Hi,
has anyone else the same problem?
the keyboard doesnt pop up when clicking on a text box. not even the keyboard-sign appears in the lower bar, so typing is not possible. it is esp. annoying in opera because browsing is kind of senseless without a keyboard.
i'm using my touch hd exclusively in landscape mode. The autorotate program is flip it and im running duttys v3.
would like to know if more ppl have this problem

that was me posting in the dutty v3 thread but there werent many replies. only one or two encountered the same problems since a lot of the dutty users seem not use landscape mode.
apart from that i dont really know if this has to be discussed in the dutty development thread since it could also be a problem of winmo or flipit or anything else. my research brought me to the conclusion that winmo is responsible for showing an input device whenever a text box is marked.
also the dutty thread is too big already. i have to read 10 or more pages to see if someone answered to the question. too many ppl asking how to flash or how to make their cats flash devices
so, if anyone has the same problem pls post here with your config
thx

Sorry if these same obvious or if you have already tried/stated these. I'm just asking these questions to get a better understanding of your problem and to see if I can replicate/solve your issue
Have you had similar problem on any other roms?
Is it standard HTC keyboard you are using?
Have you tried using HDTweak Automatic display pop up?
Have you tried a hard reset and then testing keyboard before installation of apps, then adding each app one at a time to see if any of them are conflicting with it?

Really??? I have the same problem and I have read pretty much every post in that thread and don't remember a solution! If you could point us to it we would be very greatful!

I don't think I've had this problem on a non-Dutty ROM, but I'm not sure about that.
I use Fingerkeyboard.
I haven't tried the tweak you mention - but I'm not sure it would change anything since the problem is NOT PERMANENT! Sometimes the keyboard does pop up, sometimes it doesn't. Seems to be pretty random...

SOrry for the late reply...
i dont think i had the same problem with standard rom (autorotate app was changescreen)
i tried standard htc and fingerkeyboard
no, i havent tried hdtweak since the duttyroms are already tweaked by duttythroy and i dont want to mess it up. what exactly does the function "automatic display pop up"?
i hard reset after flash and tested directly afterwards. same problem.
does anyone know if this problem is still in duttys 3.3?
thx
hdizzel
The problem is still there in v3.3,i have read every possible thread and did every possible search,i cannot find anything mentioned about this and i cannot find a solution. It is kinda lame to have to rotate the phone everytime i need to write smthing on opera, but meh i can live with this inconvenience, Dutty's Rom is worth it tbh.
Even so if anyone finds anything pls report back would be nice to solve this

Currently using V3.3 and I'm still not replicating your problem. If I use Opera or msm in landscape fingerkeyboard automatically pops up for me.
I've used HD Tweak with basically every rom I've flashed and had no problems with it. I'd go as far as saying it actually improves the phones experience and userability.
Try using it and see if it also helps you with your keyboard display
The funny thing is that i have HD Tweak installed(and auto pop enabled),and had it on every rom i used(well basically all of Dutty's Roms since 2.4),dont know what is going on.Maybe it is smth else on my phone, will try reflashing and using Fingerkeyboard only as the first app.Btw this only happens in opera for me.

ok, I finally see were your coming from as I am experiencing it as well. Not sure why this is though. I'll look into it and see if I can find a solution.
I never really use landscape to be honest, especially in Opera as loading time of pages is slower.
well i use landscape on opera mainly for forum browsing cause i can see more text!anyways awaiting on news about this, and i am gonna try some tweaking around myself.
Arrgh!!! Really annoying, Clownshoes figured it out before me!!! LOL. Trust you mate!!
Ok mate, it seems it does work, you have to hold down for 2 secs in input field, no more, no less and it should then pop up. You can thank Clownshoes for that one!
Let me know how you get on

Hmm,i might be doing something wrong,i press and hold in the input field for 2secs or so and nothing really happens, well if i press for more the opera menu pops up "select all" but other than that nothing.
Maybe it has something to do with keyboard settings like the popup timer or something similar, although my settings are on default. i'll keep trying though.
Thanks for trying to solve this

ok, which method are you using to rotate opera? Are you using FlipIt?
I've noticed if I set flipit to 0 and 270 degrees and then enter opera. The first time the keyboard will not pop up. But if I exit opera and then re-enter it works fine.
Have you tried a soft reset?
It seems to be very sensitive. Try using just the tip or nail of your finger in the text entry area for about a second.
It also helps if you double tap to zoom into the text entry box.
I've just tested it by doing it over and over again and using the tip of my finger seems to work every time.
this is very weird,i got it to pop but it is extremely sensitive, dunno what makes it behave like this.
Anyways thanks for the solution guys.
I have a problem on my xperia sincethe begining.
when I type a sms if I write sentence pretty fast I have to wait to allow the pphone to finish writin.
anyone has the same pb? any solution?
did you update your phone to the latest firmware?
Firmware R2A seems to be faster, but I think the lag in general happens alot in windows mobile phones.
I've experienced this issue on my first R1A ROM that I got when the phone shipped in Nov/08. I've just recently updated to R3AA010, and noticed that the issue is still there. I do find that it helps to give the phone 10-15 seconds to finish its processing after rotating the screen (sliding out the hardware KB), since it seems to lag when you start to type RIGHT after rotating.
I am running Wisbar Advance 3 + Desktop 2, so that may have something to do with it, but I have heard that a LOT of ppl are experiencing this. Once I rotate and wait a good 10 seconds before typing, the character-popup speed is improved, but still not instant like it should be.
Could be a generic WinMo fault too...

Hm... I had the same issues with R1A AND R2A, but I haven't noticed it in R3A. Weird.
I get this issue with TouchIT 7+, and a friend of mine also gets it with Smaberg TouchX. It happened to both of us a couple of weeks after flashing. Strangely it's not happening on my one at the moment, so seems like an intermittant slow down.
thats weird, i got my device with the R2A rom and never experienced such issue, only problem i have with my x1 is that the panels does not rotate without the stutter, but hey, thats common on all xperias
"Disable Word Suggestions from Settings/Personal/Input/Word Completion. If you have a full QWERTY keyboard on your phone, and you're fairly fast at typing, the word suggestions are of no use to you anyway. And I have noticed quite a lag when this setting is on, especially when writing text messages. One would think that a cell-phone with 256MB of RAM, 128MB graphics memory and a 528MHz processor could handle quick typing without delay, but apparently that was a hard nut to crack for Microsoft."

That's well worth trying if people haven't already done this. The problem I've experienced is not related to this however, as I've never had it enabled.
Here's the fix:
Along with turning off word suggesrtion. You must also click on "clear stored Entries"...this will get rid of you lag. What happens is the X1 stores everything we type so you must go in periodically (manually) and clear all those stored words out. This along with turning off word suggestion will fix lag time.
guys, I didn't do it on purpose, I xanted to switched from windiws to xperia appearance and it's over, no more pb with typing......and YES i kept word suggestions.
finally I found.
thx to all of you, and let me know if this tip helps!

i'm running on the xperia skin and i always get this issue with the ori rom and the custom roms. mine would normally pause half way through an sms or once or twice stuck at the "To" input when doing sms. i will try to off the auto complete and see if that solve the problem - thanks for the heads-up
Again folks, I said it in my earlier post if you want to fix the text lag, you must "clear stored entry" in seetings underneth the word complettion option. This will end the lag, however periodically you will have to go back in and do it again.
Right, I've had the HD2 (well two of them now actually) for over three weeks so this isn't just a case of my 'not being used to the device yet'. I'm very used to it, so, moving swiftly along...
When typing on the super-sensitive keyboard, you know the one, where nearly every word needs editing due to errors......when I hit the delete button, all sorts of anomolies regularly occur. Typing is a real chore on this device. I get all sorts of characters appearing when I press delete, it is a real lottery and takes several attempts to actually delete anything. I have experienced this problem on both HD2s I've had, so this is definintely not a faulty unit. I am assuming that they're all like this?
Have you try with bsb tweaks and option decrease sensitivity of screen?

I installed the first version of that cab on my previous HD2 and found that sometimes buttons would not register and the whole screen would freeze momentarily etc. Also, the clincher, was that the screen was less sensitive in all apps, not just the SMS one. For instance, when sliding to unlock the handset it would take several attempts etc, this I could not live with. Is v3 any different?
Hi - if you read the link its not to do with removing the sensitivity as i didnt want that either it do do with alignment - I really cant explain it better then the dude himself. but if you holla at him im sure he will give you a better understanding of whats changed
Hello, i am running 1.66 rom on a generic htc hd2 with a t-mobile contract.
I cant update to the very latest rom because theyve only released it for branded phones!
The first bug ive comes across is the Facebook profile pictures in my favourites list sometimes switch around betweeen different people, so say joe's profile picture appears on bills name! happens every so often, and its very irritating. the only solution is to delete both contacts and re enter them into the phone!
The second is when im texting, at the start of the text, after i have done a few characters, sometimes it scrolls up to the last text and selects it, meaning i can still type, but i cant see what im typing, the keyboard covers everything im typing.
Incredibly irritating, i then have to minimize the keyboard, then maximize it aagain.
Also, a new occurance, when i switch on my phone it says launching htc sence and stays there for ages, when i click the cross, i get onto my phone, its as if sence had already loaded and just not removing the message.
The next thing is the wifi, is it meant to switch off affter a while? my battery went from 100 percent to 0 in about 5 hours! (not even joking) i just leaave it off now..
OOh and whilst im at it, one more thing. Can you sync your emails over data conneection? It always displays 'synchronisation error' when ever i try to sync over data connection, but on wifi it connects and downloads perfectly!
Any ideas on any of these issues? has anyone else experienced them?
thanks in advance

I don't use the Facebook app as it is absolutely usless, but after a search I found this -'Go into all people then select your contact. Then select Edit Contact. Then press where the profile picture should be. A 'Set Contact Photo' option should pop up. Next to the Facebook profile it should have a downloading icon. Once that was done i selected Facebook Profile and all was working.'

There is an SMS update from the HTC website, but I believe this just addresses SMS failure to deliver issues. However, flashing a custom ROM with 235xx (WM 6.5.x) will definately eliminate this problem, as it uses a different SMS application. I'd assume flashing a custom 21907 (WM 6.5) would fix it too.

I get this regularly (and also having the keyboard go mental sometimes, switching character sets, entering characters when I'm trying to backspace etc). Seems worse when the phone's hot or when I'm outside and it's windy! But that might just be a coincidence.
I actually sent the phone back to HTC a month or two ago (their customer service was fantastic btw - picked up the phone on a Monday, I had it back by Friday all by courier).
There was a note in there saying they'd reconnected the touchscreen. Everything seemed okay for a while but it's doing it again (I've never dropped the phone or anything). Wonder if it's a loose connector or something.
Mine's unbranded, so I'm waiting for the next ROM update (currently 1.66). If that doesn't fix it I'll ask for a replacement phone (not a fixed one).

253xx puts the Start button at the bottom of the screen and makes menus and scroll bars bigger, it's called WM 6.5.x.
219xx is the stock look with the Start button at the top and no so finger friendly menu systems.
That's the basics of the differences between them both.
ok thanks i think ill installl standard reference energy rom 235xx one.
Do i need to change my radio before i flash? i have hspl installed.
The reason being is that i have changed the radio rom before and the signal was no where near as good as the stock radio rom. So i flashed back.

If you have an international HD2 you have to install a 2.xx.50.xx radio before you flash the Energy ROM. if you leave a 2.xx.51.xx radio on the device you'll brick it.
ok thanks, im gonna update the rom now. The rom i have currently is far superior, but i will flash anyway and make the compromise.
Thanks

Thank you for your feedback!
And also thank you the OP who posted about that SMS problem- which I kept reporting with no echoes.
1) Yeah "reconnected the touchscreen" my @ss. That problem was fixed as soon as I changed ROM.
2) "theres a patch for problem with SMS", my @ss, I installed it did not fix anything- Also, if you read the rom's releases notes everything is "fixing the sms". They forget to mention that they moved the "task manager" in rom 1.66 and changed a few other things-
3) i still had lot of bugs with that rom and device. Now some of them are removed and I'm using Artemis 22A- A few bugs but all minor so far- so I finally start to "enjo..."erm hard word to say after so many months of troubles.
4) also for the "quietly brilliant support" you mention, I would not be so happy if you really knows what happens there: it's likely they will swap your device with 2nd hand device as they discontinued the manufacture of new devices. Also they had shortage of 1 part and they took it from random devices...
My point is you also risk to get 2nd spares part or the whole 2nd hand part... not too nice as it does not means that the original fault/flaw is fixed, and its gambling until your warranty expires...
Hi,
I have found tips over the forums on how to improve the screen sensitivity of your WinMo resistive touchscreen
1) When calibrating your screen, tap the cursor hairs as accurately and as lightly as possible. I use a toothpick for this, it has a fine tip. You will notice immediately how much more responsive your screen is!
2) Another method I found was:
a) Install Attached .cab / Reg Tweak
b) Soft Reset
c) Be Amazed at your Screen Sensitivity!
This is a little .cab file / reg tweak created by kevinpwhite (all credits to him)
EDIT: Many people in the thread have said that it has calibrated their screen wrong and they can't navigate it (cab/reg) This has resulted in a hard reset to get the touchscreen back(due to different touchscreen resolutions etc) I will investigate more into this and create a new version, if possible. Please use it at your own risk, and be sure to create a backup of your device.

Hi, dudes, my HTC WIZARD gets "untouchable" after this installation, but i found the way to solve it! =D
1- Download: CeRegEdit (u can found it on Google, with this u can explore your mobile reg trough your PC)
2- Open it (with your cell phone connected in ActiveSync)
3- Go to Tools, and select "Unlock registry" (your registry will be "Editable")
4- Navigate to:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH] and change this values to your defaults:
"CalibrationData" and "MaxCalError" (you have to found the values for your phone, here in XDA i foud the values for my phone)
5- Softreset
I hope to help someone, and i hope than no one had to make an horrible hardreset

This was created specifically for the TG01, but i think that the WinMo stored values are the same across all devices. It simply changes a reg key to increase the screen pressure to the max.

i've tested in my O2 LIFE WM6, at the first time i got trouble, i couldnt tap my screen well. when i tapped all screen, it connected to bottom right screen.
i used my navigation button to reach the SETTING-SYSTEM-SCREEN-ALIGN SCREEN.
the align screen works. then i used a srynge to calibrate it (dont try this at home), the final result is........
WORKS GREAT LIKE A CHARM!!
my screen becomes more sensitive! I dont need my stylus anymore, with resco keybord typing is so much fun.
THANK YOU..

the align screen works. then i used a srynge to calibrate it (dont try this at home), the final result is........
WORKS GREAT LIKE A CHARM!!
my screen becomes more sensitive! I dont need my stylus anymore, with resco keybord typing is so much fun.
THANK YOU..

this sets your screen sensitivity to the maximum allowed pressure point. So your resisitive touch screen will require a light touch to register changes.
This is what loads of people complain about? Poor screen sensitivity? So try this out!!
I didn't feel any difference in my Rhodium...

I've installed on my diamond 2 and I have been the same as the other: to do a reset, I have completely lost the calibration of the screen. Through "My mobile" I could recalibrate it, but do not notice any difference ...

Thanks for trying amyway! It certainly works for me though. It just recalibrates the reg entries for screen sensitivity. It wont male a huge difference!

No one else to try?
Just used the Calibration method on my Rhodium400, seems to work, but maybe it's just my head!

thabks for the feedbakc! glad it works!
I always thought that this couldn't really be done. Tried many before and didn't see a difference. Then again I can't help myself so I will try this out too.
why didn't you come up with this earlier? i wasted two years using my htc jade with this insensitivity, finally a solution
thank you so much
Okay, I will try it now, but we need to know if there are a way to uninstall it safely in case if anything wrong happen like that one who had the Omnia, also you should type if we have to recalibrate the screen points after installing the tweak on all devices or what.
Thanks in advance.
tried it on my hTC Gene (P3400) running 6.5.5 and i got the same problem mentioned in post #5...dead unresponsive screen with a few taps being wrongly located towards the bottom right of the screen...so had to go into the screen setting via my D-pad and re-align the screen to enable it again
i think problem has something to do with the screen resolution (mine is qvga)
faced similar issues when trying a screen sensitivity improvement hack meant for wvga screens i found somewhere within the forums...
anyways nice job...its great to see some people still trying to make an effort to keep WinMo going!! keep up the good work!!

first try method one of calibrating your screen on your own
if you try method two of installing the cab thenall you have to do is run the cab file and soft-reset your device
if its worked, and we hope it does, then that should be it, you should have a screen which is more responsive
if you get a frozen screen just navigate to settings/system/screen and align your screen again to get it to work using the direction keys if you have them or by any other means
or hard reset to undo the settings
i'm just sharing whatever info i have...do tell me if i've left anything out
