TouchScreen unresponsive when booting from WP7 to Android - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

So I flashed my HD2 to Windows Phone 7 and everything works fine there. However, I tried to Dual Boot and partition my SD card to run Android from SD. I've tried 2 different ROMS and i keep encountering the same problem. When I try to boot into ANDROID it makes it all the way to the UNLOCK SCREEN and then the touch screen becomes unresponsive and says NO SERVICE.
I posted this here because my NAND is WP7. Just wanted to see if anyone could help me out. And by the way my Radio is 2.15.50 I believe because thats what I installed to run WP7 from NAND.
Anything will help!

Are you using android builds that are compatible with magldr? If not, most builds need to have their init.rc files edited to work properly with magldr. There's a thread in the sd android dev section about it, also I have many builds that I edited to work with magldr. What builds are you trying? And are they edited to work with magldr?

Ahhh that might be it. I've tried MDJ's Desire HD v4.6 build and the Desire Z NAND/SD Build thats currently up on the android forums.

What kind of probs are you having and maybe someone can help. Many are using Android as a daily build with no problems like me. Give us your exact setup and be specific about your problems.
If android themes cause you problems then stop using them.

I've been using android as my main on the hd2 since I got it. I've not had any problems (other than low battery, but that's mostly fixed now). If you need some help you're gonna have to specify what exactly the problem is. Have you tried updating the kernel or radio?

Takes a long time and does not boot into andriod..
I have this problem with booting into andriod. Currently, my HTC HD2 is running on dutty's family rom V3. I have already formatted my SD card using the SD formatter tool. Then I have placed all the required files into the SD card. For the first time booting into andriod, it is relatively smooth, roughly taking about 2 to 3 minutes to boot. I am using Mdeejay eVo Sense v. 2.3 rEVOlution [kernel:hastarin R7.7]. After I switch off my phone and turn on my phone again, I run clrcad and haret, it gets stuck at the booting up screen with the green HTC symbol. I have to take out the battery again, reformat the sd card and repeat the same process. Could anyone help me with this problem??
OS version: 5.2.23142(23142.5.3.10)
Manila Version: 2.5.20191914.0
ROM: Duttys HD2 ML Family Rom (V3) WWE
Radio Version: 2.12.50.02_2
Protocol version 15.40.50.07U
i got the same problem , some one gave me a link to do before installing android
this is the link i got
http://leoandroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=182
But i tried , doesn't work as i wanted, every time i need to format reinstall folders etc etc...
if some one can help us, please let us know what to do
Here's what's on my tmousa phone;
Winmo - Ozrom 4.4
Radio - 2.15
Android - Mdeejay_eVo_Sense_v._1.0_Warm
I use an 8gm class 6 SD, I was using the stock 16gb class 2 but found the class 6 much much faster.
I really don't have any major problems, everything I need seems to work just fine, I only rarely stress it out and have to force a reboot. I did format the SD from within windows, no sure if that matters but it's always seemed to work for me and I figured the phone should know what it wants to see.

[Q] App for booting from one andoid to another.

Is there any app which will help me to boot from one android to another without going to windows?
I have MCCM and Froyo. I want to know if i can boot to Froyo from MCCM without going to windows.
Thanks for your time.
Nope, not at the moment. Since android runs off the SDCard and windows resides on the flashable NAND memory windows always loads before it's shut off by Haret. When the DFT team releases the Magldr, then you might be able to do what you're asking for. Hope that answers your question.

Hi guys
I have the MDJ FroYo HD v.4.4 build on my HD2, a friend recommended i tried MiUi so i put it on to my sd card booted it up then went back to MDJ's build and received an error when i turn on WiFi and excessive battery drain, far more than normal! since deleting MiUi folder from sd card battery seems to have got better but still error on WiFi. is it even possible to have two types of android on your sd card? Or am i just unlucky?
Anyone else having this problem?

MIUI builds create another Android folder beside it's original file, that may have conflicted with your MDJ's

Almost all android builds create other files on SD card. Normally they shouldn't conflict with each other but its possible your miui overwrote or corrupted something in your dhd build. Also possible for there to be little bits of programming still lingering around.

which android for my htc hd2?

i recently purchased HTC HD2 phone that comes with windows mobile 6.5.
I don't have a problem with it but some friends praised Android. I tried froyo on my sd card but it didn't work very well. it crashed and didn't load properly. Then someone told me that i've to remove windows mobile and install android fresh.
Can anyone suggest if android runs well on htc hd2? will i be able to use camera, phone, wifi, data, gps with android? But primarily it should work like any phone out there, after all its a phone.
Go to the HD2 Android Dev forum. There should be AmeriCanDroid.
That's a good stable build that I'm using.
SD base.
As far as I remember, AmeriCanDroid is for US T-Mobile users. If you use european version then I would suggest trying ROMs by Rafdroid (it's of course only my suggestion, but his ROMs are most stable for me.)
go to android NAND development and search for the stickies. there is a link which show a lot of android builds.
you can choose by yourself what kind of android you prefer (sense builds, stock froyo, gingerbread etc.) just give it a try
I´m personally on typhoons cm7 which runs really great.
but do i have to remove my existing windows mobile on my htc hd2?
will i be able to sync all my contacts, text messages with android?
Android works with google, so you can put the contacts in your gmail and it will sync with android on the telephone. Text messages wont work as far as I know
Just like the other people say, take a look in the android nand section and read the sticky's, they tell you everything you need to know.
I'm on the HyperDroid and works great
read thist thread, it will help you to decide.
ps: mods, this thread should be stick. its very helpfull to noods and more advanced users

Actually, they post US and ex-US builds each time a new build is released. Many ex-US users post there, but far too many US and ex-US ask the same tired questions over and over. Read the FAQ, and enjoy a good build.
id go for this thread HERE, which should help you get started.

I followed the steps provided at thread provided by gizmolisa2006.
After step 3 was done, which was to install MAGLDR 1.13 and it flashed (if thats the correct word) ROM to 2.00.000.0 by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe.
after that i pressed the power key and it doesn't go into bootloader or the magldr menu doesn't come up. i did what it said in that video as well. but no luck.
now my hd2 is stuck on white background with pink "Stick Together" logo.
Can anyone please help?
Did you flash HSPL first?

my bad, i was suppossed to install 2.08.hspl instead of 3.03.
its working fine now.
I installed gingerbread i guess.

help... i don't really know what type HTC HD2 i m using.. i m confused by so many types in the market, leoxxxx...t-mobile, htc sense?
i suggest hyperdroidgbx cm7 v1.0.3 runs great super fast and stable as all hell for me...only froze on me once so far and it was while i was streaming videos using flash...
great build
The most important thing is to get proficient at flashing your hd2 so that you can try out a few builds. Once you get hspl and magloader on your phone, I recommend coredroid simply because the instructions for getting clockwork recovery on your phone and installing coredroid are laid out fairly clear in a file with the download. From there you can try flashing other builds if coredroid doesn't suit your needs. I'm currently using hyperdroid and it's great for me.

[Q] difference betwwen NAND and SD card android development.

hey...
iam using t-mobile HD2 :
ROM version-2.13.531.1
radio-2.10.50.26
protocol ver-15.39.50.07U
and i want to install android on my phone. i have been reading quite a few threads everyday but the more i read i guess the more confuse i get.
some say that u should use HSPL.. some are against it... some say that we should flash android from SD card , some are again against it..
WHAT I NEED:-
1)i want to put android in my phone. preferably 2.2 froyo as i think that 2.3 mite be heavy for HD2.
2) i dont want dual OS. that is i just want android on my phone and not android and windows 2gethr.
please guide me. which steps should i follow...??

NAND means is short for NAND. memory/ NAND chip. This is what is called the flash memory of the HD2. It is also where the Windows Mobile OS is. So if you flash a NAND Android ROM you will wipe Windows Mobile, also your HD2 will boot into Android when you turn your HD2 on. You have to have MAGLDR or cLK to do this though.
Installing to NAND is faster and more stable, since the SD card might not have the read/write speeds to supply the OS. What is more, running Android from SD is booting up WinMO first and Android second, which is obviously slower.
I have a DesireHD ROM on my HD2, I have tried gingerbread builds too but without Sense it sucks imo. Hardware is more than enough, SetCPU just rocks (overclocking).
There is a nice and comprehensive guide on how to install the stuff, first HardSPL, then flash a new radio, then install MAGLDR, then flash an Android build (preferably rooted, I have had problems with rooting since z4root does not work).

-Yes. It will wipe your Winmo completely
-Yes. If you flash NANDROID, then you will only have Android.
-Some NANDROID ROM works, some dont. It really depends on your handset conditions and the rom itself. You might experience that you cant flash certain Nandroid Rom while others can, vice versa. But dont worry, there are many roms you can try out and see it if it is suitable for your needs

If you are just wanting to boot Android from SD card, unless you seriously screw up by doing something should not be doing, you are not going to brick your HD2. Click on my guide in my sig to learn some about your HD2 and also make sure to go to the bottom of my guide which is the bottom of post #3 and read the warning about the radio versions you can not flash to the HD2 or you will brick it. PM me if you need to, but please read the stickie threads and the links to guides in the stickie roll up threads also. Ckeck out the "New to XDA?" link in my sig to learn how to get the most out of XDA. Happy hunting!

Just so you know it is not unusual for a SD card build to not boot all the way up on the first time around. But bit usually if you do a reset and try booting it again it boots. Look into getting yourself a dual boot app too, just go to HD2 Windows Mobile themes and apps and do a search for Dual Boot apps or something like that. Turning HTC Sense hels with running Android from SD and also booting Android with in the first 10 to 15 secounds after Windows Mobile boots up helps out to, this is to keep Windows Mobile from establishing a data connection.
If you can't boot download a daf and run daf through USB flasher in magldr

Not being a smart a** but you do realize the OP is talking about running Android from SD card and not NAND right?
At the OP you said you run Unbuntu so you migbt want to check this article out that was in the Portal and follow the dev that is working on it. He is working on a app to " Hot Boot Into Debian From Android in the HD2" I think you might be interested in this, it is a short video there as well.

thanks i've just downloaded the apk from that tool and i'll try it on my HD2.
hi, i know i've asked so many things here, but i still confused,
i read about HD2 leos on here and search here for ROMS for my HD2 but they don't say anything clear.
i was thinking on upgrade it with the official tmobile rom 3.14 i enter my imei and it says it's compatible but, my cellphone it's unlocked, do u know if i upgrade it with the official tmobile update it will get locked again?
i want to upgrade with the official because i don't know if flash HSPL3 on my TMOUS 1024 HD2:
OS Version: 5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89)
Manila Version: 2.5.20121412.2
ROM Version: 2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE
Radio Version: 2.10.50.26
and i notice that my battery doesn't last that much and i have wifi turned off... and want a better rom, if not a custom rom maybe the official upgrade but i want to know what about if my cellphone locks again to T-Mobile and i can't use it with my carrier.
