I stumbled upon this hacking of the HD2 and decided to go ahead and buy a HD2 and hack it... i did everything watching a Youtube video and it turned out to work. I see a lot of people posting different builds, Radios, and ROMs... and ill like to try them all to see which one will save me the most battery. The problem is idk what to do to change Roms and Radios. can you guys please help me. do i have to remove the cureent Roms/Radio to install a diffrent one.
FroyoStone sense v3
Energy Rom
2.08.50 Radio (Something like that idr)

to learn how to flash ROMs and Radios:
(this is for the USA HD2)

To switch Android builds just copy your builds to your sd card and run CLRCAD and then Haret. All the build threads have step by step directions just in case. Good luck.

Thank you very much I remember seeing Themistocles a while back but I tottaly forgot about it

what about for the UK HTC HD2??
I have done the HSDL install, and then put radio version 2.10 on it.
was running Froyo ok, but telephone calls wasnt working (everything else was tho ) and the phone seemed to reboot itself into the standard stock HTC sense operating system.
am thinking maybe the radio was not the best for it? and I should change it, but not sure how. it says radio version still 2.10 at present
any help appreciated!
Nevermind, figured it out, running more stable with Radio 2.14, can make phone calls!

Robot voice with Froyo Build

Ok... I'm a noob. I downloaded HSPL3 and did all that, downloaded the darkstone Froyo build, extracted to the root of the SD card, booted, Android runs, but the phone calls do not. When i call my voice mail it sounds like a robot. I'm running the stock rom. What can i do to fix this?

Get a new rom or radio...or maybe both...but those are the two main issues

I cannot (and do not want) to change the stock ROM or radio.
Is there any android build I can install that will have a working PHONE?
Otherwise, all these builds are just a toy and not a phone.

The stock radio and Rom do not have the required features/bug fixes needed to run android. Any Android Build.
The issue is not with the Android builds, located here.
In laymens terms, you can not have a Honda run like a Corvette without changing the engine. The issue is with crappy programming on Microsoft's/HTC's part. New features needed to be added. Bugs needed to be fixed. The new Roms and radios are this communities solution to that.
Stating that something is a toy because you do not want to make the required changes makes me confused why you are even attempting an xda hack?
Hacks have certain requirements, just like for the iphone or any other device. We are making them do things, the manufactures did not want them to do.
No. You need a cooked rom.
Robo voice
After a day or two of using android the robot voice/sound comes back out of no where. I then have to restart the phone and boot into android for it to go back to normal. does any one else experience this?

If I change the Radio on my stock HTC HD2. Will that change all the HTC Sense on the WM6.5 side? I would like to keep all my settings and look on the WM6.5 side. BTW, how do you replace the radio? thanks for all the help

you find a radio-rom then flash it as you would normally flash an OS.

Success!! But wait...

Hey folks!
Just want to say thanks to everyone who put up some of the great FAQs and guides on here.
I'm successfully running Android on my HTC HD2 (TMOUS) w/ 1024Flash.
However, I am in need of some guidance.
I'm using the HD2Froyo_v2.1 build.
I have also successfully installed HardSPL.
I made a test call, and the person on the other end sounded like a tiny robot.
I read about this in the forum guides, but I'm not sure what exactly I should do.
Can anyone offer some advice/guidance?
I believe I need to install a custom Radio, but I'm not sure which one.
Also, are there any other issues I should expect or anticipate?
Will I be okay to continue using the Android OS from now on if I like it?
Thanks!!

I am running the same combi and i am really happy!
I have tried like so many combinations....BTW, do you know how to show
the correct battery level on the vbn reloaded winmo rom ? Due to its low

Okay, so if I install that first one you gave me, I shouldn't have any call issues?
The build of Android I'm using seems to be running great, except for calls.
So here are my questions:
I need to install this VBNROM, correct?
Does this affect the Radio? My Android was running fine, but wasn't processing calls.
Will this VBNROM take care of this issue?
Also, how do I get back to Android after a reboot.
I'm currently back in Windows Mobile, but don't know how to get back to my Android install.
Thanks for the help, guys!

I'll try that first.
Any recommendations?
Try changing your radio. Search this as I am not allowed to post threads:
HTC HD2 Radio ROM Thread
Im pretty sure that you shouldn't flash to a .51 radio (grab the .50 ones) as they brick your TMOUS HD2.
If that doesn't fix the issue then you have to change your WM rom. Try Chucky's rom I found that got rid of the robot voice for me.
Post up if you have any questions.

Thanks.
If you can email me the link, my email is kms311 AT hotmail DOT com
I want to make sure I have the right thread.
try the 2.12.50.02_2, I am using that and it works perfect.
Also try putting music on your phone if you notice that it is playing faster than normal then change your WM rom.
Also, can someone tell me how to get back into Android?
I'm back in WinMobile, and I ran haret again. But now it just reboots to WinMobile each time.
Once android is loaded you won't have to do anything except get some cool new apps like angry birds (which is free and AWESOME). Also to boot up android, open the CRLCAD.exe then Haret.exe then it should boot. Not sure if i spelt it correctly but i hope you understand what i meant.
As I said before changing you WM rom may also help the robot voice. I would recommend Chucky's rom as it has a bootloader, so when WM loads there will be a black and white robot you press and it will boot up Android, better then opening both exe files.
To flash a radio go to the forum i sent you, then go to the installing section
to install as said you need HardSPL, and then download the radio rar file, and also download the CustomRUU file. After they have finished downloading Rename and extract the radio rar file make sure the name says: RUU_Signed.nbh and then open up the CustomRUU.exe and it should load it on to your HD2.
Here is what they wrote:
Installing:
For installing a RADIO ROM you need HardSPL installed to your device.
Rename the extracted file to "RUU_Signed.nbh" and flash with the CustomRUU: it won't hardreset your device.
Okay. I think I follow.
So I'll load a Custom ROM, like Chucky's, using CustomRUU and renaming the file.
Then I'll load the 2.12.50.02.2 Radio, and I should be set.
Have I got that right?
Try flashing a radio first and see if it works. If you still have robo-voice which i doubt then you can load Chucky's Rom.

i would take the suggestion from the first reply by blacksxe, which is the VBNRom.. and install the radio recommendation version that was posted at the VBNRom page as well (2.15)... also, expect that you will boot to winmo each and everytime that you restart your phone.. as of now, there is no nand support that's available for users.. only the devs has it and it's still under development.. so just use the EBL program that's included on the VBNRom and set it to autoboot (6 seconds or even 10).. that way you won't have to run haret manually each and everytime you restart..

No, do NOT run that 1.66 stock ROM on a T-mobile US HD2, it will brick your phone.
and HellocK, you need to be looking through the proper ROM sections for the T-mobile US HD2...this is the area for the european version (Leo).
One of the local section mods will be by shortly to move this thread to its proper location.

I had that problem a lot when I first started using Android on my HD2, what I do now is every noew ROM I put on first thing I do is go into settings, display, uncheck auto rotate, and turn off auto brightness and set it pretty high, never had that problem again. Give it a shot, maybe it will work.

which android for my htc hd2?

i recently purchased HTC HD2 phone that comes with windows mobile 6.5.
I don't have a problem with it but some friends praised Android. I tried froyo on my sd card but it didn't work very well. it crashed and didn't load properly. Then someone told me that i've to remove windows mobile and install android fresh.
Can anyone suggest if android runs well on htc hd2? will i be able to use camera, phone, wifi, data, gps with android? But primarily it should work like any phone out there, after all its a phone.
Go to the HD2 Android Dev forum. There should be AmeriCanDroid.
That's a good stable build that I'm using.
SD base.
As far as I remember, AmeriCanDroid is for US T-Mobile users. If you use european version then I would suggest trying ROMs by Rafdroid (it's of course only my suggestion, but his ROMs are most stable for me.)
go to android NAND development and search for the stickies. there is a link which show a lot of android builds.
you can choose by yourself what kind of android you prefer (sense builds, stock froyo, gingerbread etc.) just give it a try
I´m personally on typhoons cm7 which runs really great.
but do i have to remove my existing windows mobile on my htc hd2?
will i be able to sync all my contacts, text messages with android?
Android works with google, so you can put the contacts in your gmail and it will sync with android on the telephone. Text messages wont work as far as I know
Just like the other people say, take a look in the android nand section and read the sticky's, they tell you everything you need to know.
I'm on the HyperDroid and works great
read thist thread, it will help you to decide.
ps: mods, this thread should be stick. its very helpfull to noods and more advanced users

Actually, they post US and ex-US builds each time a new build is released. Many ex-US users post there, but far too many US and ex-US ask the same tired questions over and over. Read the FAQ, and enjoy a good build.

I followed the steps provided at thread provided by gizmolisa2006.
After step 3 was done, which was to install MAGLDR 1.13 and it flashed (if thats the correct word) ROM to 2.00.000.0 by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe.
after that i pressed the power key and it doesn't go into bootloader or the magldr menu doesn't come up. i did what it said in that video as well. but no luck.

i suggest hyperdroidgbx cm7 v1.0.3 runs great super fast and stable as all hell for me...only froze on me once so far and it was while i was streaming videos using flash...
great build
The most important thing is to get proficient at flashing your hd2 so that you can try out a few builds. Once you get hspl and magloader on your phone, I recommend coredroid simply because the instructions for getting clockwork recovery on your phone and installing coredroid are laid out fairly clear in a file with the download. From there you can try flashing other builds if coredroid doesn't suit your needs. I'm currently using hyperdroid and it's great for me.

A few questions

Hello everybody.
I am new to the board - well, to posting at least. I have been browsing for information for a while and with thanks to threads here, managed to root my hd2 successfully, but a few things are still not working for me properly, so I have a few questions
---
1. I had to ring a company earlier today, which was an automated service and upon them requesting I click a certain number to be redirected to where I wanted, I clicked and it had no impact on the call - they just said they did not recognize a request and continued to repeat the question.
So, does anybody know the setting I need to change to fix this?
---
2. I am in the UK and on my old phone, a blackberry (Don't worry, I have seen the light now!) I could get decent connection, even when not in an WiFi area, therefore using 3G. With the HD2 however, even by changing the radio settings in the *#*#4636#*#* I am never able to get a decent signal outside of a WiFi zone.
I am using the Radio from these forums. The Leo one with the exe being named RUU_CUSTOM. I will try and find it later.
Is the problem with the radio and I need a UK specific one? I have tried GSM (all variations) from the menu stated, which is out local frequency I believe, but with no success.
Or am I missing something else?
---
3. My Android ROM was made for a NEXUS ONE (The gingerbread one), so could this be causing the problems above?
I had to use this one because I could not find another one which would work using CWM.
I tried numerous and after installing, it would not load due to "Kernal Load Error" - so I had to settle on this one.
My partner is American and has an HD2 also, but her's is the American model, and she has no problem installing the mass of the ROM's available around these boards. Could the fact my model is the UK one, make any difference? I would not assume so, but it seems there is a difference somewhere.
Does anyone know the reason for these points?
I thank you all in advance for any help you provide.
-Luke
Radio 2.15.50.14 is the recommended radio for using Android. I'm not too sure about the UK, but I've used my American HD2 on both Tmobile and FarEasTone [ Taiwanese carrier] without any problems, so it *should* work for you too.
The Nexus One build is one of the best Stock Gingerbread ROMs available for the HD2. That shouldn't be the problem. I'm guessing the problem is you might be using the wrong radio. I recommend flashing back to stock WM 6.5 and starting fresh.
Also, there's tons of ROMs available for CWM! However, as you have the UK model, I suggest staying away from a Sense ROM, as they require an ext4 on your sdcard for your model, and that's always been laggy for me. Try MIUI, CM7, or stick with the Nexus build is my suggestion.
Hello EB, and thank you for your reply.

I just looked at my phone and the ROM I am using is GRJ90 (NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.9 NAND), which I agree, works well other than these couple flaws, which are not necessarily related to the rom.

Also, there's tons of ROMs available for CWM! However, as you have the UK model, I suggest staying away from a Sense ROM, as they require an ext4 on your sdcard for your model, and that's always been laggy for me.

Ok, I am new to all of this and it took me multiple hours just to get android to run on this, but I did the NAND install, so I do not have the WM on my phone, even as a dual boot option.
I will perhaps try to find one though, should I not be able to find the answers anywhere else first

Try MIUI, CM7, or stick with the Nexus build is my suggestion.

I did try the CM7 ROM (TyphooN_CM7_v3.7.0-cLK), but that came up with the kernal issue too. I did try a fair few more, but they all did the same until I come to the nexus, so I stuck with it.
May have to take your advice and start the process over again. *yikes*
Oh, okay, radio shouldn't be the problem then.
Do you have MADGLR or cLK bootloader installed? If you have MADGLR, than that may be the reason why that particular CM7 ROM isn't working, as you tried out the cLK version.

Dang it! I did not even notice that, but given I have only rooted one phone, surely I can be forgiven for this slip?
Thanks a bunch. Now I will go try another because you are right, I am using MADGLR.
Thanks again
You may want to look into hd2 toolkit. It makes task29, fashing and installing magldr, clk, and recovery extremly easy. I've had problems with the typhoon cm7 and would not recommend it. Try doing a task 29 and try clk instead of magldr. Clk uses ppp and magldr uses rmnet. Rmnet is haveing trouble but ppp is good. Try a more up to date gingerbread edition for clk and I think that will solve your problems.
The main difference between HD2 UK and American is the amount of internal storage. UK has 512 where Americn has 1024

Does anyone have a smooth 720p recording on an Android rom?

Some of the Sense 3.0 ROMs have 720p recording. I don't specifically know which ones though.
Just look at a couple threads, the OP should say if 720p recording is supported.

720p recording is only supported in Windows Phone 7 Roms
