i recently purchased HTC HD2 phone that comes with windows mobile 6.5.
I don't have a problem with it but some friends praised Android. I tried froyo on my sd card but it didn't work very well. it crashed and didn't load properly. Then someone told me that i've to remove windows mobile and install android fresh.
Can anyone suggest if android runs well on htc hd2? will i be able to use camera, phone, wifi, data, gps with android? But primarily it should work like any phone out there, after all its a phone.
Go to the HD2 Android Dev forum. There should be AmeriCanDroid.
That's a good stable build that I'm using.
SD base.
As far as I remember, AmeriCanDroid is for US T-Mobile users. If you use european version then I would suggest trying ROMs by Rafdroid (it's of course only my suggestion, but his ROMs are most stable for me.)
go to android NAND development and search for the stickies. there is a link which show a lot of android builds.
you can choose by yourself what kind of android you prefer (sense builds, stock froyo, gingerbread etc.) just give it a try
I´m personally on typhoons cm7 which runs really great.
but do i have to remove my existing windows mobile on my htc hd2?
will i be able to sync all my contacts, text messages with android?
Android works with google, so you can put the contacts in your gmail and it will sync with android on the telephone. Text messages wont work as far as I know
Just like the other people say, take a look in the android nand section and read the sticky's, they tell you everything you need to know.
I'm on the HyperDroid and works great
read thist thread, it will help you to decide.
ps: mods, this thread should be stick. its very helpfull to noods and more advanced users

Actually, they post US and ex-US builds each time a new build is released. Many ex-US users post there, but far too many US and ex-US ask the same tired questions over and over. Read the FAQ, and enjoy a good build.
id go for this thread HERE, which should help you get started.

Me too. It is stable and has low battery usage.
Development is in progress, the remaining issues should be fixed soon.

I followed the steps provided at thread provided by gizmolisa2006.
After step 3 was done, which was to install MAGLDR 1.13 and it flashed (if thats the correct word) ROM to 2.00.000.0 by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe.
after that i pressed the power key and it doesn't go into bootloader or the magldr menu doesn't come up. i did what it said in that video as well. but no luck.
now my hd2 is stuck on white background with pink "Stick Together" logo.
Can anyone please help?
Did you flash HSPL first?

my bad, i was suppossed to install 2.08.hspl instead of 3.03.
its working fine now.
I installed gingerbread i guess.

help... i don't really know what type HTC HD2 i m using.. i m confused by so many types in the market, leoxxxx...t-mobile, htc sense?
i suggest hyperdroidgbx cm7 v1.0.3 runs great super fast and stable as all hell for me...only froze on me once so far and it was while i was streaming videos using flash...
great build
The most important thing is to get proficient at flashing your hd2 so that you can try out a few builds. Once you get hspl and magloader on your phone, I recommend coredroid simply because the instructions for getting clockwork recovery on your phone and installing coredroid are laid out fairly clear in a file with the download. From there you can try flashing other builds if coredroid doesn't suit your needs. I'm currently using hyperdroid and it's great for me.

Ok... I'm a noob. I downloaded HSPL3 and did all that, downloaded the darkstone Froyo build, extracted to the root of the SD card, booted, Android runs, but the phone calls do not. When i call my voice mail it sounds like a robot. I'm running the stock rom. What can i do to fix this?

Get a new rom or radio...or maybe both...but those are the two main issues
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I cannot (and do not want) to change the stock ROM or radio.
Is there any android build I can install that will have a working PHONE?
Otherwise, all these builds are just a toy and not a phone.

The stock radio and Rom do not have the required features/bug fixes needed to run android. Any Android Build.
The issue is not with the Android builds, located here.
In laymens terms, you can not have a Honda run like a Corvette without changing the engine. The issue is with crappy programming on Microsoft's/HTC's part. New features needed to be added. Bugs needed to be fixed. The new Roms and radios are this communities solution to that.
Stating that something is a toy because you do not want to make the required changes makes me confused why you are even attempting an xda hack?
Hacks have certain requirements, just like for the iphone or any other device. We are making them do things, the manufactures did not want them to do.
No. You need a cooked rom.
Robo voice
After a day or two of using android the robot voice/sound comes back out of no where. I then have to restart the phone and boot into android for it to go back to normal. does any one else experience this?

If I change the Radio on my stock HTC HD2. Will that change all the HTC Sense on the WM6.5 side? I would like to keep all my settings and look on the WM6.5 side. BTW, how do you replace the radio? thanks for all the help

you find a radio-rom then flash it as you would normally flash an OS.
Hi everyone,
This is my first post in a long time.
Havent been on this board in ages.
I recently purchased a HTC HD2 and thought I figured out how to load Froyo 2.2 on to my HD2.
I load Froyo 2.2 on to HD2 and it works but after it i set it down and not touch it it will not come back on. I tried to reboot and and it loads fine from the sd card.
I followed the instructions here.
Here is the step by step guide on installing Android 2.2 Froyo on your HTC HD 2 easily:
1. The first step is to download this File, unzip and save the contents on your desktop [Or wherever your prefer].
2. Now connect your HTC HD2 with the computer and copy paste the dowloaded file to the root of SD card.
3. Once this is done, disconnect your phone and launch Windows Mobile File Manager.
4. Now in the File Manager, navigate to Android Folder and tap of “CLRCAD” followed by “Haret”.
5. Now wait for the procedure to finish. so not do anything silly at this time because the first boot will take some time so hang on in there.
6. There you go! Your HTC HD2 will reboot into Android. You can now make calls, email, connect to Wi-Fi or Edge and do everything else that you do with a phone.
You can navigate to this link if you are facing any difficulty in installing Android 2.2 Froyo on your HTC HD 2.
The phone is great with Froyo 2.2 but with win 6.5 its kind of ****ty.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the great work guys. !!!!

I have the same problem. Trying to figure it out.
4.3, what exact build are you using? I'll throw it on my phone and see if I get the same issue.
Also, are you using a custom ROM or a stock one?
I havent touched the rom, wasnt aware that I had to do that.
Dont know how to do it either.
Now I have the problem of me hearing the people sounding like an alien.
4.3 - try load the custom rom first before running android.

4.3, the "robot voice" is a known issue, and seems to be cleared up by running a non-stock ROM as opposed to a stock one, and supposedly helps overcome other issues as well, but that one in particular. You can find advice on which custom ROM's are recommeded for using when you want to run android, in the HD2 android forum section. Instructions on how to flash to a custom ROM can be found in the "links to cabs, ROM's, how to's..." thread that's stickied at the top of this section.
I'm going to try that froyostone build now (been meaning to anyway)....4.3, let me know if you're trying a different one than that.

Im using the same set-up that darkstone recomends.......
Rom: Miri WM6.5x V17.6
Radio: 2.10.50.26
Builds: Mattcnexus & FroyoStone_Sense
Multiboot, Desktop Android & Ubuntu Launcher - EBL2.1
Used to have the "Sleep of Death" issue also, stop using taskiller & usbmount. All good now. You definately need to flash the stock rom, try the one I recomended it's super stable. Good Luck !

HSPL is just a specific type of SPL. Make sure you read this guide, which tells you all about flashing on the HD2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=621930
Then, once you have all that down, you can get the HSPL you need ("HSPL3") here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893
Thanks GOD!!!
I think I have done right.
I flashed it with the HSPL
Then downloaded Kumar's TMOUS Premium V2.4.1 S23569 B2.14.nbh for tomoible htc HD2
unzipped it in to a desktop file with the custom.ruu file and Kumar's TMOUS Premium V2.4.1 S23569 B2.14.nbh
Now i have to test it out and see if froyo 2.2 will work..
i was able to Flash my HTC HD2 with HSPL
And then load the Kumar's TMOUS Premium V2.4.1 S23569 B2.14.nbh
I then tried to load the froyo 2.2 on the phone which loaded after a difficult time locating the sd file folder.
After I loaded it on I still have the trouble of the alien radio talking. Is there a way to fix the alien radio thing.
Also Kumar's TMOUS Premium V2.4.1 S23569 B2.14.nbh seems to be using Edge instead of 3G. Is there anyway to change this? If I wanted edge I would have stuck with my Iphone.
The 3G and the big screen was my primary factor in switching to htc hd2.
This phone sucks with WM 6.5. But the screen size and Froyo 2.2 makes up for it. To bad HTC made a bad decision to load WM instead of android. What a loss
Any help from sirphunkee/God or any one that has knowledge in this would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Awww come on, WinMo isn't that bad. I actually like it.
I am using Aug 6 Energy Cookie rom, 2.10.50.26 radio and using Darkstone Froyo 2.1 clean version. I don't have the robo voice problem.
Oh yeah, if you are using a T-Mous hd2 on At&t, you won't get 3g service. T-Mo and At&t use different bands for 3g.
so there is no way to escape the robot voice without flashing a rom?

Flashing a rom seems to be the only solution right now. It's easy (and kind of fun) to flash a rom. Read through this a few times and follow the directions exactly and you'll have it flashed in no time.

what about for the UK HTC HD2??
I have done the HSDL install, and then put radio version 2.10 on it.
was running Froyo ok, but telephone calls wasnt working (everything else was tho ) and the phone seemed to reboot itself into the standard stock HTC sense operating system.
am thinking maybe the radio was not the best for it? and I should change it, but not sure how. it says radio version still 2.10 at present
any help appreciated!
Nevermind, figured it out, running more stable with Radio 2.14, can make phone calls!

Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody could link me to some guides on how to install Gingerbread 2.3 to my HD2?
Thanks.
Read the threads
U should be reading the posted threads to know everything from the start
but i can guide u with this, first of all u have android either booting from windows which is the sdcard build, or the NAND rom which boots directly with android
u have to choose which one to use 1st, every way has its own adv and disadv
after choosing, its better to stick with froyo builds, as they r mature enough and stable and having almost everything working with it.
gingerbread has a problem with GPS to work and some other glitches on our HD2
in my opinion stick with sdcard builds until the NAND is perfectly settled
choose the way 1st and i can send u a direct link to it
good luck

Too many things are not working. And the phone is super slow.
How do I restore a HD2 with android installed back to Windows Mobile stock version? Can you please point me to Wiki, I am looking but I cannot find it.
Thanks,
Download your stock ROM and flash it via SD card - this way, everything will be back to factory status.
Just check the stickies in the WinMo thread, you´ll quickly find what you need.
If this is done will HTC know it has been using Android NAND? So could a phone be sent for repair if this is done?

Well first of all which Android rom did you use?
Did you try others?
Did you read the roms thread for tweaks/fixes?
Some roms can make your device run faster and better then Windows Mobile, You have obviously not tried variosu roms and just gave up after 5 minutes.
You should take your time and try some of the lighter Android roms like NexusHD2 or maybe a CM7 based rom. What you ahve probably tried is a full on DHD sense rom which (at first) will be laggy until OS has had time to settle down and also a few reboots.
I have been using Android since I had my HD1 and more or less since day1 on my HD2, Ive used many roms (thats teh fun part) and have not had a problem overall of slow or too many things not working, It all depends on the rom you use and if you tweak/fix or not.
