3g problems?? Been searching, no luck.

Hey guys, I'm on my second fascinate...returned the first one because I couldn't stay connected to 3g for any length of time. For example, trying to stream pandora or youtube would always drop out / buffer and not reconnect. After getting my second phone I am still having this problem. When I finally do get connected it's terribly slow and soon drops out. Thought it may have just been reception first but my original droid worked prefect in the same areas (i live maybe 50ft from the verizon tower lol) and have the same problems in other cities too.
I've learnt to live with the audio playback pops and gps in hopes that they get fixed in an ota, but haven't really heard much about a fix for this. Really hope someone can help, love the phone aside from this problem, but it kind of makes paying $30 extra for a smart phone feel well, dumb

Give Verizon a call, there are some internal settings on the phone that they can adjust that might help. They did that for me it involved going into the dialer and putting in some number i forgot what it was, but i then had to enable something, and we went through the screens. They had me change one setting that gave me a more consistent signal.

It was something with 9s in it haha. And I called verizon, ended up changing some of my cdma settings through the dialer... Really wish I had wrote down all the steps because it took me deep into menus that aren't changeable without the codes.... Either way, it's somewhat better but I wouldn't say that completely fixed my problem.

3g still drops out much to frequently. when I get service, it seems quicker but youtube or downloading a large file are still impossible....

No one else is having this problem or found a fix? I'm at wits end, feel like spiking my phone onto the pavement at times lol

I just yesterday got a replacement Fascinate, with that issue being one of my reasons for exchanging it. So far, I don't seem to be seeing any such issues, but time will tell. If the issue comes back, I might try falling tech support for those dialer codes mentioned here.

[Q] Weird behavior after travelling GPS and Playback

Hi,
So ever since travelling from Australia to Europe my nice toy as been acting strangely.
I have a Note 3 from Telstra running the Telstra stock ROM
Before travelling it was the perfect companion for long trips.
Gained a GPS fix using Co-Pilot or Maps withing seconds of being activated, played movies for hours without stopping, played music constantly and let me listen to Audible books without a problem.
Upon landing in Portugal I found it nearly impossible to get a GPS fix although after 5 or 10 minutes walking around it would grab one for a few seconds
Driving through the English countryside it would grab a lock after 10 minutes or so, hold it for 30 seconds then drop it again.
After arriving back in Australia it seems to have gotten worse
Using GPS Test and GPS status shows that it has sight of 17 satellites but doesn't get a lock on any of them even after ten minutes of so. If I do a lot of walking or driving it will eventually grab a fix for a short time then "loose" all signals.
I know there have been some threads about GPS issues but they all seemed related to software induced bugs or network specific ones. From what I could see Telstra ROMS don't really have a huge issue with this.
Next my playbacks have started to act up.
Watching a video on VLC or the inbuilt Video player is fine but the playback seems to stop around 30 minutes and requires you to press play again
The same is happening for other Audio related playback either using google's music player or Audible.
It also seems to have major problems deciding which WiFi network to use, swapping constantly between available know networks.
Any ideas that don't require a hard reset or flashing ROMS would be gratefully received

I don't have the playback issues but I also don't watch videos on it but I DO have issues with GPS on two 4.4.2 phones. However, both of these lose the GPS signal only in the afternoon, usually between about 15:00 and 19:00. Outside of those times it seems to be OK, not that I ever tested it in the middle of the night, though.
What firmware are you on?

i highly suggest updating to the UK ND3 firmware. solved issues for a lot of aussies in the aussie thread.

Keep in mind that the Note3 GPS seems to work MUCH better in ASSISTED mode (over mobile data) than in the stand-alone mode.

It is but there is no way back to 4.3 and with a UK Rom I don't think Samsung will even look at it here.

Can I also ask what exactly it looks like when it loses the signal for gps. Mine both go from full strength no nothing in a few seconds, without being moved, then out looks like gps restarts and where the satellites view normally has them scattered all over the place there is the only one blob at 12 o'clock.

Sure I repliedbut it isn't showing up so here goes again.
Most of the time the phone says or can see 18 or more satelites but locks on none, I am guessing this see IA what the aGPS says should be there. I'd it does lock the satellites it locks on are all over one side with an accuracy of about 10 metres. After it locks it doesn't seem to like it and drops all the locks and starts aquiring again. Gets a lock then rinse and repeats forever. It seems add if the aGPS is a few degrees off and that the Note refuses to believe it's own eyes but trusts the aGPS

So just a quick update
After a lot of frustration amd Web searching I found a suggestion to tighten up the screws on the back of my note 3
So I gave it a go, surprisingly enough I found the top four screws were really loose. Tightening them up a few times I.e like wheel nuts doing diagonals then back again seems to have totally fixed my problems. From no lock ever to locking in about 5 seconds.

6.0.1 Bluetooth issue fix?

Hey guys,
this new android related issue where streaming music via bluetooth is a pain in the ass, as there are only two volume levels (absolutely loud and the opposite) is really annoying.
Is there any statement from google, if and when it'll be fixed or is there even a fix already?
I cannot imagine how sth like this got into a final release...

Stream every single day on a 45 minute commute via GPM and Spotify (Bluetooth to car) and never encountered this... Seems odd. I'll keep an eye out but haven't seen it yet!

is a common issue with 6.0.1 and several bluetooth devices (i have a creative roar box), just search the forums here.

I'm usually ok with blue tooth streaming to my car as well as to my Polaris speaker. No issue with my Huawei watch either that I'm aware of.

I'm having a ton of bluetooth issues with this phone sad as I *love* this phone..
But I listen to podcasts daily (while biking/running./in the car) and it keeps cutting out on me.. like 2-3 times/minute.. that's using the bluetooth in-car, as well as two different bluetooth headsets
BTW phone calls are fine - this is just A2DP bluetooth stereo..

Edit - seems worse when I'm near my wifi router; although still having issues w/ wifi off..

I had some issues with bluetooth audio cutting out after the phone had been sitting for a while. I added the media apps (music, youtube) to the not optimized list under battery settings and now it works fine.

stream every day from google music app to my vw golfs system via bluetooth and never cut out once or had any issues. Im stock non rooted 6.0.1

No joy. I did your suggestion in conjunction with a few others and I'm still getting audio hits. Did the following to no avail:
- Uninstalled an app called "gasbuddy" which has been reportedly giving users issues with BT
- Messed with a few settings in Developer Options
- Cleared Cache
Did those listed above plus your suggestion and it still doesn't work properly. The only thing that is (albeit moderately) reliable is to completely unpair, forget device, repair, and update permissions. How frustrating every time I get in the car. Additionally, I've been getting SERIOUS BT phone problems. The caller on the line cannot hear me nearly at all. It's not my car's BT unit either, as I've troubleshooted with other phones. I have to switch to handset speakerphone. I feel like I'm in the 90s again. I'm massively bummed out since I spend a lengthy portion of time in my morning/evening commutes. BT is the one thing I can't do without. What a drag.

Does it work with other Bluetooth devices, or do you have other phones to test in your car? Might be an issue with the car or even something google/hauwei can fix under warranty.

Thanks for the reply but yeah that's what I meant when I said - "as I've troubleshooted with other phones."...
As to your other point, this is actually my second 6p. I RMA'd one a few weeks back for the same issue - I thought the same thing.
So frustrating. Like nailing jell-o to the wall.

I found what was causing my Bluetooth issues with my Chevy Malibu. The app weather bug was messing with my phone Bluetooth and battery drain. After I deleted the app my Bluetooth works fine and my phone now sleeps with doze correctly...

I was having the same issue, both with BT headphones, BT speaker, and my Android Wear watch. I tried factory resets on both phone and watch, and forgetting all BT connections and re-pairing to no avail. I Factory reset my phone again, and didn't add my Amber Weather Widget back to my home screen and all was well. As soon as I added it...Bt went to hell again. Deleted the app and now I'm having no problems. Not sure why a weather app would cause BT to act up, but it sure did in my case.

Uuuh. This is ultra frustrating. Using my smartphone for business and private stuff, so it has to re reliable. Hearing music is a pain in the ass, really. Doesn´t matter if I connect it to my Bose Soundlink Mini, my Philips NFC/Bluetooth Dongle...interruptions all over the place.
BTW: I don´t have any weather widget installed, so I have absolutely no clue what to try next. Delete all paired devices is a no go, really.
PS: And it´s not only interruptions - music kind of gains speed after those interruptions.

Yep,I have the same exact issue with phone calls, the caller cannot hear me at all and I switch to speaker. This is my second phone and they both did the same thing, connects, fine for a few seconds, then gets muted or something and have to switch to speaker. My notes never did this and it's super making me mad! I'm going to call google and try to return this phone. It's BT totally broken.

I might be giving up on the phone very soon. I'm bummed. I really dig it, but BT is such a HUGE part of my life at this point that it's impossible for me to own a phone that falters in that respect. Ugh. How disappointing.
I even signed up for the new Android N beta testing, hoping that would remedy the situation. Nope.

Buffering problems with Twitch

The twitch app will stop streaming after a minute or so. The problem pertains in other apps as well as in chrome. Found a thread on reddit (can't post link because just registered)
there AT&T sent an update and that solved the issue. I am in Europe and my phone is from another EU state. Is there any fix for me? I believe this is a wifi issue as this doesn't happen when on LTE/3G. I haven't received any updates since I got the phone a week ago. Netflix seems to be working fine.

Any insight? This is definitely a wifi problem, since twitch streams just fine over 3/4G. It is most likely related to other numerous wifi problems that the s7/edge have. If so why is it that cell providers in america released fixes and oem phones didn't receive any updates so far? Have samsung released any statements on the matter?
Its kind of a big deal for me.

You dont happen to use a Adblocker that works only on wifi? I have noticed some "streaming" does not work very good with a wifi-adblock.

Nope. This problem is exclusive to s7/s7 edge. There's a couple other threads like this around the web, as well as many other that report wifi issues.

I have the exact same problem. I'm living in Norway (europe) and no fixes from my provider yet. I even returned my phone and got a brand new one today, but the new phone has the exact same buffering issues after watching twitch for 5-10 minutes. What I also noticed is that when the buffering starts, the Internet doesn't work in other apps also. Have to disable and re enable the WiFi. Really hoping to see some genius figure this thing out cause it's 100% an issue with the phone/software for galaxy s7 edge. I had the phone on service 3 times before they finally gave me a new one. What they did was factory reset (which I also did), change WiFi antenna, changed the whole motherboard. Nothing fixed the issue.

Yes, this is exactly how it goes down. Soon as the buffering starts some other apps (neflix, instagram) also don't seem to be working. Normally, I wouldn't reconnect to wifi, but just wait for a minute or two instead.
Now, I've been travelling a lot lately and I noticed that the problem doesn't occur everywhere. Once I was even able to watch twitch for 3-4 days without any interruptions, some other places I was not able to watch it at all, but that was mostly due to ips. So, I suppose it could be a router/ap incompatibility issue, which seems pretty strange as the problem only appears in twitch. What I've also noticed is that if you set quality to high rather than source you can go on for much longer without buffering.
I've received 2 updates (from samsung i guess) since I started this thread. First update about a month ago (some 350mb) didn't fix anything. Second (19 mb) just yesterday, haven't had the time to check properly yet.
The only more or less real solution thaat I found so far is outing the stream to VLC with the TC viewer app (I'd tried doing the similar procedure with mx player and other twitch apps with no success). And if you do that you can even notice where the buffering is supposed to occur, but instead vlc just stops video for a second and continues streaming like nothing hapenned.
So far this whole thing is a mystery to me, but connectivity issues are pretty common with the s7/edge. For example randomly dropping mobile data for prolonged periods of time (~30 minutes) hapenned to both me and a friend.
Ps. Ever since i got this phone i started spending less and less time on watching streams, which I am pretty happy about lol

Hey thanks for sharing your workarounds. I will have to check that out. Yes it might be a router compatibility issue. But then what causes it? It's definitely the g7 edge that doesn't work cause I've had 5 or 6 different phones working flawlessly on my router. It's so weird that this is not a huge problem, only like 3 guys posting they have some issues

I am having the same issue. I dont stream often but i use twitch when i do. Problem is not my wifi. My note 3 did not have any issues. Once i started using the 7 edge is when my buffering issues began.
I have used different devices to watch the stream and they work fine. Is there a download that that i need to do? Or should i take my phone to Sprint?

Wow it is strange to hear that the bug hasn't been fixed yet. I lost my S7 edge ages ago.

Also affects the Galaxy S8+, I got an engineer helping me from the Samsung Members app, sent him logs and he says he is troubleshooting.

Sounds good so far, I am told they believe it's a connection issue and will "investigate". Maybe we'll get a software update.. I don't know.
I'll reply here when they do.

i think i just found a fix not sure tho i watched 1080p twitch stream for about 2h without a problem. i just downloaded an dns changer app and put in google's dns this worked for 2h for me

No good news from me, they eventually just gave up and told me they won't look any further into it since it's a "third party app" despite the problem existing even when using the browser.
Will try your dns fix.
EDIT: DNS didnt do it for me.

This may be a bug that lies very deep in samsung software/hardware, I broke my phone and had to switch to 2013 Note 8 temporarily, and it has a very similar issue - 1080 streams stream for just about 1 second and then stop, sound keeps on streaming. Streams with resolution below 1080 stream just fine though.

Random Wonky Issues Becoming Regular Occurrences

Hi Everyone.
I've been having random issues with the phone since I got it. Over the last several weeks, these random issues;
1. SiriusXM or any Audio App shuts down when listening through headphones - yet less often if just through the phone's speaker.
2. Phone disconnects during conversations in places that have full strength reception and never were/are issues with any other phone.
3. Video (YouTube or phone-recorded) playback will randomly stop playing.
4. Streaming (very rarely done) will fail as well.
None of these things happen for anything text or e-mail related, so I "ass-u-me" there's a glitch in some part of the phone that handles anything audio related.
I seem to be alone with this issue - but I've only gone back 5 pages in this forum to look for similar issues with others. Do you guru's think I've a warrantee issue, or is there something I'm missing.
Not Rooted, Stock Unit on Verizon.

Thanks for the tip Evo. I did as instructed and there's no app running.
So I took the phone down to Verizon and thankfully, I happened twice while with the Tech there. He immediately offered to send me another under warranty.
Sadly ... the replacement has an incredible amount of light-leak-spray from the 2nd screen. Bad enough that it's visible in semi-dark rooms, so I'll be sending that back for them to try again.

I also have the same issue as you. streaming or music player or youtube in general will just stop working for no reason even my data randomly dies out and its unlimited. I'm with t-mobile think ima get it excahnged or a different phone in general. have you found any solutions at all other then exchanging phones. please let me know
