I've got one of the first HD2s that were sold. These have the issue, that the touchscreen is way too sensitive, which makes typing a real pain.

Now with NAND however, this problem is back. I really have a hard time, since the touchscreen goes mad again. Is there any way to apply the WM reg-tweak to Android with an equivalent setting?

But there surely must be some parameter in the Android drivers, that controls the sensitivity and could be altered. I really hope one of the devs stumbeles over this thread.
It would be so much helpful (though I'm not complaining here. What they did to this point is outstanding already).

That's exactly my problem. I had the same issue with WM that got solved via reg tweak. Hope the same can be done in Android, because it's annoying.
Actually, in WM, I saw several times button pressed without touching the screen..

Try this:
Go to Settings -> Language & Keyboard -> Touch input -> Text Input -> Calibration Tool
Maybe this helps.

Thanks, but I don't have "Touch Input" as an option. I'm on Gingerbread, maybe that's why.
However, I guess this option only optimizes the way, the keyboard interprets taps. Adjusting the center of each key to the way you are used to type. Know what I mean? It doesn't sound like an option that could really rid of the problem at hand.
I'm not only having issues typing, but also tapping on links in the browser without zooming in and the like. It's everywhere, since everything is about touching, isn't it?
This problem plagued me in MAGLDR 1.2. Going to try 1.3 tonight and different builds to see if it's fixed. :/

Screen sensativity is okay with the "ghost hand" touch issue only during:
- When trying to select Ringtone
- When trying to type password in the browser for AppBrain authentication
I installed ADW.Launcher, and the touch screen stuff got a bit wonky in it too.
Tried Magldr 1.13 and Clockwork 1.3 updates.
Used HyperDroid and ghost touching was just as bad, though it took a while.
Tried Typhoon mod and it had same issues.
Using Stock Gingerbread and it's still giving some indications but not so bad.
It seems like the screen is just way too sensative. I'm out in the wind and the screen somehow picks up the wind hitting the screen as me touching it?
have the same problem... i thing its a hardware problem, i flashed to winmobile back an there is the same problem...

Hi everyone, i have WM6.1 Pro CE OS 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0) on my BA, and everything works fine, except my hardware keyboard. It happens to me too... nothing a soft reset doesn't fix. It only happens after the PDA hasn't been reset in a while. Must be a buggy driver.
I'm running Build 19949.1.2.0.Black. I can't remember exactly who cooked it, but a search for "wm6.1 black" should turn it up.

this is a common bug in wm6.1 roms its just another bug the BA has when its using a rom witch he was not intended for xD

the same here! I am on an English OS with a German hardware keyboard (QWERTZ).
The thing is, that all cabs that circulating around don't work anymore. Since build 19xxx all those reg changes don't have an impact anymore! No way to change the hardware keyboard anymore!

i tried change delay before first repeat, it seems to be better, but it happens sometimes too... i like wm6 very much, but this is really bad bug, i need to be repaired...:-/
i solved the problem
try to change the speed of buttons
settings-buttons-up and down control
change the (delay before first repeat) to a little bit long (a quarter or a half of the slider)
and also
change the (repat rate) reduce the slider to a little bit slower (it probably a half)

Hardware keyboard and buttons
We let go of things to acquire new and better ones =) I lost the functionality of my four front buttons and the hardware keyboard doesn't work well when I decided to upgrade my device. I can't hard reset (i'm using MTTY) and i no longer use the keyboard......... well, i have learned to live with it. In return, I have reincarnated my BA to a WM6.1 Touch phone. No more stylus; no more hardware keyboard; no more hard reset on a dead battery. I love my phone now more than what it used to be...or what it was, when i first got my hands on it =)

in fact, it has done so on every single 6.1ROM ive tried...and ive tried quite a few before finally settling down with Swampy's.
My guess: threaded sms is partly to blame- correct me if im wrong.
to me, the problem happens only while replying within a big sms thread. Im guessing, displaying/having so much text on screen/in ram is some how interfering with keyboard inputs. Already, it is slow, and it sometimes gets so slow it's stuck, holding onto a key press input and hence the repeats until a new key is pressed to cancel out the effect.
likewise, if you try composing a new sms, the problem, and the slow downs are far less often.

I was having the same prob...at first i thought that something was wrong with the hardware but then it struck me that maybe its the ROM...
What you can do is that:
Go to the settings and open the Button settings..there you can see the key repeat rate settings and the delay before first repeat settings..reduce both the sliders to slow and short respectively, so now when u press a key it wont go on like crazy...
Hope this helps...It like annoying when u are scrolling using the dpad cuz dont want to keep pressing...but i think the keyboard is more important and we can bear that...
But please someone do find out some working fix for this...

Firmware R2A seems to be faster, but I think the lag in general happens alot in windows mobile phones.

I do find that it helps to give the phone 10-15 seconds to finish its processing after rotating the screen (sliding out the hardware KB), since it seems to lag when you start to type RIGHT after rotating.
I am running Wisbar Advance 3 + Desktop 2, so that may have something to do with it, but I have heard that a LOT of ppl are experiencing this. Once I rotate and wait a good 10 seconds before typing, the character-popup speed is improved, but still not instant like it should be.
Could be a generic WinMo fault too...

Hm... I had the same issues with R1A AND R2A, but I haven't noticed it in R3A. Weird.
I get this issue with TouchIT 7+, and a friend of mine also gets it with Smaberg TouchX. It happened to both of us a couple of weeks after flashing. Strangely it's not happening on my one at the moment, so seems like an intermittant slow down.
thats weird, i got my device with the R2A rom and never experienced such issue, only problem i have with my x1 is that the panels does not rotate without the stutter, but hey, thats common on all xperias

That's well worth trying if people haven't already done this. The problem I've experienced is not related to this however, as I've never had it enabled.
Here's the fix:
Along with turning off word suggesrtion. You must also click on "clear stored Entries"...this will get rid of you lag. What happens is the X1 stores everything we type so you must go in periodically (manually) and clear all those stored words out. This along with turning off word suggestion will fix lag time.

i'm running on the xperia skin and i always get this issue with the ori rom and the custom roms. mine would normally pause half way through an sms or once or twice stuck at the "To" input when doing sms. i will try to off the auto complete and see if that solve the problem - thanks for the heads-up
Again folks, I said it in my earlier post if you want to fix the text lag, you must "clear stored entry" in seetings underneth the word complettion option. This will end the lag, however periodically you will have to go back in and do it again.
Can anybody help me to do this to have regular wm interface on my HD2?

I need to completely disable Sense without flashing new ROM (I plan to flash custom ROM in 2-3 months, but not now), especially the phone app. I'm using Inesoft Address Book and sometimes it doesn't start and I'm forced to use the default installed crap . It's lovely during the call when you are in hurry and an application you know nothing about is waiting for your commands.

Similar problem. I have the stock HD2 and I would prefer having the WM 6.5 user interface.
Let me clarify, I want the whole HTC HD2 user interface reverted back to WM 6.5 and not only the Today's Screen.

I have very little experience and time and don't feel comfortable playing around with flashing the ROM and radio.

it uses the default windows applications which i find to actually be quite usable and much faster

a soft key refers to the bottom of the screen, there are typically 2-3 "buttons..."
let me explain differently, don't look for a physical button, just look in the bottom right corner of your screen, you'll see the word MORE (once in settings) click it, you've just hit a "soft key"

Hopefully, I am asking this question at the right place...
I sort of stumbled upon an apparently new (i.e. in excellent condition, no scratches, etc, almost like new) HD2 which will boot but brings me to a non responding touch screen. The hard keys work, I can even receive a phone call BUT I cannot use the touch screen which is unresponsive. Someone at work that I asked told me he just does not have the time to spend trying to fix it for me (even for a fee) but supposedly it is the HTC Sense feature that messes things up. He adviced me to remove sense and try the old fashioned windows look.
I want to try to remove sense but how can I do that when the screen does not work? The phone is recognized and syncs fine when I connect it to my PC using Windows Mobile Device Center. Is there a utility that will allow me from inside my PC's windows to disable "sense" on the HD2?
By reading this thread, it appears that the HD2 works better without it anyway! (and quite frankly I have no idea what sense is or what it is for, some kind of UI maybe?)

Every so often but randomly if I leave my Leo on a surface with nothing near it that would trigger the screen it suddenly starts doing stuff! (like menus will open and select things, or the start menu will open and programs will be selected to run)

i had the same problem and got rid of it by installing a cab file from here. it was build to improve writing and reducing sensitivity. just at the moment i don't have time to search for it, but the thread name includes "3.3" because of the newest version of the cab.
i installed the cab without sensitivity decrease and it works like a charm! it improved writing with swype a lot and the bug you mentioned is gone!

I have found tips over the forums on how to improve the screen sensitivity of your WinMo resistive touchscreen
1) When calibrating your screen, tap the cursor hairs as accurately and as lightly as possible. I use a toothpick for this, it has a fine tip. You will notice immediately how much more responsive your screen is!
2) Another method I found was:
a) Install Attached .cab / Reg Tweak
b) Soft Reset
c) Be Amazed at your Screen Sensitivity!
This is a little .cab file / reg tweak created by kevinpwhite (all credits to him)
EDIT: Many people in the thread have said that it has calibrated their screen wrong and they can't navigate it (cab/reg) This has resulted in a hard reset to get the touchscreen back(due to different touchscreen resolutions etc) I will investigate more into this and create a new version, if possible. Please use it at your own risk, and be sure to create a backup of your device.

This was created specifically for the TG01, but i think that the WinMo stored values are the same across all devices. It simply changes a reg key to increase the screen pressure to the max.

i've tested in my O2 LIFE WM6, at the first time i got trouble, i couldnt tap my screen well. when i tapped all screen, it connected to bottom right screen.
i used my navigation button to reach the SETTING-SYSTEM-SCREEN-ALIGN SCREEN.
the align screen works. then i used a srynge to calibrate it (dont try this at home), the final result is........
WORKS GREAT LIKE A CHARM!!
my screen becomes more sensitive! I dont need my stylus anymore, with resco keybord typing is so much fun.

this sets your screen sensitivity to the maximum allowed pressure point. So your resisitive touch screen will require a light touch to register changes.
This is what loads of people complain about? Poor screen sensitivity? So try this out!!

I've installed on my diamond 2 and I have been the same as the other: to do a reset, I have completely lost the calibration of the screen. Through "My mobile" I could recalibrate it, but do not notice any difference ...

Thanks for trying amyway! It certainly works for me though. It just recalibrates the reg entries for screen sensitivity. It wont male a huge difference!

tried it on my hTC Gene (P3400) running 6.5.5 and i got the same problem mentioned in post #5...dead unresponsive screen with a few taps being wrongly located towards the bottom right of the screen...so had to go into the screen setting via my D-pad and re-align the screen to enable it again
i think problem has something to do with the screen resolution (mine is qvga)
faced similar issues when trying a screen sensitivity improvement hack meant for wvga screens i found somewhere within the forums...
anyways nice job...its great to see some people still trying to make an effort to keep WinMo going!! keep up the good work!!

first try method one of calibrating your screen on your own
if you try method two of installing the cab thenall you have to do is run the cab file and soft-reset your device
if its worked, and we hope it does, then that should be it, you should have a screen which is more responsive
if you get a frozen screen just navigate to settings/system/screen and align your screen again to get it to work using the direction keys if you have them or by any other means
or hard reset to undo the settings
i'm just sharing whatever info i have...do tell me if i've left anything out
