yes, i think it's going to be better, but xda-dev's ftp doesn't work for some time, so i have no idea where to get this qwerty patch.. but i am really angry from pushing keys, it's very unusable and have no idea how to solve this problem.. every reply is welcomed

It happens to me too... nothing a soft reset doesn't fix. It only happens after the PDA hasn't been reset in a while. Must be a buggy driver.
I'm running Build 19949.1.2.0.Black. I can't remember exactly who cooked it, but a search for "wm6.1 black" should turn it up.
EDIT
My rom:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390862&highlight=19949
Looks like I'm overdue for an upgrade...
this is a common bug in wm6.1 roms its just another bug the BA has when its using a rom witch he was not intended for xD
My rom:WM6.1_20758_WWE_by sun_dream.
the same here! I am on an English OS with a German hardware keyboard (QWERTZ).
The thing is, that all cabs that circulating around don't work anymore. Since build 19xxx all those reg changes don't have an impact anymore! No way to change the hardware keyboard anymore!
any update on that??
regards
irm
i tried change delay before first repeat, it seems to be better, but it happens sometimes too... i like wm6 very much, but this is really bad bug, i need to be repaired...:-/
i solved the problem
try to change the speed of buttons
settings-buttons-up and down control
change the (delay before first repeat) to a little bit long (a quarter or a half of the slider)
and also
change the (repat rate) reduce the slider to a little bit slower (it probably a half)
cheers
evo
thanks for reply but i tried it, it's one post above yours... doesn't help at all
how about reducing the repat rate to the slowest...
have u try that?
Hardware keyboard and buttons
We let go of things to acquire new and better ones =) I lost the functionality of my four front buttons and the hardware keyboard doesn't work well when I decided to upgrade my device. I can't hard reset (i'm using MTTY) and i no longer use the keyboard......... well, i have learned to live with it. In return, I have reincarnated my BA to a WM6.1 Touch phone. No more stylus; no more hardware keyboard; no more hard reset on a dead battery. I love my phone now more than what it used to be...or what it was, when i first got my hands on it =)
happenssssssss to me too.
in fact, it has done so on every single 6.1ROM ive tried...and ive tried quite a few before finally settling down with Swampy's.
My guess: threaded sms is partly to blame- correct me if im wrong.
to me, the problem happens only while replying within a big sms thread. Im guessing, displaying/having so much text on screen/in ram is some how interfering with keyboard inputs. Already, it is slow, and it sometimes gets so slow it's stuck, holding onto a key press input and hence the repeats until a new key is pressed to cancel out the effect.
likewise, if you try composing a new sms, the problem, and the slow downs are far less often.
Maybe this will help
I was having the same prob...at first i thought that something was wrong with the hardware but then it struck me that maybe its the ROM...
What you can do is that:
Go to the settings and open the Button settings..there you can see the key repeat rate settings and the delay before first repeat settings..reduce both the sliders to slow and short respectively, so now when u press a key it wont go on like crazy...
Hope this helps...It like annoying when u are scrolling using the dpad cuz dont want to keep pressing...but i think the keyboard is more important and we can bear that...
But please someone do find out some working fix for this...
Never happened to me. I'm using WM 6.1.4 ROM 20755.V2.22 (CE OS 5.2.20755) from Sun Dream. But I always install BAHRUS (HTC BlueAngel Russian Hardware Keyboard) from http://ae.inc.ru/index.php.

I've read some earlier msg. regarding Resco Keyboard Pro apparently clashing with something on the TyTN. Has anybody been able to get this utility to work consistently? I have the latest version, released after I reported this problem to Resco some weeks ago and they told me this release, 4.35, solves it. After installing RKB is seems to work OK but within hours it stops working and only the standard WM5 virtual keyboard will popup -- RKB will not even operate.
I am currently using it, and it works fine. I had sometime the default keyboard that poped out when I softreseted my phone, but it didnt happend for a long time by now
please search the forum : keyword 'resco' or 'sipchange' without quote. t.q.

Same here, sometimes after a soft reset it won't be enabled, one time it wouldn't start, and I had to softreset to get it to work, other than that it seems to be ok....the only times I notice it not being enabled is mainly when I have been installing or removin software

I've disabled the standard keyboard and Symbols right after installed Resco with SK Tools. Now I have Resco Keyboard and Paragon PenReader as SIPs and have no a problem so far. But I did have problems with the standard and Symbols.
Excuse my ignorance but why would you need virtual keyboard when you have hardware keyboard with TyTN?

Honestly before I got my tytn, and it being my first pda I thought I would always use the hardware keyboard, at first it was all I used, but I have a problem with the tops of my T and Y keys being scuffed by sliding the unit open..so I started using the sip keyboard and just got where I liked it better, also I got where I liked the portrait mode more also, I can use the scroll wheel easier and such...its just kinda grown on me I suppose.
I still use the hardware keyboard when I do my postings on here, just because I can punch it out faster, but I don't like it better...my thumbs are a bit big and I have to use my nails..and they tend to slide to the side of the keys cause they are bubble shaped...it would be nicer if the tops were concave, but when I do any googling or such its just a whole lot easier to type a couple words with the sip keyboard in the search box than to slide the unit open, plus even if your keys don't scuff like mine..you are creating wear, its just a normal occurrence when you have friction.
I'm sure other people have their reasons, those are just mine.
I remember on my Sidekick I was able to type as fast as I want and every letter would type in... But with my Hermes I have to type slow in order for it to type all my letters correctly.. is there anything I can do so I can type fast and it be accurate?
also, i find that sometimes when im typing one key locks in and types that letter alot until i hit delete.. example: "Hey how are youuuuuuuuuuuuu doing" and it locks typing the U until i hit delete.. any way to fix this?
Hi, there isnt really much you can do about it, thats crappy WM behavior, I used to have the exact same thing happen to me.
I am running the lvsw 3.20.2.1 WM6 and hadnt had any of the mentioned problems, actually I had forgotten all about it happening, untill I read this
Im not saying an that flashing a new rom is definitely going to help you, but pretty much all the crappy typing issues dissapeared in this build for me.
Difficult to pin this one down. As Chaoticdruid says it might help to change ROM. I do not get this very often and when I do it's not obvious what the cause is. Ensure of course nothing else is running when typing and a good bit of free space in Main memory. What is clear is that it's NOT routinely slow on all our devices so it will be possible to speed it up one way or another.
The repeating letters issue may have a different cause. If you get repeating letters and the keyboard is generally laggy then the above comments apply. However, if speed is generally good then I think this is the pretty well known issue of physical/hardware issues with the keyboard. This is commonly shown by some letters not working without an extra firm press and as stated repeating letters.

My opinion
I'm far from knowing what I'm talking about but I have noticed a few things about the problem you are having (happens to me as well).
I do agree that things work faster/smoother when there are no programs running in the background (memory stuff). What has recently helped me was to shut off anything that makes my unit have to think...namely any autocorrect or word suggestion stuff. I had mine suggesting up to four words while I was typing. It seemed my typing was to fast for this process so when I shut it off, it helped speed things up quite a bit! I hope this works for you! It would be nice to feel like I have made some sort of contribution, so many people have been kind enough to help me out on this site.
Just wanna share my test....
I got lazy keys on my Dopod 838 Pro also after upgrading to official Dopod WM6 ROM. At this time I had more than 1500 SMS stored. Since the lazy keys were affecting on SMS/Email writing and not on other apps, I was thinking whether the problem is related somehow to this huge number of stored SMS.
I deleted all my SMS and directly afterwards the keyboard is responsive again.
Can't validate this as I need to wait for my SMS to grow again to see if the lazy keys problem returns... but maybe you can check from yours if you have huge number of stored SMS/email.

I noticed this also, whenever I have 1000+ SMS stored on my phone the typing really slows down to a point where I type a sentence and wait a few seconds for the device to catch up

This is driving me nuts...I generally type fast but get lots of mistakes
I have a problem on my xperia sincethe begining.
when I type a sms if I write sentence pretty fast I have to wait to allow the pphone to finish writin.
anyone has the same pb? any solution?
did you update your phone to the latest firmware?
Firmware R2A seems to be faster, but I think the lag in general happens alot in windows mobile phones.
I've experienced this issue on my first R1A ROM that I got when the phone shipped in Nov/08. I've just recently updated to R3AA010, and noticed that the issue is still there. I do find that it helps to give the phone 10-15 seconds to finish its processing after rotating the screen (sliding out the hardware KB), since it seems to lag when you start to type RIGHT after rotating.
I am running Wisbar Advance 3 + Desktop 2, so that may have something to do with it, but I have heard that a LOT of ppl are experiencing this. Once I rotate and wait a good 10 seconds before typing, the character-popup speed is improved, but still not instant like it should be.
Could be a generic WinMo fault too...

Hm... I had the same issues with R1A AND R2A, but I haven't noticed it in R3A. Weird.
I get this issue with TouchIT 7+, and a friend of mine also gets it with Smaberg TouchX. It happened to both of us a couple of weeks after flashing. Strangely it's not happening on my one at the moment, so seems like an intermittant slow down.
thats weird, i got my device with the R2A rom and never experienced such issue, only problem i have with my x1 is that the panels does not rotate without the stutter, but hey, thats common on all xperias
"Disable Word Suggestions from Settings/Personal/Input/Word Completion. If you have a full QWERTY keyboard on your phone, and you're fairly fast at typing, the word suggestions are of no use to you anyway. And I have noticed quite a lag when this setting is on, especially when writing text messages. One would think that a cell-phone with 256MB of RAM, 128MB graphics memory and a 528MHz processor could handle quick typing without delay, but apparently that was a hard nut to crack for Microsoft."

That's well worth trying if people haven't already done this. The problem I've experienced is not related to this however, as I've never had it enabled.
Here's the fix:
Along with turning off word suggesrtion. You must also click on "clear stored Entries"...this will get rid of you lag. What happens is the X1 stores everything we type so you must go in periodically (manually) and clear all those stored words out. This along with turning off word suggestion will fix lag time.
guys, I didn't do it on purpose, I xanted to switched from windiws to xperia appearance and it's over, no more pb with typing......and YES i kept word suggestions.
finally I found.
thx to all of you, and let me know if this tip helps!

i'm running on the xperia skin and i always get this issue with the ori rom and the custom roms. mine would normally pause half way through an sms or once or twice stuck at the "To" input when doing sms. i will try to off the auto complete and see if that solve the problem - thanks for the heads-up
Again folks, I said it in my earlier post if you want to fix the text lag, you must "clear stored entry" in seetings underneth the word complettion option. This will end the lag, however periodically you will have to go back in and do it again.
Right, I've had the HD2 (well two of them now actually) for over three weeks so this isn't just a case of my 'not being used to the device yet'. I'm very used to it, so, moving swiftly along...
When typing on the super-sensitive keyboard, you know the one, where nearly every word needs editing due to errors......when I hit the delete button, all sorts of anomolies regularly occur. Typing is a real chore on this device. I get all sorts of characters appearing when I press delete, it is a real lottery and takes several attempts to actually delete anything. I have experienced this problem on both HD2s I've had, so this is definintely not a faulty unit. I am assuming that they're all like this?
Have you try with bsb tweaks and option decrease sensitivity of screen?

I installed the first version of that cab on my previous HD2 and found that sometimes buttons would not register and the whole screen would freeze momentarily etc. Also, the clincher, was that the screen was less sensitive in all apps, not just the SMS one. For instance, when sliding to unlock the handset it would take several attempts etc, this I could not live with. Is v3 any different?
Hi - if you read the link its not to do with removing the sensitivity as i didnt want that either it do do with alignment - I really cant explain it better then the dude himself. but if you holla at him im sure he will give you a better understanding of whats changed
Hi Communiteee...
I have just started tweaking my TP2 and for some reason the above mentioned keys die on me...
I initially thought it was the "Classic Word Completion" cab but I do not have this installed and this AM it died again
If I hard reset with the internal storage it does not fix the problem BUT when HR with the Hardware keys it Does
Is there a way to check in the registry if these are still mapped correctly please.
The path would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

If you loaded on a new rom then you probably have to find and install the keyboard fix for whatever version of your phone you have. Look in the thread you downloaded the rom from and you'll likely find it in there.
That said.. if you havnt installed a rom and your keys randomly stopped working I would still try a keyboard fix. You can do a search in the rom subforum for them.
Good luck

Thank you Aaron,
I have only loaded the stock 6.5 ROM upgrade - will try to re-flash that and if that does not work I will try the Keyboard Editor I found on the Must have Apps Thread...
Will let ya know If I could get this resolved...
I am in the US and use AT&T. I have to install a cab every time I install a ROM or my keys are all screwed up. Maybe that is your issue. Good luck.

Hi There kimtyson,
Please advise which .cab that would be which you have to use?
I reflashed the Stock ROM and the keys worked for a while and then they decide to stop I have no idea why - I downloaded Energy ROM last night - will flash that at work and see if this resolves my problem...
HTC have replaced my Hardware Keyboard so it has to be something to do with the software
Thnx!
Bad Boi,
You mentioned your keyboard was replaced by htc already. I would send it back. If a hard reset doesnt fix the prob then I would say its a hardware prob. Maybe I missunderstood you but a hard reset puts the registry back to stock. You may have a bad flash and need to try to reflash the upgrade. Also, every cab or reg edits I did to get back the good old predictive text/word completion, it would always mess up my soft keyboard not the hard one. I have found that if you install HDTweak and enable the T9 option it will give you the predictive text back. You can even adjust how many words it suggests. Dont forget to turn off xt9 on your device. It works like a charm. If you need a good keyboard remapper I use Tarkim keyboard controller. I have to do almost my entire keyboard cause there isnt a 100 % fix for the Tilt 2. Here are links for the programs I mentioned. I hope this helps.

Thank you thebigrhinoone,
I have reflased stock upgraded ROM and the problem still pops up now and then - with or without tweaks added...
I have the Clasic Word Completion from PPC Geeks (Similar to Vogue Stock) for my TP2 and that works without any problems and no remapping required...
For the time being the ASDF is working - I will Flash the new ROM if the keys lock up again just to make sure if its hardware or not...
FYI
The way I get the predictive text working doesnt require any key mapping. The key remapper was for you to reassign the keys that arent working to see if that solves the problem. Sorry if I wasnt clear about that. If your problem persists try using the hd tweak method to see if that takes care of it. There are a lot off options in that program that you might like as well to tweak your phone. Take care and good luck.
