Update 3.1.01.5.0032 is now available. The description stated that the update was for memory optimization. The initial boot after the update took just over 5 minutes. Hopefully it's not that long all of the time. I haven't used it much since the update. I will report back after I use it for a while and give an update on how it's working.

OK so after using my Thrive for a few hours I have noticed that the lag I was getting from update 0029 is gone along with the lockups I was having. So far it's looking good.

Yes, I had been beta testing it for the last week. Seems real smooth. No issues have been noted.
Meanwhile here in Aus we haven't got a single update and are still on 3.0.1. Well glad to hear you guys are getting updates rolled out. ^^

You coud download the CWM recovery backup of 0032 (latest 3.2 load) and install CWM recovery. Install the backup and you would have the latest. I already had to help one individual that blindly rooted his Ausi Thrive with the 009 US 3.1 load and put his device into a boot loop. He is now running the 0029 HC 3.1 load with no issues.
While here in Japan we received a 3.1.02.5.0005 update a week and a half ago ...
silly question, feel free to flame...but does doing the update break root? i know in phones it does just not too sure about HC and tablets...

Well, kinda. You can not update without unrooting.
Having some trouble updating
Whenever I try to update it shows the Android with a Yellow triangle with an Exclamation point in him.
My thrive is rooted with the Netflix fix, should I just unroot and try it or should I try more drastic measures?
Also dalepl will you have another auto-rooter for 32?

You have to unroot to ba able to update. I do not think you would have to undo the NetFlix fix, but to be safe, I would. As for a root tool for 0032, it is already posted on ThriveForums.org and TabletRoms.com.
Just would like to say hi to everyone here. I am new to this forum and recently purchased a thrive....few questions on the update.
Anyone experience a slower/laggy performance after this update? To me, seems it was running better before.
Also, if I reset the tab, will the update revert back to the way it was 2 days ago when I first purchased it?
Thanks in advance...looking forward to learning more and eventually rooting this baby...after I edumikate meself on all that..lol

No, mine seems fine. It seems that a couple of individuals have reported this same thing. A full reset might be a good idea. As for revering back, no. It is already updated.

Thanks Paul. I will try a reset. I assumed that a sw update was kind of like any app install and that a reset would return it to factory (as purchased).
Is there a such thing as a "hard reset" that will do this rather than the reset through the os?

Th updatews actually replace or patch the OS on the device. The device uses this image when reset So, no, there is no way to just reset the device to revert back to a different load. You can flash the previous load back onto the device.

But correct me if I am wrong...I need root to do that right?
If that is the case, I am not ready to do right now because of lack of experience, root being fairly new and want to make sure I do want to keep this....have 14 days to return to BestBuy.
Thanks again for all your help and sorry if we got a bit off topic.

Yes, you will need root.
Another odd thing I am seeing since the new update, is every time I reboot, if I go into the task manager to see all my open applications... After about a minute or so, I notice there is an app in there that says MIPerroractivity, when I click app info it says it is an app called com.sec.app.MIPErrorNotifier. Why is this automatically open like an app in my task manager when I reboot? Any ody else seeing this?

Same here. Not sure what this is, and if I should just freeze it using Titanium backup. Searched google and the first hit was this post
One of the subsequent posts indicates that this app existed on the S3 late last year too - http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...ng-galaxy-s3-sprint-version-stock-rooted.html
Same here! I'm wondering if we rename it to .bak at the end if that will affect anything... anyone willing to test that lol?

QUESTION: Is everyone here running the latest KT Kernel. Bc when I reverted back to the MF9 kernel, I didn't get that anymore...
I am bone stock, haven't even rooted it yet. First time I haven't rooted a phone right out of the gate.

Same here just updated this morning. Bone stock and not rooted. Shows up after every reboot.
I did the update myself not via ota. Did everyone else here do it that way? Or did you receive the update via ota?
Maybe its somehow related to the way sprint is rolling out the update?

Happy I found this thread! Thought it was only me. I flashed the MF9 zip, and I'm using KT kernel.
The thing running doesn't really bother me, I'd just like to know what it's for. I kill it every time I reboot anyway

Should I have? I used Odin to get to stock MDL, then flashed the MF9 zip in recovery. Nothing else. Why would I need to flash the modem if the modem is in the OTA?

Did the same thing.
I also get this PITA notice.
Only thing I have been able to find so far is it appears to have something to do with "Mobile IP ERRor".
I will not claim to know what this means.
I have noticed that I have no cell service while roaming at home anymore.
Hopefully, this is because I am slightly (1/4 mile) outside of the official roaming service area.
I am hoping I can reset the phone profile once I get back into Sprint's network later today.
I am also not sure if this is related to MY upgrading to MF9 using the manual ZIP from SD card method and not waiting for the official OTA update.
I already posted that I did the ota stock non rooted and it appears for me.

After a bit of review
Ok, so I've been doing a little testing this AM to see if I could get to the bottom of this error.
After rebooting, locking and unlocking a ton of times I've decided its related to wifi connecting on the initial boot.
After a while I started noticing a pattern in relation to the toast message that pops up when it initially connects to wifi and the error showing up.
To confirm my theory, I removed the local wifi at my office, and on reboot, no error.
I have zero clue on how to fix the issue, but just wanted to point any devs looking into this in the right direction.
Additional notes, I'm stock, not rooted, and updated via the sdcard method.

galaxy s4
Has anyone totally deleted it (not freeze it, but DELETE IT) from system/apps ??
I cannot enable wifi since I updated to 4.3 today. I've tried everything I know and wifi will not toggle on.
I am so frustrated!
I was rooted before the update and lost root afterwards FYI for anyone who has root using 4.2.2
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I did see a message saying something about it not finding something on my SD card but not sure if the message (that flashed briefly) had anything to do with this issue or not.
Restarting the phone doesn't help.
My S4 is useless to me without wifi.
I have done a factory data reset and wiped all data. Still having the same issue.

I'm familiar with rooting somewhat and figured for sure I'd lose root. I didn't know about the wifi issues though. I'm really not a dumb butt (and I'm not suggesting that's what you're saying exactly), it's just that after searching and searching for a primary thread and not finding one on the issue, I went ahead and did the update being fine with potentially losing root temporarily till another root option came out.
I feel like a dumb butt because I still cannot find the thread that you're talking about. Maybe I'm just overwhelmed. I have no idea why but my continued searches are still turning out fruitless for finding any info on wifi troubles at all except for people in Germany on different carriers.
Will someone kindly point me in the right direction for the thread you're referring to and in the right direction as to how I can flash my phone back to stock/unrooted?
I was just excited to get this update and have never ran into issues like this before with updating OTA on other devices, except for losing root.
I really do appreciate any help and I'm sorry for having a putz moment.
Garry.

A couple days ago I noticed that my S4 wouldn't turn on WiFi. I would "flip the switch" in the WiFi settings and it would stay in the on position but grayed out, then after about ten seconds it would switch back to off. At the time my phone was rooted but wasn't not on a custom rom, but had simple things done, like xposed installed and some modules. I think the problem is that I tried using the WiFi tether TreVe mod and it didn't work while I was traveling. When I got to a place with WiFi it didn't work and that was when I noticed the problem. Since then I have tried everything from updating the baseband, flashing Cyanogen mod, to even unrooting and re-rooting the phone but all with no success to getting my WiFi to work. This is my first post to any forum so much help would be appreciated! Thanks!

You can get the latest from this forum or sammobile.com (Sammobile is a little slow downloading) and flash it using Odin. There are several tutorials as well. Just search this forum and/or Google and you should easily find it.

Flashing firmware did it for me. Thanks!
Hi guys
I have a spare phone now my son upgraded, the S5 SM-G901F. I thought it wound be fun to install another software, possibly more up to date. So I first set out to root it but I haven't played around much with this sort of thing for long while.
I googled and found it seemed to be Odin to use so I downloaded 3.10. Also downloaded cf root. I went into download mode and when I plugged it in, the light in Odin lit up showing successfully connected. When I added the cf file and clicked start it went through some steps but stuck at Recovery. Img and wouldn't progress further.
I tried multiple times, tried a different cable and USB port and also Odin 3.07 and a different cf file even though I think it was the same one but from a different site. All no better.
Originally I bought it a few years back, used from a colleague. I think it was a carrier phone, EE iirc, and I had to get a code to unlock the SIM to use with mine. Maybe that also means it's software is locked?
Any help much appreciated
Thanks, marc

well to be honest, i would need to spend some time, "Googling" your model .... . I believe , your S5 is a Dev phone, meaning, it was not set up for any carrier, just for running demo's and such. IF this is true, I have no true answer for you.
Odin yes, you need that, that is true! (Believe 3.07, 3.09 and 3.10 work the best for these phones. Had tried a very newer version, several month back, and it did not do the job.. something like 3.14 or 16)
I recommend going to Sam Mobile, and run your model # through them. They will give you all the info about your model and possibly the latest firmware for it.
Sorry that I can not give you all that you are needing. I just don't know a ton about those S5 Plus models. (( I had to even look 'em up too) the plus has a slight better chip was well as graphics, but again, I dont know of any that actually work on a modern carrier like sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile , etc.)
Thanks for the reply mate.
It definitely isn't a Dev phone, my colleague definitely had it on contact from a carrier initially.
I hadn't actually realised or noticed it being a Plus model as some sites mention the Plus and some don't.
Any other help from anyone appreciated

OK, Was only going off your model # you had given.
Did check... Odin and a good copy of CF auto root... That should be that.
Then of course, get away from a really old non sucure os (6.01 MM was their last made) .
Other than those 2 pieces, you should be good to root
Not pushing, or anything but LineageOS is rather good and does run well on these!
Plus, get a monthly security injection!

Well, I would have to say NOPE!
Well only trying to keep your Q, on the top, so folks that might know, could help!
BTW, when I looked your model up, totally different CPU and GPU, which might need a different CF auto root zip, or a different one to actually work... Since hardware is different.
Just guessing on that, but, could be wrong. Rather busy at the moment, but will look up your specs again, and see if I find something for ya.
Mean time, Hopefully someone could chime in and point you towards the correct path to take...
OH
Q- What sort Recovery do you currently have? (Stock or custom (e.g. TWRP))
Might want to check for one for your phone.
I would actually start with TWRP, see what they have for ya.
( Will need Odin for this! BUT, once you have a Recovery in/on the phone, then you could use Magisk to root ot try CF and see 8f that works for you (I use Majisk) Plus add in the fact that you should make a Back up, of your current system! In case of issues, you can always jump back to Stock. )

Cheers mate. So, some progression.
Firstly i didn't have a custom recovery or root. I was getting stopped at the first hurdle.
So, i figured it had something to do with it using a carrier firmware, EE, in the UK. So i found a stock European firmware and successfully used odin to flash it. Then i flashed CF root and TWRP. All good.
So with new confidence i flashed Resurrection Remix Android 9. Although it seemed to have worked, each time i tried to complete set up, straight after imputting my gmail address, the screen was black. Not BSOD type though, if i pressed home it went back to the home screen to i just couldn't complete set up.
So i tried Lineage and that was a boot loop.
Not sure if part of the issue was Gapps but i was definitely using the correct version. ARM, Android 9, stock.
I gave up, reinstalled the stock Android marshmallow and rooted again and installed TWRP. that's where i am now.
Shame really as i fancied a more up to date OS.
Thanks, Marc

Wait, isn't what you were wanting?
Well at least you now have a Recovery installed! Now, with that of course you can now make a back up of your stock!!!
( other words,.. MAKE A BACK UP! That way, you only have to wipe the system, data, cache and BAM, in the Flash of zip, your back at square one...)
OK, not sure if you picked up a new info about LineageOS, across the pond....
But
They ran into some issues, (soon and hopefully sooner, it will be fixed). Now, after that, they will be dropping LineageOS 17.1 Official!! Yes, for Galaxy S5 too
So, keep an eye out for that, cause am in same Boat, waiting for the Official release.
( personal, I run LineageOS, Magisk (Root and some goodies.. Unfortunately I do tend to add Ggogle, but like Pico, nothing larger. Do flash a kernel also. That said, rather stable, and most everything works) at least for me.... Just waiting for Official 17.1 to roll out! (like just about anyone left that has these phones...)
