?
Cruton. Thank you so much for going through the effort of posting your experience. You have saved my tab. I didn't know what to do anymore. Your trick worked, received all updates OTA and then I received gingerbread OTA. Everything stable and running after two weeks of trying absolutely everything (as I was in EXACTLY the same position as you, so you know how frustrating it is). I wish I could buy you a beer man. Thanks again.

I haven't had trouble with the market or the browser. I believe it was version 1.7 of Odin and I put modem.bin into the Phone section. Interestingly I had to repeat this entire process when the gingerbread update was out. I had to try 3 times with flashing modem.bin because it kept freezing up but it went through eventually. Good luck.

Samsung warranty after root/recovery/ROM?

After installing CWM recovery, kernel, root, and CM7 on a Vzw Tab, is it possible to fully restore it back to stock so that Samsung will honor the warranty?
Friend of mine's Tab is having some screen issues and the warranty expires in about two weeks.
Is it possible or is he SOL?
Thanks

Yes he can. There is a stock ROM EC02 that is flashable using a program called Heimdall. It takes you back so Verizon would never know.

Sweet! Thank you much.
I saw some posts about stock ROMs floating around, but wasn't sure that the kernel, recovery, and EXT4 could all be restored back to stock.

I have an AT&T Galaxy Tab and that link doesn't work for me. I've tried everything I possibly could to try to get this thing back to something I can use that doesn't reboot when I try to use the keyboard. I've done search after search and it never provides me with any information that's helpful to getting it back to a workable condition. I've come across the link above numerous times and I've tried to use those instructions over and over with no success.
I really think it's worth pointing out that constantly pointing people to these directions isn't helpful to those trying to restore a non-Verizon Tab. It's done zero good to me with my AT&T Tab.

But I clearly asked about a Verizon Tab and he replied with Verizon Tab-related info. That's a helpful thing.
On the other issue, the last thing you want to do with an AT&T Tab is try and use CDMA (Verizon/Sprint) ROMs. This is probably why your Tab is screwed.
Stick to GSM/ATT ROMs and you'll probably have better luck.
I've tried to find AT&T ROMs and none have worked so far.
Every time I search on this subject here I get sent to the Verizon fix.
I had the same problem, for some reason the older versions of Android that was posted on here haven't worked for me. Pretty much all the links provided in the instruction posts on turning the tab into a phone had Froyo 2.2 links. However I downloaded the Gingerbread rom 2.3.3 and flashed it and it works now:

Don't forget to reflash the radio you want.
Hello everyone!
Is it possible to use the Market, after making the ROOT?
thank you
P.S i want to by the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 can i recover the Original Rom with HEIMDALL suit?
Yea you can still use market after you root.

phone soft bricked, tried odin didn't work

The vibrant i was rooting needed to be reverted back to stock in order to root. I launched odin and download mode on the phone and put in the tar and pit files to revert it to stock. After doing this, the phone was soft bricked, when i turn it on it only shows the Vibrant screen and then turns off and on again. Recovery mode won't boot up, it gives a fuzzy screen, however Download mode still works. I tried multiple times to use odin and flash a stock rom again, but it resulted with the same vibrant screen turning on and off again.
I reinstalled and updated drivers, tried using the command prompt to launch recovery(this led to "error:device not found"), tried one click unbrick programs, all to no avail.
Is there any other solutions? Thanks
First thing I must ask, what is the device model number? Does it have front camera?
I must ask these questions as there have been a lot of people posting in this section with a T-Mobile Samsung galaxy s 4g (sgh-t959v) or with the Telus galaxy s vibrant (gt-i9000m.)
If you indeed are in the right place, T-Mobile galaxy s vibrant (sgh-t959) you can try the vibrant AIO toolbox. You can DL it in this thread

You can find more info about it here but I think the DL links aren't working, that's why I gave the other link.

Toolbox is no good :/ still have the same issue. usb debugging may not have been turned on...i'm pretty sure it was on because the phone was upgraded to gingerbread via kies before
edit: yea it has a front camera and it's a t959
No its a t959v, the t959 never got upgraded to gingerbread and doesn't have a front camera unless you added it.

I am not the original asker but I as well have a problem and I don't want to start waves of simillar questions. Soft Bricked my phone yesterday by overlooking a most likely common mistake. I flashed CLM Recovery but accidently selected the wrong model UGHHH! Now I get the T Mobile Screen and I can get into download mode, thats it. I am aware of this Vibrant AIO ToolBox but Im not sure how it works and I am aware of ODIN which I have also never used. I downloaded ODIN and it does recognize my device. It looks pretty simple to use although I may be wrong. One of my major problems is I can not download any Stock OS Roms because the range at about 200mb and I am currently staying with a relative that has dial up. I dont know if I could get something faster through email. What I would like is step by step instructions on how to get my phone back to stock or somewhat functional. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we all know how hard it can be without your phone. Thanks, J

Your also in the wrong thread. Don't flash any files from this section. This is for T959 not T959v.
You can find files to flash your phone back to a working state over in the Samsung Galaxy S 4G section of the forums.

Head over to the SGS 4g section and look through the stickied threads. They should have the files you need as well as instructions. The steps for your device are probably identical to the vibe but I don't want to steer you wrong. Your biggest problem will probably be getting Odin to recognize your device. Try different USB cables and different com ports. You might have to manually load drivers on the computer. Good luck.
No tickee, no laundry!
Be careful with odin
what stock are you trying to flash? 2.2.1 or 2.2? Because some stock can fry your motherboard, like my vibrant, and then the phone is unusable....

what files did you put into odin to upgrade to 2.3.5? the newest stock rom the t959 officially got for odin was 2.2.
if your phone can still get into download mode, you can use the vibrant AIO to return it to stock.

Sounds like a brick, sorry.
Try plugging into charged and see what you get.
You also might try a jig to see if you can get it back in DL mode. Also try heimdall one click.
If all else fails go to
www.mobiletechvideos.com
They do JTAG repair and also sell the jig.
